PhilippinesIntent to marry proof at embassy interview

Like said most do a new Letter of Intent for the interview at the embassy, so your attorney is correct.

http://photos.state....tober 2013_.pdf

h. EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to prove to the consular officer
that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry within 90 days of
admission into the U.S. In the past, successful applicants have submitted photographs, letters, e-mails,
phone records, bank records, and remittance records as evidence supporting their relationships and intent to
marry.

As for ROC we have a little over 6 months before filing.  Then the big count down starts as my wife will get her citizenship as soon as allowed so we can kiss this immigration stuff goodbye. wink.png

Darn we  do ROC in about 3  weeks. I was hoping you were first, and  I could graze off your advice.

As for citizenship. i understand you can file as soon as 1 year after ROC?  Not 100% sure. We are going to be back and forth to the PI a lot. I hate to stay more than a month or 2 until she gets  citizenship here, then it's all over. We also plan to file Dual for her, since we may end up living there

PhilippinesIntent to marry proof at embassy interview

Most simply submit the Letter of Intent with a new date (same letter used with the I-129F), nothing complicated.

If the CO asks your fiancee about the wedding plans she should tell them what you just said - getting married at the courthouse.

Yup as always Hank nails it.

One question Hank..I am  ashamed to admit now i used an attorney. Big waste of good money

For whatever reason he said do another intent letter for the interview.

I think you know more than he did, do you think that is valid?

How long before your ROC hank?

PhilippinesIntent to marry proof at embassy interview

Hello,

My fiance has her K1/k2 visa interview March 11th. I hear so many other couples say as examples of proof that they do intend to marry once the fiance is in the petitioners country they provide a reciept of a planned reception, church wedding, guest invitation list..... Due to my being married a few times in the past we plan to be married at the local courthouse by the probate judge. So my question to those on this forum is do you have any ideas on what she could say or present  at the interview to support the fact that we do intend to marry?

Thanks in advance!

Jerry

INMHO almost 100% of filers spend way too much time sweating the Proof of relationship angle.I did it also.

If everything is  on order, Finances, Back groud checks,Cenomar, etc etc you will be fine.

All you need is the letter of Intent to  marry. Of course you cant throw  in anything you  want,  but  guest lists etc  is way over the top and 99.9% chance it will never be looked at. They are looking for glaring red flags not trying to  Analyze each relationship.,We havebeen married 2 years and about to file ROC.  We have seen lot's  go thru  the K-1. Almost all way way over prepare. They don't have time to spend more than a few mins with  each candidate

Here is the text part of my intent letter,  a  very experience Visa advocate helped me write it. Take note that I outline the relationship, include several examples of times together. and put emphasis on meeting her family The last part where I expressly say, i intend to marry  her with 90 days etc is important.

I am no expert but we had a quick, no problem K-1 experience. I underlined the  must have parts

STATEMENT OF INTENT
XXXXXXXXXXXXX-Name

US Dept of Homeland Security
US Citizenship and Immigration Services

Date

Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is xxxxxxxx and I am a U.S. citizen by birth.  My fiancée is xxxxxxxxxxxx, a citizen of  the Philippines  We are both of legal age to marry and we are both free to marry.

I met XXXXXX online approximately 4 months ago. What attracted me to XXXXX was her very poised and conservative but sweet nature. Since that time we have chatted every day ,and XXXXXXX has always been the epitome of class and grace..  During this 4 months I have grown to love XXXXXX and a romance has grown that could not be separated by distance.  I know that XXXXX is a sweet sincere, loyal woman, who anyone that met would instantly like and in my case love. I have also grown close to XXXXXXX family, and have been accepted and loved by a very fine Philippine family.

As the supporting documents will show I traveled to Cebu City to meet XXXXXXXXXXX arriving on XXXXX. After spending the first few days with her and her family I was overwhelmed by the love of kindness of these people and knew I had made the right decision. Her family took me to many of the sites in Cebu, including the site of the Battle of Lapu Lapu, and the beach upon which MacArthur landed. We also visited the cross of Magellan and prayed and lit candles at the Church Santo Nino de Cebu. After a few days her family approved of Me enough that they let us spend time alone together. This was a very touching nod of approval by new family. During the days we spent together we laughed, and talked for hours. Hung out in the SM mall and we both agreed we still felt the same attraction and love in person we had developed online. I was appreciative that her supervisor let her have some time off during my visit and I got to meet most of her office mates.

The last day of my trip I spent in the home of her brother in law, a local XXXXX, and head of her household. I asked for her hand in marriage. I promised to love and respect this beautiful, unique wonderful woman with all of my heart and to treat her with respect and gentleness for the rest of our lives. I also met her Mother and asked for her blessings in this union and promised to bring her back yearly to see her family.

One of the more interesting parts of my trip was being invited to the traditional Sunday lunch with her entire extended family. I have to say the Lechon was tasty but the barbequed Chorizo was the best thing I have ever tasted. I did eat the Dinuguan, because her sister made it, but it may be an acquired taste.

XXXX  and I spent almost every waking second together until the sad day, with tears in our eyes, we parted on XXXXX.

Since my return we spend every free moment we can, talking and counting the time until we finalize the  k-1 Visa process and she can come here for us to XXXXX.

Having purchased an engagement ring at Oro China at SM mall, I fully I intend to marry, XXXXXXXXXXXXX  within 90 days of her entry into the U.S.A. following the approval of the petition to which this statement is attached and the subsequent issuance of a K1 visa by the consular section of the U.S. embassy in Manila Philippines.

Respectfully,

XXXXXXXXXXX

PhilippinesQuestion about lawyer helping us on US Tourist Visa application

Anyone? I would just like to know what a lawyer can actually do to improve the likelihood of obtaining a Visitor Visa?

They can improve the likely hood of seperating him from some money

The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2014-02-04 19:25:00
PhilippinesPetitioner at interview?

No it is not necessary to attend the interview, but I don't regard it at all... it's a great memory and I do recommend all that can attend to do it for the experience ... not because you feel you need to be there to get the visa approved - that will happen even if you stay stateside all things being equal.

Well said Hank. Sometimes I don't convey meaning well in posting. By all means if you got time and money and nothing better to do go.

just saying don't go just to help her chances of getting approved cause it will not

At the time, my wife had her's getting off work was at a premium, so I saved it for other things..

The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2014-02-19 21:26:00
PhilippinesPetitioner at interview?

I know the Philippines allows the petitioner to attend the interview because I did it in October 2013.  I'm just asking if this has changed.  He hired a lawyer that told him that effective January 1, 2014 the petitition is no longer allow to attend.  Of course he will call the embassy to find out for sure, but we are in the middle of a debate right now so we can't call.  I just want to prove that his attorney is unnecessary.. haha!

INMHO and not meaning to be smart.

Hiring a lawyer and going to the interview are two of the biggest wastes in the K-1 process. If you want to go just to see your SO, cool go, but It really is not going to help and you will see them soon anyway.Like I said just my opinion. If the only reason you are going is to help her chances. Save your money and stay home

If you have all the paper work, meet the income requirements, cenomar etc, you are going to be approved.

As for the lawyer. I hired some shisiter. Biggest waste of Money I ever spent, next to the Ab lounger. Other than reviewing your paper work for accuracy, there is not one thing they can do for you.

PhilippinesWhy is it so hard to find a good Filipino restaurant?

Don't blame the Cuisine - Blame the Cook.

Main Course Favorites = Sopas, Afritada (CPB), Adobo, Mongo, Pancit, Lumpia, Siopao, Lechon, Mami, Sweet/Sour Tilapia, Kare Kare, Stuffed Bangus, Giniataang Tilapia, Garlic Fried Rice, Shanghai Rice, Embutido, Chicken Curry, Grilled / Stuffed Squid, Nilasing na Hipon (AKA - Drunk Prawns), etc ....

Sides & Desserts - Atsara, Chop Suey, Puto, Leche Flan, Moron Suman, Turon, Kutsinta, Ube-Macapuno Cake...etc...

I'm not much liking the Sinigang but all dishes, sides & dessets listed above = regulars on the Menu in Bahay.

While shopping @ Asian market 2-3 weeks ago - I asked my wife to show me the ill reputed "dried Fish". Never saw, smelled or tasted it. My curiosity is peaked = Just waiting for weather to warm up a bit & we shall cook it outside for my first try...& from what I hear - I expect to be a one and done. Interested to find out how bad it really is or isn't...laughing.gif .

It smells like a cross between necrotic body and stale wet socks

PhilippinesWhy is it so hard to find a good Filipino restaurant?

I disagree,,,Philipino food is nothing much ,,what ,,poor cuts of meat,,,lots of Datu Puti vinegar and some soy sauce???

I mean,,pancit, sinagong,,sizzling si sig,,,,what maybe 8 dishes total???

I love my wife, but you are right. Most Pinoy food is not real appealing to most Americans. Dried Fish,Bangus, etc  Not good.

A few Dishes are ok--Pancit, Mongos soup etc

There is not even a full service Philippino restaurant in Atl, that I know of. There is one small snack bar style in Duluth farmers market. There use to be one on Buford hwy, but went under.

PhilippinesFood and Your Mate

Something someone posted in another thread about going from OK to famished in a second got me to thinking.

Maybe it's just me, but?

If I  am really busy and concentrating on a task, I tend not to think about eating until later. Keep in mind I love to eat and it shows.

However my sweet wife can go from zero to hungry in 10 seconds flat, and when she is hungry or proclaims she is hungry, it is time to find food, THEN, not in an hour or so. We have actually been going out to dinner in about another 30 mins, and her get hungry and we have to stop and get a snack.

Now I am not complaining, it's really no big deal, and she is so good to me I would go slay a cow with my bare hands if she was hungry. Typically here if Supper is in 30 or 45 mins, we just wait.

Is this a cultural thing or is it just my sweet wife.

PhilippinesWhat is the best and fastest way to ship docs to PI?

I used FedEx priority shipping (US to Manila), using FedEx document envelope. It was $69 for an envelope weighing 0.5 lbs.

My fiance received it in 4 days from the day I dropped it off (shipped from here Monday, he got it there Friday).

Same here

PhilippinesAirline Information

I agree with you about Korean Air. I myself have flown those same flights from Atlanta to Cebu and Manila. Unfortunately, when you try to book from the USA a one way flight from Manila to Atlanta with Korean Air you get a pop up message about Philippine law only allowing that booking within the Phil.

Maybe I can find another carrier with similar layover llike Korean Air who will then fly direct into ATL. Because as you said the new international terminal there is great and customs is fast and easy to for someone flying their first time.

Thanks again for your help!

Oh the old one way ticket thing..I just sent my fiancee the money and she bought it there. This an age old dilemma, that many have encountered. Some have worked around it by buying the ticket here, then sending the credit card photocopy or something like that. For me jsut sending here the money was easiest. .

This lady got us a one way from Cebu to Atl. Cheap!

know it sounds crazy that  it is Virginia Beach travel and it's in Manila, but this lady really hooked us up and saved us 100's..

PhilippinesAirline Information

My fiance's interview is March 11th assuming all goes well with medical starting tomorrow. And then of course would be the CFO. She would like for me to come to the Phil and fly back with her and our son (3yrs).  She is worried she will miss the connecting flight to Atlanta, GA. If I'm not able to fly there I've considered meeting her at any POE and some other scenarios. I know with some airlines you can request a ground host/ess to assist but I'm not sure how reliable that would be. Oh, and she will be flying domestically from Pagadian City to Manila. Any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance!

The Korean Air Flight into ATL from Manila has a long enough layover in Seoul  it should be no problem. Also the layover in Seoul from Cebu is usally about 3:45

Also the international Terminal in ATL is new and so much easier than the ol international concourse.. No double checking bags, no tram ride etc.

I have flown the Seoul into Atl leg several times and will be again around may 10th.

As for your hostess question, it should be no problem, but I am not sure if they have one.

The only connecting flight she should have should be either Seoul or Narita depending on Airline. Several majors connect there and have straight shots into ATL and are usually cheaper than going thru other cities in the US.

Philippinesbuying a coconut farm

My wife and I are looking to buy a coconut farm soon. We will have her family work on it. Really this is a gift for the family.

As far as an investment does anyone have any experience doing this?

Coconut farms have a harvest every 3-4 months. If it goes well I could get a second one to add to my future retirement income.

I was just curious if anyone here had done this kind of thing before. Thanks

PhilippinesHELP!! MY FIANCE HAS A SICK CHILD. Can I get her here to USA??

My fiance in Davao City, Philippines has a 2 year old daughter who has become very ill. She apparently injured her head while playing and is now hospitalized with internal head trauma and bleeding. She is unconscious the majority of time. The hospital she is in is very poor with inadequate staffing and has little modern medications for treatment. Also I'm afraid they don't have the proper technology to properly diagnose what needs to be done. The medication she requires is expensive even by U.S, standards. My fiance is basically dirt poor as is her family. The little girl's father abandoned them a while back. I have a good steady job but not well-off by any standards. My question to everyattachicon.gif20140304_173027.jpgattachicon.gif20140304_173027.jpgone is.....is there any possible way I could get them here so I have this precious little girl taken care of? I have full health insurance plus great clinics/hospitals nearby. We were just on the verge of filing our K-1 when this happened.(all paperwork ready to go). We recently met in February. I know if I could just get them here she will be alright and in good hands. I'm desperate. I feel so helpless,,,so far away. I love them so much. Any advice or info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I would say there is about a 98% chance you are being scammed. It reads like a play by play of a standard scam.

The CEMAR?   As for my comment I wasn't referring to any church stuff, just government

Dude you are the GURU, but I know before the Methodist pastor said, before she could perform an actual ceremony we either had to get the proper paperwork to get married in Cebu or go to NSO and get the copy of or  Marriage cert. You can go the embassy website and file a report of Philippine married abroad. Then it is legally registered in the Philippines and NSO has a copy.

Hank I really don't keep up with all the K-1 stuff like you do , I am just recalling what we did

Keep up the good work you do here. you help a lot of people

PS you are  patient  . BTW  how long does it take to get my Visa after the interview LOL

Thanks for your response! Weve been checking churches some are just crazy expensive! So thats why we have to go back and see for ourselves on what we really want. I was thinking of looking for a priest that can marry us in the beach hoping not to deal with the legal requirements of a church.
Please do not response you if aint sure about the info. Bcoz it will just confuse me more. I need specific info here. Thank you. And world peace please!!!

Any person licensed to marry you in he Philippines is going to need paperwork of some kind. I highly suggest you file the report of married abroad. It will lessen your burden somewhat . We were married (re vowed) by a Methodist pastor in Cebu. The Catholic church was way too much paperwork and i had been married before.

PhilippinesK1 and married already.Planning to get married again in PI. any suggestions?

Hello, my husband and I are planning to get married again in the Philippines on January 2015. We Got married in Las Vegas , march 3,2014. We are planning to go back this upcoming August to do the preparations. We wanted to do a church wedding and ive asked some requirements that a needed for a wedding. To find out that they require alot of paper works, which we dont want to deal with. Our second plan is to do a beach wedding, we are thinking about bolinao, panggasinan(we met in the beach, in Boracay). So yea im posting bcoz i need some ideas on whats the best thing to do first. Or any suggestions from anybody who got married in the philippines.
Thank you

Jean

make sure to file your report of marriage abroad thing. Then you can pick up your certificate at the NSO. Saves a lot of hassle

We did the same thing

There is no paperwork...

Hank every case may be different but the pastor, that married us the second time in the Philippines required the certificate from the NSo.  That may not be typical just throwing it out there

PhilippinesBuying Airline Ticket for Spouse through Delta Airlines

I just purchased Philippine Airline tkts for my Fiancee thru Priceline.  She can just show the check-in clerk the Itinerary & confirm# at NAIA, right?  Anybody else have experience with this?  Thanks!

If there is one thing that can be said of the Philippines, it's rules and it's bureaucracy. Always expect the un-expected. Some people have had no problems, others have sailed right thru. Good luck.

I have always found take the 100% sure fire path .

PhilippinesBuying Airline Ticket for Spouse through Delta Airlines

Sometimes they check, sometimes they don't. Some airlines are more diligent than others too. Do you really want to risk it and have your fiancee be denied boarding?

exactly thru the years, I have seen some that did it with no problem and heard some had problems. If you have money trust issues you  will know if you fiancee is telling you a good price or not. Of course if you got those issues you may have other problems.

there are other reasons. Someone may be using FF miles, or has happened to me before, the Sponsor may not have 1000 extra liquid dollars sitting around and may need to use a credit card. No shame in that. I suspect that may be the #1 reason.

As for using CC. I have a Korean Air card. They give you 25K miles for signing up. I pay all my bills with and pay it off at the end of the month. After 2 trips to the pI and using he CC, we have enough miles for 2 free tickets. Miles are good for 10 years. Not only that they bumped us up to the Prestige Flyer or whatever you call it. More free baggage and you get free use of the lounges. Being able to use the lounges in Korea is a huge plus after a 14 hour flight

PhilippinesBuying Airline Ticket for Spouse through Delta Airlines

You could email a copy of your credit card (black out all by last 4) and ID to your fiancee, that is what others have done.

I know this has come up a lot thru the years Hank. I am friends with a guy on FB, that use to post here, that did like that. Still seems a lot easier to me to send the money and just let her buy it , to be sure

The Nature BoyMalePhilippines2014-06-26 20:20:00
PhilippinesBuying Airline Ticket for Spouse through Delta Airlines

It depends on when you fly.  Right now it is the summer and the fares are higher.   They will go down in September, back up in December, then back down January through March.  In the age of Expedia and Kayak, the consolidator tickets through a travel agent can sometimes be more expensive. There used to be a regulation in the Philippines that if the travel started in the Philippines, the ticket had to be issued in the Philippines.  The  American travel agent would put it on the airline computer and the beneficiary would go into the airline ticket office and have it issued.  I don't know what the procedure is now.  I am going to have my fiance just buy the ticket in the Philippines to be sure that there is no problem.  Be careful about non-refundable non-changeable tickets in case the beneficiary has a problem.  My fiance is bringing an eight year old with her.  The rules are all different for an emigrant from the Philippines than it would be for a visitor.

That's what I did . She shoped and got a great deal in the PI. Saved us a lot of hassle and money. You are dead on. I just booked for Early Sept come back early Oct Atl-Cebu. It was around 1390 and some change. The summer tickets are usually over 2K for the same route. I don't know why someone would go thru all that hassle, unless they were getting flyer miles free tickets.

I think my wife paid about 810.00 or so one way from Ceb to ATL  in Nov 2011. I know it sounds crazy that VA Beach travel is in Manila, but they saved us a lot. Contact info below

Philippinesgot my MNL

Hi everyone,

It is really true that you have to wait at least 30 minutes before someone would answer your call from the NVC. Great patience is a requirement.  At first, I was thinking that there is a possibility of delays since I have read someone's post about ""glitch crashes visa operations." Fortunately, I was able to get my MNL today. Since I was so excited to give the news to my  fiancé, that I forgot to ask if the approved petition has left NVC. How important it is to know it? I would like to ask what have you written as your ?priority date?? I saw this from the website where you can set up for appointments. Neither NOA1 nor NOA2 has that information. What should I write then?

Thank you. The members here have been very helpful.

If you have a MNL number they have your application, in the system. Hard copy to follow If I am not mistaken we set an appointment within a day of getting it. At the time, the prevailing wisdom was you could not set an appointment until they had your file in hand. Rock and roll. I remember those days .

PhilippinesQ: Ticket name Passport (Maiden) Name or New Married Name for Return visit to Philippines from U.S?

I disagree.

Match the passport name when buying an airline ticket, and bring a marriage certificate that shows all names, showing it at any immigration control point where the officer gets confused.

Your answer is so fundamentally wrong - I pray to all of the Gods that you never, ever give it again in the future.

Darnell when I was getting my K-1, it was amazing how many people would chime in with wrong info. You learned quickly who to trust and who not to.

Word of advice from an Old Timer round here. If Hank tells you something, it's about 99.9999999% chance it's Korrect. A lot of experts come and go.. Sorry about the .00000001 Bro, everybody's human. I just don't keep up with it, like I use to.

Darnell is a pretty sharp cookie also.

As for the Report of  Marriage. You can mail that into the consulate in DC and they will get it recorded in the PI

As for the name change on passport. We went to D.C last summer. They kept her old passport and sent it back to us, and yes it had a hole in it. Of course we did not have travel plans or request expedited. I am not saying others may not have experienced something different at an outreach, only reporting what we did .

PhilippinesQ: Ticket name Passport (Maiden) Name or New Married Name for Return visit to Philippines from U.S?

The name that matches the passport. Bring the marriage certificate to explain why the green card has a different name.

Bingo. We went back before we got her passport changed. We matched the passport as he said. went to Dc later and got it changed

The answer is "match the green card" Inday needs to use her married name because she's legally married to R.K. and her green card needs to match to her plane ticket. Inday's green card is now her permit to enter the US. To play safe just bring Inday's married certificate.

Buzzzzz wrong answer

Philippinesfilipina wifes

Well of course you do, because then they're CABA chicks and exempt. Heck there even used to be a web site that warned you they were about to expire and gave you a selection of new ones. They even customized them for you, Hair color - select black or black, height - select short or short, breast size - select small or smaller. Very accommodating to the western male, wonder why they're no longer out there?

Don't pay Harpa and me any attention. She is a friend from another forum, who likes to give me a hard time on occasion
