K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures1 question I-129F, and 1 for I-134
Dave,

I'm also planning to move before Ann arrives here. But, I just used my current address, what else could you supply them, you don't know your future address.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespassport's?

OK, we will get his passport also. How does it work as her son. Will I have to adopt him or will be be my son after we marry? His father took off and has never been seen after she became pregnant. Hope that doesnt delay him coming with her.

Big question here.. Is the father listed on the Birth Certificate? If I remember correctly, you then also have to go through some additional steps for the Philippine government to prove abandonment, or get approval of the "missing" parent. This is coming off of my memory from the old Asawa Forums.

Anyone know more about this?

Getting a passport, visa, and getting married will not make him your adopted son. You will still have to go through the normal process of adoption.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAn interesting "why" question...
Ponder the question a little further, and the answer is probably very clear..

VSC is limited to the geographical area filled with Politicians from around the world. We wouldn't want our politicians to wait along with the rest of us, would we?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSent to NSC but now at CSC?
lolz, That's the Million Dollar Question..

Remember we're dealing with the U.S. Government, is it supposed to make sense..

I'm sure the reasoning is this: They can select to change the processing center for applications at any time, and by having you send to your local processing center, they don't have to constantly change the information.

Many of the different other applications are still processed at the NSC, just not the K1's. I'm sure if you'd mailed directly to the CSC, it would have been rejected.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSent to NSC but now at CSC?
To Everyone except VSC filers..

Nebraska, Texas, and California Centers are all processed at CSC for K1's.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill age difference matter?
I've talked in person to about a dozen people with age differences of 20+ years, and none of them had any problems with the process.

Annie and I are at the 20 years apart range, of course I'm a kid at heart, and she's mature, so I think we're really the same age.

I don't think a 6 year difference in ages would even raise anyone's eyebrow. That is a very common difference even in USA couples, especially once you exceed the age of 35.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDid they lose our petition package??
I'm just curious..

I assume you have copies of everything. Since you've been waiting so long, have you started refilling out the forms, and getting everything ready, just in case?

It shouldn't take a long time to fill out the forms again, since you already have all the information gathered. I would be getting a replacement packet put together, so IF, they say it is lost, I could send a new one out the same day.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEntering the country married with a K-1 visa
Ann and I are going to have a small party for family and friends in the Philippines before we come to the USA.

Then we plan to have a simple civil wedding in the USA to satisfy the "legal" requirements of our Visa.

When we have finished enough of the process where Ann and I can return to the Philippines for a vacation, we are planning on have a wedding ceremony in the Philippines to share with her family and friends.

We'd rather not tempt fate, and even have a "fake" wedding in the Phlippines first, when we can go this direction, and legally satisfy everyone, and still have a more formal wedding for family later. (Besides it's a good excuse to go back for a couple weeks.)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long after NVC forwards packet until Fiancee recieves packet?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long after NVC forwards packet until Fiancee recieves packet?
I received the letter (dated June 14th) for the National Visa Center with my case number on it, and telling me they were sending to Manila, and that Annie should be receiving her packet soon.

It's now been 5 weeks, and still nothing received by Ann. Is this normal, or extermely long for the Philippines? I've looked at the timeline, and I'm figuring that it is getting to be a bit long.

Do I call the NVC, or the Embassy in Manila to check on the status?

Thank you for any advice..

Barry

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiancee work concern
So, How long has she been involved in Internet Marketing? Affiliate Internet Marketing where you make a percentage of the pay is a respected and acceptable job.

And if I read your post right, she is marketing on the internet, and receiving a percentage of the pay.. sounds like Internet Marketing to me.

Why do you have to define it to the specifics of what she's marketing?

Relax, be general in your answer, I'm sure you'll be fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPregnant Fiancee
Ann's sister is in the process of a K1 Visa, and gave birth to a beautiful son with her Fiance.

He contacted the US Embassy, and the mother went to the Embassy with the birth certificate, and supporting evidence from her fiance. They verified his U.S. Citizenship, and then issued him a passport.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHe is 20 years older should i worry?
Relax, you're still in the right timeframe.

The 20 year difference is nothing to worry about. Annie and I are 20 years difference, and we have been approved for our Visa.

It sounds like you have everything you need, lots of evidence, a good relationship, now you just need to be patient, and deal with each of the challenges as they come up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProving Financial support
All Ann took with her were my W-2's, last years tax forms, a letter from my employer, and I had my two banks give me a statement of my average balance for the last 2 months. (I'll guarantee you, it wasn't an impressive number.)

You should be fine as long as your above the 125% Guidelines.

Actually a personal check is the best option from your standpoint. Then you can easily track it with your bank to find out when it's been deposited.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngagement ring
RenShirls29,

Have you and your fiance met in real during the last two years? Do you have proof of your being together?

I'm guessing YES, since you've made it to the interview process. The engagment ring is not a big problem. You could have him send you a copy of the receipt for the ring. And if they ask, just tell them the truth, that he is bringing it to you, in December.

Everything should be fine, relax and prepare for your interview.

Take care, and God Bless..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow to best use the 90 days prior to marriage k-1
hmmm.. The big issue I see with the Key Logging, is two fold..

#1 - It shows lack of trust. I'm in the Computer industry, and when an individual asks me about key logging to monitor a spouse, I always tell them I'm not a divorce attorney, because once you've hit that point, you're on a downward slide very quickly.

#2 - I expect Ann to have conversations with family and friends in the Philippines that are not going to be 100% Positive about me and the USA. She needs somewhere to discuss her frustrations, fears, concerns, and emotions, other than just with me. I don't anticipate her transition to the USA being effortless and without frustration, loneliness, and homesickness. But we also both anticipate those facts, and are prepared to deal with them. So, if I was key logging, I'd just be stealing her relief, and adding to my concerns...Not a healthy situation.

The 90 days to me seems short more from a logistical standpoint. Getting here, getting settled, changing my blank bacehlor pad walls into "a good arrangement", planning a simple wedding, meeting family, and trying to work, will make 90 days go very fast. (Plus adding in buying a rice cooker, proper pot and pans, finding the right kinds of rice and fish...)

Of course, having known Ann for almost 3 years now, we know each others emotions, strengths, weaknesses, fears, finances, and of course she knows how ugly I am..

If we had known each other for only a few months, and then started down the Visa Journey, maybe I would have all of those worries, but then I'd be planning to slow down, and make sure before I bring her here.

United KingdomWhat kind of music do all you people like???
OMG - I'm sitting here looking at the music on my PC, and in my CD Case..

Black Eyed Peas, Lenny Kravitz, Eminem, Kelly Clarkson, Rascall Flatts, Willie Nelson, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Crazy Frog, Cueshe, Matchbox20, Boston Pops, Chants of Monks, NickelBack, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin....

And the list goes on and on.. I guess I like everything.. (oops, NO DISCO)

Asia: East and PacificHow on earth?
I acquired a Personal Epassporte Visa card from Epassporte.com. Ann keeps this with her, and I can just transfer dollars from my bank account to her Visa card.

Then she just goes to the local ATM and gets the money.

I didn't like Western Union, fees were too high. Inconvenient at times for both of us. And with online banking and the Epassporte, I can be anywhere and transfer the money if I need to.

Asia: East and PacificManila Interview/Co-sponsors
Ok, This is the time to use your "rich" Dad's resources. Find an immigration lawyer, one who specializes on the Philippines, and have a 1 hour sit down conversation with him. Have all of your questions detailed out on paper, before you go to the appointment. Go down the list 1 at a time.

You don't need to have him process you applications, but you should get great advice. If you don't know a highly qualified attorney specializing in the Philippines, then ask the question here on VJ, and I'm sure you'll have an answer quickly.

My quick searching on Google is indicating the Philippines are not allowing K-1 (Fiancee) Co-Sponsors, but are allowing for Co-Sponsors on K-3 (Spouse). But that is just posts from other forums, and is not an expert opinion.

P.S. If you don't have any luck finding one, let me know in a PM, and I'll ask my co-worker who He and his Wife used. They were very happy with the attorney they used.

You can also check with your local Cable TV provider. Cox Communications offers The Filipino Channel (ABS-CBN) for about $12.00/month. But it's only the one channel.
