Yup go pay the visa fee at BPI !!

After NOA2 AND YOU HAVE YOUR MNL # (don't need to wait for the letter from the embassy )

The DS-156 can be difficult to complete sometimes, if you have issues try a different web browser. I had problems getting it to print with IE8, Chrome, Firefox, finally got it to print using Safari.

When scheduling online with the embassy you need to include the "XX" at the beginning of the passport number, your passport number IS your receipt number.

Priorty Date; this is the date the NOA 2 was approved.

Make sure to print two copies of the interview confirmation page as you will need one for St. Luke's and the other for the embassy.

St. Luke's:

Have copies of passport bio page, confirmation page from scheduling interview online at embassy, and of course the 2X2 photos. (copy of annulment is asked for at times)

http://www.slec.ph/us/registration/

Preregister at St. Luke's, it saves time when you arrive.

CFO:

ALL exiting required to attend.

http://www.cfo.gov.p...atid=140#ThirdA

Required documents & "OTHER DOCUMENTS" they ask for at CFO: copies of; CENOMAR, certified birth certificate, bio page of passport, visa page from passport, pictures together, from USC - bio page of passport, birth certificate, divorce decree (if been married before) are the most common. The "other documents" clause can be ANYTHING with those nit-wits at CFO.

** From the Family Code of the Philippines: it's 21-25 years old for advice and 18-21 years old for consent.

Art. 14. Such consent shall be manifested in writing by the interested party, who personally appears before the proper local civil registrar, or in the form of an affidavit made in the presence of two witnesses and attested before any official authorized by law to administer oaths. The personal manifestation shall be recorded in both applications for marriage license, and the affidavit, if one is executed instead, shall be attached to said applications. (61a)

Art. 15. Any contracting party between the age of twenty-one and twenty-five shall be obliged to ask their parents or guardian for advice upon the intended marriage. If they do not obtain such advice, or if it be unfavorable, the marriage license shall not be issued till after three months following the completion of the publication of the application therefor.A sworn statement by the contracting parties to the effect that such advice has been sought, together with the written advice given, if any, shall be attached to the application for marriage license. Should the parents or guardian refuse to give any advice, this fact shall be stated in the sworn statement.

PhilippinesJust Got MNL#

Hello everyone!
I called NVC today just to check if they received my case. Surprisingly after only a week after my i-129f was approved, they told me that they have forwarded my case to the Manila US Embassy today. My question is, can we now pay the visa fee even though the petition has not reached the U.S. Embassy yet? Can we also schedule for the interview after the payment? How long does it take for them to received and process it?
Thanks a lot! and Good luck to everyone. :)

Shooo can. and before you know it , she will be here. You are as we like to say. In the short rows now.

PhilippinesCFO

Anyone here attended the CFO seminar before visa was issued? They said it was possible and I think it is very practical to get done with it before the issuance of the visa cause it coul save time. But how? :) thanks

My wife who came in November did. She just went to the Seminar, then when her Visa came in she went back and they put her stamp on it, as she had already completed the course. If you need more info I can ask her the details.

^^^ There is no mix up. She married a foreigner in the Philippines, so she's required to complete the CFO seminar before she gets a passport.

Correct. Only if you are married to a foreigner and wish to sue their last name. Otherwise no CFO is required to get passport. I did not realize they were already married.

Here is an interesting requirement. Can you imagine the PC crowd and lawsuits that would happen in this country. LOL

We came over last November. The only CFO requirement was that she had to have her sticker to board the plane. She went to the CFO course prior to going for the interview. She then went back and got the sticker after she got her VISA> They would not issue the sticker until her Visa was approved. I think we have Visa and Passport mixed up.

She has to have her VISA to get her CFO sticker. She did not have to have CFO to get a passport.

And I am wondering how he got all the way to NOA2 with so little understanding of the process, then I remember when I was that age. Still I am a bit skeptical.

I am a american citizen, im now 19 but when i was 18 i met a girl online and dated her for 10 months b4 flying to the Philippines to marry her, which i did. While i was there i got her pregnant. A month later i flew back to the states to start filing my petition, which i have already done. here is all my questions, please please answer them if you can.

1.What does the noa2 even do, like did the california service center who was handeling my case send my case to manila? did they send it too some nvc building in the U.S.?
2.I herd they are now going to be sending me a packet, how long will it take to get that and is it coming from manila or california?
3.What all is included in this packet? Id like to know everything.
4.When im sponsering her i wont have enough money so im having my grandfather co sponser, what all will he and i need to do, what will they need from us?
5.My wife dosent have her passport yet, she has everythign ready but she must attend a seminar in manila b4 they will give her one, will this be a problem at the interview?
6.Will her being pregnant be a problem at the interview?
7.I herd they are super picky, how can i make sure she passes that interview without fail?
8.Where will this interview be takign place?
9.What all does she need to bring?
10.If the baby is born just after her interview do i have to start a paetition for it and wait again?
11.If its born b4, are the going to deny her and wonder why they were not told about it?
12.What do i need to do to get my child legally over here to the U.S.?
13.Can she get the babies passport from where she lives in the Philippines or does she have to go all the way back to manila?
14.Does she need to get all kinds of vaccinations b4 she steps foot in america? Are they going to rob me blind with $200 shots and vaccinations?
15.Does the baby need to get that too b4 its allowed to fly?
17.How much do passports cost?

Who helped you get to the NOA2 stage.??? Your right you are a young to have flown to the Philippines and got married. Usually us older geezers.

1) My wife and I lurked VJ 2008. We joined 2009. We reflected on your statement. We can't remember more than 2 VJ Kanos claiming GC scam. Jonny and Jason. Can you help us recall more than that?

2) IOO, Most of the "troubled marriage" stories posted (by Fil-Ams) are just that..a troubled marriage and nothing more. Recalling some of these TM posters...we think the numbers are pretty close but Pinays edge ahead of Kanos (for # of threads). Usually the Pinay begins a thread claiming mistreatment and asking for marriage advice. :help: The Kano seems to be looking for a cheap 1 way ticket if she doesn't submit.

3) Perhaps a poll would reveal accurate statistics but...our vote for highest percentage GC scam (reported on VJ) by region / country....Rubbers followed by... Moroccans...(the rest in no particular order but ahead of PI)..Africans, Egyptians, Vietnam , Thailand.

PhilippinesAffidavit of support and Tax returns

I've just noticed many people using tax returns, often get requests for W2's. Turn in a tax transcript and you seem to get through without needing the W2's. I used only the transcripts and everything worked fine, no W2's required. Anyone can fill out a tax form with anything on it, doesn't mean that is what was actually turned in to the IRS. Although lying by turning in a false tax return form could lead to very bad problems.

Your right. Like I said there has never been a case ever recorded someone was turned down for using a tax transcript. In fact most use them. How anyone could tell me that they might not accept a tax transcript then brag that that they turned in both to be safe defies logic and reason.

This whole little debate started because someone said they were turned down for using a tax transcript in 2010. Upon digging it was discovered that the 2010 tax transcript did not meet basic income requirements and they had to hurry and file the 2011 and send it in, because they did meet requirements on it. Obviously they could not send the 2011 transcript because they had just filed the return. Tahoma also does not think you can make your appointment as soon as the NVC gives you your MNL and that you have to wait on your package to reach Manila.

On the flip side I made the mistake of calling him out when he said St. Lukes did not take appointments. After careful research he was correct, it is all walk in's but you can per-register.

Anyway it's more in fun than anything on my part, I just want to make sure people have the best info to guide them the process effortlessly.

PhilippinesAffidavit of support and Tax returns

thanks you all :)

Tax Transcripts are preferred and there has never been a case of anyone being delayed for having a tax transcript, if the actual tax return would qualify them. As the OP said, the actual return can have many parts and forms and the Transcript is an actual condensed form.

You can order tax transcripts through the IRS Transcript order line. It's very easy and all automated . Call (800)908-9946 or order online. Very simple and free. Just ordered some recently and had them in 8 days.

So what you guys are saying is that the USEM actually prefers the Tax Transcript to the actual return ??

PhilippinesDual Citizenship and Petitioning Father

Hi! Can someone direct me which forum I could look up for info regarding Dual Citizenship and petitioning my dad after becoming a USC? My PI passport will be expiring in August and I'm currently in the process of my N400 awaiting interview which most likely will be scheduled sometime next month or around August, I was wondering how soon can I apply for a US passport? With my soon-to-be expired PI passport, is it ok not to renew it since I'll be getting a US passport anyways? Lastly, pls direct me to a forum that assists USCs to petition for family members. I am looking for time frames and processing times if I ever have to petition my dad after becoming a USC.

Sorry for the long post. Hope someone can help me out. Thanks!

PhilippinesI joked that she'd need a wheelbarrow to take her stuff to the interview

So how did it end?

What did the CO ask to see from my fiancee as evidence during her interview? NOTHING!! ZIP.. ZILCH.. NADA!! I think that she never even took any of it out of the binder on the floor.

Instead, he just looked at a couple of the pix that I'd included with the I-129F, looked at her mandated forms and passport and told her that she was approved. (I'm not sure if he even asked her any questions at all! I'll let ya'll know after I chat with her tonight.)

Fairly typical.

PhilippinesI joked that she'd need a wheelbarrow to take her stuff to the interview

Hate to see how much oil you put in the crankcase when you change oil!!

I would only send a sampling of emails and chat, the embassy is not going to read through 40 lbs, let alone 57 pages of chat and emails. Select about a dozen pages from various times of your emails/chat/screen shots (CFO doesn't ask for this stuff). As for backups, scan them into PDF files and send that way. You don't need to send copies of your I-129F info, they already have it.... never DO-DO when DO will DO.

From you CFO usually asks for a copy of your passport bio page, your BC and divorce decree (if you have one).

What Hank said. ! Just a few pages of chat transcripts, Any cards you sent, and recipients for any money you sent. They don't have time to look at all that stuff and chances are will not look at anything if everything else is Jam up. I think we had about 20 pages of stuff and about 10 pictures, plus all the required stuff.

As part of the package that I sent to my fiancee to prepare for her interview, I included fold-up street maps of the USA, Florida and my county. On the last two, I marked a tiny little X to show where they'll be living. I also threw in some county brochures from the chamber of commerce.

In reply, I got pix of her son on the floor at home with maps spread open and him eagerly checking out locations. And my fiancee also commented on all of the nature parks, tourist attractions and other neat stuff nearby. They both really liked the info and we chatted about it a couple of times. Now, as they sit waiting in the hotel room for visas to arrive, they're checking them out again, including the route we'll take from the airport to home. Definitely a low-cost high-value investment!

Anyone else do something similar?

That was a cool idea

Philippinesquestion about CSC

Ya that seems very quick from all I have read. Most get the AP and/or EAD in 3-4 months and the green card in 8-12 months. I would be impressed if my wife got her GC in 3-4 months.

So have you guys filed yet ?

Philippinesquestion about CSC

Your wife got her conditional GC in three months? Or just the AP and EAD?

Hank it was like 2 days over 3 months I think. The AP came quickly. I don't think we asked for EAD if I remember correctly. We got married in December but did not get around to filling until Feb. I thought that was about normal, but heck what do I know ? Are you saying that was way quicker than the norm ?? I thought most took 3-4 months if you got no RFE ? Curious to hear what you and others have to say about that ? Cause to tell you the truth it seems everything we did happened very very quickly ?

I've heard that, but the cost hardly explains while AOS at the CSC is taking 8 months when visas all go so much faster. The AOS is over a thousand dollars, but still they seem very slow to process them. But maybe they figure they're here so whats the big hurry?

No clue why it's taking you 8 months. We recently did ours, it got transferred to California and it only took 3 months. I may be wrong but i think 8 months is unusual. You might want to check on it. Did you get an RFE or was something wrong ?
The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2012-07-04 10:02:00
Philippinesquestion about CSC
The way CSC and VSC works is that they tend to concentrate on where the backlog is. Also the Visa's that pay the bigger money amounts like work Visa's tend to have more labor assigned to them. So what has probably happened at CSC is that they have assigned extra staff to K-1's "for now". When I was getting my K-1 VSC was cranking them out at a fast clip and the people at CSC was taking a long time. Without checking I think we got our NOA 2 from VSC in under 100 days.

In a few months the CSC will be taking longer and the VSC will be knocking them out. It cycles.

I got this info from a friend that works at VSC. She told me when I was in the K-1 process that VSC was about to put extra labor toward the K-1's and sure enough they started cranking them out a week or two later.

PhilippinesIs it possible for me to schedule interview now?

And my point was that I did exactly as you and others have said, but ran into the issue where USEM said the package hadn't arrived or been uploaded and they couldn't set the appointment even though it had been 10 days since I'd received our MNL number. I stated this for new members especially, because it isn't "highly unusual" if a person has time to read some threads here on VJ. Many folks are in fact able to make the embassy appointment quickly, but it is not guaranteed.

I certainly wasn't content to "go slow" and did everything possible to expedite setting the medical and interview appointments early on. But, it couldn't be done immediately upon receipt of the MNL number.

All that being said, we did get everything accomplished quickly and are now just marking time, waiting for the visas to be delivered.

Yeah I got you dude, you had a problem. This is actually highly unusual. My comment about others taking thier time, was because some people. like to give everything time to unfold and not rush thru it, I got it that you were not in the category.
The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2012-06-30 22:39:00
PhilippinesIs it possible for me to schedule interview now?

You can call it bogus, but it doesn't make it so. It's what actually happened in my case. Facts are facts.

I was not saying your case did not hit a sang of some kind, but your case was highly unusual.I was just emphasizing to anyone who reads this, especially new members, that when you have your MNL assigned your can pay your fee and schedule your appointment. They don't have to wait on the physical package to arrive. More than likely it will take 2-3 weeks to get the medical and find an open appointment, so they will have plenty of time for the package to arrive.

Some people want to get it done as quickly as possible other are content to go a bit slower and allow plenty of time for any thing that may arise.
The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2012-06-30 08:23:00
PhilippinesIs it possible for me to schedule interview now?

You can't schedule the appointment until your information is uploaded at the embassy. I just went though that. After NVC received our case and I had the number, it took them 5 days to actually ship it out.

The thing to do is to give it a week, then call NVC back and ask when they shipped your case to the embassy. So, I'd recommend calling NVC tomorrow to find out the ship date.

Then allow 8-10 days for the package from the ship date to reach the embassy and be uploaded before calling to set your appointment (or doing it online.)

Remember that July 4th is a holiday for the embassy next week too, so your info may not be uploaded as quickly.

In case anyone is following,, the above is bogus info. As soon as you have the MNL your in Business. If you have your MNL, your case has already been assigned to Manila. Not sure what happned in this case, but this is not the norm.

PhilippinesInterview time question

Well let me say my source learned it directly from NVC and shared the info with me. Makes total sense when you think about it, the embassy has many cases that don't go through NVC so there is no way for NVC to know what case number the embassy is at without checking with them.

Yeah i guess never thought about it. So when NVC receives a packet they notify the Embassy and the Embassy gives them an MNL to assign to it. I know the NVC forwards the packet to Manila after the MNL is assigned

PhilippinesInterview time question

If St. Luke's feels they can not get the medical file to the embassy on time, they will have your fiancee hand carry it.

As for the MNL #, the embassy is the one that assigned that number to your packet, then they forward that number to NVC.

embassy assigns case and Forwards to NVC ?? You sure about that ?

PhilippinesInterview time question

Just a question to get me thinking about a time frame for getting the rest of this procedure done.

When scheduling the interview through the manila website, what is the time frame were looking at for an interview? Is it possible to get on there and get an appointment 2 weeks out? Or is it 3-4 weeks? Is it possible to pick up an appointment in 1 week? Thanks for any responses on this..

You never know until you get on and see. The answer to all your questions is Maybe.. I doubt one week but 2,3,4 is surely possible. It all depends on the case load. I want to say my wife got her's about 3 weeks out, maybe a tad more. I am thinking 3-4 weeks is the Norm, although a lot don't want to be pushed. You got a lot to do after NOA2.

Anything that doesn't fix your arms and allows them to rotate. Those lengths of surgical tubing work well that you tie to a door handle, and there is that thing I see on TV that allows you to grip and twist your arms as you do push-ups. Dumbbells, rather than barbells, stay away from pull-ups, dips, anything with a fixed bar. At the gym, use the machines with cables and a free grip for each hand.

It's been over a decade since I could throw anything over hand, so I am in the same place physically.

Good advice. One of the biggest mistakes most folks make is shooting for those huge Bench numbers. Your chest gets strong and developed, your shoulders do not. Your pecs pull inward on your Delts and shoulder joints making the problem worse. Sooner or later your going to tear something. I know from experiance.

This is the best website I have ever seen for muscle development, This guy's info is straight on with none of the mis-information you see on lot's of sites.

PhilippinesMy Wife Wants to Join the Military

I put together a folder for her today... showing the requirements at graduation, what they want her abilities to be when she arrives at the beginning, and a 14 week training program for her to follow to get in shape before she would go. Tonight she watched videos on doing proper military push-ups and sit-ups. She has no problem with the sit-ups, but is going to really struggle bad with the push-ups. Right now I tried getting her to do one good push-up. She wasnt successful. She came close though. She did a handful of "unacceptable" push-ups. It was a start. I dont know how it will end, but I will help her as much as she wants. This was the first day...we will see what she does tomorrow. In a couple weeks we will see if she is making any progress. I know it is hard to develop upper body strength, and it takes time. If she stays with it over the course of a few months she can do it. I know that all of a sudden it seems the push-ups just start improving. If she wants to do it bad enough, she will do it. I need to just stay out of it unless she asks for help I think, because it is a personal commitment that she needs to make herself, and she needs to decide whether she wants to give it her all and do it or not. I cant and wont drag her through it.

I was just thinking how I have been through it all 4 times in my life. First with Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, when I went on active duty right after high school. The 2nd time was going through Airborne School. Then 3rd time was Advance Camp at Fort Lewis, Washington with the Army ROTC program when I was in college a year prior to getting my commission, and 4th when I went through the 3-1/2 months Infantry Officer Basic Course at Ft Benning, Georgia. I know I wasn't in Special Ops or anything, but those 4 times was plenty enough for me.

Anybody that went thru anything at good Ol' Ft B went thru a tough course.

Actually I was just joking and being a little facetious. The military was the best thing that happened to me. Out of thirty years active duty I spent 17 overseas, something I never would have done without the military.

Ok cool, just wanted to make sure you knew we were not bashing the Air force. I tell young people all the time, when they talk about joininh a service branch. "If I had it to do over I would join the Air Force, without a doubt.

If I really thought about it I would join the Coast Guard.
