Good morning everyone!
Just here at work enjoying a coffee....When I made my coffee at home this morning the brand new bag curdled when I poured it in my cup! YUCK! That had never happened to me before... Glad I had milk here at work.
Is bagged milk everywhere in Canada or just Ontario??

You know it's interesting, people who post from work. When I was working - even working from home, I never would have posted on a board or really even ever looked at something on the internet (this is not a critisism btw - just different. tongue_ss.gif )

I blame the military lawyers! I called them before I got married to get info on how this all works and they directed me to this website...LOL

Making that call later this morning. Did they fax them immediately??

Yes she faxed them immediately.....When I first asked if they could be faxed she said no, and I said okay...then a minute or two later she asked if the fax machine was right next to me and if I could stay on the phone while she faxed them to make sure nobody else got them...

CanadaWork visa turn citizen??
Hello VJ!!
Hope everyone is doing well.

Finally settling down here in Utah... Arrived first week in May and my family (hubby and boys) are already back in Canada visiting family.
Luckily they come home next week as I am already going crazy missing them, strange I know!

Anyways quick question...
a co-worker here is dating someone that came here 7-10 years ago on a work visa but now claims to be a US citizen... you can do that?? I didnt know that someone that came here on a work visa could switch it over and then get citizenship?

Thanks guys

Still nothing... I was SURE it would arrive today...
I checked the tracking of it... all it says is that it was accepted at the Montreal post office at 11:12 on the 28th... I hope it arrives tomorrow

CanadaStories of Finding Employment
Thanks guys. I was worried... when we were there at the border activating the visa they took him into a separate area, so I could only see him through the glass. I wrote on a paper and held up to the glass telling him to make sure it says he can work... haha.

CanadaStories of Finding Employment
QUOTE (thetreble @ May 22 2009, 06:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I started looking for employment just before I received my I-551 stamp. The state I live in has a plentiful amount of jobs so I got quite a few interviews right away. I needed a job ASAP so the newspaper was my best friend. I literally called every number for every job I thought I could do.

I got a job in less than two weeks after I started looking. In fact, I didn't even have my green card in hand yet, just my 551 stamp for few weeks I worked. I also didn't have my social security number either yet but I was working for a small business that could get away with that sort of thing.

Is it actually a stamp (I-551) only because in the hubbys visa it mentions upon endorsement (I was thinking this means the visa) serves as temporary I-551 for 1 year... and I was wondering if that was correct... I thought it was a "stamp"

I wanted to scan his passport (visa portion) and post and see if they stamped it correctly... all it says is that he was admitted on such and such date and CR1 is written in the middle of the circle where it say class until??? Weird!!

Thanks

CanadaIs Montreal getting stricter with the Affidavit of Support?
This has me worried too. I don't understand why joint sponsors were needed if they make above the income requirement... well half understand since the one person is a "student" now... and for the other I hope they get the info they want quickly and can be done with this.

I dont need or WANT a joint sponsor... So worried now. Atleast as a military member we need 100% instead of the 125%
I finally got my taxes done... one less worry.
Our interview is on the 24th...

our house is being packed up on the 20th and shipped away on the 21st and I am stressing about that... the movers think we are 3000 lbs OVER my weight limit! so if hubby gets delayed for some strange reason he has nowhere to live sad.gif

CanadaThe Vent - Part 2
The family is slowly falling apart... the hubby has broke out in a hive like rash all over his body... it has progressively gotten worse... seems it may be calming down a bit now... (after 2 weeks of suffering)

Monday the 8 year old comes home sick from school -- his ear hurts-- never had an ear infection, bought some drops and then he feels fine.
Then today I get a call from school (today was his last day of school since we hope to start our drive tomorrow to Utah if the visa arrives) The 8 year old has hives all over his body... by the time I get there to get him most of them have gone down.. so I get him home and full of benadryl and he falls asleep.. only to wake up screaming that his ear hurts, so I rush him to emergency room since the docs office is closed and he has an ear infection... I hope this week gets better...
I can only take so much...

they have do not call lists that you can put your number on and it stops the telemarketers from calling

here is the one for Canada

https://www.lnnte-dn...snum-regnum-eng

here is the one for the US

https://www.donotcal...gister/reg.aspx

I never tried one of these, was always worried I would get MORE calls after giving them our phone number.
Any one use this and not get phone calls anymore?

CanadaIR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview
I believe my date was the date I went to Toronto for them to approve the I 130... I know I mailed it in and a couple weeks later they called me to go to Toronto and it was approved that day, then they sent it to Montreal who then sent me my packet with the checklist. I sat on my checklist for a long time... when I could of just sent it back in since we technically had everything... but I procrastinated. So yes it can be much shorter.

Good luck Elsoar and everyone else!!

Wow that's great Rena - congratulations!

It's interesting, based on you mailing back your documents on January 4th - your DCF was not actually any faster than regular processing.

I was thinking the same thing, the only thing we cut out was the first part for the I 130 to be approved, maybe... And I did sit on the checklist before I sent it back...so there was a big time waster there...
I am just so glad things are falling into place.

I tried calling that number, but either I wrote our case number down wrong or I am somehow not in the system. I have never called any of these numbers before, so not sure.
Shouldn't we be in the system?? Is the the number for Montreal? Or do I call somewhere else since I am DCF?? Hope someone knows, if not its okay.
