PhilippinesBirth Certificate Problem

Hi codythecolt,

I just want to advice based from my experience when I applied my passport last April of this year. Am not sure if your fiancee has her local birth certificate already because if she has, let her check the two (NSO and local birth certificate)if her middle name and mother's maiden name are just reconciled. I mean, the same spelling for "Desucatan" that is in your local birth. I suggested this, because I really encounter problem before, when I apply my passport the first time last April of this year. It's because of ineligibility issue of my NSO birth that the guy in-charge wanted me to secure a local birth certificate and have it authenticated at the NSO before I go back there, at the DFA office. My agony started when I went to NSO office and my request for authentication of my local birth was being rejected due to inconsistency of my mother's name spelling of only one letter when they verified it against their file. My local birth bears the correct spelling of her name which she used and so with my school records that's why I prefer to have my NSO birth be corrected. So, we apply for a correction of entry in our local registrar and pay 1,000.00 for the charge.

And in your fiancee's case, I think she can just use the incorrect spelling of her mother without having a problem at the DFA if it's only reconciled against her local BC, since her mother is deceased already. Anyway, they won't require your fiancee to present her mother's birth certificate. Actually, they only require the NSO birth certificate and they will just ask for a local birth with NSO authentication if it's not readable. :):)

Good luck!!!

Wow! thanks so much for your reply, we'll work on getting a certificate from her place of birth, she lives in manila but she was born in baler, we will work on getting that local bc :) thanks so much!

PhilippinesBirth Certificate Problem

Go with what is on the B.C. My wife's is wrong too. Not a huge deal, it seems. If she WANTS to get it changed, I think that takes a while to do.

Ok, she's gonna start the process of getting a passport now... fingers crossed!

PhilippinesBirth Certificate Problem

Just go with the birth certificate cause it is what the nbi, and passport authority will follow, but if you decide to change it it is ok too but takes 2-6 to be approved! I have the same thing mine is dela serna, my 2 sibling were dela cerna...I am using the s one cause it is what is in the bc..But you can have an attorney to give you a certification that same person is the one in the b.c and your fiance...

But won't they check the database for the mothers maiden name or something? Hmm ok, we might look into getting a certification of proof its the same person, I suppose i'll tell her to go ahead and apply for the passport? So we're good to go?..

PhilippinesBirth Certificate Problem
I see!, so it sounds like it's not too big of deal that the maiden name is wrong? So on the passport app, she should put the maiden name from her bc on the passport app... even tho it's incorrect, we'll still be ok? haha sorry

PhilippinesBirth Certificate Problem
Hey guys, i've been searching the forum and i've found a few similar problems to this one, but I thought I would go ahead and post this just to be certain about a few things.

So the problem is, my fiance just got her birth certificate. And she compared it to her brothers and sisters certificates. And she noticed that the middle name and maiden name of the mother was spelled wrong, each by 1 letter. The maiden name on her siblings bc's say Disucatan, but on my fiances it says desucatan. "note both parents died a long time ago, my fiance never even knew them passed her 2nd b-day".

So my fiances middle name is also the maiden name of her mother.... so it's also wrong, but it's still a nso bc so even tho it was filled out wrong at her birth, would desucatan be her registered name?

She was planning to apply for a passport soon, but we're both worried what would happen, since the mothers maiden name is spelled wrong on her bc ... what should she do guys? please advise :)

PhilippinesDo I make enough?

The "3 years asset value thing" is actually listed in the instructions for the I-864, USEM uses that number with the I-134 for the K-1 being that the I-864 will have to be filed once you are married anyway (totally logical). So yes, if you are only short $1,000 for the the guidlelines, having $3k in the bank would handle the shortage.

Wait... Isn't the I-864 only for the spouse visa? Or does that also work for the K-1 visa?

PhilippinesDo I make enough?

sorry but i want to make some correction for my statement instead of x5 it's actually ONLY x3 (for fiance)....i saw it on USCIS web  which is much better for you

also, you could list your car as an asset as long that you have 2 (working good) cars

Hey, sorry for the extreme late reply here... where did you read about the assets thing on the USCIS website? I can't ... So you're saying, even tho i'm short of the 125% poverty level by lets say $1000.... as long as I have 3k in the bank I can use that as a asset and we're good to go? Am I understanding this correctly?
codythecoltMalePhilippines2012-10-14 20:50:00
PhilippinesDo I make enough?

If you’re short you'll be fine if you have money in your bank. To able to make it you should x5 your savings from the amount you’re short. ($712 X 5 = $3560)

To use your asset you need to have that much money $3560. If you’re filing within 7months from right now start saving money $510/month. Good luck!!!

I'm currently staying at my granparents, just have the car payments and a few other bills, I estimate I should have around 9k by the time of her interview in the bank.

Wow thank all you guys so much for your quick responses. :) You guys are awesome

well, maybe ill have around 5k with plane tickets and visa fee's etc etc...

One last thing...

If things go wrong, and i'm making around the same, by her interview time .. What if by january I started working 2 jobs? Say a small part time job to make a bit more. Could that work? Or no?

yeah, but you still have time though. you can still get another part time job.

OMG lol, you read my mind as I was typeing my last question ... LOL thanks!

PhilippinesDo I make enough?

The 125% above Poverty guidelines (see here) states for a household of 2 is $18,912
This is cutting it very close. Maybe by the time you have to file I-134, you will be making a little more. If you file I-129F in Jan 2013, your interview should be between 6-9 months later. Depends on how fast or slow Service Centers are processing.
As far as your W-2 is concerned, USCIS looks closely at current income when you go for interview.
Manila has historically not accepted co-sponsor for I-134

I see! So they won't be looking at my W2 or financial status until her interview! Not the actual I-129.... Ok this helps alot, Hopefully i'll have a pay raise by then at my retail pharmacy, or even better! A job at a hospital with a big pay increase! Ok thanks abunch, I was monstly concerned about them looking at my financial status at the beginning steps.. Thanks so much! :)

as long as its above 125% poverty guidelines :)

check this out :) http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-864p.pdf

So am I going off the 2 household list of $18.912? So it looks like im gonna be 712 dollars a year short from the the minimum? ERRRR :(

PhilippinesDo I make enough?
Hi guys! Here's a question.

So I just finished getting my 2 year degree as a pharmacy technician at a local community college. I actually just got a job aswell at a retail pharmacy, my starting pay will be $8.75 a hour. I'm still looking for jobs with higher pay such as in a hospital where the starting salary is about $12.50 a hour. But jobs are thin in my area, Mountains of North Carolina, not many pharmacies around lol. So here is my questions.

At 8.75 usd a hour, will I make enough money to file for my fiance? I plan on fileing around January 2013. I've been reading some about a poverty level? I calculate at 8.75 a hour working 40 hours a week, I will be making 18200 a year. Is this enough to file?

Also, since I just got the job, I will have very little on my W2 when I file taxes at the beginning of next year. Will this hurt me? What do I do?

I already asked my parents and they said they would not mind doing the co-sponser thing, however I read Manila does not do that? correct?

PhilippinesEmas CFO experience

Sounds like it was a lot.. Lol!!!

I was in CFO yesterday at SMEF-COW here in Manila.. The requirements they got from me are:

2 photocopy of my passport
2 photocopy of my birth certicate
My fiance divorce decree
my fiance birth certificate
And 2 parents consent..

Hey my fiance only has the one guardian "her brother".. Both her parents are deceased, will this be ok? How can she have 2 parental consents?

On another note, I can't believe they are predicting David A. at the top again. He was awfull!
Kevin & Jena

he forgot the lyrics and he's predicted to be on top. huh.gif blink.gif I didn't notice at first, but my wife and daughter picked it up right away.

It's probably the "pre-teens" and teens group voting for him. That age group is not too particular about fumbling the lyrics as long as the performer is "cute".

They cannot really track the number of calls. However, they track how often the contestant's number is busy and predict how many votes she/he is getting. If you want to see their prediction check here.

I was kinda thinking it's gonna be expensive if I make 20 calls lol! Anyway thanks for the tip I'l try that again next week. I'm kinda confident she'll make it to the next round.

Actually depends on your phone plan. There are some that the weeknight free minutes start at 7pm. I have Verizon and our free weeknight minutes start at 9pm.

BTW... another tip.

When you call in, don't wait for the whole message to play. As soon as you hear "Thanks for voting" hang up and redial again. That way we get in more votes.

If you call using your cellphone, then it will use up your minutes. However, since voting time for AI usually comes up after 9pm when cellphone minutes are free, then you will essentially be using your free minutes.

The 866 number will be free of charge if you use a landline.

you're right when i called it wasnt busy at all!
but i think that maybe because of time difference, some state are watching it live and some are dont (like me i guess) and that will give them lesser traffic whenever its time to vote... american idol in colorado starts at 7pm mountain time...
what time does it start in your area?

PhilippinesIRI/CRI I-864 legally binding?
It's commonly held that the I-134 is not as binding as the I-864. This is based on the fact that after completing an I-134, you will still need to complete an I-864 when the immigrant spouse applies for AOS. It's the I-864 that USCIS will enforce whenever the immigrant spouse avails of any means-tested benefits.

Look at the celebrities in the Philippines.. Majority of them are Mix..

Starts from Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, Billy Crawford, Gerald Anderson, Luke Mijares, Kristine Hermosa, Sam Milby etc..

These Philippine Celebrities mentioned are all half foreigner half Filipino..

Heck Even in the US.. Vanessa Minilo, Vanessa Hudgens, APL from Black Eyed Peas, Lou Diamond Phillips, etc..
