K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSend chocolate kisses to USCIS to get there attention
QUOTE (palilover @ Nov 6 2007, 11:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
er....perhaps I should get a job with USCIS now? I've been in the mood for chocolate. And historically, if I am fed on the job at someone else's expense, I am a better worker:)
However, did it ever occur to some people that you may actually slow down USCIS by sending them a big box of chocolates? Too busy eating chocolates to work on your cases:)
Although if I was a supervisor opening the box and I was short on meeting my quotas because of some slack off phone monkeys or approval people, I know how to get them to work faster...BRIBE with the chocolates!:) There, more cases approved AND my quota goes up.

Personally, I'm hoping for a sugar-rush fed productivity surge! we can only dream. tongue.gif

Nah, there's a few I'm sure. Me and Lora, and probably a host of non-posters. I'm thinking about setting up a calendar and starting a betting pool with Pete, and whoever gets the date right gets a prize. (sole control of the radio console during christmas visit probably. we just cannot agree on music ever)

might be an interesting distraction.

I hope everyone waiting is blessed with their noa2 very very soon. I know how hard it is to come here and read all these approvals.....

First I want to thank ALL of you for your support and putting up with my mood swings...I know this is hard. For those not approved yet, you time IS coming...I think they are getting the message and the pressure is on to get those April, May, June filers waiting approved. I just hope your noa2's come soon.

With that said...Im happy to announce...that...

I just spoke with my congressman's office. They called VSC and spoke to their contact there. Apparently, this is someone they always call and is a high up there (not one of the useless customer service idiots). She said my case is currently with an adjucator. If I don't hear anything in 30 days they can call back.

Good news is my petition is with an adjucator. Bad news...why wouldn't I hear anything by 30 days?? I feel a little relieved though that it isn't in a dusty crate in the corner of a trailor parked out back in an abandoned parking lot.

They told me the same thing. Here's hoping!

STATISTICS I PULLED:

OF JUNE FILERS 64% OF THOSE FILED HAVE BEEN APPROVED
OF JULY FILERS 37% HAVE BEEN APPROVED WHICH IM HAPPY FOR.....

THAT MEANS THAT 36% ARE STILL WAITING ON WORD OF THEIR PETITIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOWEVER....Does anyone else find it odd that 36% of June filers are still waiting for word on their petitions while VSC is currently starting to work the last half of July?? Am I off base? To wonder why July filers were being approved BEFORE my JUNE file ever was assigned???? Does this information back up the USCIS's commitment of processing first come first served? Am I alone in feeling this is very very unfair..and that the mismanagement of this system has caused tons of heartaches?

Im contacting my senators office today to get answers......

Well, as a fellow June filer, I agree tongue.gif

Im almost sorry I called..... crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

I got Officer Nancy...who seemed nice but seemed to have a different story. When I called the other day, she said the adjudicator had gotten my case...would be ordering name checks which take a few days and I'll hear shortly after that. THen I get these touches.

NOW today she said he's had it since NOVEMBER 21. That the touch today was simply an update to some data in the system, and that I should call back in 30 days. Many there are on vacation and that some work slower than others (BY AN ENTIRE MONTH??? WHERES MANAGEMENT???) . That it could still be 30 more days.....Ok Im officially broken. No more positive, no more anything. I dont get it....how can it go from a few days, anytime to up to 30 more days????? And now she says the NAME CHECKS are the LAST THING before they issue an approval.....Thats not how it sounded the other day...Im sooo confused.

That doesn't make sense? Wouldn't the thing that takes a few days, be the FIRST thing you did? I know I'd pull everyone in the boxes and then work my way thru them. Of course reason is usually not the first thing they employ. (considers snarky remark, thinks i maybe shouldn't.)

Also, one of my neighbors works for USCIS (tho in the business of tossing out the people that dont' belong, not welcoming them in) .. my mother asked her to peek at my file. There wasnt' anythign she could DO, but she said that our name checks came back clear, and the landing cards had a few typos in them, but otherwise things were fine... and that was in SEPTEMBER. .. I'm not sure WHAT to maek of that, takign into account what Officer Nancy told you?

... this whole process is baffling. .. maybe they're baffled in VT too? huh.gif

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but my NOA1 is exactly one week after yours! I hope we all have our NOA2s before Christmas!

Steph - I feel really bad you want to stay away, but I know it must be so tought to see all the approvals and touches for people who filed after you. I'm still cheering for you to get your NOA2 this week!

Ugh, who am I kidding. I am addicted to all of you and this site. I am just so blue. All your kind words do help though. You are all the best!!!!

Yay!!! We're keeping Steph!!! dancin5hr.gif dancin5hr.gif

You know, if you don't hear something soon, you can get your congressperson involved. Its according to your priority date on the NOA1, not the date it was processed (which for you I believe the NOA1 is dated 6/20 but surely if you mailed it 6/4 they received it much sooner). Drfinitely something to think about if you don't get that approval by the end of next week!

I mailed it 6/4, but got an RFE cause my fiance wrote the check incorrectly, so the NOA1 was dated June 20. I called my senator and I am waiting on a call back.

Thanks!

Yeap...I remember my father telling me...that in "his day" you didn't DARE not work hard. Jobs were to hard to come by. Now they are as disposable as diapers.

I'm sure that whomever decided to 'lose' these petitions will get a stern talking to, regardless. It's a lot of trouble for their bosses. I see it all the time, when the ####### hits the fan, it always falls on the little people. I'm sure that the supervisors at VSC don't like congressional advocates and higher ups giving them a hard time.

That being said, I think its grossly mismanaged anyway, but its maybe a small consolation for our angry sides to know that whoever lost Lora's petition (and more!) probably got a good kick in the pants, figurately speaking. devil.gif

blink.gif

And so those of us who do vent...what is wrong with that??????

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times: There is nothing wrong with venting. That is what these boards are for. People need to release their frustrations about this process and if it means one more post about how this is all f'ed up then so be it. Not everyone deals with this process in the same way and not everyone believes that God is in control. Everyone deals with this in different ways and no way is better than another. What is wrong with people sharing their feelings here? If it helps someone deal with all this then so be it.

Well maybe when people our in our position of waiting now 176 days and not touch or answers and missing there loved ones they will understand....That is why I come here....not just for informational shareing and sharing in congrats but to get help with this roller coaster called Visa Journey......from hell.....sorry....I am trying

It's okay, Lora. I think our petitions are on the same desk! Same slow worker.

I think the feeling of helplessness and panic is directly related to the general proximity to 180 days. I was fine until I got to about 160 days, and started seeing mid-July getting approved. That's when the worry starts to hit that something's gone wrong.

We'll get there!

I know exactly how you feel. i get a little more edgy every day I get closer to 180 days. Pete's asked me to call and make sure they haven't simply lost our paperwork. I haven't called them at all thus far, simply because I know it won't do me any good, but... I think I'll call Monday.

You really shouldn't have to file formal request for service. I paid for it within six months- it should happen! ... it might be rude of me to say so, but I don't really care for their excuses (reasons whatever tongue.gif ). unsure.gif

How did you send it? Can't you track it or obtain proof of delivery?

Bill, that is what I asked Pat, he send it overnight, he got a receipt but he was in a big rush at work, skipped work to go the post office, ran back to work again and he doesn't remember where he put it! But he says that it has to be there!!! He is positive he wrote the right address and they must have it since VT is 3 hours from NY!!!

It's possible that if he paid with a debit/credit card the post office might be able to provide the reciept number.

So who all is going to be sending some kisses to VSC?!?!??!?!?!?!

I think I will. I was looking at Kiss Tower and trying to figure out how I could write "I've missed this many kisses in 145 days waiting for you guys!!" in 30 characters or less but .. I htink the last bit might have to go, on the personizable kiss flag. But .. i think its worth doing. If nothing else the sugar high might make them work faster. :energetic:

I own my car so not sure how that would work... I'm sure I'll find things smile.gif Although I might be panicking here nearer the time!!!

Jera-

We packed piles of proof that he was going home and then the officer swiped Pete's passport and took his left finger print and waved him on. Not even a 'how long are you staying for' question.

So, bring everything, but hopefully you'll get a grumpy lazy officer too!

You'll be fine in February I'm sure!

ric, if your fiance has not had a pattern of frequent, and particularly lengthy visits, combined with the proof of ties to the UK, he should be just fine at the POE. Good luck!

I don't know about lengthy, he usually visits for 10 or 15 days at a time, but three or four visits per year for the last three years...

I'm sure it'll be fine, even if they do question him a bit.

I suppose this is stating the obvious, but make your fiance has a return ticket, or a printout of the itinerary showing the return date.

Also, in the case of the bank statements, not having tons of money is good, but I think he should at least show that he has enough to support himself for the holiday...

I visited shortly after my NOA1 and got through no problem. Good luck!

Well yeah, btu there's a difference between having 1200 quid and 5000 quid. biggrin.gif

But thanks for the tips. I'm pretty sure he'd remember to bring the return itinerary, but it never hurts to remind. (or point him to this thread biggrin.gif)

if you have anything pertaining to his living arrangements - ie rental agreement or mortgage statement - that goes down well I hear smile.gif

someone else said they were booking their flight to Canada and then trying a land entry to the US... that way if they got denied they'd still be in North America and maybe the USC could see them... don't know if the cons outweigh the pros with something like that, but it's maybe worth considering smile.gif

all the VERY best with it... of course you want to see each other if you can; hopefully the US border guards will understand that wink.gif

He pays rent to his step parent to rent a loft, so there's no written lease unfortunately. sad.gif But hopefully the work committments will be enough.

Yes you can.

Sorry to hear you guys have been waiting for so long rose.gif I can´t think of anything else that you could bring. Hope you won´t have any problems at the POE and good luck to you good.gif Have a wonderful Xmas biggrin.gif

Just always be prepared that they can deny the entry...hopefully that´s not what they will do though good.gif

Thanks. I'm kinda hoping they understand that its Christmas, of course you wanna be together, and not find it terribly suspicious. We'll see though. He wanted to try, and I know an immigration officer and she said that really it shouldn't be a problem as long as he doesn't arrive with with a huge pile of belongings, and large sums of money.

Anyway. Good luck at your interview!!! good.gif

So, my fiance decided there was no way he wasn't going to come for Christmas. He gets ridiculously more time off than I do. I might have been able to pull it off, except after my last visit I got very very ill (no doubt a bug I caught on the plane!) and was out of work for four and a half days. We know there's a chance we might get denied entry at the airport but in an attempt to negate this we have put together the following:

- bank statement (relatively poor.. prove he's not intending to stay ie: can't afford it!)
- letter from his employer stating what day he is due back at work
- all of our paperwork

do you guys think that's enough? If not, what else would you suggest bringing?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGetting turned away at Point Of Entry is this likely?
MY fiance just came over this last sunday, and arrived at Immigration and the exchange went as follows:

Officer: Passport and Landing Card.
Pete: *hands over*
Officer: *swipes* Huh. Left finger, please.
Pete: *submits to fingerprint scan*
Officer: *hands back passport with a scowl and waves him in*

Not even, how long are you planning on staying, anything!

So, bring whatever proof you can, but I think you'll be fine. It probably helps if you've been going back and forth frequently and always go home on time (before 90 days) but it cant' hurt to enter via Ireland!

You know Ric I have yet to see one thing about this whole process that does not suck.......They are truly sucking the very life out of us...........I am so F@#^%$& mad at VSC, my lawyer.....I can not even get the lawyer on the phone to fire him.......I just sent my RFE information to VSC overnight because it has been sitting with the lawyer for 2 weeks unmailed.....AUGH..........I hate everything about this mad.gif

I can only imagine how you feel. If I get an RFE on top of this my brain is simply going to explode. Or I'll just fall apart or .. something. I don't know. I had a mini-cry earlier and my mother told me that's why he should have just come over and we got married, simple as that and I just stared at her. As if people would volentarily subject themselves to the USCIS if they could just jump up an get married.

Don't you just love it........I know no one can understand what a nightmare this whole process is....I had one of the Congressional aids tell me this is my burden because I choose to marry a man from Peru......I did not go out and purposefully choose to do this to both Oscar and I.......I am frankly worn out.......I thought for sure this would be over soon......AUGH dead.gif dead.gif

They seriously SAID that to you?!

Who was it? *marks down on list of people to never vote for*
