I agree it would have been a very long drive. Some folks don't mind the drive though. Clears their head and enjoy the driving. Personally I love to fly.

Canadaalmost moving day.....
So tomorrow Canada Day is my last official day of work in Canada. Then after work we are packing me up and making the big trek to my fiances place 100 kms from here.
I won't be able to bring everything on my first trip across....so that will be left in the hands of my parents and my man. He will have to return for some of my stuff. I have already checked this out with Customs and there doesn't seem to be a problem. Guess I will just declare it when I originally cross on yikes...Monday. It has been such a long time coming and then its here....like now. My fingers are crossed that I will have one of the "friendly" officers at the port. I doubt I should have much of a problem since I cross there all the time, but I may just end up with someone in a cranky mood....lol.
I'll report my experience sometime in the next couple of weeks, cause we are flying to Vegas on the 6th and gettin' hitched on the 7th.

Happy Canada Day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (F) (F) (F) (F) (F)

CanadaPassport for minor
When I had my interview I took the paperwork showing that I had full custody. Other than that they didn't ask for anything else out of the norm. I honestly had no problems at all with their end. There is no way that they could contact the "donor" anyways......he is somehow "missing". Oh I could go on and on about that one!!! lol....

Anyways, if you can get a passport and show that your fiancee has full custody you should have no problems.

CanadaPassport for minor

It has been a huge pain trying to get a passport for my future step-daughter. Passport Canada FINALLY at least took the application once we made the trek to an actual Passport Canada branch (in Windsor). The application was signed by my fiancée and the father, now, Passport Canada has called my fiancée and told her that they are cannot reach the father. Well, he rarely answers the phone when my fiancée calls and definitely is not going to pick up the phone for an unknown caller.

Will we still be able to get a K-2 if she can't get a passport? This is getting ridiculous. My fiancée has sole custody, and the father hasn't even bothered to see his daughter in about four months or longer. HE moved two and half hours away and doesn't use his visitation, not even when he literally lived around the corner. We want to live together 7.5 miles away and we are faced with all this #######. They were never even married, why does he have this much say in his daughter's life, especially since he doesn't seem to care one bit about it!?

Does anyone know how I can go about adopting her so we don't have to deal with that putz?

Hi there,
I had to get Passports for my 2 daughters that I have sole custody with. I wrote passport Cda a letter and sent them a copy of the ppwk showing that I have complete custody. I explained to them that I do not even know where the girls father is and the only phone number I have for him is his mothers and she does not even know where he is (this is what she says). I actually phoned Passport Cda prior to doing this so I didn't run into the problem you are having. I did not have any problems at all obtaining a Passport for my girls.
Gosh I really hope you can get this going because without a passport you can not get a Visa for your child.
BTW I was never married to my girls "donor" either. He hasn't even called in about 1 year.....they have stopped asking about him. His loss.....my fiance's gain. You should talk to a US Attorney to do a step-parent adoption. I have heard it is not all that difficult, but you will lose the child support payments. Well for me I don't get that anyways simply because nobody knows where he is even his family...lol.
Good luck with everything and keep us posted as to what happens. I'd be really interested especially what you find out about adoption because I know eventually we are going that route.
Right now I'm "officially" crossing on July 2 with my Visas and getting married July 7 in Vegas where it will be hotter than Hades. Guess we will have a clothing optional wedding due to the heat!!!! j/k
Ron (my fiance) does eventually want to adopt my girls....we just wish we could get some $$$ out of the "donor"...lol.

CanadaMedical Review - Calgary
gee, what a nightmare. You'd think from the amount of $$$ they make and as little time as it takes they would at least be somewhat decent. But...saying that...if he is the only dude in town you are kinda screwed.

Fortunately I had a super nice doc in Saskatoon. He also sees other clients as well, but he took the time and talked to me and my children in a very pleasant manner. He didn't check me for any "bull frogs" (OMG...lmao). (jerk)

Wish your experience could have been better!!!! The rest of your journey will be!

CanadaMarried girl here!!!!!
So we just got back from enjoying the incredible HEAT in Vegas. OMG!!! I never sweated so much in my life. Just lucky you can buy a beer or beverage of choice at any corner there. We got home today at 4 A.M. and I'm pretty sure I'm asleep as I type this.

The whole Vegas thing was great if you like standing in line for 3 hrs to get your marriage license and then waiting for a limo to pick us up that didn't arrive. So we cabbed it to the chapel and discovered there were about 100 or so people pissed off at the whole deal cause they weren't getting married on time and they had to cab it there as well. Anyways, we did finally tie the knot about 3 hrs later than planned!!!! Again it was hot in the chapel due to the A/C not working and too many sweaty hot bodies in the chapel.

OK....we at least have a wedding story or four. We had a blast in Vegas. Its just not for us northern folk in the summer though.

Now we start the whole AOS process. Where do I start???

Hey, how do I post a pic in here?

I am such a beginner on the computer....::::sigh::::

...maybe I should just go to bed!!!!!

CanadaAOS question....
I gave them the forms and well that is just not good enough (this after filing out 1000 forms on our names, b/d, medical history and blah blah blah blah)...they say I need more and I need the results of the titre that was done for my medical. OK doesn't that form cover it??? No they say. So now they want to get ahold of the DR. that did my medical and have him fax the results of the titre test. BUT they are gonna give me approval with my word of mouth that I did have chicken pox as a child. OH and they are also gonna give me my approval after I get and pay for another MMR shot. Anyone ever overdose on that shot? Just wondering since I had one done in April. OK so I agree and I get my transfer done. I really So today my 2 girls and I go to the local Civil Surgeon to get our immunization records transfered from the Canadian ones to the USA ones...first of all I don't even get that.
just had to ###### about that.
Now for my little girls. The Dr. will NOT sign theirs off because they will have their last HEP B shot until the end of October. #######? Anyone hear of this? I do know he is probably right, but geesh! So do you think my option now would be just to apply for Advance Parole for them and then apply for their AOS after I get the friendly young Dr. to sign off on the transfer of paper??? Should I go to another Civil Surgeon??? I have another one in the area that will see the girls on Saturday at the emergency clinic....lets hope their aren't too many emergencies on Saturday that are more important than us? just kidding. I'm actually going to call them tomorrow to see what they say on what the other Doc did.
Oh and keep in mind all this today cost me already 315.00 and I didn't even get a sucker!!!

On another note...I'm trying to get my wedding photo smaller so I can put it on here. OK...not that computer savvy here.

Thanks for listening and if you all have any suggestions....please feel free to put me in my place. I might just put this on the AOS board as well.

CanadaAnother Affidavit of Support Question
From what I got....the co-sponsor has to make enough to support their family plus you. So if they are a family of 2 and you added to it would be 1....the co-sponsor would have to be able to support 3 in total. Hope this makes sense.
Anyways this is what I got from doing mine!!!

CanadaI want to go back
OK...I'm not a huge meat eater...but since I met my man I have eaten pheasant, deer, and a lot of buffalo. The buffalo is good....the pheasant well it is such a pretty bird, I hated to eat it...but I did and it wasn't bad. The deer well-----I love deer running through the fields....so if it is spiced up to the max and I pretend it came from the grocery store I can eat it in chili.
I honestly haven't found much difference between the meats (chicken/beef) here than I did at home. I really don't eat much of either here or there!!
But I love my American man and he loves me. He is a farmer and in no way could I see us moving to Canada. Its so close anyways.
Hope everyone is having a super day!!!

CanadaI want to go back
I have only moved 7 miles south of the Cda/USA border, so of course it really doesn't seem all that different. Now that being said....I have been in the USA now for 1 month without returning....I miss my shopping. I love the stuff down here....but the produce in the local supermarket at home is WAYYYY better. So could be I'm just missing my good veggies!!!
