Good news, check is being processed by my bank.

Yay!!! VSC moving right along. That is what I like to hear! Congrats! Now just bring on the rest and quick bio appointments!

I checked my bank account this morning and our checked had been processed yesterday. So our check cleared the same day we got our NOA1 in the mail.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get the biometrics appointment? I've seen a lot of appointments around a month after your NOA1 date. Wondering if there is any hope in getting a bio appointment in May?

Add me to the list, please. We are sending off the petition in the morning and will over night it. I'm not expecting a smooth ride, as nothing from day one went smooth for us. It's been an unreal journey thus far and this removal should have technically been over with years ago.

Good luck! Praying for a smooth ride for you. At least you get to file at CSC...hopefully it will be smooth & speedy!!

Yes you were right champi! I just got a little worried because my check didn't go through today and most everyone gets their check cashed first, then NOA in the mail...mine will probably be cashed tomorrow. Of course I'm backwards! :bonk:

Thanks Ben and Ash! Hope you are right behind me!! I hope VSC gets it's butt in gear!!

Good luck to everyone!

Still waiting on check to be cashed...hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday. Ahhhh the waiting!

Aravis-so sorry to hear that your husband got laid off. My husband did also several months ago & he was able to apply for unemployment. As long as he has worked a certain amount of time (not sure how long) he should qualify. I wish you the best of luck.

I got some crummy news on Friday also. I got a call from my doc telling me I have an enlarged thyroid and I may need to have surgery. Yay!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I put both the P.O. Box and the regular address on my package. My check still hasn't been cashed yet, just checked this morning. Maybe Monday? Hopefully soon & hopefully the possible government shutdown won't have any effect on USCIS!!!

Hi Everyone...I am hoping my check will be cashed soon too, that way I will for sure know the ball is rolling or at least it got a little shove. I am eager to have the 1 yr extension as we are traveling in September. But USCIS told me over the phone that the estimated approval time is 6 months...I've seen here on VJ anywhere from 3-5 months. But hopefully VSC will pick up the pace...maybe they will get happy because the weather is getting warmer and that will make them work a little more efficient, here's to hope!

Good luck everyone!

BTW, when does your Green card expires? Mine will on june 30th.

Yeah 60! I seriously couldn't decide. And I didn't see anything anywhere saying there is a limit for pics...so...I sent them!! My husband's green card expires June 27th.

And shawndoc...they got your package on Friday and they already cashed the check? Wow! That is awesome!

I hope all our cases move quickly!

Ok now that we are sent off & delivered...bring on the NOAs!!! :) Good luck to everyone! Here's to a speedy approval with no interview and no RFEs!!

I sent my package via USPS with delivery confirmation/signature required and it only cost me abou $12. I sent it on Friday & it arrived Monday...I wanted to send it on the 1st but didn't do next day since I'm sure they aren't open on Saturday.

Oh & ivancicas...I had a ton of pictures too...I wanted to make sure they got a good variety so I sent about 60!!! They will probably laugh but I said better safe than sorry!!

Thanks for help. I was reading some posts and they said that if you have all other supporting documents, you do not have to send affidavit. We have everything else. Did anyone send some pictures?

Yes, I sent pictures. It was sooooo hard for me to narrow down. I probably sent too many and they probably won't even look at them...like they didn't look at any of the evidence we put together for our CR-1 interview! But better safe than sorry I say. :) Are you sending you packet in the next couple of days?

Hello,people its me again!!!
I am gathering my documents and I will send my papers by the end of this week.I have two questions so pls help!!!

Do we really have to send affidavits or that is optional?
And another thing-Those fingerprint cards, do we have to send them and where can i find them?
Good luck to you all.
By the way I belong VSC, not so excited.

I think the affidavits are optional, but would help. I sent 3. And you don't have to send fingerprint cards...I almost got thrown off by that one too...but I think that is if you are military and are filing overseas. :)

Just checked the tracking on my package and it is out for delivery...so they should get it today!! I requested signature so hopefully that will go ok. :)

Happy Monday everyone!

VSC sure is taking its time -____- It turns out I can't get a new drivers license without my new green card.... #######.. (or so they say.. even though I showed them the extension letter and everything)
Wish they'd hurry up.

They are wrong! I just renewed my driver's license with an expired GC but showed them my NOA letter stating "extended for 1 year" and they accepted it. The expiration date of my DL is the same as the expiry of extension date. I think you should try again.

Hello everyone! Congratulations to all who got their GC : )Thanks RebbecaAndPhil for adding me on the timeline : ) Man, What is going on with VSC? Unbelievable.
Anyway, I just got back from the Philippines, stayed there for 3 weeks. I just want to let some who have worries in travelling outside the country with their expired GC to NOT worry at all. The officer just asked me "did you know that your GC is expired?" I told him "yes" and told him about my one year extension and showed my scanned papers (I left my papers, so I have it scanned by my sis in law and email it to me), he looked at it then that's it : )
I hope that at least one from the VSC filers will get their GC by April. It is taking them too long. smh

Hi RebeccaandPhil, can you add me to the list please? I sent the Application on October 17 at Vermont Center, Receipt date was Oct.21, Bio Appt was Dec.19.
They actually misspelled my first name on my receipt letter, so I called the customer service to correct my name. Then I got a letter stating that they have corrected the errors, the following week, I got another NOA1 letter and my last name was misspelled! I couldn't believe it! So, I called the customer service again and when they checked to see, my full name in the system was actually correct, they said it was just probably a typographical error, pheew. Cmon now, out of all the words in the letter, why must the typo error be my name? lol. Anyway, my name finally doesn't have any errors on my Bio-appt. letter. Oh well.

Hi Simbafuzz,

FYI, my wife just returned from overseas (with her expired GC and extension letter, no I-551 stamp). Upon returning at LAX, she gave the immigration officer her passport and GC. He scanned the GC, took her fingerprints, ask her how long she was gone and welcomed her home. Didn't ask to see the extension letter. I'm assuming that when they scan the GC, it must show on their system that it is under a one year extension. Still good to have the extension letter as backup, but she didn't need it this time.

Enjoy your travels and see you back here when you return!

Hi Greg,
This is good to know. I feel better now. I'm also worried because I am to go back and visit my country in two weeks. Pheew. Thanks for posting this!

PhilippinesNeed a mentor/mentors
QUOTE (craigr @ Dec 16 2007, 12:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,
Ok... I'm gonna do the K1 without an attorney. I have looked over VJ and think I have the brain power necessary to do it.
I don't want to sound like a sissy but it sure would be nice to be able to find someone/ones who would assist me on my way. Preferably somebody who is successfully on there way with the process.
Just to email when I have doubts or minor questions.
Of course I won't hold anyone responsible for any advice :-)
VJ looks great and I want to thank all who have greeted me.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I'll be happy to mentor you through the process. I may be clueless, but I do work cheap. devil.gif

Seriously, you've come to the right place. I did pay the money to have a service guide us through the process; however, I didn't know about VJ back then. If I'd found this place first, I wouldn't have paid for the service. There is a tremendous wealth of information on this site and lots of knowledgeable people here who have gone through and are going through the process who can answer your questions.

Good luck to you.

There are lot of people who got hit everytime in NBI because of the same names, but i don't think the NSO will be wrong because you supplied the birth date and parents name, theres no two children born to the same parents with the same name at the same time. I guess you have to deal with this at NSO personally. Its possible that your fiancee is a victim of identity theft, someone stole her birth certificate and use it for marriage.

It could also just be an error on the NSO's part. Any filing system (computerized or paper) is only as accurate as the humans entering the data. The computer program might work perfectly, but if a human puts IN the wrong data, you get the wrong data OUT.

PhilippinesDocument Checklist for my Interview on Jan 8
Congratulations. We seem to be at the same point in the process. My fiancee Elisa has her interview scheduled in Manila for Jan 3. I created a documents list much like you did and had the service I am paying to help guide us through the visa process review it. They said that the I-134 (and I-134 attachment in my case) as well as the tax return and wage suppliments (w-2's, 1099's. schedules C, D and so on) should all be notarized.

I just sent my packet off to Elisa yesterday.

One thing I did a bit differently was to organize our packet based on the order in which the information was requested in the packet from the embassy. The packet I sent was broken into sections, one section for each section in the required documents list received from the embassy. For example:
2A. Passport
2B. DS-156
2C. DS-157
2D. DS-156K
2E. Birth Certificate
2F. NBI Clearance
2G. Police Clearances
2H. Evidence of Meeting
and so on

Within each section was all the corresponding supporting documentation. The first page in each section is a list of all of the documents in that section. At the front of the packet is a master list (like what you have above) of all the documents in the entire packet by section.

Friends of Elisa who have already gone through this process said that the embassy in Manila wanted to see all of the documents in the order given in the packet the embassy sent out with the appointment letter.

now, make sure that your early medical is at least 4 weeks before your interview date to make sure that your results will still be valid for your interview. though i know some girls who took their medical exam more than 4 weeks before their interview and i guess it went okay.

Not to be picky, but I think you meant "make sure that your early medical is at MOST 4 weeks before your interview date". If your medical exam is more than a month old, you will probably have to get another one.

PhilippinesHow can I make her transition easier?
Thanks everyone for a lot of really great suggestions.

I love her, I know she loves me. I know that she will fit in and make the transition just fine. That doesn't mean it will be a simple process or that there won't be bumps along the way. I just want to do everything I can to make it as easy for her as possible.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on finding a local Filipino community or even a few nearby Filipino families? I've been to the local Asian grocery and asked there. Most of their customers are Chinese and they couldn't offer any help on finding Filipino families.
