Of course I've been checking my emails since I turned in our last forms last week. Well I checked my email a couple times today and NOTHING! I called NVC around 4:45 pm EST to ask the operators what was the status of my case, and he gave me the great news that OUR CASE HAD BEEN COMPLETED TODAY!!! YAAYY! He said that the e-mail should be updated at some point today or tomorrow. He also informed me that there were no more interview slots available for the Kingston Embassy for Sept, and that they begin scheduling interviews the 2nd week of each month. So clearly, I'm going to start bugging them the 1st week of the month because I want an interview in early October! I feel so excited and blessed that this part is over with--only 1 more hurdle to go! Good luck to those still waiting! star_smile.gif

LOL same thing here i called and they had no more sept. dates smile.gif I hoping for oct. I hope we both get an oct. date smile.gif

Well good luck to you too! star_smile.gif This really is coming to an end....whewwww

So, my case was recently completed on 8/20. The NVC operators that I have spoken to said that they do not schedule interviews until the 2nd week of each month. Is this true? Who can I call to bug about an interview date--the embassy in Kingston or NVC? I don't want to sit by idley for the next 2 weeks. crying.gif Also, I never received anything in the mail or email saying that the case was complete. Is this ok? Is my husband going to need some kind of verification because other than being confirmed by several different operators and the AVR, I got nothing. unsure.gif

We never wanted to sit around and wait for that long either after our case was complete on July 10th. But, they said the same thing - the second week of each month scheduling for the follow month... Congrats on case complete though... If ur interested in expediting interview, read here: TIPS ON HOW TO EXPEDITE INTERVIEW DATE I posted the thread...so, you'll read interesting facts from personal experience wink.gif
And no, you'll not receive anything in mail, stating ur case is complete... only confirmation is AVR... and then e-mail with interview package... good luck smile.gif good.gif

Cool...thanks! And congrats on the visa! good.gif

Hi guys...our petition was approved on 4/20 and forwarded to NVC...well they generated the DS 3032 and AOS bill on 5/6, and my husband sent them an e-mail requesting the Choice of Agent to be me on 5/12...we STILL haven't received word yet that it's been accepted! mad.gif I asked an NVC rep a couple of days ago what the problem was, and she confirmed that they had received it, but that it would just have to be processed in the order it was received! I'm wondering if it would have been quicker to just mail it in! blink.gif I paid the AOS fee online 2day so...we'll see how that goes. Dear Mrs Hamilton...i'm sorry to hear about this. Believe me ....very sorry.

Sorry more to report our denial as well. Several problems.....on the denial letter, they checked the box for 212(a)(1)..health related grounds, nothing more. (!????????????????????????) on another form, a BLUE SLIP.... they ask him to return with police certificate box checked and at the bottom handwritten: I-601, 2 G325a forms, hardship letter "suggested joint sponsor earning 70K+". that request makes me think they thought he was applying for his 2 17year old sons, which he is not doing....they'll be 18 before this is ever completed. SO...we wonder about the medical report, very worried....as he had to have a blood transfusion during the past year....also, the people at the Hope clinic are not cool..don't trust them, don't trust the report they sent, and since they won't provide copies to us...we are now retesting with a private doctor...God be merciful that they have made some grievous errors!! Still waiting on the expunged police record...for what it's worth.

So, i'm with you girl...and thinking of my next trip ASAP , and maybe TO hell with this whole "coming to America' ####### and go live with the love of my life ...cause it's all too short to give it all up to the bureaucrats.

So....here's a tip: Check out my friend D-Major on you tube...great song called Real Friends. Makes me feel good, makes me appreciate each of you out there on your journeys....most much happier than me and SisMrsH....Big up mi real friends! Trod on...............culture1

Wow Culture! I'm so sorry! I don't understand though--they won't allow him a visa because they feel he is a public health threat? And were you missing documents as well? (police certificate, I-864)? I don't know what to tell you, but if you are eligible for a waiver I would definitely get on it pronto. I will pray for you. heart.gif

Mrs H...all I can recommend now is that you two continue to be open and honest with each other about how you want your relationship to be. You're going to have to work out a visitation schedule that works for you all, and just to be honest, it's going to be SOOO difficult emotionally, especially the 1st year or so--but rest assured if the love that you two share is true, it can be done! IMO this will be a testament to the validity & strength of your relationship. And to be real with you, taking a break from VJ will do wonders for you emotionally. Well, it did for me. I took a break from here for almost 2 years...seeing the approvals and adjustments can be extremely difficult and make things worse IMO...I don't know, you'll just have to figure out what works/doesn't work for you. Please, do post the conversation for all here to read and enjoy.

If you have this "conversation" printed, send it off to the Manila Embassy asap, overnighted and certified, since it has her acknowledging she only married your brother-in-law for immigration benefits!

What more proof would you or he want she used him?

Now, since she's going to the interview to be able to get approval to come here and eventually marry your bro-in-law, if she does get here and he doesn't marry her through the duration of her visa, she would have no other option but to go back, since the original intention of her visa getting approval is based on her marrying him.

Let her come, then do not marry her.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTo Lie or not to Lie?

Thank you dmartmar for the positive feedback. I appreciate the fact that you took the time out to reply to the most ridiculous question you have ever read.

The bottom line is; if you want to be successful in getting your woman over here so you can marry and have her by your side legally, do not lie, much less to a federal agency.

Lying and getting caught would incriminate both you AND her.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressending back

YOU MADE YOUR FIANCEE LEAVE EVERYTHING AND NOW YOU ARE SENDING HER BACK, NOT EVEN GIVING HER TIME.

Time for what? The guy's not happy whatsoever! In fact, he had doubts even before she got here, when on another post he was questioning about both not speaking, nor understanding each other's language! Not only that, he seems to be the one trying all along to make things work, while she never reciprocated.

Clearly he thought he had a future with this girl and I think that's where "hurt" comes in.

I totally agree with you 100%.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressending back

ok the tough decision has been made, now the question, how do I send someone back to their home country? Do I pay for it, do I write or call someone?

Just as it was your responsibility to bring her over, it is also your responsibility to send her back, although you cannot make her leave. All you can do is offer her a one-way return ticket and say you wish her the best. What she does after you give her the plane ticket is up to her. If I was you, I'd drive her to the airport and make sure she either went through the gate or got on the plane.

Since you haven't gotten married yet, I would inform the Agency of your situation leading up to your current decision of sending her back to her home country. That way, you free yourself of any responsabilities you may have related to her. Make sure you include giving her a ticket, driving her to the airport and seeing to it that she actually boarded the plane.

And looking at the pics, she doesn't seem happy in any one of them.

Was this a pre-arranged marriage? Sure seems like it!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureskeerrchiinnggg!! The price of moving to the US!??

I don't want to sound a bit like a synical old fool here, but I guess that I'm only starting to realise how much all of this K1 visa thing is costing!

Original I-129f application = $150-$200 (can't remember exactly)

Medical for K1 visa = $170

visa at embassy = $ 60

waiver (I-601) that I had to file = $ 250

now I find out that the I-485 form AND biometrics are gonna cost $ 250 (or thereabouts)

So it's looking at nearly $1000 so far, that's a heck of a lot of money for the US DHS eh??? Somone's living in the lap of luxury over there!

Are you complaining or informing us?

How much would you spend to date someone here in the US for a couple years before getting married? Probably a lot more.

So basically, you're saying that it's just much cheaper to marry and bring foreigners over, than date and marry someone here already.

I'd rather date someone already here for a while, regardless of the money spent, than take a chance and marry someone from overseas w/o barely knowing him/her.

Just take a look at Nate's post, with that gal from Vietnam. Big mistake! Costly; perhaps?

My concern is what if it doesn't work out. What do we do then? What do I do then being that I'm from Canada and I'll be in the States? Do I have to file for a divorce or is this situation different? What paperwork is there?

If you're unsure, don't proceed. Better to be safe now, than sorry later. Marrying, then things not working out will further complicate things.

I think they'll pay more attention to her, instead of you or the other man.

I wouldn't marry a woman who is cheating on her husband. How would you feel if eventually down the line you'd be the cheated husband instead? How can you even trust her?

Seems like she has an affinity for Englishmen. Be careful she doesn't dump you over another one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust got real bad news

I do think that Jim needs to look back and remember what exactly went on....once a divorce is properly filed papers get dealt within the court. If he signed divorce papers then they would have been sent to the court not to his wife.

Exactly my point!

And why would she file for divorce and have him sign papers, when I would assume she knowingly beforehand knew how much everything would come out to anyway? Why would she go through all this hassle, have him sign the papers and once back in her hands, not submit them?

Hmmm...
dmartmarMale02006-03-09 02:21:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust got real bad news

From what Jim told me, he got the divorce papers that were signed by both of them and notarized, then he mailed that stuff to her (and that was while he was deployed to Iraq about 1 1/2 years ago) and she never turned the papers in............

Why didn't Jim turn the papers in himself, instead of sending them back to her so she could do it? He already had both signatures on the papers and since he was the one who had originally initiated divorce proceedings anyway, she was out of the picture already!

If he was outside of the US when he filed, sent the papers for her to sign (which she did), then got them back from her, there was no reason for him to re-mail them back to her so she could turn them in. The same way he mailed them to her for her signature, once back in his hands he himself should've instead submitted them to court.

What I don't understand is; if he began proceedings, either he himself, his atty. or someone had to file in court in the US, which leads me to believe the court at that point had to be waiting for the paperwork signed by both to be turned in, in order to finalize the divorce.

This doesn't make sense!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs the beneficiary able to work at a government job?

If the beneficiary is not a member of the communist party but works for the communisty party; would it affect the approval of a K-1 visa petition? Her position in the company is not important. She hands out computers, money & food to the poor. Thanks in advance.

Yes it would, based on her affiliation alone.

If all she does is hand out computers, money & food to the poor with this company, the same could be done with numerous other non-communist, non-profit orgs. as well.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about the new law

Well I could be wrong but it sounded like you were trying to say I'm reckless or irresponsible or something like that. And of all the relationships you'll find here on VJ, mine is one of the ones you sure can't come down on... so if you like to hear stories about people that don't know each other very well and decide to get married, so that you can criticize them, I'm not what you're looking for.

So in other words, you're basically more worried about how much longer it might take you to get here, than actually knowing about your fiance's past. How long have you known each other and dated for? Did you meet online? Tell me all about it! I love to read stories like yours.

Better be honest and tell the fiance the truth before she eventually finds out either through the abuot to be passed law or after marriage, which could make things worse by hiding stuff from her!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdisappointed

HI there, i'm so sad and disappointed now. Since i have just started finding out about what a K1 visa is, i have been reading around in different sites and just now i asked about it in a forum and this is the reply i got: "Stay in your own god damned country. We have enough foreign illiterates here already". So, imagine how i feel now, that response made me cry because if my fiance and i r requesting for this visa it's cuz we love each other and unfortunately some ppl see it as taking advantage, or like using ppl as bridge to cross to the States but that just not true. It's really sad getting a response like that, anyway.... i'm just mad and sad now... Thanks for reading

It shouldn't matter to you what others say regarding your marriage, if deep down inside you know it's not true.

But I will say that instead of getting angry at the people making comments like that, you should get angry and feel sad at the vast majority of foreigners that do take advantage and use innocent people as bridges to get here.

I assume that if you're applying to the Immigrations Office of the United States of America, everything would have to be in English, same as if you were applying to the Immigrations Office of France, everything would have to be in French.

Seems logical, no?

Maybe you think that all Americans should speak and read French???

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGoodbye and good luck

She really is a great person, I'm just not the one her heart is into.

I come to find out yesterday that she still has feelings for her ex-boyfriend. She thought that by me going over there, she would know if it was really love or not. It turns out that she sees me more like a very good friend. That's my queue.

I can't see how she can be a great person, when she obviously lead you on and used you to be able to validate whether she still had feelings for her ex or not. She at least should have, out of respect and consideration, mentioned this to you earlier or as soon as you met, instead of making you go there and out of your way for her.

Although she is to, in a way, be commended for being upfront with you by admitting how she felt to your face, the fact she kept this in the dark all along until then was cruel and selfish, imho. Why make you travel over there and even introduce you to her family, when she all along knew she still had feelings for her ex? It was when she realized you had developed true, real feelings and were serious about having a relationship with her, perhaps even considering marriage, that she dropped the bomb on you.

She played you.
