IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFinally!!
Hello everybody! I just want to share my overflowing happiness to everyone! I received the MAGIC EMAIL from CRIS and our case was approved!!! kicking.gif God is really good and mercifull!! Just yesterday I was depressed because I don't know what's happening with our case at Vermont. I went to work and as I'm writing this, I'm on my breaktime. I just called my hubby few minutes before I opened my email and he said that according to my zodiac sign, I am going to have positive things going on this year...it made me smile and atleast lighten up my mood a little bit. Then , I opened my email and there it was!!!! the email from CRIS!!! I'm soooo happy!!!!

Thank you everybody for being a support system especially at this time when we are all far away from our loved ones!!! Keep praying and I hope everybody gets approval soon! God bless and best of luck to all of us!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032
we need an agent to receive all the paperworks and instructions regarding the processing of the application. There is an option on the ds3032 that if you do not appoint anybody and wishes to receive all future correspondence, then you may do so considering that your husband is deployed. You mentioned that your mom-in-law is willing but you also need to understand that she will process the paying of the fees and submit the necessary documents when NVC asks for those if you appoint her. Your other option is to have a lawyer which may actually cost you more.

My husband (beneficiary) appointed me(petitioner) as his agent of choice. yes.gif

Best of luck to all of us!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions, questions, and more questions
Cant answer all your questions bu here are some...

After the AOS fee bill is PAID, print the barcoded sheet and there's an address there on the coversheet itself where to send the AOS packet. At the same site where you printed the barcoded coversheet there is a link that you can click and will bring you to the NVC website where you can find the list of documents that needs to go with the coversheet like federal tax return for 3 recent tax years with w-2s, paystubs for last 6 months, letter of employment and the filled out I-864, your own coverletter just to let the reviewer easily know what's in your package ...this is what th NVC live operator told me to do. I did'nt use the envelope that they provided 'coz it's too small for all the documents to go with i-864. I made 2 extra copies of the whole packet, 1 I'll be sending to my husband and 1 for myself just to be sure we have enough copies in case anything happens.

Do the same with your IV bill and packet...pay it online, print the barcoded coversheet when status shows PAID and click the link again for instructions.

I understand how this whole process is overwhelming you ( it confused me too before blink.gif ) but just be calm and follow the directions carefully and you'll be fine. hope this helps!

P.S. I do lots of reading of threads here on VJ .....and asking questions too! yes.gif

Middle East and North AfricaSafety and tips for Jordan
As I was reading one of the posts a memory popped in my head from my first trip. You will probably have to pay double at the hotels...at least the cheaper local ones. As I have seen online the larger big name hotels are very expensive. If you do not have the blue Jordanian family notebook showing that you two are married, then you will have to pay for 2 separate rooms. That happened to us in Petra. We were married, but the blue notebook wasn't ready before we traveled to Petra. They even sent us to the local police station to have them give us a paper showing we were married, but of course to no avail since they have nothing to do with it. It was a huge hassel. So we wound up paying for the extra room, but slept in the same room anyway. Just FYI.

In my stays in Jordan I have always felt safe and never threatened. It is much different for a woman though. But everyone I came in contact with, especially when they figured out I was American, was very friendly. Also, be aware in several spots like entering into Aqaba and spots near the Jordan Valley, there are check points and you will have to show your ID. So make sure you have your passport handy on all trips to show your ID to the military and/or police. Also...do not take pictures of military or military protected areas. On our last trip to Aqaba we went through the military checkpoint, we stopped at the visitor center to use the bathroom. There was a beautiful tree with flowers on it and I started taking pictures. The military at the checkpoint stopped us on the way out and made us delete all pictures I had taken since it is a secure area. Little scary, but they were really nice about it.

Take care when crossing the street, as others have mentioned the driving is insane there. Make sure you cross quickly and when it is safe! Also, since you are a man, just make sure you take care when you interact with women. Do not shake hands, hug, etc. Oh & no kissing your fiance in public. Holding hands is ok, but no PDA as that is highly intolerable and frowned upon. Again, all of this is from experience as we got in trouble for kissing in a remote corner of the Citadel in Amman (lol). As I replied in your other post, please let me know if you have any questions...I'm glad to help if I can!

Hi Ladies!! Happy April!

I sent in our I-751 packet on Friday and it should be delivered to VSC today. I am ready, but not yet ready for this process at the same time!

We have booked our tickets for a (hopefully) surprise trip to Jordan...we want to just show up at Raad's mom's door and surprise the mess out of her!! I'm already counting down the days...164...so ready for our next vacation. Praying we get ROC approval before we go in 6 months! But from the looks of things, people are getting approved within 3-5 months.

Beth, good to see you here! I'm not a newbie either, lol, but terminated my previous account and just started up a new one. :)

Have a great Monday everyone!

Middle East and North AfricaPlanning a trip to Jordan

Does anyone off hand know the sales tax in Jordan?

There is not any sales tax unless possibly in the big hotels and maybe McDonalds...etc. But all the local shops, taxis, restaurants, sites to visit...the price is what they say it is, there is not tax added on. I think my husband told me that in Jordan if you own a business and it makes below a certain amount per year, they are not taxed by the government, therefore they do not charge you tax. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Happy travels.

Middle East and North AfricaPlanning a trip to Jordan
Hi...I was in Jordan for my second time in September/October 2010. As I recall, unless the prices have gone up then the past 5 months, Petra was about 21 JD for non Jordanians. Like many have said, Aqaba is an amazing place and I would definitely recommend it. We found a furnished apartment for about 30 JD a day there and you can either take a taxi or your rental car for short drive...there is a small aquarium run by the University and it is pretty cheap to get in. And not far from the aquarium are several public beaches (before you reach KSA) where you can just walk out and go snorkeling. I brought my fins & mask with me so that would be extremely cheap and you can see some cool fish.

There is also Umm Qais, which is minimally priced, Pella (near the Jordan Valley) that is free, Jerash in the north, Ajloun Castle. There is an amusement park in Amman that is about 10JD where you can go and ride a ferris wheel and other small rides. I would also recommend going to the Dead Sea...you can pay a few JD to get in to I think it is called Amman Beach...they have large umbrellas, showers and outdoor grills...you can take sleeping mats and some food and sleep on the beach of the Dead Sea. Waking up to sunrise on the Dead Sea is amazing. You can also visit Bethany which is the spot where Jesus was Baptized and I think that may be around 10 JD for non Jordanians.

Although I haven't been...these places are on the itinerary when we go again this September. The Shomari Zoo/Preserve, Mt. Nebo (near the Dead Sea, where Moses was shown the promise land) and Madaba. I know there are some amazing mosaics preserved in Madaba.

There are lots of taxis and large buses that you can take to all of these locations for not much at all. I know when we were there it cost around 350 JD to rent a car for 3 weeks. But the first time I went we used public transportation. It is a bit of a hassle to wait at the bus stops, but at least they know where they are going and won't get lost! Of course I had a native Jordanian taking me around...I would say that really helps. My husband was able to go ahead of me some places and purchase tickets so that we could get the Jordanian rate. :) I remember at Ajloun Castle this past time I hate to really drum up what little Arabic I know to make sure they didn't suspect! Lol.

If you need any other information please let me know. I've been in Jordan a total of 6 weeks and going back for another 3 in September. We have friends and family there so if you need help just let me know!! I get excited about Jordan so I tend to ramble...excuse this long message!

You are Moroccan? Did you come here on a K1 with an American woman and recently got divorced?

if i came on a k1, i'm gonna know the procedure? and i don't have to ask.if you can't help be quite

He or she was asking because if you did come here on a K1, married a USC, then divorced her and went back to Morocco to marry a Moroccan woman, it will raise suspicions. The shorter the previous marriage (esp if the divorce came soon after citizenship), the harder it will be to get a visa for your fiancee. That's not anyone here being judgemental, it's reality. We need information so we can give you the best advice.

Relax - if people here had a problem with people from other countries, they wouldn't be on this forum. And the person you're being nasty to is either Moroccan, or married to one.

Peace

thanks verybody for you support

i came here with a tourist visa . i met my wife we got married.and we've been married for seven years and three month. we've been seperated for 1 year separation , i got my citizenchip 2 years ago

Then it shouldn't be an issue. I hope your fiancee gets one of the nicer ones for her interview! Best of luck.

Hello everybody,I hope somebody can help me .my situation is : I m 34 years old I'm us citizen from morocco. Went back home to get married with Moroccan girl. So my famille show me this girl by the way that 's the most common way to marry there. She's 19 we get engaged a week after that. I came back to the state I filed for k1 approximately month and 1/2 between engagement and filling.everything is fine between me and my fiancée we talk everyday on the phone letter ...my k1 still pending I didn't know about redflags before . So what should I do ? Withdraw my petition to avoid the denial ? Or take my chances with k1.
One more thing there is 2month gap between my divorce and my engagement. Thanks for your help in advance

Also want to add.... I'm sure his identity card has expired.... I guess he'd have to go up there, in order to re-do fingerprints to renew that as well.... and register there (which he hasn't done yet). Sounds like he should plan on making a day of it....

do not worry about it.they can do it in the same day. if not they will mail it to him. they just gonna stamp it ( entended for 3 years) .dor the id he needs birth certificate from morocco. it's gonna cost him about $80 including $10 membership. i did this 2 years ago. or you can call the embassy?
