Hi,

Forgot to add. Try nelson staffing and see if they might be able to help you with a temp job (www.nelsonstaffing.com) We use them for our contingency workers at work and they have a branch location in Fremont.

Good luck with the job search !

Hi,

I see that you're in Fremont. Mmmm I'm sure there's some job openings there and the cities nearby like Milpitas and San Jose. I've seen several job openings that have are not bad (seen several openings for star$). Also maybe you can try for Great America? the park just recently opened and I'm sure there's several opportunities.

Don't lose hope ^^

PhilippinesScheduling the Interview

QUOTE (Bill & Bea @ May 26 2009, 09:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The NVC sent approval to the embassy who received it 5/18.

I have called to schedule an appointment, and they have told me that I need to call back in two weeks.

I realize that this is the standard response, but I was wondering what is the REAL timeline. It has cost me $18 so far. I had planned to call every other day until I can schedule. I really don't want to waste money, but I need to get this scheduled as soon as possible.

I am going to the Philippines on 5/30. I need to return to the US 7/9. I want to be present at the interview.

Any insight or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

last april 21 my fiance got his NVC packet with case number stating i'm going to receive a packet from manila embassy within that week orin two weeks... i got panic coz i'm waiting for 1 month already, that's why i emailed consivmanila@state.gov last may 19 n 5 sec i got a reply but still confused... the next day may 20... i got an email stating:

<your letter...sorry had to shorten it hehe>

may 22 around 2:30 pm ... i got USEM LETTER stating that my case is eligible to be scheduled for a visa interview... i may request an interview date by calling the visa information services... so may 25... using pldt IDD phone i called them up... they got my case number, name, address, email add, bday... then the call center agent gave me a confirmation number, my schedule date n time... she let me choose from june 16-21... i got june 18... this week il goto manila for my medical exam...

try to email them so that ul not spend more money... and dont worry okay... relax... soon you'll get it.. God bless US

Mmmm I'm in the same position as my lady is waiting on the USE letter to schedule an interview. So, it looks like some peeps are getting the letters around a month or so? I want to email them too just so I can verify that the USE actually got the case/file and didn't lost in the process.

The added advantage is that you can start the K1 process RIGHT NOW, whereas with K3 you will have to wait until you are married thus saving even more time.

Thanks everybody, this is really helpful!!!!
I seem to be getting the same answer from everyone here- to go for the K-1.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 vs K-3, which is best
Saludos Amigos~
We are trying to decide which is better for us, K-1 or K-3. Any input would be great; I've spent hours reading this website and a thousand others, but I'm still not clear. You wonder how current a lot of info is.
Here is our story:
- me, US
--him, Ecuadorian, has passport, no visa, ie cant get a tourist visa to visit
-met Dec 2007. i was in Ecuador on a kayaking trip, he is a raft guide. Spent one week together.
-Feb 2008, i returned to Ecuador, spent almost the whole month with him.
-Feb 2008, im back in the US now, within a few days of being apart we realize we dont need to look any further. let get hitched!

Im hearing that the fiance visa is taking slightly less time (a few weeks) less the spouse visa. Is this accurate?

One lawyer I emailed says he is getting visas in 6 months, the processing times on USCIS look like 7 months, and the lawyer I paid $200 for a consult says current times are a year for spouses and a 1.5 yrs for fiances. Who is correct?

Also, a lawyer told me the fiance visa can be denied if they think its a sham, but they cant pull that with the spouse visa. Since we obviously had a very brief courtship (although we can document emails, phone calls, an expensive and long return trip, photos, as well as all my Learn Spanish type books and cds purchased after we met) I'm a little worried about going with the fiance visa. Can anyone advise- will our short courtship throw a flag? If so we are prepared to marry in Ecuador asap and start the K-3 instead.

On the other hand, we want to be be together soon! I'm 38, he's 37, and we want to start having kids asap. (Remember that line from that movie with Marisa Tomei... my CLOCK is TICKING?? :-)

Pros (?) WE ARE: same age, same interests, didn't meet thru internet or marriage service (no offense to anyone i dont know if this is a pro or not), I make enough money and I happen to carry a badge (maybe that will make me look more law abiding and less likely to attempt a sham marriage?), no drugs, no police records, no prior marriages or kids..... what else is important? He has some pretty sweet references- the mayor of his town, lawyers, and his state and national political representatives.

Hope this is neither too much no not enough detail to get a few good responses. Im posting this on the K1 and K3 forums. THanks everyone, have an awesome day!

I hear everyone's pain when talking about waiting and visits and such. I have to say, honestly, since i met my fiance , we have been so happy that so far the waiting and distance dont matter. being sure about each other helps a lot, because you dont spend time wondering if they are changing their mind or have an ulterior motive. however this grace period for me seems to be coming to an end...or maybe , hopefully, these feelings are making a pit stop and will soon be off, like a summer thunderstorm followed by a hot sunny day. or...Off, like a bad toupee! Off like a prom dress! anyone want to add to that?

QUOTE (TBoneTX @ Sep 1 2008, 11:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
To my bitter amazement, and only after teeth-pulling that followed hell on Earth, the consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador kept a promise and sent out our K-1 visa. Cristina picked it up at a DHL office, after a 7.5-hour bus ride, on 1 September 2008.

Whereas most of these "got the visa" posts are filled with whoops of joy, and are cause for them, I remain livid. I will absolutely NOT post a review of the consulate until AFTER C.'s successful passage through POE (planned for 9 October 2008). When I do post, it will be in the Regional forum, Latin American subforum, in the thread "US Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador." Be prepared for your computer to explode.

Thank you for your support during this time, si man.

CONGRATULATIONS!! we are waiting for our NOA2 and will also be interviewing in Guayaquil..... I think. so I will be looking for your writeup!! although our interview may be in quito, some form i found seemed to indicate quito instead of guayaquil.

Hello VJers,

Months ago I created an account on the USCIS website and never signed in again. of course i cant remember the password and after trying to log in, USCIS says, login failed, account locked due to multiple login attempts. also i know its been more than 90 days so the password expired too.
for the life of me, i can't figure out how to change my password! can anyone help!? i tried to create another account but it was denied and they said, do not create duplicate accounts, to change your password go to "my account " on the left side of the screen-- but its not there! and i cant find any place on the website to email this type of question.

by the way, is this the only way to see a "touch" ?

i have been simply checking the case status by entering the case number. does a touch show up there? what about the phone number, does that tell you about a touch?

thanks for your help!!!!!
have a wonderful evening!!!!

Hello everyone star_smile.gif
This is an update of mine and Oksana's journey good.gif She received her Visa 25th of September and she is arriving home at 4:00 the 15th of October kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
As for plane tickets cost, it all depends where you are coming from and Port of Entry. I found out that first checking her countries flights and routes to America and then looking at connecting domestic flights to our home was the best way to go, because domestic flights are much cheaper than international flights yes.gif
Oksana is flying from Tashkent Uzbekistan to Seoul Inchon South Korea and then on to Seattle (my home state) She will then connect with Alaskan Airlines to Eastern Washington. Flight miles 8,412 . Best thing to do is check all flights to US major airports and then check domestic connecting flights to your nearest airport. You will save a little money yes.gif
Good Luck to all,

hey everyone,
what is the best kind of ticket to get for the fiance who is coming to the US- one way or a changeable round trip? OW costs the SAME as RT....!!!!! if you got a RT you could use the other leg later, when your fiance wants to visit family and friends. but i could see how that might end up being a hassle. any advice? how are you all handling it? i have some frequent flyer miles- maybe we will use them.
thanks !

Kathie....

Congratulations to you! good.gif good.gif good.gif

Oh! About the ticket... My fiance will get one way ticket only for me. Because his friends got only one way when their fiance/fiancee went to US. Since I'm not going back anytime soon. Also my fiance visa is single entry. Not unless if it's intentional that a fiance/fiancee doesn't want to stay in the US and plans to go back home after 90 days.

Angel

hey angel! thank you. i think we are going to also get a one way ticket. it sucks its so expensive instead of being half price of a round trip but oh well! my fiance's mom is alone and not in the best health, that is the main reason we might travel back there soon- in case of emergency. also we like to travel! :-) i think im going to buy him a OW ticket using my frequent flyer miles though.

hello everyone, i'm happy to report WE GOT ANOTHER TOUCH TODAY!!!!

Heather, thanks for that link with the average processing times, that is really really helpful!!! so if my math is correct, it's about 25 days on average, from NOA2 to arrival at the consulate. YIPPEEEEEEE !!!!! i know that's an AVERAGE, and that these 2 touches might mean nothing at all, and that we could get held up at NVC: blah blah blah IM STILL EXCITED!!!!

I'm here at work now, and when i logged in to uscis and saw the second touch, my co-workers were in the room with me. i'm a firefighter, we are supposed to be tough right? well, im reading the information to my co-worker, and all of a sudden, i totally choke up mid-sentence! i had my back to him, but there was enough emotion in my voice that he knew. he said, you're crying! you're crying! it was really funny actually, my crew is great. we all were running around yelling at each other, I'm verklempt! I'm verklempt! if you ever watched saturday night live you may recognize that line. Alan and Noemi, thank you for such a nice email- it was actually your email i was reading out loud when i choked up!

mitchamy, thanks for the congrats!!!
cca: good luck!!!!!
pam onzo, thanks for that information about what they were really looking for, very helpful.
Glo, thank you so much for your note! i was telling my captain about your fiance's plane nightmare, and also about robertjay's fiance having to wait in line for 5 hours. my captain said, well can they party while they wait in line, like before a concert or something? we all had a good laugh about that too.

all the best, everyone have a good weekend. remember, we create our own reality. dont be like me and be miserable for a month while waiting for the news that will come when it darn well feels like it. get out and have fun while you wait! maybe we all should be partying while we wait in lines.

Of the last 20 K-1 NOA2s , 12 applied AFTER we did. is something wrong or am i jumping the gun? im starting to stress!! we have been tentatively planning to see each other in october, a reward after another 3 months apart. we thought we would be having the interview by then, and i kept my work schedule clear. but if it takes about one month to go from NVC to interview....this is starting to look really bad!! what if i get an interview date around thanksgiving--im working the day before and day after and it will be so impossible to get the day off!!

SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU SMILE!!!!!!!!

This explains why I forward jokes.

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
'Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.'
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.'

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.

'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
'This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Soooo...
Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us without writing a word.
Maybe this will explain.

When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess what you do? You forward jokes.
When you have nothing to say, but still want to keep contact, you forward jokes.
When you have something to say, but don't know what, and don't know how, you forward jokes.
Also to let you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are still loved, you are still cared for, guess what you get?
A forwarded joke.
So, next time if you get a joke, don't think that you've been sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today and your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you a smile.

You are all welcome @ my water bowl anytime
