CanadaGetting Anxious
So I had my interview in Vancouver on thursday and all went well (you can see my review if you want more details). But now knowing that I'm moving and getting married in 4 weeks today is making me anxious. I don't know if I have enough time to do all that I need to do here before I go... and what exactly do I need to do here... forums here I come searching for tax info and all that other good stuff. Any advice on what should be done here would be super great!! B) Take care and happy journey to fellow VJers

Lol... My honey loves the iced capp's... on a birthday card while he was in Korea he drew a picture of the timmy's logo for me from the cocoa container I had sent him... Timmy's is the best too bad Wendy's bought out the company. It did wonders for their profit... but now its no longer entirely Canadian.

Thanks! I'm close to Toronto so it's likely Buffalo for me - I've SOOOO enjoyed the border patrol guards there in the past - cheerful lot! MSP - what does it stand for? a tax of some type?

Hey at the end of January I with my dad drove my belongings over the border. I'm not sure where the person in Canada is. I drove over at the Blaine Truck crossing. Everything went very smoothly. They questioned me on whether I had any plants or animals that I was bringing with me... (cause you will need extra papers if you do). Otherwise, I had a complete list of numbered boxes and exactly what was packed into each box so they didn't rip apart the nicely packed truck which we were all so very grateful for. I was getting on so well with the customs guy I thought I would see if I could get an ead there... No luck he said he could give me the form to file. Any other questions you have send me an email... there was also a posting I had made before leaving canada asking what to do after I had the actual visa in hand before I left canada. Don't forget MSP I did then they sent me a bill :| Best wishes for your interview and your journey south

It really is quite likely espeically if going through the Vancouver consulate. When I talked with the guy there he said that once they get the faxed page from the packet it takes about 4 weeks for an interview. Can't speak on the Montreal consulate though. So definatly in time for your wedding. Congrats and good luck

I was told when I called the consulate that I needed his original or certified copies to take with me to the interview. Make sure that you keep a copy for your own records though. Good luck.

You definatly should go. I just got back from visiting my fiance and faxed off my packet 3 on my return. Posed no problem I think it helps to not carry too much stuff to show that you might be planning on staying. Cause like someone said to me at the medical exam that they had bothered her and she was thinking that some people might just decide to move in the process cause it's so long and complicated. But I did go with a letter from work and that I have other ties that I have to be home. I had even flown down on a one way ticket. I think that it does help to show an ongoing relationship by visiting each other during the process. If you didn't for some it could be almost a year that you wouldn't have seen one another.

I just asked my now husband and when he filed for K-1 he didn't send in anything but a few pictures of us together as proof of relationship. I hope this helps a little to ease your mind. Check your bank for the checks coming out and on the back it will have your case number on it... and you can check out your case status with that number on the uscis.gov website. Good luck and try not to worry too much... there is too many times in this process to worry yourself to death about and to tell you the truth it doesn't help nor does it seem necessary once you're through it and figure out that things take time and are not always clear, logical and effective on the governments side.

Well it has been awhile since I have been here and look at all the red on the list!! Congratulations to you all that have completed your process. I am not sure what I last told you all. I had been living as a military spouse in England and despite me talking many times to the USCIS office there they did not schedule me due to the person that does the oath going on vacation. So after I had already left England they scheduled me for my interview and oath to occur on Sept 28 there. So bummed because I had to wait until we finished vacation and finally moved into our house to let USCIS in London specifically know my new address so they could forward it to the local Tucson, AZ office. So now this next interview is finally scheduled almost 100 days later. Also, from the looks of it most people are getting oath ceremonies 2 months after their interviews here. boo... None of my immigration process has gone quickly. but I guess it eventually gets done.

Just for information I was able to call the Vancouver consulate and talk to a really nice guy. He was so nice that he actually called me when my package arrived in Vancouver and let me know that he was mailing out my packet 3 that day. So for those in the future going through Vancouver 604-6854311 ext. 235 between 1400-1600hrs. This may not help the OP but it may help someone.

No kidding; I've been checking the USCIS website for days, convinced that I will finally see Vermont move forward! Maybe Vermont is just embarrassed that it won't be moving forward again and they've decided not to update it until it does :P

Or the dude who updated the website's processing times died and they have yet to hire a replacement...

I have been wondering about this myself... :clock: I check for the processing more then I check for touches.... and I never get excited... I suppose mentally we could just move everything up a month ourselves and be okay with that.

I just had my medical exam on wednesday. There is still just the one office in vancouver... Ian Morgan, but that day it was a female doctor Dr. Langley. You kept your panties on she quickly goes over you, eyes, ears, mouth, chest, heart, abdomen and a breast exam. Had you take a few steps to make sure you were able to without difficulty and said all was good... Who knows what I will find out from that envelope when I have my interview though. Good luck... they only do it wednesdays you have to be there at 630 am and pay $275.00 canadian. Make sure you've had your tetnus shot in the last 10 years too.

If I were you I would wait until you were in Germany with your husband, then file the 400 as an overseas application. You will have your interview at the closest USCIS office to you. Usually a US consulate/embassy in the country you're stationed. Good luck. I think the only office in Germany is Frankfurt. You would send in your application to them or to Nebraska.

What I got from the USCIS London office this afternoon at 428 don't ask me why it says good morning. So excited!!

Good Morning all!

We are pleased to inform you that this office has just received your lawful permanent resident record to include your Application for Naturalization (N-400) and Naturalization Certificate.

In order for this office pre-arrange the date and time and location of your naturalization interview/ceremony, please advise this office (uscis.london@dhs.gov) of the following information:
(1) The name of the base that you/your spouse are assigned;
(2) Your work (if applicable) and home telephone numbers;
(3) Your email address; AND
(4) Your UK physical address (where you live); to include street address, city/town and post code.
Once we have the correct contact information; we will notify you of further information concerning your naturalization.
We normally travel up to RAF Mildenhall (Family Center adjacent to the Galaxy Inn) on one designated Friday on a monthly basis.
You may also contact this office directly at 0207-495-0551 and speak with Mike or Alicia.

I have emailed Rome and London hoping that they can give me some insight as to how long I will have to wait for my interview to be scheduled. I'm so anxious to get this all done. It's been since June 28th that I have been in line to be scheduled. :(

I am currently awaiting my Interview Date from the embassy having had my medical last Friday in London.

I have a couple of questions reference once I pass the interview and get married in the USA and I am applying for my AOS. Regarding my GP and Dental Care do I need anything from my doctor or dentist for insurance purposes etc to prove that I have previously had coverage from the NHS and therefore also have contact details if any medical records are required in the future?

Well.....I have finally got home from my interview in London today and YES.......I got the visa now just to wait for the passport to be delivered so I can get on the next available flight to the USA!!!!! What are peoples experiences with getting their Passport back?

To apply for a change of interview date to an earlier one you have to send an email to londoniv@state.gov with a subject heading of your case number.

In the email you then state that you wish to have an earlier interview date and then give your reasons why etc and then you can also suggest certain days that work best for you.

I just wanted to throw out that we asked for an expedited interview date on our cover letter when sending in our Packet 3 documents, and I believe it worked. There's no way to know for sure, but we sent our Packet 3 in on 6/9/12 and when we called the embassy today (6/22) they said the letter was on it's way for a 7/12 interview date. A month from Packet 3 sent to interview date seems pretty fast. We didn't have a wedding date, but I am expecting, and my fiance mentioned he'd like to be in the states by the end of July in his cover letter. It appears they are helping us make that happen. :)We may have just been lucky, there's no way to know, but I think it's further proof that it *can* (not WILL) make a difference.


I just called the embassy today as I hadn't heard anything nor got anything in the post yet. My medical was back on 15th June 2012 and they advised me that they had received all my paperwork and the medical results but had not assigned me an interview yet and that I would be assigned one within 21 days of my medical. They did advise that as the interview dates are sent out with 4 weeks notice I would be able to ring up and try to get an interview sooner once I receive this notice. I am hoping that I will be able to do this as my career break from my job starts on 17th July and I dont really fancy trying to fly stand by when the olympics start

its been about a month since I was last on here and I have now sent off all the forms required prior to interview, had my medical and I am currently awaiting my interview date. I know it takes upto 5 days for medical results to reach the embassy however I was wondering how long it usually takes to then be notified of your interview date?

WOW.....just read all the way through this forum for the first time and I have got to say that I am really really impressed.

I am officially, 100%, only using this site for my visa inquiries from now on. People seem so much more friendlier and willing to help on here than they do on "some other" immigration forums.

There are, however, a couple of things I need to ask to check for my understanding and to assist me with how things are developing in my application.

Firstly on 26/04/2012 it was posted on the USCIS Website, alongside our reference number, that our petition had been approved. I was wondering how long I can expect to wait (impatience I know!!!)to receive the the official confirmation in the mail and package 3 where I can then send off my DS forms?

The rest of my queries are:

- I only have to send off the DS-230(part I), 156, 156k & 157 forms (alongside "additional info" sections where there was not enough room on the original form, all signed and dated to match relevant forms) in the first instance once they are complete so that my file can begin to be processed and around the same time get my Medical Booked? Obviously making copies in case of "lost" paperwork etc and where copies are requested to be sent etc.

- Once I have had my medical AND have the relevant documentation required for my interview I send off the DS-2001 with a cover letter?

- In this "Cover Letter" I need to mention; Wedding Date, Medical Date, Email Address. Also on this cover letter could I mention (as due to my current employ I work shifts and due to having agreed to a career break and a trip to the USA coming up in MAY I do not have anymore Annual Leave) possible dates to avoid or dates that are preferable for the interview? What would be the best way of doing this given my situation with work?

- In addition for the "Cover Letter". Regarding the "Wedding Date" myself and Megan are getting married (all booked and paid for) on September 15th with guests and the like, with a ceremony. But are looking at, if I arrive in the USA early enough, possibly getting married at a court beforehand to "speed up" the AOS process etc. With HONESTY being very key with these interviews, I am looking at mentioning this, does anyone think this would be a problem?

- I will then receive, at some point, an interview letter with a date and time around one month before this appointment.

- Upon attendance at the Embassy for this interview I will need to take only the following (plus on photocopy - minus photo's and passport):
Affidavit of Support (From Megan)
2 x US Passport Photo's
Birth Certificate
Passport
Police Certificate
VISA Fee Receipt

- Based on this list is there anything that I have missed out or that I should make sure I have ready and take with me for "back up"?
