PhilippinesNot sure what to do

Many people report that they've used their MNL case number from the NVC even when it's simply written down on a piece of paper.

Or, she can use her MNL case number which is on any communication from the NVC. She can also take along the NOA2 from the USCIS as additional proof.

Better yet, schedule an interview appointment and she can take that printout to show St. Lukes. That would be the best thing to do.

Many people report... Wow you almost admitted it works...

PhilippinesRacist neighbor ???

I hate people with louds motorcycles/cars, absolutely hate them - they are so loud they wake me up at least 4-5 times a night, and I suffer from insomnia too. They are so loud you actually have to cover your eats. I wish they would all crash into each other and spill their petty useless brains on the sidewalk.

I agree some are to the extreme. I ride a Metric cruiser with factory pipes. I got behind a Harley that was so loud it was almost painful. They should be cited for that. No one has the right be that disrespectful of their surrounding fellow man.

Now as for Harleys Why anyone would pay twice as much for half the bike is beyond me. I mean it's their money but dropping an extra 10k for a inferior product, just to try and look cool is absurd. Odd think is they think they are non conformist.

PhilippinesRacist neighbor ???

I'm living here now for 4 years and I'm not really friends of any our neighbors, which is I honestly dont care. I am not in this country for them LOL. But we say typical " Hi and Hello and how are you ? :-h " everytime I seen them outside of the driveway. But we have this one neighbor across the street that so different. Never ever talk to her even ONCE. She is living by her self, driving BMW car and about in her late 50's. My husband told me that the first day that he moved in this house, this woman yelled at those mexican guys that he hired to help him move the furnitures, coz they talked loud and joked with each other. My husband also have a Harley Davidson bike that he ride during summer time only. It's understandable everytime she shut her garage, front door and windows of his house when my husband ride his bike coz it's really loud.

We have a 2 story house, and its a nice day here today. So I open our windows in our room, happened that it's facing also in to the windows of her room. Anyway, our 4 months old daughter already start rolling over from back to her belly, but can't roll yet from belly to her back. I dont want to leave my baby in alone for more than 5 minutes when she's up coz I am worried that she may start rolling over and god forbid burry her face in a mattress. So anyway, I took a shower and I put my baby in her bouncer and took her with me in a bathroom. We have this glass door in the shower room so she can actually see me while I was taking a shower. She started screaming and babbling alot and loudly, and lot more of screaming through the entire time that I was in the shower. She love water, so thought she may also want to take a bath or shower with me. SO I took her out of her bouncer and gave her a bath in her small bathtub in same bathroom. She scream more coz now she's happy and enjoyed the water. So when we finally done got out the shower and dried up, I put down my baby in our bed, and I went to her room to grab a clothes for her. My daughter still babling and still screaming, not a crying scream, but a happy playmode scream lol. So I guess our neighbor across the street had enough of my baby, She slammed her windows down, and shut the blinds ! ####### ! I have no control of her action and dont give a f**ck if she hates us, but with my 4 months old daughter ???
Sorry, just venting ! I guess I am upset... even if I call my mother about it, she wont understand. Coz in my country almost all neighbors there is like your all extended family lol. I may will just sugest to my husband to accept the offer the job that he got in Albany, NY and MOVE.

How does any of that make her racist ?

Everybody is Different. I would advise discuss it in advance and agree and what is sustainable for both of you. Before my wife got here, we both agreed she could quit working. It allowed us to chat during non-working hours and it allowed her the freedom to spend more time with family and friends prior to her departure. .

We also agreed she would not work once she got here. Great arrangement for us, but may not work for all. She is not extravagant by any means, but she has her own money, and if she needs anything with reason she gets it.

No beer, no sandwich... just lots of sun beating down as we stood there holding our flags.

Amen Hank. There was a guy I only met for a brief second when I was 6 years old and we were not real close friends of the family, but I never forget the call to my house, when my grandma told my mom he had been shot down in Nam.

first real memory of a loss in the war. He was from my mom's hometown, and I clearly remember visiting with his dad and him at their lake place in my Grandma's hometown, then my Mom crying when they called and told her had been shot down. I never forgot that for some reason and have visited his grave on several occasions thru the years, and quietly thanked him for his sacrifice. I took his etching from the wall in DC, even though I had meet him once and only as a child at about age 6.

PhilippinesCan We Schedule the Interview without the NVC Letter?

We received our I-797 that shows she's been approved (NO02 was on April 18, 2012). I called earlier this week to see if i could get the case number, and it was given to me and I was told they were going to mail this to Manila soon and that I'd be told when it occurred via email. I've not seen any emails and as you can imagine I'm dying to schedule the interview. Is there a way to schedule the interview now with just the case number and the other info that we have?

My fear is that it will take forever for any mail to reach her small town in the provinces... time seems to be moving in slow motion waiting in agony for a simple letter to arrive.

Thanks.

Yes by all means.... As the OP's say as soon as you have MNL you are cleared for takeoff. Pay at BPI and schedule online.

PhilippinesLooking For a Tutorial

The part missing from the tutorial is learning how to demonstrate absolute fealty to your God: the Government. Once you have shown years of strict obedience to every arbitrary, unnecessary, and degrading order, you are fit for the new America. The worst thing you can do is demonstrate a belief that the government works for the people instead of the people serving the government. Thank them when they kick you. Kiss their hand for slapping you. Don't open your eyes to see the twenty or thirty million illegal aliens all around us who just walked across the border. Because that would show that you understand the theory that all these hurdles are designed to keep out illegal aliens is horse manure fed to people who blindly obey instead of questioning authority and using their minds like a free people.

PhilippinesHow needy you are to have Filipino friends in your area?

"How needy you are to have Filipino friends in your area"

This question popped up in my mind when someone told me that I need friends closer to me. Then, I started to analyze my situation. I am not socially isolated as I have good rapport with my co-workers, I talked to my neighbors once in awhile when we're out for gardening or cleaning cars, and I am fine joining the neighborhood meeting sometimes.

I just don't feel like I need to find Filipino friends in my area. If we meet some, that's great. Me and my husband both working, and I want to spend my time doing house chores or doing my handicrafts or read books whenever my husband is not around and I am home. Since, we're both working, we always spend time together either going out or just being home to watch movie or play games.

Our life has been in fast track and there's a lot of changes since I got here 3 years ago. My husband's friends become my friends, and I always have fun going out with them but when we move to other state, we just hang out whenever we're in IL. Right now, I don't have any close friends in my area. I am kinda too busy to really go out with friends right now.

I wonder if some have same situation as I am. Would like to hear some experiences from others.

I was already friends with several very nice Pinay (wives of friends) when my wife came here. They actually influenced me to stick my toe in the "dating a Piany waters". Anyway now the she is here we have several FIL-AM couples we enjoy doing things with, riding Motorcycles, going out to eat every Sunday night, etc etc. The Beauty of it is that I was already friends with the Husbands. She instantly bonded with the girls and now has a small network of girls she talks to frequently. I personally think it has made the transition easy for her. We have not had any adjustment or homesick issues. It's like she has lived her 10 years. EXCEPT for---

She yawned when I bought her a car and Wigged out and took 10 pictures when I bought her a clothesline, so she did not have to sue the dryer lol

PhilippinesDivorced american man now married to filipina

and the exwife still his beneficiary? something good is still going on with them

I am not a lawyer and not even 100% sure about this, but depending on your state I think the Ex being named as beneficiary is only enforceable if you have signed a written waiver given up the right to be primary.

PhilippinesDivorced american man now married to filipina

Hi VJ friends,

Sorry posting this, i really need your opinion especially from those americans that were divorced and now married to filipina. I am a filipina that are married to american. My husband was divorced. He had failed marriage with american woman. To make the story short, I discovered that he still paying her car insurance, she is the beneficiary of some of his insurances, talk to her almost everyday. I know it's about the kids but sometimes I think it is too much if he talks about where he applied for a job,or anything about him. When I got here in US I cried alot because I feel like Im not married. We live in an apartment and planning to move to a bigger one, but then he told me he doesn't mind living close to his exwife house. I'm like no! I dont like to have a house or apartment close to your exwife, I told him Im not happy when I see or hear him talking to her on the phone, that hurts. I explained to him that if he wants our marriage to work out he needs to get away from his exwife or totally take her away from his life because he is married now. I understand if it's about his kids but what I dont understand is when he talks to her everyday or almost everyday, its like informing her what is happening to him, about job, training, drill etc. One time we were having dinner and his exwife text him. The text was just letting him know that her and the kids are having dinner out. It wasn't a text that u need to text back immediately. But instead he grabbed his phone and text her back while we were having dinner, and it pissed me off. I stopped eating and told them Im done. That he ruined our dinner. Why if someone else calls he doesnt wanna answer. I asked him to answer and he answered i can call back we are having dinner. Why if it is exwife he can't wait?

And also about proof of bonafide marriage. I know and I am aware of the what we called "adjustment of status" and the USCIS will require us to submit evidence that you are married, so to prove them that your marriage is real u have to have joint bank account, bills with both of your names on it, include my name in his insurances, etc. but he never done it by willingness instead I forced him to get me in to his bank account. Before I can't buy anything bcuz I don't have money, I have no access to his account, when i feel hungry I can't grab snacks at handy mart. And thats the only thing we have done so far, seemed like he doesn't want me to be a beneficiary. I mean it's okay but for me being a wife its kinda hurt my feelings. I asked him if it's ok to go back to Philippines because I don't feel like a am wife here. I feel like he still love his exwife although his exwife already married to a same sex. But he doesnt want me to go back to Philippines. I told him I am not happy w/ our marriage bcuz of his exwife. If he didnt call his exwife will call. And also always asked him favor often. But yes I am not happy because he can't take her away in his life. I would rather choose to go back to my country if it won't stop.

My question is ....is this normal to those americans that already divorced? You guys do the same with your ex wife? Just wanna get some opinions from you guys as a relief. Thank you very much, your answers are very much appreciated !!! God bless us all!!!

I am a divorced American man, and yes your right. That is not normal and is disrespectful to you. You are his wife know. Since they have kids together they have to talk and communicate, and being civil is a wonderrful thing for the Kids and them. However constant daily contact and sharing all your life's activities with her is wayyy wayy over the line.

PhilippinesThread about nothing

I remember when I went through Airborne school, jumping with an old Marine sergeant who had 2 closed fractures (hairline, ran in formation even before that jump), one in each leg. He wanted his wings as I did...more...since he was the ranking NCO of this Recon unit I went through the training with. Anyways, after the jump the fractures were double compound open fractures.

They used to say US Army stood for Uncle Sam Aint Released Me Yet. I personally loved the Army though.

I enjoyed the younger days being in the Infantry Ft Benning, Bragg, OCS all that. My last 6 years in the Guard I got really burned out. All we did was go to drill weekend, train to got to NTC and Go to NTC. We went to NTC 3 times my few years. The last deployment was for 3 months during DS-1. It was miserable. I applied for transfer to Saudi 2 times. When I got married all the fun was gone from it and I got out.

I heard the best Marine joke the other day! I was working a car accident and me and the Tulsa Fireman onscene were talking about the military. He told me that he was in the ARMY, so i said "you know what the ARMY stands for right? He said what? I said, Aint Ready to be a Marine Yet." He then put his head down with a sad face and told me that he tried to join the Marines but he could'nt pass the physical. My heart went out to him as i asked why he couldn't pass. He said that he could not fit his head in a Jar! I said Ah you sum-b!tch!! Best one i heard about the Core!

No dat's funny right there. Actually have to admit Uncle Sams Chillin's are a strac bunch. A little loony but super strac. Trained with some up at some school or another in VA one summer.. I rememebr a grizzled old E-9 eating a junior enlisted alive because his parents gave him a used Mercedes and he did not ask the Corps permission to drive such a car.

Seems like the perfect thread to post this story:

We were eating dinner a couple of nights ago and Jessa said these words, "I think I'm getting tired of rice."

I was speechless.

Bakakon No way a Pinay ever said these words. LOL.. Every thing we do is planned around rice and it's availability. When she first landed in the U.S. and was starving after flying 23 hours, she asked to eat. I explained the 10:00 PM options--Wendy's Waffle House, Mac d, etc etc.. She asked " Who has the rice.? I informed her that we would not find rice at 10 PM. She opted to wait two hours until we got home.
The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2012-06-02 08:23:00
PhilippinesThread about nothing

I don't know but since the thread is about nothing then I guess everything would be off-topic or would it work the other way (as Seinfeld did) and actually end up being about everything?

I'll go with the second scenario as it's much more fun.

As a die-hard PC guy for most of my life (since PC's can to be in my teens) I've always wondered what was so alluring about Apple products. A few years ago I finally made the plunge and bought an iPhone 3G. It was nice and all but I just wasn't sold on the "Closed Architecture" that was Apple's flavor of kool-aid so I eventually reverted to an Android (even after having upgraded to an iPhone 3Gs).

The Android was okay but I found the OS to still be immature for my tastes and I was hacking it almost as much as I used to hack the Windows Mobile OS before I bought my first iPhone so I jumped back to an iPhone 4 and was once again happy with my Mobile Phone.

I guess you could say iOS (the operating system used by iPhone & iPad) is Apple's version of a Gateway Drug as I now have a MacBook Pro and iPad2(WiFi) in addition to my iPhone 4s!

I haven't given up on Windows, I run WIndows 7 (64 bit) in Parallels on my Mac but I find myself using Windows less and less everyday.

So now you have your first real post and something but nothing at the same time...

I used go be a IT manager for a 150 node network and thought only commies, socialist , and tree huggers used Macs. I got my first Iphone last year and love it.

PhilippinesSending Money Back Home

Yes, lot's of experience, my own, several friends, and many, many acquaintances. One might be the exception, two might be a coincidence, three or more is a trend, and the trend seems to be holding. Swore I would never find myself in that situation, and now, I am just another victim of the Pinay!

Bingo! My biological translator is at work. At least it is her money going back home and not mine...Slow the flow of money back home...hard to say no to mommy.

The wife gets all depressed when she works so hard, and mommy keeps asking for more and more! She has two brothers in America. One has twelve kids back in the Philippines, and barely sends enough home to support them. The other brother got tired of hearing from mommy, and put her on a fixed allowance. He told her to stop complaining, he has his own family to raise, or he would cut that off as well. She has another sister in Taiwan. She just puts even more pressure on the wife to send mommy money. Mommy and daddy don't work - they quit the family business and moved into an apartment-- their kids are all married and living in America, or Taiwan. Mom wants to travel with her friends, and dad wants to play the lottery. That leaves just my wife for them to pressure for more and more.

I got a couple of friends who have wifes, that have the more is never enough problem. Lucky I don't have the problem. I have sent some on occasion, and really don't mind sending some here and there, any more than I would mind sending to my own family, if they were in need. The incident I was talking about was when she had only been here 3 months and was timid to ask me. We are clear that if her Mom ever has a need she will ask me, and I will be glad to help.

My fiance is the same and i support her now until she and my daughter to be get's here, She is very thoughful as your pinay is. Don't get mad at her over this because she will be sad for trying to do what she though was best just tell her from now on to come to you if something comes up and needs to send money home. But i will say this Even though she is probably the best thing that ever happen to you and would do anything you ask of her....but she not her family and sometimes they will start to ask for more and more? if this happens let her try to handle it and if you see she can't then step in and say something? You might be suprised how she will not ask anymore if she thinks her family is trying to take advantage. Hope it all works out for you guys....God Bless

O yes it's all good. I was never upset and it was not a big deal. I guess felt guilty a bit. I did the same. I asked her to stop working about 2 or 3 months before she got here. Chatting and talking on Pinoy time and trying to work was not a fit. As for her family, they are really really great people. To tell the truth most of them are professionals and don't need my help. They have cars, travel abroad etc. It's just her closest brother and Mom have a small need here and there. I feel really blessed in that area. She has some friends that really have a battle with demanding family members, that seems more is never enough.

You shouldn't be annoyed at all!!!!!, but she needs to know that she can count on you to discuss about this issue. Many families living abroad depend on their daughter/sons living in thew USA for financial support, maybe your wife could get some part time job and then she will be able to help her family since you don't need her money to help you out.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think all of you are right.

Thing is I don't mind helping out here and there. This may also sound sexist but I like her not working and she seems to be A ok with that also.

PhilippinesSending Money Back Home
Let me run this one by the crowd. Before any of you second guess me, My wife and I are close, never argue (much) , I am not controlling and go out of the way to insist she makes her own decisions, She does not work but has her own bank account that I always try to keep at least a few hundred in.. She has never asked for a penny or for me to send money back to the PI, although on several occasion, Birthdays, etc etc or I have volunteered to send some. My Idea, I do love her family and consider them my own.

She confessed to me the other day back in February ( Got here in Nov 11) she had sold a gold necklace she had brought from the PI, to send her mom money and some friends knew, and she wanted to tell me before I found out. I asked why she did not ask me, as I am very generous and she said she did not want to ask or appear she was money hungry or demanding . Said she did not marry me to send money home and had made that point clear to her family..

Here is the rub . Should I be touched she did that and glad I don't have that family demanding money issue or should I be a bit annoyed that she did not tell me ?? I also asked why she did not send her bank account money and she said she considered that our money. She always asks before she spends from that account even though I insist she does not have to, I think I do not have the typical pinay situation or maybe I do who knows.

PhilippinesWhat race your baby is .. ?

Actually Pacific Islander would be incorrect Pacific Islander is a geographic phrase to describe the indigenous inhabitants of any of the three major sub-regions of Oceania: Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia

According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, these three regions, together with their islands, consist of:

Polynesia: The islands scattered across a tangle covering the east-central region of the Pacific Ocean. The triangle is bounded by the Hawaiian islands in the north, New Zealand in the west, and Easter Island in the east. The rest of Polynesia comprises Samoan islands (American Samoa and Samoa), the Cook Islands, French Polynesia (Tahiti and The Society Islands, Marquesas Islands, Austral Islands, and the Tuamotu Archipelago), Niue Island, Tokelau and Tuvalu, Tonga, Wallis and Futuna, and Pitcairn Island.

Melanesia: The island of New Guinea, the Bismarck and Louisiade archipelagos, the Admiralty Islands, and Bougainville Island (which make up the independent state of Maluku, Papua New Guinea), the Solomon Islands, the Santa Cruz Islands (part of the Solomon Islands), New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands, Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides), Fiji, Norfolk Island, and various smaller islands.

Micronesia: The islands of Kiribati, Nauru, the Marianas (Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands), the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia (Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae, all in the Caroline Islands).

Ethnolinguistically, those Pacific Islanders who reside in Oceania are divided into two different ethnic classifications — those Austronesian peoples who speak the Oceanian languages, numbering about 2.3 million, who occupy Polynesia, Micronesia, and most of the smaller islands of Melanesia; and the Papuan peoples, those who speak the Papuan languages, who number about 7 million, and reside on the island of New Guinea and a few of the smaller islands of Melanesia located off the northeast coast of New Guinea.

Inhabitants of the following islands and regions are not considered to be Pacific Islanders: Russia's Kuril Islands, Alaska's Aleutian Islands, Taiwan, Japan, The Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia as they are not located within the three regions of Oceania (Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia

I for one will be glad when the government stops asking....

I never understood why our Govt spends so much money on diversity training, affirmative action , eeo etc etc, then makes sure they group people in all those neat little boxes. I think it just creates more division.

PhilippinesThe Good Daughter

Right! We have a TV in the bedroom with the same channels and i did that on purpose before she got here so that she would have a comfortable den to watch her Tagalog TV. If she is watching TV in the living room, and i go into the bedroom she will follow me in there and take over the remote there to. #######! Its okay, i have a shed in my backyard that i have a TV in. She's not allowed in it. Only me and my Son are allowed in there. :)

Tagalog language is coming along good! Its actually fairly easy to learn. I am able now to have an elementary conversation with her father. I probably could be alot further along by now but i have been working alot to prepare for our trip back to the phils in october.

Well if you have a man only shed your in compliance with man law... Good job

Yeah my fiance doesn't want me to learn Tagalog to much. She only wants me to speak Bisaya/Cebuano, because that is what they speak where she lives. They only call it Cebuano on Cebu, everywhere else calls it Bisaya. Where is your wife from?

Cebu... Talisay to be exact

PhilippinesThe Good Daughter

Anybody been watching The Good Daughter on GMA with the wifey? I'm learning Tagalog so i can't pick up everything yet, but i love this show! The first time i had to watch it was right after me and Monreal's battle over the remote control. I was defeated. But i still have my dignity. I ended up liking the show though.

Dude you let a woman hold the remote in your house ??? :help:

No have not seen it. How is the Tagalog coming. I hate to invest the energy, because my wife and almost all her friends speak Cebuano unless the one Tagalog friend is around then they speak Tagalog.

PhilippinesK-1 interview preparation

You can absolutely take the Medical without the letter from the US Embassy. My wife has been here 6 months and we never saw the letter from the Embassy. Call and get your MNL number and get the ball rolling. You can usually be on a plane with in about a month or so of NVC issuing your MNL number if you wish.

and to be clear I am talking about the letter they send out saying they have revived your packet. Not the confirmation of appointment letter which you do need .

Philippinescan we make an appointment?

hi friends! we got our manila case number already and NVC said they forwarded our petition to USEM on November 4.. then we just called the USEM asking if they already received our packet already so we can book our appointment, the officer said that we should wait an EMAIL that will be send to the petitioner before we can be booked ...sigh! ,,, do we still need to wait for that or i can pay the fee and book for an interview now??? please enlighten me about this!!

Thanks guys!

Pretty much everything everyone told you is wrong. Just as soon as you have you MNL case number from NVC you can schedule your interview. Even before the packet leaves NVC. Go right now and pay yourr fees. wait about a minimum of 4-6 hours and you should be able to schedule interview.

Our packet left NVC on Oct 12 but we already had interview scheduled. for Nov 3. Got Visa Nov 9 and she flies tomorrow. Like I said she leaves tomorrow and we still dont have the infamous package 3 etc etc.

Manila interview people. 5 days after you get NOA2 start calling NVC. As soon as they have it they will issue MNL and as soon as you have this you can make appointment.. It will cut week and weeks off your process... Our NOA1 was June 14th and we are flying Nov 11. 5 months is not bad.
