I have a really super easy recipe for Yorkshire puddings... none of that lard in the pans making a mess ####### laughing.gif they probably aren't very traditional but they taste pretty similar....

my hubby loves them and even eats them cold......

**the only thing I changed in the recipe is that I let the batter sit at room temperature for about an hour....

Yorkshire Pudding

1 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted butter
3 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Pam cooking spray

1. Pre-heat oven to 375.

2. Heat a clean, ungreased, empty muffin-pan in the oven while you mix together the milk, melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt.

3. This dough should be thin/runny.

4. When ingredients are mixed together, remove your muffin-pan from the oven, and spray each cup with Pam cooking spray (This step removes the messy'beef-fat method' used in traditional Yorkshire Puddings, and your Yorkshire Puddings will not spill the beef fat over into your oven as they puff up).

5. Once the pan is sprayed, fill each muffin-cup only 2/3 full of the Yorkshire pudding mixture, (they REALLY puff up).

6. Bake in your pre-heated oven for 40 minutes or until golden in colour and puffed up. (avoid peeking before the time is up).

7. Serve while still warm, best served with beef gravy.

8. These form a hollow centre as they bake.

9. These shrink as they cool, so enjoy them while still warm.

I might just try that recipe.... mine is here somewhere, but I like the idea of using Pam!!! Thanks!

The Madeleines sound yummy! Yesterday I purchased Gold Medal Best for Bread flour because we were having roast beef and I wanted to make Yorkshires. I'd been using the regular all purpose flour and they just hadn't been turning out. Well. I kid you not, the difference was amazing. I finally have normal Yorkshire Puds! Yum.

Congratulations on your bridal show wins, Sprailenes! Nice one!

OK...I had planned on making some Yorkshire on Weds for my family (my girls excluded of course) and nobody here has heard of them....damn, my flour better work cause geesh I'm trying to impress them with my vast knowledge of cooking....lol (reallycif that isn't a joke)!!

Gosh all this talk of flour...baking and well I think I just gained 10 lbs reading this. I love to bake, however, I just don't anymore. Well I do some, but not much. My 6 year old twin girls have Celiac disease and gluten is a bad thing for them. So needless to say to keep it fair in the house, I don't bake unless it is gluten free....expensive and not fun to make all the time.

But I do love to make them happy!!! I made their birthday cake last month...it was a huge castle..just for them. But of course we all helped chomp it down.

I honestly didn't notice the difference, but maybe that's because I was using a Williams-Sonoma recipe. I'm so happy that they turned out though, even though cleaning the pan was such a b*tch.

OK...I'll bite......da' heck are madeleines???? Sounds like they might just be yummy if they were gone so fast?!?!?!?

4-5 skinless/boneless chick breasts
1 can cranberries

Mix the cranberries, dressing, and soup mix together. Pour over top of chicken. Bake at 350 for about 45-50 mins (just as long as the chicken is done)

Hi Vicki,

Do you have to go to Fargo for your biometrics? I just went there myself. I was the only one and was super easy and the lady was very nice.
I made the trip in one day 4.5 hours driving there 15 mins to do the biometrics and 4.5 hour drive home. That really sucked!

Yes, I do have to go to Fargo as well. When I went the first time, it was me and my girls and our appointments were 1/2 hr apart. Since we were the only ones they took us in all at once...lol. We were out of there in less than 1 hr. So needless to say, I'm sure it will be the same thing again. The drive from here is about 8 hrs. We live in the far northwest side of ND..about 13 miles from Montana and 7 from Canada. Luckily I have relatives in Fargo and my stepson goes to school in Whapeton, so we can stay at least one night.
Good to see you on here again. Its been a long while since I have been on here, but I guess I haven't had any questions/problems until now!!

CanadaRemoving of Conditions
Hello everyone,
I am wondering about my situation. My greencard was approved in Dec '07, but my childrens not until Feb '08. They were all filed at the same time, but due to the fact that some of the paperwork was "not received" (ahem really "lost" at their end) I had to get additional paperwork to them before they would approve my children.
Well the time is soon approaching where I have to file my paperwork.
So do I file it all with mine even though theirs was not approved until about 3 mos later? Or do I file mine when I need to and them file theirs the 90 days prior to expiry? This is really going to be a pain simply because I live about 350 miles away from where I have to do my biometrics. So instead of 1 trip it just might be a 2 trip deal.
Enjoy the day!
Vicki

I talked to the officer and he did not say I had to pay duty. This could be is a USA resident was importing the vehicle I think..... But the 2.5% would be based on the value of the vehicle. Like 10,000 would be 250.00. I was told by the ND DOT that I would have to pay sales tax on my van when I registered it though...so?!?!?!

I had also called my local dealer and they were ever so helpful and gave me the Daimler number I already had....lol. So basically I just crossed my fingers at the POE and talked to the officer (a real sweetheart) about it. He took the time to come out to my van and take a look. I'm still debating whether or not I'm gonna sell it or import it. I'd really like a nice Hummer (can't ever see that happening...lol).

My husband just called Chrysler to get the Letter of Compliance for crossing the border.

Here is the information they requested before they would issue a letter:
- copy of current Canadian registration
- proof of immigration to the US
- our current address
- current KM's of the vehicle
- a return fax number

Fax number to send request: 248-512-8382

It takes approximately 7 business days.

We will also need to contact 1-800-992-1997 to apply for US warranty.

I have a couple questions:

1. regarding the proof of immigration to the US. What can we show them? Do we need to wait until our K3 is approved by Vancouver? I have a letter from the NVC stating that we have filed, but it doesn't prove we are actually moving at this point.

2. Any idea what they mean by applying for the US Warranty?

Thanks so much!

I had the same bloody problems with Daimler. I never did get anything from them. When I crossed the border with my 2001 Dodge Caravan I had no problems. I talked to the officer and he said I had 1 year to import my vehicle. He looked under the hood and right there on a sticker shows it meets USA Compliance. You might not need anything from Chrysler. Take a look under the hood and see if you have anything like that. Also, maybe contact the POE that you will be crossing at to see if they can offer you and advice.
I don't know what the problem is with DaimlerChrysler. It is like they have some top secret information that you can only have if you follow their rules. blink.gif blink.gif
Good luck!!!!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy I-751 package
unsure.gif

Hello everyone,

I have just gotten as much as I can together to send into CSC. I haven't gotten as much as I had hoped, but this is what I'm going to send in:

- copies of green cards (myself and twin daughters)
- bank records from when we opened the acct, middle, and the most recent statement
- joint tax transcripts from 07 and 08
- copy of car insurance and ownership in both our names
- copy of health insurance with our names and my kids on it
- copy of airline/car rental itinerary from our last vacation to Florida
- copy of Travel Club we purchased together that shows both our names
- many pics of us through the last 4 years (from when we met to now)

That is it. I wonder if I need any affidavits as well???

We do not have rent/mortgage or any utility/phone bills in "our" name. I live with my husband on the "family homestead" that is all under the families name, we do not pay rent or anything...just repair when required and make sure it is habitable for the next generation of farmers. All the utilities are and have been in just my husbands name for years, so we saw no need to change it.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Vicki

I travel back and forth all the time. No problems I just give them the letter with my card. I live a stone throw from the border, so I'm an old hat at crossing.
