yeah im going to have myself tested on MONDAY, I feel violated

if she did what she did before you met her, and she still told you about it now, it means she jsut wanted to come clean about it.

now if you test positive for STDs now and assume it's from her and still feel love for her, then don't change a thing.

if you feel violated and betrayed later, the next step is up to you.

remember, it's how you feel deep inside that should matter

QUOTE (Kevin-n-Merlaine @ Dec 7 2009, 01:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I've been working on this for a while now with Merlaine's help. I don't think I've forgotten anything but hoped you all could chime in with your thoughts and opinions.

The photos aren't the best but I think you can see what I have in each of the folders. I used the oversized Avery folders and tabbed sheet protectors.

Then, I have individual page folders for her appointment letter, NBI and police clearance. I'll replace the MNL you can see on the cover letters with the case number after we get one. The file folder photo came out pretty bad but you can see the individual folders in the front. I used the ideas of other members here to put it all together of course...so thank you all smile.gif I'll send this to her via DHL once we've received the NOA2.

i'm so impressed w/your organization. many applicants don't put much effort into it thinking it doesn't matter, but it does because whoever will process your application will not only have an easier time but will also have a good attitude about it because you took time to think about making the evaluation easier for them. just think if you were in their shoes, right!?

PhilippinesManila (Embassy) Interview Procedures
QUOTE (mlr102766 @ Dec 10 2009, 10:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am looking for anyone who has specific information on the K-1 interview procedures in Manila. My fiancee has her interview scheduled for 4 January and I will be there also. For my sons us citizenship appointment we were both part of the interview (of course). However I am hearing that I will not be able to be part of her interview?? That does not sound right?

My question: are both Fiance and Fiancee able to participate in the interview? I am going regardless and will force my way into it if they resist but I am just curious of what happens.

Thanks for any info!

if you check the usem website, only the person who has business ( e.g. interview) at the embassy will be allowed inside but many fiances end up getting in as well, -proof of the leniency of the usem, so don't worry, chances are you will get in too.

PhilippinesWhen are we going to submit DS-156, DS-156k and DS-157?
QUOTE (GuardianAngel @ Dec 14 2009, 09:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am confused as to when are we going to submit those sheets..I have searched through the threads and I found out that in one of the recent medical exams of one of our members, she/he was asked to submit a DS-156. On the contrary, based on the instructions of the Manila Embassy regarding the St. Luke's exam, the paying of the Ds-156 was never mentioned. With regard to the experiences of some members, I have seen some of them not mentioning anything about it.

Does this mean i have to pay the visa processing before the medical?

Do we have to send it to the embassy for assessment?

Hoping for your patience and understanding as I have posted lots of threads already tongue.gif I can't stop thinking about it kasi eh sad.gif

those sheets (156 and 157) are for your interview . you don't need those for the medical. but you do need to pay for the visa application before your interview schedule. also, it's the 157 that is brought to BDO (among the banks you can pay at)

what you need at the medical are the one-time fee, visa-appropriate ID photos (2), interview appointment (photocopy is ok) passport, personal information about your USC fiance/husband

good luck and god bless!

why australian embassy? if your friend's husband is australian, they should look for a website similar to VJ that helps applicants of australian visas.

if he's australian and intends to go and live in the US with your friend, there are certain requirements for him, check out www.uscis.gov

PhilippinesBank Statements for Interview
QUOTE (Mr.&Mrs.A @ Dec 15 2009, 10:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thank you for your reply's. DaleandPat, let me know how it goes at interview. If I understand you correctly, you did not supply bank statements themselves, but rather provided a bank letter stating your total yearly deposits. You know on the I-134 instructions that's all they really require. So maybe printed statements is just unrequired added documentation.

what uscis requires is called a certification from your bank saying that you do have deposit coming from your retirement, or whatever the source is, and includes the length of time you've had the account and so on.

it's more acceptable because it is signed by the bank manager and comes in the bank's official letterhead

QUOTE (George and Movi @ Dec 15 2009, 06:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Today, my fiance arrived in gensan. This is his 11th visit to be with me and my children. For the past 7 years since we have known each other, he lives with us for 3 months every 4 or 5 months. However, due to some financial constraints and while waiting for the results of the petition and finally the visa, it took 13 months between his last visit and now.

We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas and new year together with our friends and family. This will be his 3rd Christmas with us. As we say, fun times for all before the four of us( my fiance, myself and my 2 children) head to States this February. We already received our visas and the plane tickets.

The next 2 months, we will take care of some of the wedding preparations, attend to all stuff at work before i leave, comply with the documentation for the NCLEX, set up the arrangements for the NGO my fiance organized and how will it be run in our absence, and we will see more children this christmas. And of course, we will be spending more time with each other as this will be another long christmas vacation.

For all who will be spending Christmas with their loved ones, CHEERS!! Its time to celebrate! The waiting, patience and determination finally paid off. For those who are still waiting, just keep the faith and hold on. May we have all a blessed Christmas and a bountiful year to come!!

merry christmas!!

She is thinking she has to go back to embasy to see fi they can change it so there might be a delay again errrrrr they can't spell my name right

a minor error (such as doubled letters, i instead of e, single letter instead of double) on your name appearing on her visa is won't be a big issue either when she comes to the US or when she applies for SSN so don't worry

really? a yearbook? laughing.gif

to the OP: like what the others said, NBI and police clearances will help. because these clearances have your picture and your data. SSS ID can help too. it is considered a valid ID.

police clearances are fairly easy to get. i just got mine this morning blush.gif the only thing they asked from me are my cedula and baranggay clearance. cedula is VERY easy to get. you just fill a form and then they give it to you right away. then for the baranggay clearance, all you need is your cedula. both cedula and bgy clearance you get in just a few minutes. then bring those to city hall and get a police clearance. you get your police clearance the same day too assuming you didn't get a "hit" (namesake with a record)

hope that helps. good luck! good.gif

acceptable IDs include those that show info AND photo as well, and issued by a gov. (SScard, NBI, police clearance)

insane as it may seem, a school yearbook is really a valid proof since it's difficult to copy (will take time and talent to come up w/a fake one), it comes from a legit org (the school) and shows many signatures of legit school officials.

PhilippinesSTOP Listening to the advice/opinions of people
QUOTE (Bob 4 Anna @ Dec 18 2009, 10:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Lately I seem to be reading more and more posts where someone is upset because something didn't go the way their family and friends told them it will.

Whenever I hear a Filipino say "That's what I know" I just want to ask them how they obtained such first-hand knowledge of a process they never experienced.

There seem to be a lot of myths about Visas to the US:

--> My young, unemployed GF/Fiancée who has no money can easily get a tourist (visitors) visa to the US.

--> Everyone gets approved for K-1 Visas, they are easier & cheaper than CR/IR Visas. K Visas are also quicker.

--> If you're having trouble getting the documents you need there's always a fixer to do it for you and the Embassy will never know if the documents are "sketchy".

--> The Visa process is a breeze, just fill-up some papers, pay a little money and wait a few months.

--> Jobs are easy to come by in the US so it doesn't matter if my Fiancé/Husband doesn't meet the income guidelines.

Here are the truths:

--> My elderly mother-in-law who has all of her family (except my wife) in the PH, owns a house and has money in the bank might get a visitors Visa but my Wife didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting one.

--> From reading the interview experiences on VJ I'd say that K-1 beneficiaries are asked a lot more questions compared to CR\IR beneficiaries. The K fees may be less to get you to the US but Adjusting Status is a large lump sum that more than covers any savings you see going the K route. CR/IR Visa may take an additional month but you are issued a greencard (production ordered) upon entry and can apply for SSN and work immediately whereas K Visas require additional documents and several months of waiting.

--> The USEM in Manila is aware of the fixers and probably don't really trust NSO documents until they've confirmed them. I've heard rumors that they're connected to NSO computer systems and I wouldn't doubt it. Using a fixer is fraud, get caught and it's a lifetime entry ban!

--> Sure on paper the process isn't difficult, that's why we don't need lawyers or Visa services. What you can't account for on paper is the human factor though. Spending months apart, waiting for a stupid piece of paper from a faceless government agency will wear on your nerves. You'll find yourself wishing that there was some way to find-out exactly where your case is and why you haven't heard from them yet. Even the best of relationships are tried by the process.

--> And finally, we really are in a Recession over here. Yes there are jobs but with double digit unemployment there are a lot of people competing for those jobs. Do you really think employers are going to pick a fresh off the boat immigrant with little or no practical job experience to an over qualified citizen who is willing to work well below their former pay grade? If your USC SO can't afford to support both of you then you will have financial problems. It makes a lot of sense that the USEM is looking harder at co-sponsors. A college student with their parents co-sponsoring will have a better chance than a High School grad (or drop-out) working the deep fryer at McDonalds. Why? Well because the college student has a better chance to earn a real salary in a few years whereas the McDonalds Fry Cook is more likely to still be working the fryer!

and THAT"S WHAT I KNOW!

hmmm... the above looks like info a lawyer would give a prospective visa applicant...

Hello again. My daughter had her interview today at the US Embassy in the Philippines, after failing her medical test in August. Everything went well today except for one item, the AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT. When I applied for the I-864, it was stated that it covered the whole family. And the US EMBASSY and the Counselor knew this, but apparent since the original copy is stored in the archives, they can no longer pull the documents out. And my daughter was told that a NEW I-864 is needed. My wife and I checked the form and this was stated]Often a spouse or minor children obtain visas or adjust statusas dependents of a relative, based on the same visa petition. Ifyou are sponsoring such dependents, you only need to providea photocopy of the original Form I-864, as long as thesedependents are immigrating at the same time as the principalimmigrant or within six months of the time he or sheimmigrates to the United States. You do not need to providecopies of the supporting documents for each of thephotocopied Forms I-864[/font]..What step should we take, please help!! Thanks for taking the time and reading our concern...God Bless

is USEM holding her visa prior to submission of your i864? if you have a photocopy then submit that asap or better, fill out a new one but make sure you put the same info from the original, of if you don't have a photocopy, just fill out a new one...this is an easy matter so you should be ok.

to SCARY and Scary's Wife, your main problem seems to be miscommunication or the lack of it.

it is the rule, more than an exception, that two people who come from different worlds will experience a lot of problems.

unfortunately, the opportunity to get to know each other better when you start living together is interrupted by a lot of things like your family back home needing help, which to filipinos cannot be ignored (because we have very close family ties).

a lot of pinays here on VJ, including myself, agree that they experienced similar problems w/in their first year here in the US, because it's normal when you're in a different place, surrounded by people of a different culture, and very far from your family

but if you still love each other, it's enough reason to do everything to save your marriage.

Everyone involved in the shipping business in the PH are crooks. No question about it.

JUst some concerns.

1. What did you answer on the "Interview Date" on st. lukes form if you don't have any interview date yet? I;m on IR-! visa.

2. If you have relatives in the USA but you dont know their current address and contact numbers anymore.

and Also, If I write there "No relatives" on the st. Lukes form but before I had a denied tourist application at the US embassy manila, 7 years ago and I wrote a distant relative's name and address as a place where I will stay.
As of this time I don't know any relatives current address anymore and dont have any contact with any of them. Will that raise concerns? or is it just ok to write "No relatives" in the US?

Hoping for your help, thanks!

1. leave it blank or put "no date yet"

2. put "no relatives"

-you have to be consistent though, because in your visa application you will be asked if you applied for a visa before and whether it was denied or aprooved.

PhilippinesIdentification Certificate

If I was to reacquire my Filipino citizenship, I'd be required to take the oath in front of the consulate in Washington, D.C. where my state of residence is under jurisdiction. I'm fine with that. But my question is, is it true that I have to take the oath or renew my passport every 5 years w/c I read in one of the discussions here w/c I quote, "She would then have to go to the consulate every five years to renew her Philippine passport. We don't live anywhere near one, so that means paying airfare and hotel for our family to get there every time she needs to renew."?

I've been looking for a specific part of that law mentioning the "5 years" and still can't find it. Is there anybody here who can show it to me? I would love to hear your input on this for accuracy.

In my books, it is ok to do the oath-taking face-to-face once but doing it every 5 years is ridiculous especially for applicants who has to travel that far. Besides, it also involves money, how about for those people who can't afford to do so, like me? Legislators, please do some amendment. What do u guys think?

oath taking is done only once, but renewal is always personal unless the applicant is 65 yrs old or below 8yrs of age

Philippinesif you are shopping online for airline tickets, read this

This is because,,, all of the airlines have a specific number of seats for sale at the lower price point... As you use different search engines to look for flights,,, Those seats are pulled from inventory for 20-30 minutes,,, In case you buy them. Otherwise the search engine fares would not be valid for purchase. After a prefefined time limit. They will be back available at the previous price.

Moral of the story, go ahead and search,, but, if prices start to creep up,, wait 30 mins or so and then purchase. I have heard of others buying tickets at inflated prices because of this,,, and then checking again a few hours after the purchase and the fares dropping back down.

I book maybe 20 t0 30 flights a year,, and I see this pricing model repeated over and over.

Regards,

this is very helpful...thanks for the info!

Philippinesbirth cert worries

Hi all! I'm a newbie here and this is my first post but i visit this site for quite some time. here's my story: My I-601 Waiver was approved and the US Embassy sent me a letter informing me to have a new medical exam, an nbi clearance, filled up ds-230 part 1 and 2, and visa photos.

Not in the list is my birth cert since they already have it but i secured a new one anyway, only to find out that my name was incorrect. The one that I submitted years ago was late registered and for reasons i dont know and the people from nso and our local civil registry can't explain, the original came out. Anyway, i have it corrected i retained the one that all my documents were named. But i didnt notice that even my birthdate was incorrect, i just noticed it this week when im arranging all my documents. There are 3 days discrepancy from what im using. I called our local registry and they said they can't do anything about it only the court can change it but it will take time and quite expensive. The best thing to do is change all my documents with this new birthday. With so little time, I really don't know what to do. Should I just leave it like that and worry about it later, since the embassy is not asking for it? What will be the consequences I am facing? My husband and I have been through a lot and we can not afford another rejection.

I will appreciate any help and honest comments...Thanks!

since the list does not include your BC, then just pray that they're ok with the one you submitted earlier on.

but to be on the safe side, get all the wrong information corrected for future use.

you might want to check out the website of the NSO to see what is required and how long.

good luck and god bless!

I haven't found any topics about this - however a while back I think I found a post where someone stated that they were done with the interview by 1p.m. My fiancee is scheduled on Wednesday at 7a.m. Can anyone share their experiences about how long it took. Also does she need to stay any longer after the interview before leaving Manila?

Thanks

i hope your fiancee's interview went well...and took the average of 3 hrs or less (tehe whole process from getting in line outside to actual interview)

pink slip i hope!

PhilippinesLDR's or Long-Distance Relationships

Hello to my VJ family:)

This topic is for you guys and gals who are currently with their partners in the US. But all other thoughts are welcome as well:)

I am currently on my fourth month of being in a LDR with my husband in CA :( He came in the Philippines to see me last Christmas and stayed 'til the New Year... and once again *sighs* left for the United States :(

Our visa application is still being processed and I know it will be 7-9 more months ( or less God willing) before I will be with him...
I know I'm getting really sentimental right now. I really miss my hubby...:(

Our communication is by constant phone, email and chat. We also send each other photos. I guess what I miss most from everything is his physical presence and the (we're all mature individuals here) the intimacy :(

I just wanted to know how did you guys have kept the love alive within the months you've not been together. How did you survive the long-distance relationship before being finally with your husband/wife/fiancee/fiance/boyfriend/girlfriend?

I hope you can share your stories. Thanks so much.

Cheers.

if you truly love a person, no time nor distance matters. it will always feel as if he's near though his far and with you all the time though he's really not

PhilippinesNBI Clearance
QUOTE (Qiix @ Aug 20 2009, 06:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Our NBI Clearance will expire before our interview so we went and got a new one this week.

The first one in 2008 was approved by NVC in wife's maiden name. Her name says "Luna, Mary y Teresa"

On her new one from 2009 today it says "Luna de Smith, Mary y Teresa"

Smith being my name since we are married now. I'm using ficticious names of course.

I guess that would translate to Luna of Smith, Mary and Teresa

Everything else on the document is in English, but it seems that they are using spanish grammar in the names. Suddenly I,m wondering if we have to go redo this without the Spanish, or is this just part of that strange Legal Vocabulary and all of the NBI Clearances are like this.

The NVC didn't seem to mind the "Mary y Teresa",but I also read that all docs must be translated into English. I know NVC is a busy bunch, maybe they just missed it.

any advice appreciated!

don't worry, they know that it means all other names (second, third etc) used by your wife, as you've seen in your wife's first NBI clearance that is the rule and all NBI clearances are issued looking like that, whether a person has changed status or not. no need for translations. you'll be fine.

PhilippinesE-Ticket

You won't have a problem. I did the same thing for Rosie through NorthWest Airlines. You won't need his CC number or a copy of His I.D.

You only need a couple of copies of the E-Ticket. I always say have 3 copies incase you miss place one you have the other... reason being sometimes flights change and you need you E-ticket to reissue you a NEW TICKET for the NEW FLIGHT.

I love NorthWest you get into the U.S. about 10 a.m. u.s. time instead of sitting all night in an Airport ..in most case all alone. For some and most that is very scarey.

Congratulations and good luck

Rosie and David

although you might not be asked for scanned CC/ID, it's always better to have these, to spare you from surprise hassles...you'll never know

good luck and god bless! smile.gif

Diana just finished her medical. Our interview is next wednesday. 8 days from now. I read here that you should take the medical a month to two weeks before the interview so the embassy can be sure to have the medical stuff. Is 8 days sufficient time? Any experiences. Thanks.

Yep! Shouldn't be any problem as long as she passed the medical. Main reason to have it early is in case evidence of TB pops up.

if your fiance is absolutely sure she hasn't had tb before (and other major health problems that may result in re-examination), then a week is enough to give time for st. luke's to send results to the embassy.

Don't be so worried, as long as the important documents match, then, no problem. You're good to go! Good luck!

school records are not required so you don't even need to include it. you're good to go!

Does St. Lukes request you to leave your passport and will they deliver it to embassy for your interview?

YES as they will forward it to the USEm where the visa is stamped if approved.

yes, during the last step in the medical process (once you're approved), both your passport and ID pics
