Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussian swearwords
Let's see what I've learned so far.

Hui = #######
Pizda = C*nt

Huyovi = Very bad
Pizdati = Very good

So far, so good (a language invented by men, no doubt!)

However, what's the story with "ohuitelni"? (Also means "very good"?)

Ummmm..no.......it's a man, and a woman thing.

The man shaves before bed so that the stubble doesn't scratch the sensitve areas.

#### that, nothing wrong with some facial hair.

Always shave before bed (you'll learn why, ask her)

Why, I'm curious. Is it a Ukrainian thing?

That's a very good question. How?

Trust me on this one...an Alaskan chick in that situation would never run to the American consulate. She might ask for a drink afterwards...but no consulate.

Real classy.

So if there's this guy who puts a gun at my head and say: either you jump off this train or you move to Russia, or I'm gonna cut off your balls and then shoot you in the back, it's something to think about. But if my wife wanted to move to Russia, I would wish her farewell and the best of luck for the rest of her natural life. Life it precious, too precious to #### it up like that.

USCIS accepts translations "certified" by someone who states to be fluent in both languages.

Including me? The petitioner?

Yep, including yourself. I translated a document in French for my own RFE and they accepted it just fine.

You don't have to be there for the interview -- I don't think it makes any difference.

If the consular officer asks him why you're not there, Rey could just tell him the truth --
that you already visited a couple of months ago and you're not made of money.

According to CIA-The World Factbook Colombia is, in English, spelled with an O instead of an U.

Duh. You must think I'm an idiot. ;)

Christopher Columbus was his anglicized name.

So calling the US of A columbia is right, but the guys' name in spanish is spelled with an o, therefore the country's name should be and is spelled with an o.

But that doesn't change the undeniable fact that Brazil with an S is a typo.

Dude. Did you even read my post? *sigh*

I type Brazil. And you know what irritates me? "Columbia" when the person meant Colombia, the country.

It should be "Columbia" because that's how we spell "Columbus".

You don't spell his name "Colombus", do you? If anything, it should be Colónia
after Cristóbal Colón (Spanish for Christopher Columbus).

I don't think I will any safer in NYC to be honest.

What makes you say that? NYC is one of the safest cities in the world (relative to its size.)
It went through a bad patch in the '80s but since then the city has definitely cleaned up its act
and restored safety. Some neighbourhoods are better than others but most are safe.

That means that I already feel safe here. And I read about that a lot. But SP is already perfect for me.

Why don't you just stay in SP then? Ah I remember............. Alex hates SP.

Charles, it was meant as a joke. It's only a personal attack if you take it personally. ;) (snarky wink added in tribute to you)

You can't be completely unfunny and then ask people to laugh.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaDuties/Declare for bringing in an engagement ring?

if the value of the ring exceeds the amount allowed in duty free into the states, she could run into the same issue if he bought the ring in brazil, that's my point. she'd have to declare it then too and probably pay a duty on it, would she not?

No such thing for immigrants?

The duty-free exemption only applies to U.S. residents travelling abroad and bringing
merchandise back to the U.S. without having to pay duty.

(I believe people immigrating to the U.S. can bring all their personal possessions
and even monetary instruments up to some enormous limit (like $1,000,000)
without having declare a thing.)

Half of the lemon? I don't know the joke...

(Sorry just catching up.)

Desenterrou, hein?

There is thing here(i don't know if you have it in english) that your beloved half is the other half of the orange.

So, if you don't find your half of the orange, look for your half of the lemon, add some sugar and some cachaça and be happy.

(Lemon/Lime + Sugar + Cachaça = Caipirinha)

Nice one! :lol:

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAdvice: is it a good idea to pay a lawyer for help with K-3?
Generally speaking, if you're not an idiot, you can do it yourself.

If you are an idiot when it comes to filing papers and decide to hire an immigration
attorney to do it for you, no problem - just make sure the attorney you hire is not
an idiot. A lot of "immigration lawyers" out there are complete idiots who don't
know the first thing about immigration.

A friend of mine hired one such idiot lawyer who told him that the I-130 could
not be filed concurrently with the I-485. The idiot filed the I-130 first and wasted
6 months of my friend's time while he was out of status waiting for its approval.

Be very careful who you hire.

Just my 2c.
