QUOTE (reeses16 @ Dec 2 2008, 07:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
No you need a SSN. How long have you been in the US? I've heard it takes around a month for CR1/IR1 if they checked the SSN box in their paperwork prior to immigration. If its been longer than that just go to the SS office and apply for one.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE STATES LAST 3 WEEKS AGO IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO IN OTHER TO HAVE IT EARLY. MOST OF THE WORK I HAVE BEEN APPLYING FOR REQUIRES ME TO PROVIDE SSN. PLS ADVISE ME.....

Find friends and support through the Nigerian Association. Consider counseling and a consultation with a good immigration attorney if things won't work out.

Stay focused.

Okay, it looks like you're about 10 degrees warmer than Atlanta today. (56 vs. 46)
I know that doesn't make you feel much warmer, but here's some 'get adjusted' advice I can give to go along with it:

  • Add some layers to your wardrobe. Invest in some long johns which I see at Walmart, Target and even the pharmacy. This of course means all your outerwear will have to be a size bigger to accomodate the 'clothes.'
  • Warm your head up with a hat! Skull caps don't always make you feel so pretty when you're a lady, but they help keep you warm and healthy.
  • Make lots of egusi soup. Send some to Pman's wife; she loves it so much! Again, just keep buying bigger clothes... yes.gif rofl.gif

It takes about a year to get acclimated, but those tips should help in the interim.

Thanks alot for the advice, really appreciate it. Just had some Egusi soup with my hubby. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

my thoughts to you: Apply again thru cr1 or k3 (both are for married couples).
The lesson learnt here - there are no short cuts. I understand the desire to see your loved one but it ALWAYS pay in the long run to do the right thing from the beginning though it may delay alittle.

Yes .It was a church wedding. But what we heard was Embassies don't honor Church wedding certificates.

Depends on which church is issuing the certificate. You need to confirm from the registry if that church certificate is recognised by them and you should have filed it with the registry as well.
If you have not done this, i suggest you have a court wedding and just start the process again

At least you have a chance of obtaining that visa. So get to it my friend.

Have your wife send you all the phone records, emails and pictures and so on copied and ready. Even receipts of Western Union has been suggested in some of the posts here.

Her passport has to be stamped going into and leaving Nigeria. There is no such thing that it was not stamped. Hotel receipts and boarding passes etc.

Notarized letters from family and friends stating their knowledge of your ongoing relationship and the duration of this relationship.

Better yet have her come down to Nigeria with all documents they asked for have them ready and when you go in for your interview have her accompany you on that day. This will make the case stronger and your changes of getting that visa better.

Good luck!
[/quot
The passport was stamp. If i may ask, what is a notarized letters? and the contents?. Though she cant make it to the interview because she was here between May and June this year.Because they wont give her chance again in her work place.
Thank you very much.

Welcome. I think it would be wise to first share the documents you initially submitted during your first interview. This will enable us know what's missing if any and what additional information may be required. What does your wife mean by her passports wasn't stamped? Every passport gets an exit/entry stamp at the point of arrival and departure.

Call records showing the destination number is usually advisable these days. Wish you luck as you go about gathering the requested documentation.

Thank you for your response,When i went for the interview, the CO just asked for the call records and photos but did not asked for other documents, i did the photo copies but without the logo of the company on it,and photos. He asked how do we communicated mostly and i said through phone. He said i should bring the call records with logos on it for the past six months to the next interview. My wife's Nigerian passport was stamped she will scan and e-mail the stamped page to me.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)221 g
I resided in Nigeria; I went for an interview on the Aug. 20,2011at US embassy in Lagos. After the interview the CO gave me a document which states that I have been found ineligible under section 221(g) that I have not provided sufficient documentation
It stated that I should bring the following document : proof of correspondence throughout the relationship like letters, emails, and US phone records for the past six months, provided all availlable The CO said I should e-mail if am ready and I have send the mail and the scheduled my appointment for October 25, 2011.
Additional proof of relationship with the petitioner includes but not limited to photographs, correspondence, post marked letters, emails, etc all over a period of several years.
My petitioner (my wife) has gotten me all the phone records but no callings cards because she used to buy it with cash, I have some emails and one post marked letter, have all her boarding passes when she visited me in Nigeria and she said they dont stanp her passport. I really don’t know what else they need to ask from me
I need someone who have been through the same process or who can help me with any other documents that I might need or to enlighten me on the process and what can still be done from now to meet up for the next two months before my interview in October.
Thanking you all in advance for sharing your experience.

Searching VJ here is why you were denied: 212(a) (7) (i)

It seems that your were refused entry initially because they suspected your were planning to give birth in the US and remain (unlawful Immigrant Intent).

The second denial was probably because one you've been refused entry for this reason it is technically like being deported and requires a waiver.

If I remember correctly you can't get such a waiver for non-immigrant visas which would explain why the Embassy didn't inform you of the need for a waiver.

Thank you sir for your view.
Is that to say i should still apply for a waiver?
How do i go about that sir?

Halo

It seems a great family site here.
i am glad i have your support and experience to pull me through.
I am a single never married woman with two children
I am a carrier of the immune deficiency syndrome
I had got my USA Visa and had traveled a couple of times before my trip some 8 years ago when i arrived at the point of entry and was removed with no convincing reason.
I was 7 months gone in my pregnancy and just assumed like they stated i was at risk of having my baby there. A form 1-877 was filled out while the officer signed off a form 1-275 of which i signed off the first two pages n refused signing the 3rd as i had been portrayed as being physically aggressive to the officer which wasn't true.
So i came back had my child and applied to renew my visa in 2004 which was declined on the basis of not having sufficient ties to Nigeria. I found that strange as the circumstances of my getting it the first time had not changed but only gotten better.
However ignorant me; i had a second child and applied in 2006 - i was sure i was to be granted until the officer checked something on his system and decided in their records i was married and again declined on basis of inadequate links to nigeria.
Since then i havent bothered but my children are growing and so much want to meet with the rest of my relaives. While toying with the idea of re-approaching the embassy i keyed in the figures stamped on the visa as per my heading and i feel i had been denied entry based on medical grounds and they just wont come out and tell me.
Given the lifting of the ban on health grounds for inadmissibility - i am wondering who can advise me on how to go about it this time with a positive result. Its been difficult getting legal representation due to disclosure of my health status, discrimination against my children and for job security as such i cant approach any lawyer in Nigeria to advice and handle my case.
Please advice
