Good luck Moosker!

I am keeping an eye on my checking account to see when they cash our check. A couple other people on the April thread have had their check cashed already after their packages were delivered on Friday & Monday. Mine was delivered on Monday.

How long after your packages were delivered did they cash your check? I am so anxious!!

:lol: I actually think I read somewhere here on VJ that they don't even ask that stuff, that it is basically a formality. But hopefully either way we won't have an interview. We are traveling overseas in September so I hope we have approval by then!

M&L I think someone said interviews are random and it is only about 5-10% of filers that get chosen. So hopefully we all slide through without interviews!! :thumbs:

Hey,

I put 2 holes on all of my paper work..did this for the first time around too when we filed for CR1. Unless I am misunderstanding what you mean by 2 holes. I then took a 2 hold bind and joined all the paperwork together with cover page as my first page.

Yeah the two hole punch. I went ahead and did it and just put everything together with a binder clip. :) We'll see what happens.

Thanks champi! I appreciate the link. I didn't put holes in the actual I-751 and the check of course, but everything else I did (oh & the pictures & cards). I too am also sending in a copy of our marriage certificate both in English & Arabic. We also don't have utitilies in both our names so I wanted to send everything else I could think of.

At least this wait won't be as long as the first wait & fortunately we are together during this wait instead of being 6000 miles apart!

Hey Amanda & Raad,
In terms of hole punches, I read it in the packaging guidelines too but I did not do it intentionally. I was bit hesitant to put holes in things like copy of marriage certificate, tax return transcripts, etc.

It will be a good poll to find out if putting holes according to guidelines have any impact on the processing time.

I went ahead and punched holes in almost everything. It only took a couple of minutes so we'll see what happens. I put in my cover letter that everything was a copy and they can request originals if they want...so I don't think it hurts to punch holes in it. Anything to make the process as smooth as possible!! :blink: I didn't know there were packaging guidelines...is that on the USCIS website?

That just made me think of something...from the Pirates of the Carribbean movie in regards to Pirate code..."they aren't really rules, they are more like guidelines." :lol:

Who knows though. Say a prayer for me as I send this out this afternoon. I am praying for all of you!!

Hi Everyone! TGIF!!! I am putting the final touches on my cover letter and I will be sending out our packet today! :unsure: Any last minute advice? I read on another monthly thread that some people punched holes in the tops of all their paperwork....did anyone here do that? They seemed to think it maybe gave them some brownie points and they got their bio quickly??? :bonk: I will be falling in the April filers category. Hopefully VSC will speed up!! Looks like a lot of the CSC filers are getting their bio appointments and several of VSC. That's good! Congrats to all. Hopefully VSC is moving along. By the looks of things, I think VSC gets the bulk of petitions...maybe that contributes to them being so slow!!

I am just waiting on pictures that I ordered to come in the mail and then I am ready to send my packet. AHHHH!! I am ready to get this show on the road! :)

I hope everyone has a good Thursday...today is my 10 hour day....blah.....

I just looked over the form, and I believe you would write your daughter down. Obviously since there is no U.S. address (write N/A) and check NO as she is not living with you. Does that help?

She actually lives with my husband and I as I have primary custody. She is 5. She is just not the LPR's (my husband) child. I didn't know if we just list the children in the house or only list children we have together?

I have another question. The part on the I-751 form where it says to list your children. I have a daughter from a previous marriage. Do I list her on the application? Or do I put none since we have no children together?

I can tell you what I did and rational behind it.

For invitation cards, I basically sent original but only half of the total cards I had. This way, if they lose my package or ask for more evidence, I can send the other half as additional proof. I felt that original would have more realistic impact that copies. Like you said, I didn't really 'need' them so I didn't mind sending original.

For pictures, I sent 30+ photographs, all from different dates/location. I am not sure how many you've. I doubt that sending too many pictures will hurt the case anyway.

For affidavit, maybe you can send the envelop as a proof that you didn't type it up and it was actually sent from your friend to you? It's still not as good as a signature but if you're short on time and if you've strong primary evidence, then it wouldn't make a big difference.

At the same time, all of these are secondary evidence from what I've read, so don't stress too much on them.

Thanks Champi...that is a good idea to send half just in case they ask for more or they "loose" the packet. Did you make a copy of everything you sent except the cards? Out of the thousands of pictures we have I picked out about 70. :whistle: I have good primary evidence, so hopefully all the other stuff I send will just put them over the top for approval!! :D

As far as the affidavits. I have 3 that are signed & notarized NOT including the one that wasn't signed...so maybe I should just not include it? If they happen to ask for more maybe I could ask her to sign it?

BTW Champi...I remember you from back in they day...I think you & I were stragglers on this one thread when we were waiting on CR-1 approval. :) I terminated my VJ account and just came back on here this month! Good to see a familiar face. I think my user name then was Amoon. :) Good luck to you!

Hi Everyone! Glad to see checks being cashed & bio appointments being received!

I have a question. I have several Christmas cards, cards between my husband and I, and wedding invitations. I don't feel like making copies of them. I kind of feel that if I send the originals they would be more believable. What do you think? I really don't "need" them so would it be ok to just send the originals?

And...is there such thing as too many pictures? It was so hard to narrow it down for me. I think I have too many but I want to show a good variety over the past 2 years and different events. I am so stressed!!

Oh & one more thing...a friend of mine wrote an affidavit (it is typed) & mailed it to me but she didn't sign it. It has her address & phone number so should I send it anyway or not include it. I don't want them to think I just typed up something and included it because I didn't think I had enough stuff.

I will probably be sending in my packet on Friday so I will definitely fall in the April category, but I was wondering. I see a lot of people walk-in and have their biometrics done early. I will be using the Raleigh, NC office and it is 2 hours away. Getting the bio done early, does that speed up the process and you get approved quicker? How do I find out if I can just walk-in for early bio. I would hate to drive 2 hours then get turned away!

My husband called USCIS and they told him they never sent out our NOA1 :bonk: They also had the wrong mailing address on file. :wacko: I'm not sure how because we have had the same mailing address for the entire process. Anyway they did give us our receipt number but we are not in the system yet.

Wow. That is ridiculous. So what about having that NOA1 to have proof that his green card is extended for a year? USCIS never ceases to aggravate me.

Oh & what I love the best is...I have called a few times to ask some questions about filing the I-751, someone answers my call immediately almost and is very friendly. But wait until I have a case with them...I will spend hours waiting on the line only for them to be rude, short & not give me the information I am requesting!

As long as your selection clearly shows photos were taken over time, picking 1 or 2 from each season/event should be enough.

I don't want to send too many but I want to send enough to show variety. Blah. I think you have good information there! Do you have your 2008 tax return? Sometimes you can go into the bank, ask for the manager and just say you need a letter stating that you have been joint on the bank account since XXXXX date. Just the more "official" things you can obtain, the better!

I am praying it is enough!! I think I could get an official letter from the bank showing how long my husband has been on the account. We didn't file joint taxes for 2008 because he didn't arrive in the US until the end of June 2009. But we have 2009 & 2010 copies joint filed. I am wracking my brain but I can't think of anything else we can send.

Hi Everyone...not a newbie to VJ, just terminated my account quite a while ago and just came back. :) My husband and I are planning on sending in our I-751 packet either March 31st or April 1st...so I will probably be on the April thread, but I wanted to check in here to see how the process is going. I don't see anyone on this thread with a spouse from the Middle East! :)

I just also wanted to check to see if anyone has any last minute advice of things I can include in my packet. We have:

Rent contract in both our names since 2009
2009 & 2010 joint tax return
3-4 affidavits from friends & family
copy of tickets/itinerary from trip to Jordan in 2010
copy of booking/intinerary for our trip to Jordan September 2011
Bank statement showing joint account
Bank statment showing husband is benificiary on my IRA
Photos
Christmas cards & wedding invitations addressed to both of us
Copy of paperwork for my daughter's school showing my husband (not biological father) is emergency contact & approved to pick up my daughter
Car insurance with both our names + letter from insurance showing how long husband has been on policy
copy of both our driver's license showing same address
insurance statement showing I am benificiary on husband's life insurance policy

I am a little nervous as to the bills from the past two years with both our names on it. My husband was on my cell phone account since he arrived, but Sprint cannot provide me with proof of that. We don't have a water bill and our electricity is paid on what is called a PowerStat account, you just load money onto a card with your address and there is not anyone's name on the account. Do you think this is enough? I'm nervous, but praying God has it under control!

Just happened to be looking over the latest posts here. I am about to send in my packet probably tomorrow or Monday. What is this about punching holes in the top? Are you punching like the two hole punch in the top so they can put it in a folder? I'll take any tips I can get! I am sending to VSC.

I also posted a seperate topic, but I will throw it out here as well. On part 5 of the I-751 form where is says list all your children....I have a daughter from a previous marriage whom I have primary custody of, do I add her on the form even though she is not the LPR's biological daughter?

USCIS has posted updates on the status of their offices in CA:
