Patty, have you tried calling your Congressperson?

Not yet, we were trying to do things in the right way, calling your congressperson should be an last option when your case is over the 5 month mark... but if people do that way before that happens that means that our cases are pulled back...not fair

Not totally true. See the speed of my approval and entire process? That was my congressman's work! :) They might not always help, but they are certainly capable of doing so.

Thats really great for you but totally unfair for all of us who sent our petitions way before you guys and still waiting for USCIS to approve our case :bonk:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations

hmmm... well I'll ask my fiance again, but he said that the doctor told him he needed all of them. I guess if you don't have the record to prove you got them as a child, you have to get the basic ones again to prove that you have them. Did you have a record from your childhood?

I had a letter from the hospital saying that I had had all my vaccines, but the Dr. said it wasn't necessary cause they know how the immunization program is in Chile and he just gave me the shot that wasn't in that program when I was a child...I got one more shot here for AOS, the tetanus one, so basically I got the MMR and Tetanus, that's it. I went to a different Dr. though, but I heard that Dr. Grossman knows better about the visa process and give copies of the documents required for AOS.

He went to have his doctor appointment and she said that he needed to get 8 vaccinations. He has no record from his childhood of which shots he got. She gave him the prescriptions for the required shots. We are not doing them ourselves. He is going to the clinic.

Oh I see  just asking cause its the first chilean case that had to take so many vaccines...hope everything goes well with you guys!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUnauthorized work with tourist visa

Hi Patty:

Thanks for your help :D I hope everything goes well. I pray God for that.

Do you know if I have to send the ds-230 form before the interview or I have to bring it with me to the embassy? I wrote the embassy and they told me I can do both. What did you do?

Carolina.

I sent it back because that was what the letter they sent to me said but I heard that now they let you take the forms with you the day of the interview, I sent the forms back the next day that i got them and then, for the interview, I took the i-134 and the backup documents, medical results, and more proof of our relationship (they didn't ask me for this) so you can do whatever you want, but in my opinion its better if you send them before the interview, so they can check your case in advance. Oh and don't forget that your fiance's signature on the I-134 must be notarized!
God bless you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUnauthorized work with tourist visa

We have a question about our upcoming visa interview. When my fiancee was here in 2009, she was on a tourist visa. She was able to get a job and she worked there for 2-3 weeks on the books. She left before the visa was up and she did not overstay.

She listed the employment on her G325-A form because we thought it was better not to lie/omit any info. The K-1 visa has been approved, we just have the interview.

What are the chances that she will be denied a K-1 visa for this unauthorized work? Will it be forgiven as long as she is honest about it? As soon as she gets here we will be filing her back taxes and taking care of that aspect.

The interview is with the Chilean Embassy.

Thanks for any replies.

I don't think that would be an issue if USCIS already approved your petition in acknowledge of this information, but if you want to be absolutely sure you can always contact the Santiago Embassy Santiagoimmigration@state.gov they are really nice and quick to answer your question
Carolina told me that you are coming to Chile for her interview so that could help a lot in your case and as you said, saying the truth is always the best option. :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa before final interview

Hola a todos!!

My name is Carrie and my fiance Rodrigo and I have been working on filling out forms and getting our paperwork together for his final interview scheduled for July 27th in Santiago, Chile. He received a packet about a month ago that included form DS-230, 156, 156K and 157. Both of us have read the instructions numerous times and have also looked for help on the US embassy in Chile website but we are still very confused. Also, we have sent emails but the embassy does not adequately answer out questions.

First off, should forms DS-230, 156, 156K and 157 (signed/unsigned/duplicated/with photos etc.) all be sent in the embassy before arriving for the interview? I am fairly confident that DS-230 needs to be sent in.

Also, is it weird that the first letter contact that my fiance had with the US embassy included his final interview date without any information regarding his medical examination? The US emailed me back saying that it is very important that he has the medical examination information and so we emailed them saying that it was not included; we are currently waiting for a response. I thought that we would initially receive a packet, send the forms back (whichever they are) and then receive a final packet that includes the medical information.

We pretty much have all the documents together including the affidavit of support and I believe that those need to be presented in person by my fiance on the date of his interview.

Lastly, the fourth step in our instructions says,
--We are not sure what exactly they mean by the declaration and what we are supposed to sign. Is it just the line that appears at the end of page 3 after the list of attached forms or are we missing something. Also, why were we given a final interview date before they have received anything from us?

Please let me know if anyone is familiar with this process and if our information and packet is consistent with those of others. We are still pretty confused and the Embassy does not take phone calls and they have not been prompt or direct in responding to our questions. I am afraid that the 27th is going to get here and my fiance will not have the information about his medical examination or something will not be right.

Thank you,
Carrie

Hi Carrie...
Well, you are right those forms have to be sent before the interview , you have to send them along with the instructions signed and dated, just ask your fiance to sign it in the last page (make copies of everything you are sending to them, as a backup) send them as soon as possible.
The Embassy send packets 3(forms and instructions) and 4 (interview date) all together, if they didn't send the medical forms your fiance can still make an appointment with Dr. Grossman (I don't recommend the other Dr.) and take the interview date letter with him to prove that he need his medical examination before that date...I'm pretty sure the Dr. has more copies of those forms, you can explain them that the Embassy forgot to send the medical forms, he will need a photo too (ID size not passport size).
If you have more questions feel free to email me at kai_47@hotmail.com

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaCHILENOS Y CHILENAS

Hola Patty!!

Bueno si tienes cualquier otra duda, escribeme :D
Dios te bendiga

Hola :D

  • Formulario DS-230 I, Información Biográfica
a) Formulario DS-230 I, Información Biográfica

Did your fiancée get the package from the embassy? They tell you on that package what you have to do before going to the interview, I remember that I had to pay something before the interview and take the receipt with me, make sure to find out this because I know a girl who forgot about it and had to wait longer than usual just because of that, if you don't pay before the interview there is no payment accepted at the embassy. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow should a latin name (first name, fathers last name, mothers last name) be put on the G-325A and I-129F?

My fiance has 4 names, two first names and two last names. I put his 'family name' as his fathers last than his mothers last (in the same space). His first name I put under 'name' and his second name I put under 'middle'. I think that's the best way to fit in all the information but if your fiance has really long last names it might be harder...
Good luck!

That's what i thought at first, but then my fiance saw this on FAQS section here on VJ and it says : What others have done successfully is to use the first (fathers) last name on the forms. Then in the cover letter, state the full name including both last names and that you are only using the first (fathers) last name on the forms.
So he told me to put just my fathers last name in "family name' and he made a state of that in the cover letter. Do you think it would be a problem? I filled in the forms on my computer and then printed them, do think that he can he put my mothers last name next to my fathers in ink??? maybe im just freaking out about this...Sorry for so many questions but that's the only thing that has been bothering me and we are ready to send the petition so i need help!!!!:help:

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1

What does evidence of relationship includes?

1. Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file. 2. Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e) together. Make sure you write your names, date, and location on the back of every photo. Provide two to five photo's. If you only have a single copy of the photo, then make a color copy and send that. If it is a digital photo, have it printed at a company such as kodakgallery.com. You can also make duplicates of photo's at your local photo store (Walgreeens, CVS, etc). Place photo's in a plastic bag or photo sheet and label the sheet. Note that you may not receive originals of photo's back. 3. The following items will not typically show proof of having met in the last two years however will show proof of an ongoing relationship: Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)God bless

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat if?

I have a possible issue and unsure how to approach this. I have sent my fiance the I-864 and other evidence for his interview on Oct. 5th. I was just hired this past week for a job and (orientation is today) so I have not officially started working yet. However, I sent the letter of employment along with the I-864 just in case.

Now my issue is, yesterday, another company is interested in hiring me which is a better job, but this job will most likely not take place until the end of September which is so close to his interview. If they hire me, how would that work since I have already submitted an original/singed I-864 with current part-time job. From my understanding the I-864 has to be an original not a fax version. I wish, I could extend his interview date but from what others have said this is not a good idea, since I am dealing with Morocco. I am afraid, I will get an REF for sure since I cannot submit any pay stubs along with this I-864.

So.... if I get a new job so late in the month, how can I submit this I-864 with a new income so quickly by his interview date?

Thanks for any advice.

Why did you send the I-864? it supposed to be the I-134 since you are applying for a K-1 Visa

you should check it out
