Well, my green card expires December 13th. I counted 90 days back and it looks like Sept. 14 is the day. Can I go to the post office today or do I actually have to wait till tomorrow, the 14th, to mail it out?
Oh, and is it okay if the dates on I-751 and the cover letter are a few days early or do they have to be signed not earlier than the day the 90-day window begins?

I can't answer this, but had the same question...so was bringing it up to the top, hoping someone can helpsmilie.gif
thanks...

It appears they have openings for 95 ADJUDICATION OFFICERs nationwide. The jobs are not listed on their site like most federal job opportunities they are listed on usajobs.com It doesn't seem like enough but I guess it's a start.

....

are those 95 positions all open for the Texas service center? wouldn't surprise me lol

The jobs were spread all over the country and were not in the Service Centers but looked to be in the local offices. The really odd thing I did notice was the job listing date was 9/17/07 and the closing date is 9/21/07 not giving potential applicants much time to prepare an application. whistling.gif

We file to remove the conditions for hubby's green card in December for March. I have my fingers crossed that the back log has cleared. I've started my pile of docs and although I'm sure we have enough proof, since our house is deeded in both names and we have two joint bank accounts, joint medical and homeowers insurance. BUT just to be safe. I just asked the home heating oil company to change the account from just my name to both our names. tongue_ss.gif

Our medical insurance only has DH's name on the card even though it's for both of us so there's not much point in sending a copy of that...

You should be able to get something from hubby's employer or the insurance company showing you are insured under the policy. You would have to be listed with them to be covered... good.gif

QUOTE (RichardS @ Nov 16 2007, 10:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi...
Some ADDITIONAL food for thought ....

Send 2005 AND 2006 copies of everything including IRS Filings.
Send copy of any life insurance showing GC holder as beneficiary.
Photos are a plus but not necessary.
If you think you are "too thin" with items, get at least 2 or 3 NOTARIZED affadavits / letter from friends. Don't be embarrassed to ask! This is your shot at removal of conditions so provide as much as possible to avoid an RFE or other action on the part of USCIS.

The key here is that they want to see data from across the past 2 years NOT just current materials ...

Good luck to you!!!

Thanks....I figured the fact that the key is joint deed to the house (submitted as HUD-1) and follow up docs such as joint named HOA bill and two joint bank statements.... I'll send copies from two years ago and from the present (same accounts...thanks for the tip)
It would take me ages to get the life-insurance bene form from my HR. I work for federal govt and our particular HR has been moved off-site. I've had nothing but trouble gets docs and assistance from them.
I have proof of joint health-insurance, car insurance and home-owners insurance.
I'll see how the package looks and decide if I should ask for the affadavits.
I really appreciate the advise.
I've been working on the package for a month or so, in dribs and drabs but expect to more or less finish it up Thanksgiving Weekend....ready to go December 1st.

You dont have to wait for 2 weeks, just call 1-800-829-1040 and request them to send the transcripts to you through Fax.
They will process it in less than 15 mins. Make sure you have a fax right next to you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGetting Anxious....How does this look ?????
We will be filing hubby’s I-751 in about a month and of course, like everyone else I am getting anxious. I was wondering if you all thought this was sufficient?

2006 Taxes (married filed joint)
HUD-1 (house bought in both names – mortgage only in my name since hubby had no SSN at the time)
Two (separate) joint bank accounts with both names
Health Insurance with both names
Auto Insurance declaration with both names
Homeowner’s Insurance declaration with both names
HOA Bill with both names
Water bill with both names
Sewer Bill with both names

What we don’t have is photos. Hubby is a professional photographer and he is always the one to be taking the pix. It was even a struggle for the AOS interview to come up with some. We have no letters, but could get people to write them if necessary. I hate to ask if not necessary.

I appreciate any help, comments etc.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAre there anyone who did not file right on the dot of 90 days.
I work for the Federal Government, and frankly I just don’t get it. I have reviewed tons of high level applications and grants and supervised people that did the same. If my staff took as long to get things done, I would have been fired.
This is not brain surgery….from reading this board I presume a large percentage of the application could be passed through on a first read, if they were well organized and well documented. I know most of the people here take the advice seriously and document organize their info. That leaves another smaller percentage that needs a second scrutiny and of course there are always those FEW that are really suspicious and will take longer.

The people that review these things have instructions/tips/things to look out for etc. I’ve been there done that and have the scars to show it. It’s not a creative thinking project. It should not take this long. If they doubled fee they can certainly afford to hire more people….there are still plenty of people that would love a government job….even working for USCIS.
O.K. rant is over blush.gif . Sorry to get off topic but I had to get that off my chest.

IMHO, you're going to need some more evidence to round out your application. You're great on the financials, and light on the evidence of a bonafide relationship --maybe some pictures? etc.

Thanks for the advice. No pix - hubby is a photographer and I hate to have my pic taken. He is the one taking pix at all the events. It was always my understanding that strong financials (co-mingling of property, bank accounts etc.) is what they really are looking for. Anyone who is committing marriage fraud can have a bunch of huggy kissy photos taken, but I think it unlikely they would jointly buy a house or have a bank account one or the other can empty out.
I guess we'll find out. I'm hoping for the best. If they come back, we'll deal with it.

We are leaving on Saturday for our first trip out of the country since hubby got his g/c and we can leave with a clear conscience...to the sunny Caribbean .

BTW: this is what we are sending

copies of:

his g/c, passport and both of our PA driver's licenses (same address)
joint...health insurance, car insurance, and homeowner insurance
HUD-1 joint home purchase and joint HOA bill, joint water bill and joint sewer bill
Joint taxes for 2006 & 2005 (attached with transcripts from IRS)
Joint Bank account from two banks (statement present and past to how accounts have been joint long standing)

We think our financial documents are strong and did not ask friends for statements.

Good luck to everyone... I keep you all posted and thanks for everyone's help.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionThings are MORE difficult in NJ!!!
QUOTE (jodyangel @ Dec 25 2007, 09:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well thats why I wondered if we had any NJ posters. From our experience, the DMV has No clue what anything means, immigration wise. They will probably refuse to renew his license..which has us worried. PITA!
And does he have to carry the NOA in his pocket at all times to prove he is in status?

So again, are there any NJ posters here in our situation?

I can't really answer your question BUT did hear some bigwig from the NJ DMV on the radio while I listening to NJ 101.5 who made a point of saying that they code the NJ D/L special to indicate that the driver is not a citizen. SO I would think they would be experts on these matters.
My advise is if you get no satisfaction from DMV see your State Rep or State Senator, they should be able to help you.
I will say the PA DMV was pretty crappy overall but in the end when Richard got his 2 year green card they gave him a four year d/l.
Good luck....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestion regarding Social Security card
Hi bettenan,
Yes I live in PA, however when I got my D/L in December of 2005, they gave me a 4 year one - expires 09/25/2009. My EAD expiry date was, I think, March of 2006. My D/L was issued by the Cressona Dept Of Motor Vehicles. I've had my SS card since July of 2005 so it seems I got lucky with the D/L.
Hi Linda & Dave...
So much for consistency. Not too many pleasantries at the D/L center in these parts...and they made sure Richard could not drive when his EAD expired. Of course it was no problem, Green Card and new SSN came before that and his new d/l that expires was issued with exp of 2010.

1) Is my SS card with that message on it still valid? Yes - the card/number is issued for life.
2) Is there any point in applying for a new card with my conditional residency due to expire at the end of next month? No - I'd just wait until you get the new card.
3) Any idea what my employment status is (regarding my current SS card); I have been employed by my company for 21 months now? Your employment status is not based on your social security card, it is based on your status - if you have your LPR, you're authorized to work. As you will be when you get your new 10-year card.

Thanks very much for your reply Karin und Otto, that's extremely reassuring.

Best wishes and a Happy New Year.

Dave

I see from your timeline that your infopass was in Philly, so I presume you live in PA.
When Richard went for his PA D/L with the SS card with the message, they only gave him a D/L with an exp date that match the exp of his EAD.
So...when he got his green card it was off to SS office and they issued a new card with NO restrictions and he was able to get an unrestricted D/L.
So for him it was all about the D/L.

I requested mine about 2 months ago - the transcripts arrived around 1.5 weeks. I would just call ahead & get the transcript. You can always send it in AFTER you get the NOA-1. The NOA-1 gives you opportunity of sending the additional supporting document (it is not RFE).

The problem I have is that greencard expires in another month, and I'm praying the NOA arrives before her drivers license expires. She needs the NOA to extend her drivers license.

In that case I would just send what you have. I think it looks good but of course sending for the transcripts while you wait could not hurt.
BTW... VSC seems to be moving quickly on the NOAs, so you should be be fine. good.gif I guess we were lucky that when Richard got his perm. SS card PA gave him a D/L that doesn't expire until 2010.. I would not want to deal with them again, unless I had to... blink.gif

Copy of her passport with updated (married) name
Copy of I485 approval

Copy of deed to house with raised seal notarized

Copy of medical and dental insurance cards

Is there anything else???

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAm I in trouble?
QUOTE (Lorenzo @ Dec 31 2007, 10:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am worried we will be short on evidence when I file in March because my wife and I have separate bank accounts and credit cards.
I did have several bills set up to include both of our names and the T-Mobile account shows all our phone numbers and the calls made. I also have a Vonage account showing both names with many calls to Ukraine.
My wife and stepson are shown on my health insurance policy but for some reason my auto insurance has them listed but not on the insurance card itself. They are in the system. It is quite possible I can obtain a letter from State Farm. I am purchasing a car for my wife but I left it in my name since I make all the payments and I rarely drive the car. This can be changed but I was told I will need a new contract with the finance company.
This is my first marriage and in the beginning I chose to not have a joint bank account because she did not understand our money system or how to save money. I made the decision to just give her money each week from my account. I have until March 7 to get the evidence together. Are there any changes I can make to be able to have more evidence? We do have plenty of photographs. The other problem is that I rent the house from my family and there is no formal lease (it is a verbal contract).
Thank you.

How about joint taxes ??? If you filed joint taxes be sure to get the transcrpt from the IRS.
I know our application was "heavy" on financials but did not have letters from friends or family or photos. Since you are light on financials you may want to consider letters and photos.
Good luck and

So, other VSCers, keep up hope! We never got a letter saying we needed to provide more information or anything. As always, VisaJourney has made the entire application process run so smoothly and without a lawyer. I'm so happy we're finally done with this. He won't be applying for citizenship, so we're off the hook for 10 years. I guess at that time I'll be back here again haha! Good luck everyone! Thanks for all the help over the past 3-4 years ^^

USCIS says the filing fee is $465, plus an $80 biometrics fee - can we write one check for the total amount ($545), or does this need to be two separate checks.

Thanks in advance!

We did one check for $545 and received our NOA rather promptly...anxiously awaiting an appointment for biometrics...

What exactly am I supposed to do to change the deed of the house so that both our names are on it? (Plus I changed to my married name and want to change my name on it in general anyway). I called the mortgage company and they told me something about a quit claim deed.

Has anyone done this? What were the exact steps you went through? Is this through my county?

TIA

Wiki does a good job of explaining it....http://en.wikipedia....Quit_claim_deed

It varies from State to State and even County to County but often a Title Company or Real Estate Attorney can prepare/file it for you.

my wife received her 10 year green card in the mail yesterday.

I feel like we've run a marathon race, and we made it to the finish line, now time to relax and maybe consider citizenship.

what a long journey it's been!

good luck people, keep going, I'll update my timeline soon, and tell more about our story!

Sorry, about the missing timeline. Please see my signature. Looking at the other VJ members that filed in Vermont I am seriously behind in the timeline. I am really anxious now.

It looks like Philly must be swamped...it's too bad. It looks some of the Newark folks who got their NOAs in Dec already have their bio appointment...looks like we are in the "wrong" local office for swift movement.

Bette

What's your timeline? I seem to be the only one that filed in Vermont last year that doesn't have their appointment!

We applied on 12/10/07. Our NOA is dated 12/14/07 and here we sit. Check the long thread with all the statuses and it appears that other VSC (non-Philly) are starting to get their bio appointments. I see there was someone who got their NOA back in Oct (with a Philly local office) and still had no bio appointment..

I think affidavits are very important. We sent five with Claudeth's paperwork and within a month have already had the biometrics appointment scheduled. We didn't have all the recommended documents so did the affidavits. Good luck good.gif

I'm not commenting on the pros or cons in sending them.. BUT (no offense) I doubt the speed in which you got your
biometrics appointment was based on that. The best I can figure the biometrics appointment it is based on how busy your local office is.

Congratulations to you!!..........although now you have me really worried, I thought Philly was just behind in their processing unsure.gif

Hope it all goes smoothly for you!

It's was your timeline that really had me concerned. I hope your bio date didn't fall through the cracks . I'm not well versed enough to give you advise on what to do (eg: make an infopass appointment, make a call etc. ). Maybe someone else here has an better idea .

I wish you guys the best of luck...

Thanks. I have tried so many times calling the customer service center and every time I ask about my Bio, they say the NOA is good for a year, and processing dates for Vermont is March 1st and I will have to wait 9 months. They are all morons there, that really don't care, they told me infopass will not help me as I need the letter from them first.
I was watching your time closely as we have similar circumstances.........I really do believe they have messed up.

Please post what your experience was like with Philly, and GOOD LUCK!

I promise to keep you updated. I'd also watch the timelines for other Philly people, if too many other people after you get appoinments and you have not heard it may be time to call you Congressman or Senator (hey it's an election year). It drives me nuts that people are treated with such disrespect.
As a long time federal employee (most time as manager) If someone had reported me or one of my staff as being rude and/or disrespectful there would have been/as was hell to pay. They get away with it because they have captive and often frightened audience who they consider second class non-citizens. It really is sad and disgusting....
sorry for the rant.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometric's Appointment.. It's good news and better news !!!
Great news in today's mail... Richard's biometrics appointment letter came (it's for January 30th). OK now for better news (for us)... the Philly USCIS Application Support Center has moved from Center City Philly (long ride, hard to find or expensive parking) to Northeast Philly, which is about 20 minutes from us here in Beautiful Bucks County and that should mean plentiful free parking....

to everyone else waiting...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestion about mailing address for I-751
QUOTE (karenros @ Jan 11 2008, 10:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am getting ready to send my I-751 Application.. My deadline is on 03/02/08 ( thats when my green card expires)

I am gonna send my application to the Texas service center and gonna mail it to the

USCIS Texas Service Center
P.O. Box 850965,
Mesquite, TX 75185-0965

Suppose if i sent by Usps (thru the post office) by the fastest method possible.. will i able to get a confirmation like a person to sign it at the USCIS.. So my question is if I send it to a po. box will i get a confirmation or is there any other address that i need to send it to ...

Any help will be appreciated...

Regards
Karen

We used USPS Express (overnight) comes with automatic tracking and when you put the tracking # in it tells you who signed for it.
It's about $15 but in scheme of things seemed like small price to pay for peace of mind.
I've heard too many people never getting the "green card" from certified mail delievery back.
