PhilippinesWhat are the questions they ask in the interview for CR1 in Manila?

I went with my wife and son, and I brought up-to-date financial records. They asked my wife and son if they knew me and the address where we would be living in the US, then wished us good luck.

PhilippinesHas anyone here used FOREX as their cargo service for sending Balikbayan box?
FOREX is great. Depending on where you ship from and to, we ship from Cleveland to Tacloban and it takes about 8 weeks and $120. But never any problems with the boxes.

PhilippinesU.S. ANNOUNCES ‘NO VISA’ POLICY FOR FILIPINOS - IS THIS FOR REAL?

Hoax. No way either govt gives up the revenue from visa's. If you have been "lucky" enough to go through the interview process at the embassy, then you know the massive numbers of people who go through there on a daily basis.

UMAC (luckily) is in our area so we get the box ready and they come to the door.  Gotta like it!!

Thanks guys. I'll file UMAC for future reference, They don't have any near us.

We might switch to LBC after we ship these Forex. LBC has pick-up for us and Forex stopped picking up in our area.

PhilippinesAnyone recently sent balikbayan box to Tacloban or nearby?

I use UMAC, excellent service, took roughly 30 days to metro Manila.  I checked the DTI website for which forwarders are approved and which aren't, not approved means there are MANY complaints and little satisfaction

Good website. Thanks!

PhilippinesAnyone recently sent balikbayan box to Tacloban or nearby?

Thanks. We have sent several boxes with Forex over the past several years. I'm just a little concerned about sending to Tacloban because of the typhoon damage and many businesses still being closed. I haven't heard of anyone sending yet. I suppose we'll just take the chance because I'm tired of looking at the boxes sitting here.

I'm thinking of sending a couple of boxes from Cleveland to Tacloban this weekend using Forex. I just wondered if anyone had sent there and how they were received. Thank you!

Nothing is needed, the mother has sole custody of the child.

It seems to be fairly common. We didn't have any problems with it.

Philippinesneed advise bout NBI with a.k.a

== what im worried is the format that the encoder put in my a.k.a, she put my first name first, then middle name and last name. Ive read some vj has their a.k.a start with Last Name, First Name, Middle Name. :(

I would say send it, they should be able to figure that out. Of course if it is going to keep you awake at night worrying, it is probably better to get another.

Hi, i got my NBI clearance with a.k.a (bcoz of corrected middle name in my BC)today. I've noticed that my a.k.a start with my First Name, Middle Name (uncorrected), Last Name. Will that be fine for USEM or they have a specific format on this matter? :(

Are you saying you don't have an NBI for your correct name?

Sounds like that should be ok. Philippines seem to have a lot of problems with name discrepancies. My wife went through something like that with her first name on BC different than her baptismal. If the middle name is something simple like a spelling error, then I think you should be fine.

We also included an affidavit of discrepancy that had 2 unrelated people testify that the aka and correct version were the same person.

PhilippinesBringing cremated remains from US to Philippines?

I actually looked this up for you, hope it helps.

Thank you for the links. This was helpful, especially the packaging suggestions. I called the airlines, Delta, and they said she will need to have a certificate of death or cremation to show and may be carry-on or checked baggage. I am still a little curious to see if the Philippines has any further rules for entering the country.

Thank you again for your help!

I think you are right, they probably got confused somewhere along the lines.

I guess I'll have to plan to have my wife's son retested too. We had thought it was just her going back for the vaccine.

I think I'll post the question about the retests again to check if everyone had to go through that.

Thanks for the reply.

They let you inside then you wait for a number to go to the window. I was there and I think it made it much easier. You can read about the interview experiences at the top of the VJ page under the tab Reviews: Embassy/USCIS & POE

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshow many days after submitting rfe

hello everyone! just wondering we submitted our rfe last monday we don't know if they got it already.my question is til' when are they gonna finished reviewing our papers and get that ticket to the interview? talkin about that appointment letter. do u guys think i still have a slot in US embassy of manila? they said they have this cut off coz of the small space of their office. like whatever they could cater hundreds of fiance visa they should prioritize us immigrants first or they should do it fairly. :star:

We filed our RFE on August 18 for more evidence for my wife's sons birth. They gave us a date of Sept. 29 to have it turned in. I am a little afraid if they decide they want DNA, we will not have time to get the results, so I am planning to call them on Monday to ask if they have any information or if I should file for an extension and get DNA.

Our letter says they can take up to 60 days, but most I have seen are just a couple weeks until the reply.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOMG what is this???

I tried to checked my status at USCIS website and after logging in this what it says:

Case Status Retrieval Failed
To view the status of a case, please enter the corresponding application receipt number. The 13-character application receipt number can be found on application notices you have received from the USCIS. It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC). Dashes ("-") should be omitted when entering a receipt number. However, all other characters, including asterisks ("*"), can be included if listed on your notice as part of the receipt number.

Listed above are the possible steps an application or petition may go through during processing. Not every application or petition will spend time in each of these steps. Once you enter your receipt number you will see the steps that will always be required for that particular application or petition. The step in the process where your case is currently located will be highlighted. Other steps will appear if your case requires that particular step.

Help I don't know what is it :(

System is down. it is happening to everyone.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAccompanying my fiance to his interview

Can anybody tell me with absolute certainty if the petitioner is allowed to attend the Visa interview with the beneficiary at the embassy in Manila? I have plenty of documentation and evidence to substantiate my relationship with my Filipina fiancee so I assume my presence may not make much difference. However, I would like to accompany my fiance to her interview anyway per her request.
The information I was given when calling the appointment center was that the Petitioner probably wasn't allowed to enter the embassy or attend the interview with the beneficiary.
I have read in different sources that this actually isn't the case and that the petitioner CAN attend the interview. Can anybody clarify this for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers...
WJW

I have read several posts where the petitioner was allowed to attend. Sometimes they asked that the petitioner be quiet and other times the petitioner did most of the talking. You are definitely allowed into the embassy, it might be up to the interviewer as to if you can attend the interview. At least that's in Manila, I don't know about other countries.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEmailed DS-3032 October 20, 2011

Just an update...

I called NVC earlier today and the operator said that my DS-3032 is still outstanding and they are waiting for it. I replied that my wife emailed it on October 20 and received the automated acceptance email. She then put me on hold to speak with her supervisor. When she returned, she said that they are still reviewing my choice of agent email and once it is invoiced I will be able to pay it online.

Later on today...

I received 2 emails from NVC today at 3:51 and 4:14; respectively. The first email says that the choice of agent has been registered. The second email states that NVC is still awaiting the DS-3032. When I went to the NVC sign in website I was finally able to pay the bill.

Maybe there has just been a lag for a week or so. Hopefully everyones will start to clear up soon too. Do call NVC though and find out the particulars regarding your case. All the best.

Thank you for that update. Hopefully we will have some information soon.

Thanks :)

Ours was also sent on 10/20/2011. We have not heard anything after the acceptance message.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat types of questions will be asked about USC's previous marriage

It was in Costa Rica so doesn't directly apply, but each of us were asked during the interview:

1) How many times have you been married
2) How many kids
3) Where do the kids live

Thank you, I'll add a little more info about my son from previous and my future stepson. They are excited to meet each other.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat types of questions will be asked about USC's previous marriage

I was asked about my husbands X-wife(usc) during my K-1 interview.

- Do you know her?
- Whats her name?
- Have you met her?
- Have you spoken with her?
- Why did they get divorced?
- Do you know how long they were married?
- Do they still talk to or have contact with each other?

Thank you for the reply. I am trying to write out something like a detailed lifeline to prepare my wife to use for the interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat types of questions will be asked about USC's previous marriage
Recently, I have seen a couple of comments about the beneficiary being asked questions about the petitioners previous marriage. Can anyone give an example of types of questions they might ask?

UCS was married in 1999, divorced in 2000, no legal problems with that, no kids. Wife, also USC, decided she didn't want to another state where husband was working, thus the divorce.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBesides the financials,is there anything to worry about at the NVC stage?

No problems at all, as soon as you do get a date and it doesn't fit, call them to schedule. I found them amicable to work with as long as you have all the info, ie wife's passport number, exp date, etc.

Bob

Great. Thanks again!

Be very careful on anticipating Manila Embassy Robert. Your wife still has to go through the medical which may or may not put her in the sputum test waiting pattern (two month wait) Anything can happen so I'd hold off on the ticket purchasing for now. At best, you'd be getting a January interview date / post holidays so the prices will already be going down for travel. Keep your powder dry for now and focus on the medical would be my advice. Best of luck!!!
Bob

Thanks Bob. Did you have any problem rescheduling your interview date. If they give me early January date, I may need to reschedule for February.
