K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC - Five-Month Hold???

Hey, at least one more day has gone by now! Happy Monday! :)

I can understand why people don't like Socal... it's ... overwhelming, is the first and foremost word I would use to describe it. Northern California is a lot more laid back and easy going.... not 9000 million people all up in your face constantly... hahah I enjoy Northern CA as well, but for some reason, I love Southern CA. I think maybe because it's the polar opposite of whpere I grew up, in rural Nova Scotia. hahaha, my parents still have to drive 10 minutes to get a carton of milk. And everything closes at like 5 pm, we JUST got Sunday shopping in NS a few years ago, and it's just so archaic.... beautiful spot, just living in the 1400's, haha... so anyway, I figure that's why I enjoy California. Home of 24-hour everything!!

sad note, fiance's grandma is in the hospital, so happy thoughts/prayers for her

Side note, why is my VJ time 1 hour off my clock? My computer clock says 6:59, but my post just said 7:59. Did something not get changed with daylight savings?

The number of people don't bother me, I live in a city of 8 million. I just find Socal people (especially LA) very superficial (not everyone of course). I hate that you can't take public transportation easily and everyone drives. I also think I'd develop an eating disorder within a few weeks of moving there.

Yes, it's Monday. Another week, another lack of update.

Hey, quit writing on VJ and go write in your blog! :P

I know, it's been too long. Tom is going to kill me. I just can't get motivated to do anything but stare at the calendar and feel sorry for myself lately. I can't wait until I can stop dreading the present so much.

Nah I hate Southern California. It's a great place to visit though. We're hoping to move to San Francisco. :P

I completely understand what you mean about wanting to get the US leg of immigration over with. He doesn't want to settle here, he just wants to spend a few years on this side of the Atlantic. I'm hoping he doesn't get too attached because I want to move there badly.

I'm from Chicago, so the bulk of my family and friends are here. We already had an engagement party here last month when he visited. It was amazing. The best part about this distance problem (on a very short list of pros) is that we get to double the parties!

The system might be broken, but it's the only legal option we have of immigrating. I agree it's tough to be without your loved one.
We get to see our fiances around the same time!! Are you already making plans and such for your visit?? Haha I'm trying to restrain myself, since we'll have family obligations over the holidays, but I just want to make an intinerary of plans haha.... I love doing new things together, and we always try to experience something new together on each visit, even if it's something seemingly lame like going to a museum we haven't been to. When he was here in September, we went to Niagara Falls! It was awesome and even better because we were together.

Have you been to the Tower of London on a visit??? When my fiance and I went there last summer (he grew up in the UK and his family still lives there), we did all the touristy stuff but didn't get a chance to actually DO any of it, we just kinda took pictures outside... next time, I really want to do the Tower of London tour. haha, I'm such a geeky tourist.

I haven't been to the Tower of London since the first time I visited the UK in 02. It's cool to see once, but quite touristy. I am obsessed with Westminster Abbey. No matter how many times I see London I have to walk past Big Ben and just bask in its shadows. I'm in love with England, I hope we move there in a few years.

Since then I've made loads of friends in England so I tend to just hang out at their flats and go on train or road trips outside of London. When I visit next month we're going to drive to Bath and Cornwall, then his mom is letting us use her house for a big engagement party. I can't wait.

Well I think everyone is just frustrated and misses their loved ones. It is a bit crazy to make people wait this long for something that takes 15 minutes. It's a very broken system.

That said, I really need to see some July approvals this week. Something. ANYTHING. I'm dying here.

I also have never been to a fortune teller, nor do I ever plan to go.... my fiance and I are semi-religious, we go to church once in a while and say grace and count our blessing and all the rest. We are not fanatics or anything, but we enjoy our faith.
I think your attitude is really good, because I doubt it would take more than 3 months from NOA2 to interview. If it helps, you are probably more prepared than most when they get Packet 3, and won't have any delays sending it back. And, 3 months on peoples' timelines includes the time it takes to get to NVC, then embassy, and get P3 to the beneficiary... it's not like it's 3 months from sending back Packet 3.
In case you didn't know, here's a semi-short cut (I figured it out too late). Wait until you get the letter from NVC with the new London case number.. then wait a day or two, and call DOS. They will tell you if Packet 3 has been sent yet. If it has, you can send the information back to the embassy, because (at least for Montreal), there is NOTHING in Packet 3 you actually need to send back. You actually have to download all the forms online. I didn't realize that, and we wasted 11 days. It was sent on the 1st, and I only got it on Tuesday and sent it back yesterday. I know it's not a HUGE time saver, but 12 days is still 12 days.

Don't let other people bring you down. A positive attitude carries you far in life and will definitely continue to help with immigration!!

For what it's worth, I think an April wedding is still 100% feasible. :)

This is fantastic advice! 12 days is a long time and precious. I've been researching the London embassy on here and it looks like the same story with packet 3, can any UK filers confirm this?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC - Five-Month Hold???
Well I'm not spiritual or religious, and I certainly don't see a fortune teller....BUT even if we do have a 3 month wait at the UK embassy it still puts him here in Feb/early Mar as long as the STUPID NOA2 arrives soon. All along we had been planning things for the worst case scenario. Sadly it looks like the worst case scenario is reality. We're still planning the wedding for April and I think that's do-able as long as we don't get caught up in any paperwork snags. If the NOA2 arrives in late November or early December that gives us all of December-January-February for embassy stuff.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC - Five-Month Hold???

All but one VJ member, who have filled in their timeline correctly, with either upcoming or that have recently gone through interview, have been more towards the three month mark. That is taking into account the delay in getting packet3 back to the embassy. Even VJ member Dodi, who got approved in 22 days, then had to wait just short of 3 months to get to interview.
If USCIS are backed up enough to be taking as long as they are to process petitions, then it makes sense that it is going to have a knock on affect at the consulates.

I really hope i am wrong, especially in your case, where you have been made to wait long enough for the petition approval.

Good luck, and i hope your NOA2 is just around the corner

Exactly. I think most of those delays were due to the delay in returning the packets to the embassy and we are prepared to drop it in the post the next day.

In any case, thanks a lot for ruining my day. Maybe he'll move in by 2014.

Yeah it would suck if you got put in AP or they took a long time to print your visa (Montreal is famous for that). I'm lucky that way, between here (where my parents live) and A's city is less than 2 hours by car. The rest of my family lives 2-2.5hrs from here but that still isn't very far, it's like a 4 or 5 hour drive for them.

What the balls is AP?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC - Five-Month Hold???

gap1 hasn't come along yet, so i will correct you. London is taking just short of 3 months to process from NVC to interview. I wouldn't call that fast.
If i were going through Bucharest, then i would be overjoyed. Just short of 1 month to process from NVC to interview.

And VSC is catching CSC up. The latest approval taking 4 months.

That's not true at all! I've seen VJers on here go through London much faster than 3 months recently. Please don't scare me. It takes on average about 2 between NVC and interview. That's ok though, since I'm trying REAL HARD to be positive, if we get our NoA2 in the next few weeks that still puts us on our schedule (we're hoping he's moving in by late Feb).

OH GOD that emoticon is terrifying!

Anyway, yes I'm beyond tired of the questions. People watch the film Green Card and think it's that easy. My friends are like, "So, um, didn't you like get engaged forever ago? Should we be requesting off work for a wedding or something?" It's so difficult when we have so many of his friends and family planning on flying here for the wedding and we can't really tell them to book flights until we at least know the interview date. I'm telling everyone when the time comes to just buy an insured flight, so at the very least they can move around the dates if need be.

I hope so, but then again...the CSC seems to have stopped at the moment so who knows if our petition will ever get there haha.

I wish I could focus on something else, but he's all I think about every moment of every day. We're in constant contact (as I'm sure everyone else is). We haven't gone longer than four hours without speaking for a year now. I know it will happen, but there isn't a big enough distraction in the world to make this wait easier.

I wasn't suggesting they'd look at my application before yours, I was just saying they should be on June/July soon (while maybe not all of May has been approved, according to people on VJ most have gotten their NOA2s by now). I'm like you, I'm sort of in between months. We filed June 30th and the NOA1 was July 7th.

Yeah I mean, I knew I'd have to wait...but it seems like no one has gotten an NOA2 that filed in June/July from the CSC. This is worrying me. You have a point though about being lucky.. I forget sometimes, how good I have it. When I think of people whose Fiance(e)s can't even visit them in the US because they can't get a tourist visa, it breaks my heart. I, and the rest of the visa waiver program countries, have it really easy. We can come and go between the US and our SO's countries almost as we please. Yes it's expensive, and yes were all putting ourselves in ridiculous debt doing it, but at least we have the choice. My heart goes out to those who don't. :(

You are so right. I didn't even think of that. Yes, in that respect I can go there anytime. We are very fortunate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSlow Down at CSC

Just because you haven't seen approvals from CSC recently doesn't mean that there have not been. People forget to update timelines on VisaJourney all the time. Plus VJ represents a very small amount of the petitions going through, it is possible that the few K-1's represented here just have not been approved amongst the thousands they have.

Sure, I suppose that's POSSIBLE...but it hasn't just been "recently". There has been basically no activity (reported here) in 3 months. That's a very long time. The odds of every single VJ filer in June/July simply forgetting to update their timeline (especially when reading about our frustrations with the CSC) are low.
gap1FemaleUnited Kingdom2010-10-15 11:34:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSlow Down at CSC
Yes, but the VSC is clearly working again and getting back on track.

Well look at it this way. If the reason for the CSC delay is due to a secret Democrat-led mandate on prioritizing other types of immigrant applications over ours because of the upcoming election, at least Election Day is only a few weeks away and, theoretically, they should be back to K visas in November (god, I can't believe it's nearly been another month without any approvals).

I have a feeling Republicans are going to do well this election.

Please don't say that, this process stresses me out enough.

This is CSC right now--super slow in processing I-129F packages.

Don't believe the haters here in denial (or more likely in ignorance) declaring that things are just going thru normal cycles.

Maybe, just maybe, CSC got a special assignment to help process AS MANY CITIZENS AS POSSIBLE RIGHT BEFORE THE ELECTIONS.... (Shhhh, now THAT has NEVER happened before under a Democratic POTUS!)

ps, voter registration cut-off day is Oct 18th, so still time to sign folks up. And yes, immigrants strongly vote Democrat. And the Dems don't need any extra votes this year, do they....

If that were the case, the VSC would have the same assignment.

You just used the emoticon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe CSC Received over 2,000 I-129Fs in August

First, I am not looking at the negative side of things. I am looking at it from a economic and political viewpoint. I could care less about waiting as I anticipated it BUT there are ways of handling things more efficiently. All my posts are about how things can (and should be) handled differently to provide equitable service to all. Second, maybe the government should operate as a private instiution when it comes to the demand for visas. When there is an increase in visas then increase your staff to address the issue to make your goal. The "they cannot anticipate demand" is a lousy excuse especially when there are so many unemployed citizens. Next, as a taxpayer, fee payor, and US born citizen I expect more from my government regarding fees for service. If I am paying for a service, I expect a service. If I pay my taxes late, I can incur a penalty. If they process late, then I have the right to question why I am paying for less than I receive. It may or may not do any good but I do have the RIGHT to state what I feel about it. Why should someone that has a clean record and clearcut case wait months NOT because they have issues with their case but because they are sitting on a shelf somewhere????? It only take 15 or so minutes to adjudicate a file that is complete and problem-free. Finally I am not lucky to be eligible to apply for citizenship as I already have it. I am speaking from a processing standpoint and as the petitioner. My fiance and I already said it's not about the citizenship, it's about the being together so if he can't come here, I will go there. It would be nice for him to come here but it's not all about obtaining American citizenship as much as two people in love being together.

I am not unsympathetic to the USCIS adjudicators but I will not sit here and remotely pretend to think this process is the best. Thank you for showing the other side of the picture.

So incredibly true. I couldn't believe it when I read that it takes the UK a month tops to process these sorts of visas.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC Just Reported Processing Times for October

LisaMarie - I know exactly how you feel. I have not seen my husband since February of this year. It is torture having to wait through all of these different stages in the immigration process. Sometimes, I wish I just stayed in the UK with my husband, and told my mother to find someone else to care for my elderly grandmother. Not that I don't love her, but being apart from my husband makes me feel very incomplete.

At least you've had time to be with him. I'm not trying to diminish your wait, it's awful for everyone regardless of situation (and I can't imagine going that long between visits), I'm just relating in that my fiance and I have never had longer than a month together ever. It's been a week here and a week there every three months or so for nearly a year. We haven't had the chance to be together in a real way and it's beyond frustrating. I just want this part to be over. I think I could even deal with the embassy wait stage without much discomfort, it's just this ridiculous NoA2 thing I can't handle. To not even know where you are in line after months of waiting without an update is cruel and unusual punishment.

David and Kez were technically a July NOA1... read there story... USCIS screwed up and they didn't get it until 9-01, but should have gotten it in late July. I don't really get it either... they "seem" to go in chronological order but sometimes it looks like they go out of order too?

It actually says June 14, but that is wrong too as most people in early June haven't heard. There is actually one person in June saying they sent, got NOA1, RFE, and NOA2 all on the same day (like June 18)..
I'm sure that is throwing things wayyyy off. Check out Igors List.

I have, but I'm not sure I understand how to read it properly. I'm here right now: http://www.visajourn...filers.php?cfl= and it shows someone (David and Kezia)got their first NOA on Sept 1st and their NOA2 on 10-14 from the CSC. How can that be true if they haven't even processed June, July or August? There is another couple as well (Todd and Aiko) who received their NOA1 7-26 and got an NOA2 8-23 when no one was getting approvals.
