We did use joint sponsor for our K1 application, that was my finace's mom.
She had to fill in the same forms as he did (I-134) and sign it too.
So the co-sponsor fills in the same form as your finace, then they get them notarized.

I have quite a specific question for u - I was in The States for two summers on J1 visa and I worked there bothe years (of course everything legally), but the matter is I have not filed my taxes for 2005 and 2006 yet. I think I owe some taxes for the year 2005 but I should get some amount back for 2006 ( i prob. owe 300 for 2005 and i should get back like 500 for 2006).So my question is - would that affect our K1 petition?
I really cannot find the answer to that anywhere. I would greatly appreciate if u could help us...Thank you.

My good friend met his fiancée at a resort when we took him to the Philippines to be my best man at my second wedding with my wife's family. When we all met her, she seemed so nice, however, my wife was not convinced. Since then, so many things have happened that I think my wife was right. We have tried our best to stay on the side lines, but I don't think I can do it any more. I am worried for my friend, and so are the rest of his friends and family.

 

My friend's fiancée just finished her medical and finished paying for her interview (my friend paid of course). It is scheduled for two months out. She does not work, never has, comes from a poor family in Manila, and expects my friend to 100% support her, which he has now been doing for 10 months. The number of family emergencies and doctors visits since then have been unreal. Not only does he support her for food and bills for the house, she gets very angry if he doesn't help with all the emergencies too. Yet, she never shows receipts to him for any of the things he pays for. She says, "the doctor didn't give me a receipt". Whenever he says he can't send more money, she gets mad and unfriends him from facebook. She calls him all kinds of names and then doesn't talk to him for a day or two. After that, she apologizes, gets all nice, and then finally convinces him to send more money. This has happened too many times to count now.

 

My friend recently found out he is going to loose his job, which barely meets the minimum requirements for his fiancée to come here. He is very worried and looking for another. However, his fiancée still wants him to send 14,000 pesos for her birthday on Monday. She wants a big bash.

 

My friend was here this weekend and told us about the party she wanted. I could not believe it. He also mentioned that he was recently contacted by his fiancee's ex boyfriend's girlfriend. She told him that his fiancée is secretly chatting with her ex. She gave him a facebook account name that she is using. On the account, every friend and family member of my friend is blocked, along with him. The top picture on the account said, "I will marry your some day." and was posted about 1 month ago, yet this was not to my friend, because he is blocked from the account. The account is several months old.

 

If this was the only account like that, I may think this other girl made it up. However, my friend's fiancée has another account too, and we've known about this one for quite a while now. Everyone is blocked on this account too.

 

So while discussing this with my friend, and telling him 14,000 pesos for a birthday is way too much since he's about to lose his job, his fiancée contacts him on Skype. He tells me she is going to be mad because he hasn't sent the money yet. I told him to stall so that we can discuss more. He sent her one message "Can't talk right now. Sorry." After that, I could not believe the things she said to him. She started going off on him, for nothing. F U this, FU that. I'm never going to talk to you again. She unfriended him and kept messaging him ####### over and over. I told him to ignore it all and do not respond. In two hours, she'll do a 180 and say she is sorry. I told him to ignore that when it happens too.

 

Of course, my friend cannot give up. He started talking to her again, however, she won't talk to him at my house anymore. He said he got the password for the fb account that we have known about for some time. Yep, everyone was on the blocked list. However, he says the other account is not hers, and the ex bf's gf made it up. He said he told his fiancée he was not going to send money for her bday, and she was okay with it now. He then told me he was thinking of sending 4,000 pesos instead. I told him to not send any more money and if she still comes, maybe she is legit, but I do not think so.

 

Last night, he contacted us and said she is mad again because he won't send the money. Man, this girl is so back and forth, I just can't believe it.

 

I know this post is long, so I won't keep going. I'll add to it as responses come back. What I've mentioned above is only a small piece of the last 10 months. I could keep going for a while.

 

Help me convince my friend that he needs to leave this girl in Manila. He has an account here, and I will show him my post. I need help from other Filipinas that can let him know this is not how a fiancée should act.

Lunch--  Pork, Small rice veggie

Supper- Wings, Salad,Rice

 

I am losing weight like crazy and my blood sugar (type 2) has leveled out so well I have stopped one of my meds.

 

Being boots on the ground I think a nice place can be rented here for around 20K Pesos or less. I have discovered quickly, I don't need a lot of the things I thought I did, like central AC

Your fiance can book his flight for returning in 4 months (or whatever is the length of stay).  When he is clearing customs have him ask for an extension they will stamp his passport for  59 days (for a fee of course).  Then as the 59th day is drawing close he needs to head over to BI office and do another extension.

Ok So our K1 and K2 visas were approved last 6/22 and were just asked the usual questions:

How did we meet?
how many times he visited,
if we had previous marriages,his job,duarations of his stays,.. mostly dates that im pretty sure were answered accurately.. he was just browsing through our docs most of the time during the interview that only lasted for like 6 minutes and said " ok i will approve your visa now and expect it in few days.. goodluck Lance!.." (my 3 year old son)

However i cant help but wonder why he didnt even bother to look at the photo album i really put so much effort in making LOL with all my creativity and even the folder which contains other relationship proof such as emails, plane tickets,hotel reciepts,skype screenshots,engagement ring reciept,money transfer reciepts etc..

Is this usual? if so how many days were you able to have the visa on hand after the interview

We are the 11 of June a few days after you. Based on everything I can see and Igors time line- I look for mine around middle to late October. You could be as early as the very first part of October or as late as the first part of Nov. Hard to say with these things.

Looking at Igors list it looks like several Early to Mid-June filers are getting approved at VSC.. I will say from looking at the list that I think the majority of people do not update their status when they get NOA2. We went from number 200 something to 4 in one day.

I have no idea how they select and in what order. We came in about a month earlier than i thought.

It caught me totally off guard. I had just gotten home and signed onto FB to talk to my fiancee and I looked and I had a text message. I was scared to death it was an RFE, but signed onto website and it was an approval. The E-mail came about 1 hour later..

Ok, first let me get this out of the way:

YES!:
1. We are madly in love!
2. We talk incessantly each day!
3. We are two soul mates fortunate enough to meet each other in this world of 6 billion!
4. We are fully committed to each other and long for the day when we are together "till death do us part".
5. We do become impatient with the extended K-1 visa processing with some days our desire and longing becomes unbearable!

But practically speaking, the 7 to 9 months from NOA 1 to our interview and subsequent approved visa allows the both of us the time to get certain things in order (finances, pay off a few debts, a relocation, health insurance issues, rearrange affairs, etc.) so the start of our life together will be planned and enjoyable. Because we all know that there will be other issues and obstacles thrown into the mix that will need to be dealt with.

How about you, come on, maybe you can't openly say this out loud but is not the 7 to 9 month wait a blessing in disguise!

We have been waiting NINE months since we filed our I-129f K1 petition. No news. We got on RFE on 4/18 asking for another passport photo of me which I sent back ASAP and they confirmed receipt of on May 2. Today has been the "Sixty Days" they have to update us. Nothing. I have been in contact with my Congressman since March, and his congressional aide to immigration has written several emails to Vermont Service Center. We have been told since April (3 months ago) that we are in "background checks" and to check back in six months. Then we had the RFE. No one will give us answers on the phone so I made an InfoPass appointment at the local immigration office to inquire about my case. I had HIGH hopes, as this option was a last resort to get some answers about why.

My fiance flew in to visit me yesterday (he has a valid B1/B2 tourist visa) so we went together to the InfoPass. I thought they would surely give us the time of day. I wasted $15 on cab fare going over there and being treated like garbage.

We checked in and got called up to the counter. As soon as I saw the woman attending us, I knew we were in trouble. She looked very unfriendly and bitter and she was. She was also extremely incompetent. She asked to see "our papers" so I asked her which ones and showed her our NOA1 and other correspondence from the USCIS. I told her we filed for K-1 in October and have not received approval yet. She asked me something about form I-485. I said "no, no, we are not at that stage yet, I only APPLIED we have not been APPROVED yet".

I told her we are getting no answers from anyone and even my Congressman has been involved with no luck. As soon as she heard that, she told me "Oh, well if your Congressman is involved, you can't come to us. We can't TOUCH a case after a Congressman is involved." #######? I NEVER heard that before. I told her, all the Congressman did was e-mail VSC on our behalf and was told the same thing we are. She continued to tell me that she could not do anything if we had already involved a congressman, and that I would have to go back to him to help me, and she wouldn't even be able to see anything on her screen anyway.

Then she asked me why Fiance and I didn't just file a I-130 for him. I was like, UH, we are NOT Married,.....THAT IS WHY WE FILED A FIANCE VISA! How stupid, right? So she looked all confused and said "Oh, I thought you were married!" (why would we have been asking about fiance visa?) and then she asked why we didn't JUST GET MARRIED WHILE MY FIANCE WAS HERE VISITING IN THE US....

I almost flipped out when I heard that. I told her "because I understand that would be ILLEGAL. He is here on a tourist visa and I understand it is illegal to get married while he is on a tourist visa". And then she looked confused and consulted with her co-workers, but then just told me there was nothing she could do and to get back in touch with my congressman.

What a waste. Nine months. I show up there in person with my fiance and was treated like the garbage of the earth. I said, if it is a security issue why would they have let him into the US yesterday? Why would he have this valid tourist visa? And she just said she didn't know and it could take months maybe a criminal has the same name as him or something.

I started crying and she didn't care and so we left.

I am at the end of my rope. Nine months. No answers. Completely in the dark about what is holding up our case or keeping us in "background checks" THIS long, when neither one of us have criminal pasts or anything. No idea when this will end. Months, years from now? I am this close to giving up everything and moving back to Mexico. While I would love for us to be in the states, how long am I supposed to wait, completely in the dark? Another year? 2? 5?

I am completely dejected and feel I have exhausted every single resource. I would welcome any other ideas, if there are any left I have not tried.


Typical Government agency employee. They have no incentive for thier agency to do well, becuse they are funded by the tax payers and do not need repeat business. And some Americans really want these same people running your health care ? Amazing. Keep hammering your congresman, cal your Senator also.

so... amongst all the other stories I've read about or heard here on VJ, ... I'm guessing the best course of action is just to keep calling the NVC and entering your receipt number, every day or so.

secondly, ... go ahead and make an appointment with local immigration office (the squeaky wheel gets the grease??)

thirdly,.... actually ask to talk to live person at NVC?

4thly,.... Wait the 90 days.

I think I asked this on another thread a day or so ago, and didn't get much response:

If you have a K-1 Visa and you are entering the number in the NVC automated response problem, that is your problem. That will not work for a K-1. You have to talk to a live person for the K Visa.

I guess every case is different. I only visited once, and I don't think this is going to be an issue. I know many that married women from the Philippines that only visited once. However every embassy can be a little different. The only legal requirement is 1 time in two years, and USICS cleared my K-1 with no problem.

The reason I only visited once is not because of funds, that is not an issue at all, it is time away from work. I am the manger of a Mid- size manufacturing operation and I just can't go away for 2 and three week spans. The time I went I left on a Thursday and flew back on Saturday of the next week and that is the longest I have ever been away.. I figured that even after filling the k-1 we still had 6-8 months more to get to know each other and you could stop it at any point. Also once they arrive you have 90 days, which in all total is well over a year since first contact. Yes I would marry a stateside woman after knowing her a year.

It don't care if you meet someone online tomorrow and go visit within 2 weeks, it still is going to take you 6-8 months to get them here.and you have 3 months after that, so very little likely hood you will know someone less than a year before you get married.

Just curious, what kind of jobs do many of you have that you can take several 3 week periods off during the course of a year or so ?

Yes that is all that is required. This thread has been asked several times before. Once and your fine. Many many have been approved after only one visit. Most of us do not have careers that allow us to take of 2-3 weeks several times a year.

we did NOA1 to Noa2 to in about 90 days at VSC. for Philippines. We were in a cyclical when VSC was ripping them out. That happens . They build up then they go through periods where they have quick turn around.

I have a FB friend who works at VSC, The official word is a call from the congresman does not help, but they have told me it does. They will push them out just becuse the Director does not want to deal with the people who set his budget.

i am new to this forum , i need some help from vj s . my fiance call me today and tell me that , she receive NOA2 but in the uscis website is still showing the case is on initial review .

can any body suggest me whatss going on with me

So.. How long are you giving yourself to decide if you are gonna retire there?

 

We are here for a month. I am eating their foods, bathing like them with the bucket etc. So far this is my best trip ever. I think I can live here no problem.

 

Odd thing . Eating a Pinoy diet-Example

 

Breakfast--Egg, portion of rice, Chorizo

Lunch--  Pork, Small rice veggie

Supper- Wings, Salad,Rice

 

I am losing weight like crazy and my blood sugar (type 2) has leveled out so well I have stopped one of my meds.

 

Being boots on the ground I think a nice place can be rented here for around 20K Pesos or less. I have discovered quickly, I don't need a lot of the things I thought I did, like central AC

Hear you got a little rain but nothing exciting like up in Manila.

 

We are in Talisay Cebu. We got some serious rain. Went up to Banatyan Island the next day. Really nice place

Your fiance can book his flight for returning in 4 months (or whatever is the length of stay).  When he is clearing customs have him ask for an extension they will stamp his passport for  59 days (for a fee of course).  Then as the 59th day is drawing close he needs to head over to BI office and do another extension.

Hank is spot on, but I will add. When I cleared customs two weeks ago, he gave me a visa good for 1 year. Turns out that is standard for spouses.

 

I know you guys are talking about single people, but it's something I did not know.
