US Embassy and Consulate Discussionaffidavit of support
i am disabled, so my dad is our co-sponsor.

i'm helping my dad fill out the form, but i have 2 questions:

1) question # 8- the following people are dependent on me for support.

would that be my mother (wholly), me (partially), and my fiance (partially? wholly?)?

2) question #10- i have submitted a visa petition...on behalf of the following person. would my dad put my fiance's name or not since i am the petitioner?

and finally, a good answer for my dad's "relationship" to my fiance?

thanks again in advance!

USCIS has obviously examined your case closely and has considered all of your supporting documentation in detail. They made an informed decision.

Don't therefore be offended of people on this board assume that the government was correct in deciding that you became married solely for immigration purposes.

I cannot offer you any sympathy because I have not seen your case. USCIS has.

And Nigeria is deemed a "high risk" country when it comes to immigration applications. This is a fact. It is not offensive to point this out.

You are not making any sense and obviously don't know about the issue at hand!It was approved by USCIS but sent back for revocation by a power-drunk CO at the embassy who felt it was within his power to decide how real a relationship is by looking at a few papers and being bias against Nigerians just like yourself! And before you point towards fraud like so many ignorant people on VJ have been doing, you all have fraudsters in Europe and there is a particular country whom their women continually scam American men but they don't get scrutinised the same way. People on here should profer solutions and STOP making couples feel like they made the mistake by being together in the first place, if you don't have any useful solution to offer other than BS then do the couple a favour and STFU! I went through London and despite knowing my Fiancee for almost 11 years, the CO still painted me with the same brush and USCIS reaffirmed the case without asking for further evidence and so many cases from Nigeria have been reaffirmed recently without the need for further evidence. So keep your mouth shut about high fraud and what not, you don't know the couple and you should stop being judge and jury!

I am all for sensible discussion, but please do not accuse me of "being bias (sic) against Nigerians." I simply stated a fact. I am making perfect sense.

Also, base, crass insults such as "STFU"? - come on. How old are you?

Do not tell me to "keep (my) mouth shut." This is a forum where we are allowed to air our views, as long as we do not insult others, which is what you seem to enjoy doing. I am not being "judge and jury." I am stating my opinion. Read up on the First Amendment. How do YOU know the case is genuine? Have YOU seen the paperwork?

And applications from all countries have been refused. Most people just don't scream "bias" at the first opportunity. wink.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa Delivery from London
Does anyone know how long it takes for a K1 visa to be delivered from the London US Embassy? I was approved in the interview on Friday (15th), and I paid the courier service to have a pre-8am delivery. It's now Monday, 4.30 pm, and I have just called Secure Mail Services who advised that they have not received it yet. Can anyone advise? How long has it taken for other people to receive their visas?

QUOTE (jen_and_nate @ Apr 30 2009, 04:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello!

My fiance is going to have his medical soon in London, and I was trying to find some reviews of people's experiences at their medicals in London. I know where the reviews of the embassy interviews are, but is there a place for reviews of the medicals?

Thanks!
Jen

After a brief wait, I stripped off, changed into a gown and provided a urine sample. I then had my chest x-rayed and was examined by the doctor, who took a blood sample asked me a few questions and did a standard examination, e.g. shone a torch in my eyes, ears and throat, tested knee reflexes, weighed me, etc. I then went into another room and had a tetanus shot, which was due. All in all, pretty painless. I understand they screen you for HIV, hepatitis and TB (hence chest x-ray). The results are forwarded to the US government medics prior to the visa being issued. Certain vaccinations are necessary, so make sure you have confirmation from your general practitioner.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview date before Packet 3?
Hi folks,

I emailed the US Embassy in Moscow over the weekend to see if they'd received my K1 petition, as it was sent from the NVC on September 26. My fiancee has yet to receive Packet 3. Imagine my shock when I received this email today from the embassy:

We are looking forward to seeing Ms. XXXX here on December 12, at 8 am.

Sincerely,

Customer Service Unit
Consular Section

I thought they waited until she returned the checklist before scheduling the interview?!?!?!?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 received... now what?
Hi folks,

My fiancee received Packet 3 yesterday from the US embassy in Moscow. I read here that there is a checklist and some forms she needs to return to the embassy before they'll send her the P4.

However, she insists that none of the documents direct her to send anything to the embassy. They simply spell out what she must take to her interview (which they have already scheduled, for Dec. 12).

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance to any advice! I tried to search for "packet 3" on the site but I keep getting error messages, so my apologies if this has already been addressed.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3
I had this same question yesterday, as my fiancee's interview will be at the Moscow embassy on Dec. 12 (and I'm assuming yours will be there, also).

Your fiancee doesn't need to send anything back to the embassy, there will be no Packet 4 for her. Her "Packet 3" (for want of a better term) contains her interview invitation, instructions for getting her police report and medical exam, along with a list of all the required docs she'll need to bring with her to the interview.

In our case, my fiancee received this mailing two months prior to her interview date, I'm guessing they think that leaves her plenty of time to gather all her docs, etc.

The only question we have at this point is that the Moscow embassy, beginning Oct. 25, requires her to complete her DS-156 online in fillable PDF format, rather than by hand. She then must print the PDF file as the application attaches a barcode to the document. (You can read about this new requirement here: Electronic Visa Application Form. My fiancee didn't receive these instructions, instead she received a printed DS-156 and was instructed to fill it out by hand. Just to be safe, she's going to complete both forms and bring them to her interview.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionvisa application fee
Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is well. My fiancee is currently in the Philippines. I have a question about the 131.00 machine-readable visa application fee. My fiancee has two daughters. Will she need to pay the 131.00 fee for them as well? I'm asking because I will be sending her money for this fee and wanted to know how much I should send. Thanks...

Hello Everyone,
I hope all is well with you. My fiancee (Filipino) will begin preparing for her interview.
She will need to pay the 131.00 application fee at a bank there. When she does pay this fee
at the bank she will be required to present her Appointment Confirmation Receipt. My question:
When she calls the US Embassy to make an appointment for her interview, will they mail her
an Appointment Confirmation Receipt? Thanks....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionChina Embassy in the Philippines
Hi Everyone,
I hope someone can help me. My fiancee is Filipino. In 2009 a Filipina living in Macau China told
my fiancee that if she will come and be a nanny to her son that she will get her a working visa
at some point while she is there. She went there on a tourist visa. She overstayed her tourist visa
because she thought her employer would at some point get her a working visa. Well, that never happened
so she got nervous because her tourist visa had expired and since her employer hadn't gotten her
a working visa she decided to return to the Philippines. This angered her employer. She was in Macau
about seven months.

In order to get a police certificate for her time there she needs a testimonial letter from her employer
but because she left on bad terms with this Filipina she is certain that her employer will not give
her one. Should she call the China Embassy and explain her situation and ask for their help or what
should she do? Please help. Thank you.

Hmm, not really sure why, but once you fill it out online, you need to print it right away cuz I think you cannot save a filled out form of this. You can fill out the DS-157 using a pen with a blank ink though.

yes..i think now that its not necessary to fill out this form online..i'm visiting my fiancee in

For your first question, yes. However, if in case you forgot to fill out everything online, you can just use a pen with blank ink to fill out the remaining boxes. You can attach your photo before you go to the embassy.

Second question, another yes. It is a must. You don't have to attach it to the form. In my case, my CENOMAR was in a separate folder with my birth certificate and NBI.

thanks..i wasn't sure

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew K-3 visa fee increase
Hello visajourney members:

I have just read that the application fee for the K-3 visa is $350. The previous amount was $131. The embassy called my husband
and told him to bring his passport. I want to know, does he have to pay the balance of $219 or not? They did not tell him
him that he will be interviewed again, they just said for him to bring his passport. My husband and I are real confused about this.
Can anyone advise us about this. Thank you visa journey members. You guys are the best and most helpful people out there.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1
The K1 visa is a non immigrant visa. Your spouse has to
readjust his or her status when they come to the U. S. to
become a permanent resident. It is only allowed for one
entry to to the U.S. and you have to get married within 90
days of entering the US. The petition costs $455 from
the US. When it is approved and sent to the embassy there
are additional fees you have to pay. I also don't know which
stage you are at. Are you trying to apply from the US or are you
already approved because it is not clear from the way you
explained it. "Also, what is the draft Amount ? is it $355+$400 ? seperate drafts or just a single one ?"
I did not understand what you m ea form here. I hope this helps.

Yeah I didn't see it was require to be notarized. Yeah the HR department is creating the letter and is simple and to the point. I just wanted to know if it needed to be more "professional" with the consulate address & wording.
