Card Production Ordered!!!!

Was just about to leave after a TERRIBLE day at work and I paused to check the USCIS website. I can't even say how nice it was to get some good news finally!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNew processing times - is the USCIS lying?
I called the CSC the other day to make sure that the "evidence" we sent a couple weeks ago had been received and was with our case. After being on hold for 20+ minutes I got an IO on the phone and after explaining the situation, she first said, "Well, that takes at least 5 weeks to process, there won't be a decision yet." I again explained that I wasn't expecting a "decision" on the case, just wanted to check to be sure they had the necessary information for our file, since they don't provide any sort of receipt for the evidence. At that point she begrudgingly asked for my husband's Alien number. When she pulled the file up she also tried to pull the "I can't disclose any information other than to the person on file." I firmly let her know that I have never had a problem obtaining information on our case, since it is indeed our case. I also have signed and submitted information to the USCIS which I am liable for, so there is no justification for not providing information. She paused, asked for my name and birthday, and said "Well, I guess I can release information, since without your signature there wouldn't even be anything to file." What she told me next still seems hard to believe, but she said "Well, you'll be happy to know that your case was approved on the 5th." She also said it would probably take another several weeks for the system to be updated and the notice of card production to be sent out

To be honest though, as my husband said when I passed on the news, I'll believe it when the card is in hand.

Can you explain where the RFE comes in along the way of step 1 and 2? I got the RFE with a different LIN receipt number. Some people on this board mentioned something about the IO found out the files were lost when trying to order the actual card. It really doesn't make any sense to me.

From what I understood from the IO I talked to this is how the RFE came in between the 2 steps. Our application had gotten to the point where they were going to order the card production. When they were at the point where they put our case information into the older system (that requires the different receipt #) they looked into our physical file and "discovered" that there wasn't any supporting documentation. So they send out the RFE to get that information back to have in the file. And then when that evidence is received, the card production should be ordered relatively quickly.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNew processing times - is the USCIS lying?
In my phone conversation with the shockingly helpful and nice IO officer at CSC the other day, I asked her why our RFE had a different Receipt # and why the RFE notice was printed on such crappy paper that didn't match any other correspondence from the USCIS. She said that the system that they use to actually order the cards is an older system and isn't really compatible with the new system. Therefore, they have to issue a new Receipt #. This is why I was unable to track anything on the new Receipt # on the RFE either online or through their automated phone system (also accounts for the crappy, unofficial looking RFE). The approval and ordering is actually done in the old system, under the different Receipt #. It isn't until someone goes in and manually syncs the information from the two systems that you will actually be able to see that your card has been ordered online. An IO can access this old system and can see whether or not the card has been ordered. She also said that it has to be an IO, the customer service people do not have access to that older system. This is why they can tell you that you were approved before you receive the email or can see the change online.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNew processing times - is the USCIS lying?
Hi all - this is my second post to the forum, but my hubby and I have been following for a few months.

Here is our timeline for the 751:

Filed 3/13/07 (at NSC)
NOA 3/27/07
Biometrics 4/17/07
Notice of transfer from NSC to CSC 3/27/08
Request for Evidence 4/14/08

Could someone please add us to the list?

Yesterday I called the USCIS after receiving the RFE on monday. Shockingly, I actually got an immigration officer on the phone instead of another useless customer service rep. Even more shocking she was kind and helpful. She told me that our evidence that was sent with or initial filing was lost in the transfer from NSC to CSC. And it wasn't until they were going through the steps to actually put the card through for production that they discovered they don't have anything. When I asked her what sort of delay we should expect she said currently things have been getting processed 2 weeks to 30 days after they receiving the new evidence. I pressed for more information since we are trying to decide whether to make the 4 hour drive to our local field office to get a stamp in the hub's passport. She then told me that we shouldn't have to do that because they will automatically send out another letter for another year of extension if the case hasn't been processed yet. I actually laughed out loud when she said this (couldn't help myself). I told her that I have not heard of ANYONE being sent a second letter of extension, and that EVERYONE I have heard about has had to get their passport stamped. She paused and said "Well, that doesn't make us look very good, does it."

New to this forum....Have joined out of complete and utter frustration with the USCIS and this process. We need to be added to the list.

Filed 751 3/13/07
NOA 3/27/07
Biometrics 4/17/07

Yesterday we received a request for evidence (dated 4/14/08), and I am wondering if anyone else has also received one recently. I am confused as the Receipt # on the Request for Evidence does not match the Receipt # on any of our other correspondence from the USCIS regarding the removal of our conditions. If I search the "new" Receipt # on uscis.gov it does not find anything. When I check our case status with our "old" Receipt # it does not appear to have been touched since 4/2/08.

My fiance has just moved to a better home in Addis. I saw that her petition got approved yesterday and USCIS still has her old address. Is it best to wait and let NVC know after I get approval notice mailed to me, or should I do something now?

Thanks alot,

CanadaOne simple tax question

Okay, I have one simple tax question, as I'm doing my daughter's final tax filing in Canada. Her father-in-law is doing her tax filing in the US, even though she had no earnings there as of Dec 31.

I'm doing it through Turbo Tax and of course, on the first page I've entered that as of Dec 31,2012 that she was a non-resident of Canada. Then on another page it asks about address, which we're keeping the mailing addy in Canada in care of myself, but that her place of residence in the US.

So here's where I'm not sure what to put.

It asks this:
I was a non-resident of Canada
I was a deemed non-resident of Canada
I was a deemed resident of Canada because I stayed for 183 days or more in 2012
I was a deemed resident of Canda for other reasons

For most of 2012 she was a resident. Do I just put non-resident or deemed resident and which one would apply??

Anyone who has filed already or done it last year......... what did you put?? I'm hoping to avoid calling again and waiting on the line.

Thanks for any help

Since she was a resident of Canada for the greater part of the 2012 tax year, I believe she is considered a Canadian resident for the entire year for tax purposes. Because I don't have 5 posts under my name I cannot post links to the CRA website pages on this subject. But try going to the CRA website and doing a search for "IT-221R3" which will bring up a tax interpretation bulletin on determining residency status. Hope this helps!

Canadainterview done!!!!!!!!!!!
g'day everyone

OK..I only have a short time today on here, but I wanted to let everyone know I had a great interview in Vancouver (yes, I will post details at a later time)

The only thing I had a problem with is my fiance did not give me his original divorce decree. The interview went extremely well and had no problems. This was on the 15th so I now have my fiance's certified copy of the divorce decree that I have to send the Consulate. They indicated that that was the only thing I need....that everything looked good and sent me off with a letter of instructions as to how to mail the decree/passports/prepaid envelope to them. Once they get that they told me it would be a 1 day turnaround....so I should have the nice new shiny K1's in my hand the end of May.

I truly found that everything went really smooth...the security guards were awesome (apparently they think I have a twin???)....

Well got loads to do around the house and I will get back on here and put something about the whole deal in here.

Have a super weekend!!!

You do not need the x-ray. I was worried about that too. Changing planes...carrying all my "stuff" etc. You need the x-ray for the POE.

Canadaentering USA while having pending k1 visa

Hmm, thats what my fiance told me (did believe you dear! i just wanted feedback from others! *giggles*)

my only fear is that my proof of ties list is growing thinner... i wont have a lease anymore at the end of june, and as for my work, when you leave, even for less than a week, they request that you resigned but they take you back np after ( and loose your seniority and such). I will have med insurance and a return ticket in hand ( both ending before sept1) and i hope that will be enough.. this is all so stressful o.0

thanks for the feedback :)

edit: ah i knew i forgot something: should i mention right away to the custom border officer i have a pending visa for k1? or just simply answer their questions?

personally, I do not volunteer information....I only give what they ask. jmo

I would do as Flames suggested. Be prepared to show your ties to Canada. I have crossed a zillion times after applying for my K1 and I did not have any problems. I never mentioned though that I was going to see my fiance.........I always stated boyfriend and I always told them when I would be back in Canada. One thing for sure is I did not want to jeopardize my entry priveledges.

OK...so I emailed the Consulate in Vancouver and they said "yes the K1 and K2 Visa's are approved and are being prepared to be sent out today via Canada Post Express Mailer".

Now I'm checking with Cda Post and it still shows nothing in their system...go figure.

I guess I will have to wait until Monday to check to see if they have updated the system. Or gee....I just might get my envelope in the mail before they update the bloody thing.

thanks :blush: every time i hear the door my heart races, but it's never the mailman, hah. i wrote them a short email, asking if they have received it and if it has been processed, kinda playing the dummy card, but i just want to know. every weekend when my husband comes we think it's the last weekend, but it never is. maybe this weekend...

lmao.....I just did the same thing. I sent them an email. Unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere and we don't have "mail delivery"...so at least I'm not waiting to pounce on some unsuspecting mailmain!!! lol

I think by reading all these posts that the Consulate officer asks different questions to everyone.....depending on the officer I guess. I wish it was all just standard and they had to ask certain questions and that is it. But then what fun would it be??!?!?!!!???
I was given my passports back and had to send them in with the divorce decree. The Consulate officer said everything is in order and they just needed the divorce decree.....so as far as I'm concerned it is approved pending the final processing. It gives me something to worry about is all. I was kinda hoping they would have done it. I guess my case isn't any more a rush than the rest of them. (yup, still feeling sad that I hadn't gotten it right in the first place......urgh!!!)

i'm waiting for mine too.....i had to send some more ppwk into Vancouver and I know they got the envelope from Cda post on the 25th. I have also developed the OCD thing with checking....lmao

When I had my interview in Vancouver, I did not (bang my head) have my fiances original divorce decree (duh), so I obtained a certified copy from the powers that be and sent it off. The Consulate said it would be a 1 day process at their end and then they would send it out. Thank goodness I wrote the express mailer return number down so I could check 50000000 times a day to see if they sent it.

I can't relax either........... :unsure: :unsure: :unsure:

thanks for all the great answers...

I did try the numbers for Daimler. But now I will try and see if they will accept some of the correspondence from the US Consulate etc....never thought of that.

I guess I just don't see why anyone has to pay tax on something they own and are bringing them as their own personal goods....yup...its a racket!!!

I had thought about selling my van, but now that there will be 6 of us we definitely need the van so we can all fit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~the joys of moving.
OK, one piece of good news is that I have sold my home here. That was a worry, but yeah yeah yeah....no more.
thanks again
Canadavehicle question
Hey there everyone!!!!!!!
Happy Hump Day!
So anyways, now that I'm getting down to the last details before driving across the border on my projected date of July 2 I have a question.
I contacted Daimler Chrysler to get a compliance letter for my van, but of course they won't give that out unless I can show them proof of immigration...so needless to say I sent a letter and a phone call to explain my immigration paperwork is in a nice sealed envelope and can't be opened until I arrive at the border...and then that is when I also need the letter from them. They told me they could not help me.
So I'm wondering what top secrets are included in this compliance letter that make it harder than getting a K1 Visa????
Has anyone had any luck with this?
Oh and I talked to the ND DMV today and they told me I would have to pay tax on my vehicle that I have owned for 3 years.....da heck is that all about. Apparently someone should have told me I had to be rich to marry/immigrate to the USA. Geesh
OK and not to mention the new fees for AOS.......which I'm busting a gut to try and get all the ppwk done immediately following our wedding on July 7 so I can avoid the new arm and leg fees. I need my arms and legs.
well that is all that I have on my mind for now!!!
anyone? ideas? suggestions?
