US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMumbai Consulate Sep Intw Dates posted -- missing few ??

Hi All,

I am not sure if any of you have your interview from Mumbai Consulate, but i just saw that mumbai consulate September interview schedule is posted in there site and i do not see my case number in that list and wanted to check with you guys if you have your case number in there? Below is the link of the website

I got my interview email from NVC with interivew date as Sep 3rd 11:00 AM, but i don't see my case number in the website list

http://mumbai.uscons...t_schedule.html

Please let me know if ur status on this is same too.. thanks

DVV,

Couldn't find our case no. posted either for September 13th. Panicked a bit, but I think they are going to update the list. The list seems too short compared to the August list or even the July list.

I asked my wife to contact the embassy and confirm with them just in case. Will let you guys know if I hear of an update. All of us just want this last leg of the journey to be smooth, so I can understand the alarm bells going off every time something is out of order. Hang in there!

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long till Vietnam Consulate receives documents from NVC?
Hi all,

So I called up the NVC a few weeks ago, they said that they shipped the documents April 11th. I emailed the US Consulate in Vietnam yesterday (from their website: http://hochiminh.usc...vinquiries.html ) and below is their response:

***************************************************
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your inquiry.

As of today, we have received the electronic file of this case. However, we cannot take any further action until the physical file arrives. You will be contacted shortly at your mailing address once the physical file is received at our office.

If you have further inquiries, please DO NOT reply to this email but submit your inquiry again to: http://hochiminh.usc...inquiries.html. We WILL NOT respond to any inquiry sent directly to this email address.

Best regards,
Visa Information Unit
U.S. Consulate General in HCMC
***************************************************

Few comments:
1. What's the point of the electronic copy if you can't do anything with it?
2. They do not seem to accept phone calls or direct emails.... just correspondence to their direct website... IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING!
3. Vietnam is a so called high fraud country. This may be so. However, if you give "coffee" money, everything gets approved. I know for a fact that if you give 25k USD to the interviewer, they will issue the visa the very next day but you will have to leave the country asap and never return. So by extra steps to "prevent" fraud, do they mean extra steps to harass legit couples for coffee monies?

SORRY FOR THE RAMBLINGS... Very frustrating process. I was able to handle everything when it was Stateside. However, now there's no direct correspondence whatsoever in a country where there's a LOT of fraud.

And I love this forum, great place for knowledge and venting...

Any suggestions/commments/response will be greatly appreciated!
THANKS ALL in advance!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCan you schedule Medical exam before getting Embassy Interview?

oh ok... just read the whole thing... yes... call up the doctor and make that appointment... so u can have the medical results in hand for the interview... speeding up the process....

GOOD LUCK!

MrJetzMaleVietnam2013-08-16 17:22:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCan you schedule Medical exam before getting Embassy Interview?

i think they will send u a packet first... you have to fill that out and then they will give an appointment slip for the interview....

then u can go get the medical done.... u can't do the medical without the appointment slip....

after that, you can go to the interview with the medical results letter in hand....

As a general answer to your general question - YES, it will always help for you to go to the interview with your significant other..... however, that is not necessary....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCurrent Income Verification
I am currently putting together a package to go along with my I-134. I think the document you have along with any bank statements that show the income flowing in along with a letter from your company should be sufficient.

You should ask your HR department to draft a letter on the company letterhead along the lines of

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter serves to confirm that [NAME] is presently employed by [Company name] as a [your position] in our [your departmnt] at [company address]. His/her date of hire is [date of hire] as a full time employee. His annual salary is [annual salary] and he/she is eligible to recieve a discretionary bonus at the end of each year.

Should you require additional information, please call [your HR department/supervisor]

You don't have to notarize anything for London.

That's weird, then why does the London site say it has to be? This process is difficult enough without mixed information.

Thanks for the info.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion1-134 During Tax Season

They actually start asking/demanding the prior year in about mid Febuary. So no waiting until April 15 if you have immigration things before that.

That's fine, as I usually file in Jan anyway...but I will not be able to get official tax transcripts that close to my filing date...is a regular pdf of my return ok?

Wait, you didn't get anything notarized?
gap1FemaleUnited Kingdom2010-10-19 16:16:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussion1-134 During Tax Season

I only provided income information - the exact same things you propose. I left all fields regarding assets blank on all affidavits.

That's a relief! Thanks.

Also, the I-134 has to be notarized, correct? Is the form itself notarized or do you have to type up something else and have that notarized?
gap1FemaleUnited Kingdom2010-10-19 14:54:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussion1-134 During Tax Season

Actually, you don't need to show the previous year's stuff until April 15th, I mean, if the IRS doesn't require that you've filed, how could the embassies?

If you're feeling nervous, then document your current income in other ways in addition to the 2009 tax transcript - employer letter, W-2 for 2010, pay stubs, etc.

Also, since you've been approved at the London embassy, I may as well ask:

I am only planning on showing proof of income (letter from employer, tax returns and pay stubs) on my I-134. Is this ok? I don't own property and do not want to list my bank account balances as they are sad at the moment. My income is well over what is required, do you think that is enough?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion1-134 During Tax Season

gap1, do you know when the W2 (or is it W4?? I can never remember, it's a T4 in Canada...) available to file your taxes? Do your employers send it in the beginning of January?

Yes, you can file as soon as you get your W2s (beginning in Jan). It depends on the employer though, as some mail them out and some have it available on an HR website. Mailing may take longer, but most get it early in the month. I usually have mine filed by Feb 1.

i know you already took your decision but why not continue both path until you get interview date? many people are doing both paths and then if the cr1 gets completed prior k3 interview date they switch their interviews to cr1.

Did you email the Consulate? It's possible they may have extended your validity date on their own. I don't know that you would be "denied". They will advise you, but it may be that your case will be considered "abandoned". If that is the case, you'll want to reapply and pursue a CR-1, not a K-3. You'll need to get married for this first, and then with your marriage certificate, make application. He'll be able to visit you in the interim, the same as if he'd been with a K-1, but right now a CR-1 is taking about 8 months I think in Canada, so he couldn't live with you for 8 months before returning for an interview, but could for awhile. Please let us know what you find out from the Consulate!
Wishing you luck!

thank you for your concern and luck!
the consulate wrote to me today and told us to just move our asses with the paperwork (i am taking liberties with their words, of course)! i forgot that we had damage to the first checklist they sent us originally and sent us another in march! so our paperwork was still within the 4 month period BARELY.
i'm sure you can imagine the relief! we were just so close to the end we didn't want to even consider another option. lots of praying from family and friends went on and i know that made all the difference smile.gif

thank you again for the concern. you cant imagine how it is appreciated!!! star_smile.gif

Phew!! I'm so glad that you got moving on this and got the finances together within the deadline! All the best! Make sure you check out the Canada forum for additional information about package 3, and your interview!! rose.gif

You will have to address/withdraw the K1 petition that you have already filed before filing anything else. Just letting it sit prevents you from submitting any other petition.

As he is in the system assosciated with a K1 the CBP may ask for more proof of ties to home.

None of us want to be apart from our loved ones. Playing the sympathy card won't get you anywhere with USCIS or the CBP.

Before you worry about alternate plans contact the consulate and get some answers from them regarding your K1 petition.

i would never do anything to violate the system. i'm hoping we WONT have to go the k3 route because we were almost home in regards to the k1. we were going to get him the medical on august 17th, and then...

the last time anything got filed was in april when i did the online ds-130. the time just got away from me and i wasnt aware of the 4 month validity. i feel so stupid and so sick about this. i did everything else right. we were so orangized and i'm just so worried about the conversation with the consulate on monday. i hope they see that this case is certainly NOT abandoned...at least on our end. we just had money difficulty and needed more time. had i known, i wouldve absolutely asked for an extension.
i guess now i'm just looking into other options if we are indeed denied (god forbid)

thanks for your answer...

there may be a chance that my fiancee and i screwed up and took too long to answer to our noa2 due to monetary problems.
i wont know if our case is closed until monday and i am distraught at the thought that we may be denied for being a few weeks late in getting in touch with the consulate. we had no idea there was a 4 month validity period.

please advise...

if my fiancee were to come here and we got married, could he stay here with me while we file a k3? i could get him on my lease and we have more than enough proof that we have a legitimate relationship. we just don't want to be apart anymore.

thanks in advance.
