Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConditional GC Approved without Interview

Mawilson: nothing here yet. Last touch was in June 24.

 :o

my I-485 was touched... but nothing on the I-751 since 7 July

When was your I-485 touched?

Strangely enough, my I-485 was also touched in January -- exactly one year after the approval date.
(I haven't filed the I-751 yet.)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRenewing Driver's License with extension letter-
QUOTE (zqt3344 @ Feb 27 2008, 02:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well NY and CA better get ready cause there is this little known unheard of stealth law on the books now that Michael Chertoff and the Justice Department along with Bush and his merry men have pushed through in some law, which is the REAL ID act, sadly NY and CA will be forced to join it just like all the other states in order to issue a driver license that meets the supposed federal guidelines if you plan on using it for ID or travel outside your state and to punish states that balk at it, good ole Dept of Homeland Security will recommend to cut federal funds to those states among other little needles that have been given to them to stick states DMV enough times until they all comply in the coming future within about 5 years or sooner from what I have read and seen on news, what a mess this country has become since Bush!

There's nothing in the Real ID Act that says that license holders must prove their immigration status
every time they renew their licenses.

I agree with you that it's a horrible piece of legislation. The linking of State DMV databases is what
worries me the most.

By the way, California is known to be pro-Real-ID, whereas New York is anti-Real-ID.

YES, they(DMV of any state) require the same of a USA citizen, even those of us born here and living here all our life, it is called life after 9/11/2001 and the Patriot Act via REAL ID pushed by Dept of Homeland Security, Congress and Bush the almighty! So no, USA citizens do not get off easy either, I have to bring about 5 plus pieces of lega documents now when I renewed my driver license, sadly.

Not any state. At least NY and CA automatically renew your license - you only have to prove your status once.

I had no idea other states were so strict.

If the green card is expired, then, according to their logic, the legal status is also expired

The logic would make sense if the statement was true; however, it's not -- the legal status of a permanent resident does not expire when the green card expires.

QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Feb 26 2008, 07:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Baumdeor is not removing restrictions of her DL - she is renewing her whole Driver's License, and Georgia requires valid proof of legal immigrant status in order to do that.

Interesting. Do they require the same of citizens too?

Why does the DMV care when your Green Card expires?

A Green Card, conditional or otherwise, should be enough to remove all restrictions from your Driver's License.

Duh, if there's no money to protect, there's no need for a prenup. My point is that if there are assets to protect (and you're in no position to make specualtions about my assets or lack thereof thank you very much), that does not necessarily mean that a person will feel the need to request a prenup. I know women who have more assets than their future husbands that would not dream of asking them to sign a prenup.

So I don't know what your brilliant point is.

It does in most cases - that was my point.

If you think that it doesn't, then you probably don't have THAT much to protect.

Seems then that the superrich should probably only be marrying the superrich.

Not necessarily - even the super-rich aren't immune from thinking with their hearts
rather than their heads - but the super-rich do tend to protect their assets, especially
if it's a family business and other people are affected.

Money tends to corrupt -- when millions of dollars are involved, you can never trust
your instincts and be 100% sure about someone's intentions.

And you're way off base anyway. It's the principle of the matter. It has nothing to do with how much money either partner has.

If there's no money to protect, there's no need for a prenup, is there?

ETA: What the fukc is your problem anyway? Leave me alone.

Are you talking to me?

In America, this conversation wouldn't phase or insult a girl one bit, it's just smart for both parties to discuss these sorts of things BEFORE marriage.

I don't think that's an accurate statement. I know plenty of American women, including myself, who would be insulted.

Probably because you have no significant assets to protect.

Big fecking surprise?! Mrs. Cat is going to hell. Like I didn't already know that. rolleyes.gif

I had sex well before marriage (heck with more than several men). I've been a glutton plenty of times. I've never been baptized. I've taken the Lord's name in vain and even suggested that Mary was a #######.

Trust me - its not a news flash that the almighty God doesn't want me in his kingdom.

And while I think everyone should feel free to express their religious beliefs, I think everyone should accept the fact that not everyone shares your sentiments and that they'll express their religious/non-religious beliefs in their own way.

You have time to repent all your sins...and God will be happy if you'll do that...He loves us so much and all the times He forgives us!!! AMEN!!!

I can sin my whole life and repent before death and be accepted into God's mighty kingdom? I'm liking this religion more and more.

"Babybunny" has never said a kind word to anyone, or contributed anything
useful to any thread or topic. She is extremely offensive, aggressive, rude
and disrespectful, not to mention a racist.

And this is a fine example of the "disease" in this forum of attacking someone's character publically. I, for one, would love to see these comments go private with Ewok and not more character-bashing. Just my opinion. It's just further TOS violation...

I don't believe in "ratting" on people behind their backs. I blocked Babybunny
over a year ago, but her vile language continues to offend as a result of being
quoted by others I don't want to block.

Anyhow, if there is at least *one* person here who disagrees with the above
statement and thinks "Babybunny" is a nice person, I will retract it and apologise.

What's Halal? Is that Arab for "Kosher"?

I'm not sure what kosher means in that language but halal is basically "allowed" in Arabic.

In "that language" kosher means "right, proper".

Is there a difference between Kosher food and Halal food?

If the two are not the same, which one's more restrictive?

Is Halal Kosher or Kosher Halal?

I think you can be racist and not have any effect (because you're a nobody) but you're still a racist.

Precisely -- however it appears that some forms of racism are more acceptable than others
(as evidenced by the racist BET channel, which spews racist programming and rap music
24 hours a day.)
