What was the processing date before it was changed? I think they're a bunch of liars (god I hope) The date August 21st is month petitions were recieved that they are now processing. Everything has a trend and what goes up must come down (as evident in the timeline graphs) So hopefully our Husk sheds a bit of light when he says that CSC is in hiring mode.

THEY who? who did you file them with, or what stage are you in

USCIS :)
I filed I-129F, and got - what I believe is - NOA1 (notification that USCIS received my papers). WHAT's NEXT? :)
Sorry for the confusion.

Yes pak...you pretty much wait for them to either send back an RFE (Request for Evidence if you left something out) or your approval notice which is the NOA2. Read this forum while you wait so you better understand the process - and try not to worry about those others who cant or wont give you the simple answers your looking for. Just read around them. No need to apologize, I understood your original post without the clarification.

Oh Kari - MANY people handle the AOS themselves! Just skip on over to the AOS forum and read their posts to familiarize yourself for when the time comes...youll see you wont need your lawyer in that area either.

I considered an attorney as well but after reading a few of the posts (one in particular where an interview date is set and the stupid lawyer left the child off the petition) I figured what the heck - I can do this better myself! We even have an IMBRA waiver request and an eventual waiver of ineligibility to deal with...Im certain things will be fine and I will save a ton of money and heartache knowing that Im captain of my own ship! It freaks me out to think of some airheaded paralegal making errors on forms that are so important. My advice - fire the guy - you have MORE than enough reasons based on what you wrote in your post!

"The law requires nearly all non-U.S. Citizens1 to report a change of address within 10 days of moving by completing a Form AR-11. Abiding by these legal requirements and completing the necessary forms does not update an address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS. Non-citizens with pending cases must do both."

Must do both? BOTH WHAT?? All I see is a (1) instruction outlined there. These people really dont want me to call them - I can be quite annoying if I dont understand fully what the hell it is they're asking of me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmailing address question

I was wondering which address do they use from the I-129F Packet?
There was no place it asked for the mailing address. Do they just use the address I listed on the I-129F part A 'Information about you"? This may be a problem since that adress is a street address, not a mailing address. I wish I had thought of this before I sent it in, but now as I'm waiting to see my NOA1...I realize I'm not sure where it's going.
Thanks!
Sue

Thats a good uestion because I would rather all my mail go to a PO Box! Is there anyone else on here that has recieved NOAs at a PO Box? Should I send in a change of address form with the PO Box on it with my petition?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFeeling a bit stupid.. but I have a question..

Hey guys,

I've been lurking and have seen that you guys are quite knowledgeable and very helpful to everyone so I figured I ask.
I feel a bit stupid, I thought I made a copy of all the original forms/documents I sent in with my I-129F. But.. unfortunately I didn't.
I have the some files saved on my computer though of course. Those aren't a problem (letter of intent, the way we met, & stuff). I am pretty sure the copies I currently have are copies that I made before my most recent edit. (I don't remember exactly cause I started the forms over so many times, and made so many copies that I don't remember exactly.. Doh!)

When I get my NOA2 would they be sending me my original packet? Or would they be forwarding that whole packet to my the Australian Consulate (where my boyfriend will interview). I read the guides and stuff, and from what I got from the guide, was that I'm to send him a copy of the whole application/everything I originally sent. And he just receives a completely different package after the approval that tells him what to do and stuff.

I hope I wasn't too confusing. I'm really nervous now because I realized that I may not have copied the final submitted documents. Eek.

If you guys have any insight or opinions please let me know.

Thanks in advance!!!

Try not to panick - Just put together another packet....You will need to send the original information to your fiance for the interview. You needed to make a copy because you will never get to handle the packet you sent into the USCIS...it gets shipped off to the consulate and they keep it forever. :) Its a good thing you have items on your computer so it will be easy for you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotarizing

I'm not positive - but, according to some quick wikipedia-ing, etc, Notaries in the US differ from notaries abroad which can shed light on what documents should be "notarized." I believe their primary duty is to witness the signing of documents, oaths, affirmations, etc, and not so much to authenticate things like w2s or passports, etc. So you'd notarize the I-134 where you are making an oath, but you wouldn't notarize every other scrap of paper.

Thats correct - a notary public verifies the identity of a person and only records the document being notarized in her journal. It also depends on which state you are in. Us california notaries have different wording in our certificates than say Florida...(Florida notaries can perform marriages!) Anyway you can find a notary practically anywhere and the fee runs about 10 bucks most of the time unless that notary travels to you.

Hello,

I have a quick question. I have read that it takes a very long time to get visa from Israel ( where my SO is from) and it even states on their website that due to short staff they are running a SIGNIFICANT DELAY with visas. My question is this: He's originally from Ukraine and if he did have a ukrainian passport for instance but it's expired, can he renew it and will he be eligible to go to interview in ukraine? Can we request that rather than Israel?

Thanks to all replies!

Does he live in Israel? If he plans on going back to the Ukrain he will need his police report from Israel, this I know. Have you already filed the petition?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTrack Case en route from NVC to Consulate

I was told by NVC that my case had been mailed out to the Jerusalem Consulate on February 22. Checked with the Jerusalem Consulate and they have not received my case (which is typically only suppose to take 3-5 business days via DHL).
I tracked my case on the DHL website as instructed and didn’t see anything forwarded to Jerusalem on February 22. Because I didn’t see anything leave NVC to Jerusalem on February 22 on the DHL website does that mean it’s possible they didn’t send it out as they said they did?

Me4Musa,
we did the same thing. The embassy will not show that they receieved it until they enter the info into their computers, it took about a week (after DHL delivered) before the info was entered into the computers. Good luck to you, Chad

Perhaps so but that does not explain why DHL does not have the shipment leaving New Hampshire on their site.

I tried tracking from the 17th up to the present day (27th) from when it LEFT the NVC and there's not one single shipment to Jerusalem. I dont know what the next step is. Keep checking...hopefully they are just delayed in shipping it out to that country but if you are able to call and speak to someone at the NVC you can mention that there are NO deliveries by DHL from the 17th going that way. Is it possible they used another carrier? Not likely but weirder things have happened. Good luck...If I see something I'll let you know.

DHL delivers the petitions to the embassy - there's a way to call the NVC to find out the tracking number of the group of petitions sent out on a particular day. You then go to the DHL website with that tracking number and that should show whether it arrived safely - or not. :)

Well if they were stupid enough to not auto extend then there would be A LOT of people redoing their petitions because many interview dates are over four months from the initial filing.

and your point is? because people's experience is exactly that, that if the petition is actively in process they do typically auto extend. The question becomes however if a petitioner does not keep the consulate informed about there activity, they run the risk of the consulate beliveing the petition has become "stale" and having it returned to NVC....

Sorry let me clarify my point: Wouldnt every petitioner need to FILE for an extension unless they zipped through the system (NOA1 to VISA in hand) in under 4 months? Do you think you yourself will file the paperwork for an extension or take the chance of auto extension. Just wondering if this is something I should do as well. I will look to see what authoritative literature there might be, but the "typical" automatic extentions statement is based on reports of other members experiences but in reality the ability for the Consulate to extend a petition is solely at there discretion.

Hello,
We're getting near the expiry date of our original petition, but my (UK) fiance has only just been able to get together the results of his criminal record checks, sponsor details, etc, so he doesn't have an interview date set yet. We've both written to the US Embassy in London (I had my letter notarized) to ask them to extend the petition deadline + reaffirming our intent to marry - will this be enough to get them to do so? It doesn't really make it clear anywhere on the embassy website if this is how to request an extension, or if they automatically extend the petition if the date comes round but the visa process isn't finished. My fiance phoned their visa helpline and the person there didn't seem to know much about it, she suggested we email the embassy and we just got a reply saying the email had been deleted unread (thanks for that, embassy!). Does anyone have experience of extending their petition expiration date? Any advice would be appreciated!
- Luisa
