PhilippinesFedEx no longer allowed in Philippines
Not good...with fed ex, it forces the local companies to compete and improve their service but if you take them out and other foreign owned couriers...I'm afraid the the locals will be lax....

8:40 Called to queue for immunization

8:45 Nurse was friendly and accomodating, she asked the same questions like the doctor in the immunization interview and she stuck two needles on each shoulder. Aside from the sting of the needles, I feel fine (Bear in mind I'm a guy with high tolerance to pain and doesn't get sick easily). I was directed to the ground floor for releasing and was told they will call your name for the results.

7:48 Came in 12 mins early since my receipt shows for me to show up for immunization, was immediately directed towards the guard with a podium near the stairs and he looked up my details on the computer and also scanned my finger for the computer to completely pull up my details. He stamped my receipt "For Immunization"...whew! Then proceeded to the 2nd floor

7:49 Dropped off my receipt to the receptionist on the 2nd floor who will call my name when it will be my turn to be immunized.

*NOTE* For Smartphone users who use 3G or LTE to access the internet. Having a "Power Bank" for your devices is a great help especially when you use your devices to go online to kill time while waiting...I'm sure it will provide ease of mind with your loved one with constant updates...

11:20 Finally been called for the medical exam queue but there is still a dude ahead of me.

11:30 My turn, doc sounded and looked pissy and asked a lot of questions. Had to really get naked and bent over so he can check my azz. Half of me feels like I've been violated...weird feeling. After, I was directed to the 2nd floor for immunization interview.

Ditto on Casa Bocobo...I've tried Miramar (no breakfast and wifi) and room isnt as clean as Casa Bocobo, Bayview (has bfast but not free wifi for the price I paid)...SLEC by the way, doesn't have a sign, it looks more like a blue office building not a medical facility. Telltale sign is you see a lot of folks lining up....

It's normal to be sick or feel sick..I had the same 4 shots...two on each arm...both arms feel weak as if I some of the strength from them were gone and the feeling of slight fatigue was there...i shook it off after resting well and eating well a day after...but then again it mAybe because im a guy with high tolerance to pain and doesn't sick that easy.

PhilippinesAsking the CO if IR-1 or CR-1 after approval in the interview
I know I asked this if we can ask this with the border patrol officer at POE...but can we ask the CO as well after you were approved? Would it be proper? Risky?

Thanks

PhilippinesWhen can you leave if your visa is approved?
I think your case is ok...timing his trip to your aunt should be fine, expect him to be questioned but I don't think they'll make a big fuss about it as long as its within the validity.

Thanks. He actually just resigned from his job but people here are telling me that he will get questioned if he doesn't leave once he gets his visa. I am sure if he gets approved his visa might not come until a week or so. It just doesn't make any sense to make 2 trips to the airport 1 week apart. I am aware that the visa is valid from 6 months from the time you take the medical if I am not mistaken.

Philippinesi felt a bit humiliated durig my physical exam
I think the doctors are like that because of the sheer number of folks they screen (and yes even still they dont have the right to do this)...my doctor was sort of pissed off and told the people sitting beside me outside his office to keep quiet. Thanks to VJ, I am prepared that I have to get nakey in front of him in advance otherwise my reaction would be, "EXCUSE ME? " lol

On a side note: Im sure some of my friends of the third sex would love to be examined by my doctor as he does look like "Sir Chief" lol

The nurses especially the ones who did my vitals and immunization were really friendly.

PhilippinesGoing to Cebu to be with Honey. Your thoughts and advise please??
Hey Mike,

I'm a Cebu native, my wifeis the petitioner. As for sending the bike...what I can advise is you may need to disassemble it and put it in a balikbayan box and have it shipped by a balikbayan box shipper and maybe bring some of the parts with you on the plane. My wife sent her parents stuff from household items, canned goods, and etc...it only costs 50-70$ but it takes 1-2 months since they use a ship but at least it gets there at a cheaper cost regardless of the weight. Although I'm not sure how to send it back stateside if that is if you want your bike back....prolly sell it cheap then buy another one once stateside again.

Stuff to do...have you tried:

1. Dive with the whaleshark in Oslob?
2. Bantayan island (a wwwaaayyyyy cheaper alternative to boracay)
3. Camotes Islands
4. Siquijor island
5. Take an international flight to hongkong, singapore (hunt promo fares at cebupacific's site)
6. Bohol's EAT Danao (dunno if you tried ths)
7. Yellow submarine
8. Moalboal

That's what i can think of on top of my head....

PhilippinesLeaving Seattle for the Philippines Tomorrow for our Interview :-)

I know that is easy to say.....but that will not happen until her Visa is in hand.....then, we can really start planning !!! :-)

We are going through all our paperwork now so we will feel comfortable that everything is in place and done correctly.

Thanks Hank for all your great advise and support !!!!

Cheers,

A lil roleplay or interview rehearsal really helps. On a side note...I love the fast and free wifi in Sea Tac airport and its cleanliness compared to jfk

Philippinesscheduling visa interview
Try not to think also helps calm your nerves especially when you had bad experiences with the embassy before.

I was thinking of rescheduling our interview to August 15 also since my fiance completed his medical exam on August 7 and our original interview is set for August 20 but we decided to just stick with the original date to give us another week to go over our files and make sure we do not forget anything for the interview. Just like others advised me stick to your original interview date as you never know you may not get any other available date or may cause a problem. Try not thinking about that it is still a week way so the day goes by fast :) Good luck.

Thank you, yes when I last visited her when she stayed in Parsons, a filipino store was right under her apartment, Chippy, Lucky Me, Ma-ling etc were there...I'm not missing Jobee yet but damn, I saw the photo of the long line that was long as a block when it initially opened.

CONGRATS you finally received your visa :) Your so lucky to finally be with your wife soon. You'll enjoy NY plus so many filipinos around Queens especially by Roosevelt Ave. You won't even miss the Philippines since they have Jollibee & Red Ribbon in Queens now and you can drive to NJ just an hour way if you want some Max's Manila :) A lot of filipino restaurants also on the strip of Roosevelt Ave.
