Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all well. I have always used pre paid phone cards to call my fiance in the Philippines. I have saved every one. Will these be of any use to her at her interview?
Stephen

Maybe, if in addition to other evidence. I'd switch my calling method to one that provides call records.

We have over a thousand emails to each other and proof of my three visits to see her. Will not having written phone records really make a big difference at her interview?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescan we abandon K1 and file CR-1?
Our case was also in AP at the Lagos embassy too. My husband's interview was December 31, 2009 and he recieved his visa
sucessfully on June 30, 2010. An AP decision is not a denial it is just a delay. It is a thorough background check that the
embassy does to some visa applicants. It is really YOUR decison at the end of the day but I am just letting you know
about our experience with the Lagos embassy. GOOD LUCK whatever you decide to do.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHad Interview - Reponse: "We will be in touch"

I received this email response from the Jerusalem Consulate. I imagine this means I'm in AP.

Dear Sir;

Your wife’s case is currently being processed for adjudication. Once the visa is issued, we will send it with shaal courier services.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa unit

UPDATE: So I called the DOS Hotline this morning and the woman told me that the Visa was approved yesterday. I'm assuming the AP is finished but I know some people get told they're "approved" at the interview and then get tossed into AP, so I'm not counting my chickens yet! Crossing fingers and still praying.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHad Interview - Reponse: "We will be in touch"
After 9 months of processing, my wife (Israeli citizen) finally had her CR1 immigration visa interview this morning at the US Consulate in Jerusalem. The interview was very cold and mechanical, but my wife answered all the CO's questions as best she could. There was not any attention paid to the documentation or photos. Some answers were better than others and at the end, the CO just said, "OK, you're finished," and took my wife's passport.

My wife asked "What should I tell my husband?" The CO only replied, "I will keep in touch with you." I would have thought the CO would have either said "You're approved" or "You're rejected."

My wife did NOT receive any Refusal Letter at the interview, but she also didn't go to the SHAAL Courier Service to pay for the passport to be returned. I might assume taking her passport was a good sign, but I'm not certain.

Has anyone gone through this process? Can you confirm if she should have received the Refusal Letter if she was refused? Did people who were approved have to go to the SHAAL Courier Service to pay for shipping?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864: a complication
I'm not a tax or legal guy so I have no idea if the Husband needs to sign anything.

But a conservative view of this situation would be to question if the Mother In Law will have enough income by herself in 2010 if she is financially independent from her husband. Meaning, maybe the husband made all the money for the family and now she has no income.

If I were you, I would (A) find another co-sponsor with a cleaner profile or if you cannot, then (B) use the joint 2009 Tax return and include a YTD June or July Pay Statement showing her income for the first half of 2010 is enough to cover the minimum requirement.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe're so young
My fiance is American and we're about to get married soon convinced that that's what we want to do. Believing that we've found our true soulmate.
I'm only 21 and he's soon to be 24 but disregarding our age our marriage is truly serious. We've been together for 18 months and we both agree that we would have waited a while with getting married if the curcumstances wasn't the way the are with me being from Denmark and so on. But we still really wish to say I DO so all the comlications with a LDR is over!

What concerns me is that I am not sure how the interviewer or the USCIS all in all is going to look at our situation, with us being so young and all... I'm afraid we can't convince them that we are sincere!!!!!

Please give me some advice!! Anybody else out there being young and married?????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I Need to Send A Copy of Fiance's Passport?
My fiance is a South Korean national but we met in London. She was there on a student visa. I met her personally on three seperate occasations.

First: While I was working in London with a Work Permit.
Second: I was stationed back in the States and went to London to visit her (this was a pleasure trip and not for business)
Third: I went to South Korea last week.

Do you think I should include a copy of her Passport when sending in my Initial Submission of the I-129F? Or do you think mine would be sufficient?

Thanks in Advaced!

Finally looked at this form properly and got a question about Citizenship/Nationality. I am Russian but live in the UK at present and have done so for the last 4 years. I do have Permanent Right to reside in the UK. My question is should I supply some sort of explanation for the american authorities about my status in the UK? or they don't care about it ?

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on How to Assemble the I-129F
I have a few questions about assembling the I-129F:

I was wondering how I should separate the sections when sending in the Initial Submission of the I-129F.

1- Should I insert a page stating “Proof of having met in person in the past two years” for the evidence part? Or should I just two hole punch and put them all together?

2- Also, what’s an ADCCO fastener? Is it a long clip looking item that goes through each of the two holes at the top of the pages to keep them together? If so, should I just use one fastener or several for each section?

3- The back of my Birth Certificate is blank. I made a copy of it anyway. How should I note that it's the back of my birth certificate? Should I put one of those removeable tabs on it and note it or should I use a pen and write on the copy itself? This also goes for the copy of my visa. I want to show the reviewer where the visa stamps are. What's the best way to do this? Write on the copy or use a removable Post-it tab?

Thanks in advanced for your advice!

BTW - if you tell the US embassy that you have a girlfriend/boyfriend in the US you probably won't get apporoved for a tourist visa. That's what happened to my fiance.

Now we're doing it the right way considering our situation by doing the K-1.

OK ... I called USPS. They said when I ship something with delivery confirmation it does not include delivery tracking. Thus, they don't have to update it until it's delivered.

But check this email I received today.
Shipment Activity Location Date & Time
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delivered LINCOLN NE 68501 11/08/06 5:01am

Acceptance KANSAS CITY MO 64116 11/06/06 10:16am

They delievered it on 11/08 and they finally updated the website on 11/16!

Anyway, I'm just glad to know it got there. I don't want any unnessary bumps in the process, especially since I just stated it.

Cheers everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMailed I-129F - When Will They Receive It?
I mailed off my I-129F Original Submission on Monday, Novemeber 6, 2006. I sent it through USPS Priority mail with delivery confirmation.

As of today I have not received any delivery confirmation and the check has not been deposited yet.

I mailed off my package to the Nebraska Service Center.

It's been a week so far and I'm worried because when I check the delivery confirmation online at the USPS website all that shows is that I mailed it off.

Has anyone had an experience like this? Should I be worried?

Thanks in advanced for your insights.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresabout the case number
Your Application Receipt Number (case number) from USCIS should be 13 characters long and start with "WAC". What notice did your fiance get? Was it a "Notice of Action" letter? If so, then there should be a Application Receipt Number on it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion for Asian K-1 petitioners... especially Korean

Filling out the G-325A form and the I-129F petition for my fiancee is proving a little bit more difficult than we imagined. The main problem is the fact that all my fiancee's information is in Korean, which requires a proper translation. The question is, how accurate can you get with translation of addresses ?

If you know anything about Korean postal system, there is no "city" or "state" like the US has, but just rather a single line that lists everything from province down to the district within the city. I understand that there is a PROPER romanization to all addresses in Korea (and probably in all countries that don't use roman letters) and was wondering if anyone has any clue where i can find this information. So far, we've just done our best to translate it and are just hoping for the best.

Any opinions or people who have gone through this process before ? i tried emailing the US consulate in Korea for more information, but its not working as well as planned X0

Where does your fiance live? Inside of Seoul or outside?

On the Address line just write the english translation of the address. It may be quite long make sure you put in the Dong and the Gu on that line. The "Town or City" should be Seoul and the "State or Country" should be Republic of Korea.

Go to http://www.koreapost...eng.PostInfoEng to find the english translation for the Dong and the Gu and to find the correct 6 digit post code.

For question 16 where it says "If your finace's native alphabet uses other than Roman letters... " what I did was have my fiance send me the Korean font version of the address through an IM message. I just copied and pasted that into the I-129F form.

Oh.. and to confuse you more, when you write it with the Korean font it is sorted backwards from the English font. Example, With English font you go in the order of:
Building Name and Number, Apt Number, Dong, Gu
Seoul, Post Code
Republic of Korea

When writing it in Korean font you do it in this order:
Si (This is the City example Seoul), Gu, Dong
Building Name
Building Number, Apartment #
Seoul, Post Code
Republic of Korea

If you're still stuck then just PM me with your fiance's address. I'll help you figure out what goes where.

This was also one of my most diffult parts when filling out my I-129F. Hope this helps.

I'm filling out the G-325a form.. under the Applicant's residence section in the "Year" field i'm trying to put in 2007, but a "+" sign keeps coming up when i put in any 4 digit number (1999,2006, etc)

This "+" sign is also showing when I print the document. Does anyone know how I can get rid of that sign or how to use smaller fonts for Adobe Reader 7.0 ???

QUOTE (Rusty Englishman @ Jan 2 2008, 09:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey Guys,

Hope you all had a fantastic christmas and best of luck with everything in the new year.

I am finally (3months on) ready to submit the pack to the Missus so she can send on. A few last things i just need to clear up...So i can have complete piece of mind and wont die of Rfeworrydeath.

1) included in pack: proof of ongoing relationship...i have printed off pictures (a medioka high res colour printer! works ofc!) like 6 orso pics at different times, firstly are these ok to be printed? i have also included our phone bills and a few bday cards etc..should i include more? i have read alot of posts where people clearly go overboard..and sometimes less is more, i know i wudnt want to sift through a load of ####### if i was an employee. So my Q is phone bills/pics/bday cards and our boarding pass stubs from aall our flights, is this enough? what else shud i include.

2) Address list, i have lived in so many houses over the past five years and 2 of them (i spent less than 2 months in each) i cant for the life of me remember the full address, i tried googling it etc but i cant remember the postcode..is this a huge problem if i just leave the address as the old one to make sure there is no gap, i mean do they check with the electra roll or tax office? it was about 4 yrs ago orso...

3) so submitting immenently, then will be visiting Dakotah (in Ohio) around Febuary, will i still need a letter from work etc? are they still hot on that if im English? im worried about booking the ticket and gettign turned away, i cant believe its really luck of who u get whether u get in or not, she will kill me if i dont see her on her Bday...so what would be best for me to take? and i dont have tenancy agreement or anything as just sold house..so living back with my mother.

I think thats it, we are ready to rock and roll.

Wish me luck with it! im a tad nervous, as i guess most of u guys were.

Kind Regards

Rusty

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinal checklist before interview
Thanks Gillian,
You are a Godsend! This forum is great, I'd be going crazy without y'all (practising my yank talk! lol).
I still haven't mailed my forms! Keep getting stuck on dates, esp. with regards to travel to the US.
I've been back & forth loads & have lived in the US twice before on different visas, that's how I met my fiance also, whilst living here.
I am currently visiting him in NYC & all my old passports and calenders with these dates are back home in London.
I want to complete and mail the forms asap to get an interview sooner.
Or should I wait till I'm back next week & double check dates & then mail them back to the embassy?
Yours frazzled,
-B

ps I see I need 3 photos now, do we need more for the next stage? AOS/EAD/AP - should I go ahead and get those done now too or will they be too old. I haven't even started looking at the next stage yet. I think my fiance, lostpup has though....
pps Good luck everyone wink.gif We'll make it I'm sure....

How's it going? Funny I am in the same predicament as you but for different reasons of course.

Did you not attach the passport photo's to form DS-156?
I'm not sure whether to send them in with the forms as the form instructs or to take them to the embassy for the interview as the instructions direct?
Or do we do both?
