Canadamother in law planning wedding!!!! OMG...lol
ok..................My fiance (chris) will be here in 12 days for a visit..............thank god!!! it has been 3 months since seeing each other.
Anyway, i had mentioned about visiting chris in mississippi and now i am seriously thinking about it. i love his mom to death BUt she is planning a wedding. Besides not wanting her to have the responsibility...........me and chris want a small wedding, nothing extra.......
when i go through POE is it a ggod idea to tell them i am going down to mississippi to make wedding arrangements. And besides it looks like it will be another 5 months or so for interview and chris has no holidays left, it would be more convienient for me to go there..

i have bills, bank statements and pay stubs for proof..........BUT i recently got laid off from work becase i am having nose surgery in july. So really i am unemployed for the moment, is that going to be problem?

for a K1 visa, do you need to have part 2 of form 230. If so when do they ask for it.........................is it for the interview?

thanks

Voluntary withdrawl does not affect your petition. They may ask you about it at the interview, just answer truthfully. It should not negatively affect your visa petition.

Do they generally ask for bank statements and/or employment letters on a regular basis? Should I be prepared to show proof of finances / deposits etc?

do you mean at POE to visit or at the interview?

CanadaMontreal: Also to require fee payment in advance.

Seems Montreal is definitely going the way of Vancouver. The below quote is taken from this page at the Montreal Consulate website:

All non-immigrant visa applicants must pay a non-refundable 100 U.S. dollar application fee. Beginning July 1, 2007, this non-refundable fee MUST be paid at any branch of the Scotia Bank. It cannot be paid at the U.S. Consulate General. Individuals applying for U.S. visas at consulates in Canada will need to first deposit the fee at a Scotia Bank branch. The deposit slip (see instructions for obtaining deposit slips below) for your visa application fee consists of 3 pages. A separate set of deposit slips is required for each applicant. Take all three pages of the deposit slip(s) to any branch of the Scotia Bank and pay the non-refundable U.S. visa application fee of US$100.00. The bank teller will stamp all 3 copies of your deposit receipt and should return 2 copies to you. You must submit two validated deposit receipts with your visa application. Unfortunately, applications without these deposit receipts cannot be accepted.

The special pre-coded deposit slip can be downloaded from http://amcits.com/deposit.pdf. It can also be obtained by calling 1.900.451.2778, as part of the appointment process at www.nvars.com, or in person at any U.S. consulate in Canada. Again, we cannot accept applications that do not contain two validated copies of your deposit receipt.

Canadavancouver waiting times

Check the link offered up above. Unless things have changed, it's usually within 2 months.

Carla (F)

Do you know if you actaully have to be working there or is the address good enough. I am planning on going there for 2 months but not working.

thanks

No, I got a job in ft. McMurry alberta. i am moving out there next week. i was asking them wether or not they can tranfer my file. And from my understanding i can as long as i have a job and address in alberta.

I don't know if I understand you correctly. If you're living West of Winnipeg, your interview IS in Vancouver. If you're residing in the East, then your interview is not. It's in Montreal. If you have two months off, it's not like you can just go visit Vancouver, and walk in and have your interview there, or even let them know you're there and when can you schedule an interview...

Can you clarify please?

Thanks!

Congrats on Packet 3.... FAX IT OFF ASAP! Then email them the next day just asking if they got the fax okay and if a date had been scheduled. smile.gif

And from the looks of it, it's still about 1 month from receiving packet 3. There were 2 people who sent back packet 3 this month and their interview is in September.

Also when I sent my P3 back, I asked for "earliest date available appointment after <date>". If you can get to Vancouver on short notice you may wish to just write "earliest available appointment". Stacey33 got her interview in 9 days that way.

I think there's a very good chance you'll be able to get there before November!

You will get there earlier. myself snd chris faxed our checklist back (with the day we wanted interview), 1 hr later i received an emailing saying my interview was scheduled.........it took 2 days to transfer my file from montreal and get interview. it is on 5th of sept.........................THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,
Yes i moved to fort macmurray for work as well and contacted vancouver and asked could they put in a tranfer for me to montreal. By the time i got to Fort Mc my file was transferred and my appointment booked for interview..............It all happened within 2 weeks. If you can get in touch with NVC before file is even sent to Montreal , they will just send it straight to vancouver.

Myself and chris received our interview for sept 5 whereas if we had to wait for Montreal, it would have been december.

good luck and no harm in trying........MAry lou

Ditto. Don't volunteer information - they are the ones asking the questions - short'n sweet indeed.
Best, L.

The interviewer is an overworked, underappreciated bureaucrat. Try to make things as pleasant as possible. As Lanny MacDonald (flames9) states, do not be over anxious. I realize that you are well prepared but keep calm, you're Canadian after all. It's tough but if you get excited try to say phrases like "O my goodness," "I reckon so'" and "What are your parameters?" Avoid alcohol before the interview and do not challenge the interviewer to a steel cage match or a glass of shut up juice. That's about it. Seriously though you'll do fine, most of the interviewers are very nice and very helpful. Be yourself (as opposed to who, Lindsay Lohan?) and everything will be copecetic. Just remember you are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here... smile.gif

Yes now that voluntaring info came up. Will i bring up about being denied entry under swc 212a7A. I am thinking they are going to bring it up seeming i have ticked it off on my ds156 form. If he dont ask ............WHICH I AM SURE THAT ####### HOBO WILL....LOL. ..................I WILL TELL HIM TRUTH....................if i get refused a visa then only one in the truck will be him. A yr of this nightmare is enough for me...............i am ready to go home with chris and sleep.........hehe.....lol..................thanks guys

Canada1 more concern before interview on tuesday
Hey Guys,

On form 156 or 230 not sure now, it states were you ever in U.S before. I stated that i have worked there on a Tn visa. BUT, I worl offshore with a canadian company and sometimes the rigs i were on were in U.S waters. When the contracts were completed we were transported to airport in U.S and sent back to canada.

I stated working for the canadian company but never actualy stated that it was U.S waters. I also travelled to other countries and had connections in U.S airports. Does any of this count as being in U.S. Should i have documented that on forms as well.

Hopefully, I can explain that at interview. YES, maybe I am thinking too much.........3 more days........OMG

thanks.

Canadatrying to relax
Ok guys here is brief on yesterday interview:

Got Downtown around 12 and looked for embassey, not hard to find at all. the oficer at door told us to come back at 1245. We went back and they took our letter and did security check, once that is done they put you on elevator and go to 20 floor. once there they call you 1 by one. There were 4 k1 people there...............3 were members of VJ. We all sat and talked and that made time go by fast.

Once called to window, they just ask for your forms 1 by one, sit again for 5 mins and then fingerprints, sit again for 5 mins and then go up to window with officer. IT IS NOT AN INTEROGATION, IT IS A CONVERSATION!!!!! Every officer from the entry of embassey to the interview window was friendly, polite and i can not say enough , i am so impressed!!

Anyway, we never had to show anything evidence , chris was there so i guess that was evidence enough. Even with my sec 212a7A, i submitted my form stating i was denied, told him i quit my job and that was it. BE HONEST. he looked at chris and said Oh your a police officer, and looked at me and said enjoy your life and congrats. i almost passed out. 10 months of worrying for nothing. One of girls there had wrong B/C and another guy last name spelled wrong, they gave them their visa as well and said mail in correct forms........no problems at all.

Anyway, now all i have to do is go through POE tomorrow in Vancouver. we fly back to Mississippi tomorrow night. Anyone know if vancouver POE is rough. Will they give me hard time or is the k visa a given that you will have no problem? here i go worry about that now. lol

Oh and you pick your visa up day after your interview. Let me know about POE if you know anything, thanks.....mary lou

I didn't really want to say anything before we had all the good news, but here goes. smile.gif

A few weeks ago, Bee got word that a position in his company was opening up due to some management shuffling. Funnily enough, this is the same position that he'd applied to six months ago, but was passed up for another person. His boss said that he'd only put Bee's name into the list of recommendations this time, and then we played the waiting game.

We found out on Friday that Bee is getting the promotion kicking.gif

Since then, we've discussed our options and have decided that I'll be moving over in November, which is WAAAAAAAAY earlier than we thought. (And I am so thrilled because I miss Bee like mad biggrin.gif and leaving my increasingly unbearable living situation early is fantastic.) Which means... omg panicking what do I need to do?!

Here's my list so far:
  • obtain driver's abstract
  • changing addresses
  • cancelling cellular phone service
  • EI and all that jumbledy
  • banking stuff
  • contacting BC MSP for non-residency
  • selling/recycling/donating non-essentials
  • packing my life into boxes
  • figuring out how to get my boxes to PA
  • wondering how I'm going to ship a computer
Am I missing anything tongue.gif and who wants to be the first for awesome advice and big yippees? biggrin.gif

Look on the bright side -- at least you have an option to even enter the US without a waiver having been approved. The majority of people who have to file waivers definitely do not have this option and are forced to remain outside the US (and usually separated from their SO for a long, long time).

With a somewhat valid reason and the right documentation things can happen, but only if you try and make it happen. This will be my last entry into the States for a while, but that doesn't stop Sharon from coming here to visit.

Myself and chris are here discussing you..........we just want everyone to be happy now i guess. But anyway, if you enter U.S on parole, you are in U.S leagally...........................what happens if you get married spur of moment. i know that is probably bad advise but the way i am looking at it.................if it is going to take 18 months for waiver it may be worth your while looking into it.

just curious about it ....................not telling you to do it.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

CanadaHELP please with some info
Hi guys,

I talked to EI today about my claim. I was receiving EI when i left canada and was going to continue receiving it when i got in U.S. I arrived in U. S on sept 7 and got married on 19th of sept. i DID NOT receive a EAD at POE. Because of this I am not allowed to receive benefits until i get my EAD from immigration.

The lady i talked to told me to send her my k1 and i94 and she would check into it for me, she said it was allin the air in their office regarding k1 holders. Is there anyone receiving EI even though they have not received there ead yet?

it do not make sence to me, we are available and willing to work BUT not allowed to...........................!!!

thanks for your quick reply. how long does it usually take to get interview once all forms are in. 1 concern of mine is at 1 point before i met my fiance i was working in U.S on a TN visa. I changed companies and appaerntly i was not allowed to do this. I was home on vacation and returned to U.S in Nov. while going through customs in toronto the officer asked me was i still working with same company and i told him NO. he informed me i was not allowed to work for another comapny in U.S and therefore i would have to go back to Canada.
on all of our k1 fiance process we have documented this and havent had a problem through california, NVC. I am just a little worried that during the interview it may come up, do anyone know if this will cause a problem?

i am sooo stressed out maybe I am worrying too much!!!! lol.........thanks
