IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresconfused about vaccination requirements
I just got MMR and Td vaccines, although MMR is suppose to be life lasting (?!), and I got one as a child.

Td is suppose to be given every 10 years, so I understand that. I just hope that I wont need more shots in USA.

Hope you will find a solution for your problem.

Then on Wednesday i went home really depressed and missing my husband like crazy and decided that this checking game was driving me crazy. That i could be obsessing like a maniac for another 4 months and so I stopped. Then yesterday at 4:45 i got the text to check the site, and lord behold it was APPROVED and my NoA2 is on it's way ;)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat Makes a Translation Official?
I translated all of our documents from birth certificate, marriage certificate, bank statements, police certificates, affidavits from family members validating our marriage..... Took me a couple of hours to translate everything and i also used the google translator for words i wasn't familiar with. I also used the above copy on the bottom of all the translations.

It definitely shouldn't cost too much money.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to determine acceptable Medical Center

When will we receive list? Hubby's interview is Sep 19th.

I'm a bit excited and on edge right now :-)

The New Delhi Embassy will not send you any list. You will have to schedule the medical interview yourself and ensure that it's done before the interview.

The list of accepted clinics are on New Delhi Embassy's website. Read through all the instructions and then make an appointment. Depending on which clinic is convenient for your spouse, make an appointment there.

The links are listed below:

http://newdelhi.usem...cal_report.html

http://photos.state....on MAR 2013.pdf

If you want to verify any information, ask your spouse to contact the embassy. Their contact info can be found below:

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow To Bring X-Rays to US?

Hey!

Vishal, hope you already had a safe POE journey and reunited with your spouse.

NLR, I'll ask my wife to probably follow your method as well.

I do have a quick question though. The x-ray report will probably be scanned through the airport security, so do you guys know if the report itself can be damaged somehow due to this?

I would appreciate any information regarding this

Thanks!

I would check it honestly.  Some POE take the CD xrays, many do not.  I was told they were for any physician I have in the USA.   But you could also put it in your carry on luggage if it fits.

Hey Guys,

I will be flying soon but wondering how can I bring my x-ray to US?

Should I put it in Check-In or Carry with me?

In any case, how do you suggest to take it? I mean it's a big x-ray thingy and I don't want it to be bent or torn or something like that.

any ideas appreciated!!

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your case information. Please see below mentioned information on my case K-1 application and please reply back to me about the next steps.

December 6th, 2013 - Mailed application by using USPS 2 day express mailing.
December 9th, 2013 - Application delivered by USPS to Dallas Lockbox.
December 10th, 2013 - Someone from USCIS picked it up.
December 12th, 2013 - Text message and email arrived with application receipt number.
December 13th, 2013 - Status was available online. Stage Initial Review for application - application sent to Texas Services Center for processing.
December 17th, 2013 - Letter arrived in mail with receipt number - NOA1
December 20th, 2013 - Status changed from processing to Alien registration number changed status.

Question: Alien registration number changed status, what does this mean? whats next after this? A lot of people who filed in in late November also stated on this forum that they got their approval. Should I say my approval is also on its way or is it too early. Just so you know my application is at Texas Services Center.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSC filing from abroad - Looking for tips and advice

I'm in a similar boat, filing from Colombia. I wish those of us filing from abroad had a subforum! You, like me, will file for a CR-1, the visa when a couple has been married for fewer than two years. My dad is going to be the co-sponsor because even though I have Colombian residency, I haven't been able to find a job yet. Post #4 is right about proving income. Your location is not what would directly cause you to need a co-sponsor. Just saw your newest post--pay your taxes ASAP!! Even if you have a co-sponsor, you will have to submit that documentation later on.

Register the birth before sending your I-130 packet. Your child is proof of a bonafide marital relationship. (Congratulations, by the way!)

As for the wait being a concern, just be glad you're not an early 2013 filer--their wait times have been horrendous. Things have picked up a bit since then. This forum is great for staying up to date on processing times.

What is different for us...Oh, the payment. Has to be in dollars from an American account. Do you have the checkbook from your account back home with you in Australia? That would make your life easier. If not, it can come from someone else who's willing to do you the favor. Money orders are also accepted, but I don't know how that works. Search the forum for those specifics.

Definitely needs to be a subforum for abroad filers!

I'll work to file my taxes asap. I don't think I owe the government money, it would likely be for record purposes.

That is so sad to hear that the 2013 wait time has been bad. Fingers crossed 2014 is better.

I do still have my checkbook from my US account, so I can make the payment that way. Glad that will make things easier.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSC filing from abroad - Looking for tips and advice

Hi there!

I am also filing from abroad.....I am still in the beginning of the process (waiting for NOA2) but from what I understand you will only need a co-sponsor if you don´t prove income 125% above the poverty line (this can be proved by your US tax transcripts). I live in Brazil, and my salary is so low that I wasn´t even required to file taxes in the US, so I am definitely going to need a co-sponsor, luckily my dad has a good salary and is happy to help out. The other things you mentioned will just be needed to show domicile in the US, in addition to what you mentioned a current drivers license and voters registration could be helpful smile.png good luck!

Hi Kaelabelle,

Thanks for your response! I've been living overseas for 2 1/2 years and must admit, I have not filed my 2012 or 2013 US taxes. I've only filed my Australian taxes. I found it difficult to file my OZ taxes in the US since the tax cycles are different. Is this something I should do asap? April is the deadline so I presume I can try and get them done.

I do have some savings in the US that can show I have fund above the US poverty line. Do you think showing a bank statement of this would help?

Also for domicile, I have a mortgage in the US under my name and my US voting registration in NY is still active. Would these be helpful?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSC filing from abroad - Looking for tips and advice

Hi Everyone,

Im a USC currently living in Australia with my fiance (who is an Australian citizen). In a few weeks we plan to get married. We also recently gave birth to our son who is nearly a month old. The plan is for us to move our little family to the US were we can be closer to my relatives and begin building our lives there.

We plan on applying for a Spouse Visa (IR-1/CR-1 I believe) after we marry then will register a birth abroad to get our little one a SSN and US passport.

My biggest concern is the wait time (6 months - 12 months I believe?) and the fact that I'm living in Australia. Do I need a co-sponsor because of this? I have some active bank accounts in the US and have sent mail to my US address which is under my name via a mortgage.

Any other tips and personal experience stories would be helpful.

Thanks and wish us luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help filling out I-864 form - Petitioner filing from Abroad

Thanks Meehan! Your reply has been very helpful. I feel much better. I think I'll take a similar route as you did when listing your annual income and explain it in the package.

Hi Olives,

I had similar questions in preparing my I-864...

Part 4. Correct

Part 5. Correct

Part 6. There is no clear way to answer this. Personally I noted that I am currently employed and listed my role, however on a covering note I also made reference to the fact that this employment will cease on my departure from Australia. I then listed my current income as $0, and also noted on the covering note that although I am currently employed, my income will cease on my departure from Australia. I reiterated it what felt like a thousand times on the covering letter, but figured better to be safe than sorry.

I went with this option based on what I had seen others do, though my AOS package is yet to be reviewed so the proof will be in the pudding. Because you have a joint sponsor, you could always just write that you are unemployed and list your income as $0 - up to you how you want to approach it. In any case, I think you will need to include a covering letter detailing why you have completed the form the way you have.

Good luck with the rest of the process - looks like you've been fortunate to fly through so far :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help filling out I-864 form - Petitioner filing from Abroad

Hi everyone,

Please help me. My head is spinning after researching and reading countless threads.

This has been very helpful http://www.visajourn...php/NVC_Process

My confusion stems from being a petitioner filing from abroad and filling out the I-864 form. I have some questions and would love your assistance pretty please.

Part 4 - Information on the sponsor

Sponsors mailing address and sponsors place of residence - I've listed my Australian address for both of these fields except for other information. I've listed 'United States' as country of Domicile. I believe this is accurate, am I correct?

Part 5 - Sponsor household size

The total number I've entered in field 8 is 3 which includes myself, my husband (beneficiary), and our son (not included in this process since his status is USC birth from abroad).

Part 6 - Sponsor's Income and Employment

I currently have a job here in Australia which will not carry over to the US when I move. Do I still list my current job or do I leave it out since I'll have to quit when I move?

Item 5. Same question for current income. Do I add my current AUS income or do I leave it out since I'll have to quit when I move?

I've also filed my 2012 and 2013 taxes recently. Just waiting for the IRS to process them. I do have copies of the tax returns I've sent. So I should be right to include them into the form.

NOTE: My aunt will be the co-sponsor so I should be covered on that front in terms of income.

I do have some good items to prove Domicile so I'm not too worry about that. Just want to make sure I fill out the form correctly in my situation.

Good question! If we were to exchange, it would still be 125% the US poverty line in USD.

On part 7 - Our joint account here in Australia technically does exceed 125% of the US federal poverty amount. But it's in AUD dollars. Not sure if that's recognized by US.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTwo specific questions about the I-864 form - Filing from abroad
Hi all,

Could you help answer the following questions:

Part 6 - Sponsor's Income and Employment

13. Federal income tax return information - I plan to submit copies of my last 3 US tax returns. Do I leave this box unchecked? (want to double verify)

Part 7 - Use of assets to supplement income

My husband and I have a joint savings account here in Australia that we can include in this section. Should I add it in since we're abroad and require a co-sponsor? We can provide a copy of our statement to show it as evidence.

Hey All,

Just doing my research for the IV Package and came across a few people who got RFE on police checks from other countries. My husband has mostly lived in Australia but he did temporarily live in England from 2001-2003.

Does he require a police check from England? I'm hoping it was so long ago that the NVC doesn't need it.
