K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat should i do when i meet your american fiance for the first time?
Enjoy your time and really get to know about each other. Make sure you take plenty of pictures together and save your receipts. Be yourself and wishing you the best of luck. I remember my first meeting and I was so very nervous but so excited at the same time. Everything will be great! Good luck and Congrats !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIdeas? Need to show Fiancee was in USA

Her former tourist visa was in former passport, the former visa had been canceled at JFK because of questions. I do have other materials to show her presence in USA,

Does this mean that she was turned away at JFK? "canceled at JFK because of questions" What questions?

If she has visited you twice you can use things like her actual boarding pass, receipts, pictures of you two together, affidavits from persons who witnessed you together in the US, documents of any places you went together, etc. Do you live in New York or did you travel together to another location? If yes, then showing you were on the same flight is another way.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarried 4x

True Love at Last, thanks for offering help. I really appreciate it.. My friend now lives in Texas but his 1st marriage and divorce took place in Louisiana. If the documents were destroyed during Katrina how can any clerk help?

It would depend on the Parish the divorce was in. St.Bernard and some of Orleans Parish had some problems but most documents were already placed into computer files. He should contact the exact clerk of court and request a copy. Unless I know the exact court, I can't give specifics.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarried 4x
I live in Louisiana and I work for an Attorney. That is the first I have heard of Documents being destroyed in Katrina. They can contact the court in which the divorce took place and any CLERK can help them out. No need to pay an attorney for what you can get yourself. Feel free to PM me and maybe I can help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWell this is my second time around for K1

Make sure you are legally able to marry when you file your petition. Some states have laws that require people to wait a certain amount of time after a divorce before getting married again.

Well oddly enough I was separated for over 5 years before I divorced my first husband and I filed barley a month after the final decree.

My second husband and I have been separated for quite some time and Im only waiting on the final decree. I don't see any problem with the timing, I didn't plan on falling in love again but I am so very blessed to have found a wonderful man.

Thanks for the advice, I've been on VJ since 2005 so I know some have been in my situation and had no problems. I have followed everything "legal" after all I am a Legal Assistant ;-) Just wanted to refresh myself with the process and see if anyone had any new advice for this situation.

Thank you for all the replies. I'm wishing you all the best and hoping that this is my last trip down the isle, God Willing.

Yes of course, just waiting for my final decree.

So Happy You Have Found Your Heart..I hope this process goes well for you.:-)

Thank you very much. The first time around required patience and thanks God I have plenty of that!

I have no advice, but I wish you well on ur journey!!! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWell this is my second time around for K1
We hello to all and Salamu alaikum (L) ....I have been on VJ since 2005...To properly introduce myself I thought I might give a short background in hopes for good advice in the future. I am a USC and I was married to another USC when I was 16 back in 1996. We were married for 5 years and divorced after being separated for another 5 years(in 2005). We have a 15 year old son together.

I found a man online by chance via yahoo messenger (Islamic Chat Room)in December 2004, we fell in love and we applied for a K1 - Egypt - June 2005. He was approved, moved to the US in December 2005 and we were married for 6 years. We are almost finished with our divorce process and he has already become a USC. We have a lovely daughter together and there are no hard feelings.

While not looking for love I found my true soulmate in an Yahoo Islamic chat room back in November of 2011. We have been inseparable ever since that first talk. I have visited him over 3 times in Egypt over the last six months and we are officially engaged. My plan is to apply for the K1 visa again and pray for a speedy process. I am not uneducated so I know exactly what I am putting myself through again, but I simply cannot live my life without this wonderful man. We are only 1 year in age difference and he has never been married before. As stated above I have been married twice for lengthy periods of time and with legitimate reasons for the marriages to have ended. I have read about others in my similar situation and am asking advice and tips that may help us when we are able to finally file our K1. I have two children and my family is looking forward to having my Fiance here with us to complete our lives together. I have a great job so support will not be an issue.

I know there are mixed opinions about multi K1 visas but honestly I did not truly plan on putting myself through this process again but when you stumble across a man who fits every dream that you have ever prayed for its hard not to give it everything you have. My heart aches without him and my children have grown to know him and love him dearly. He is kind, respectable and has treated me and shown me what real love feels like. We are of the same religion and share many of the same goals. Anyway my question is actually for advice on those who have been in this similar situation and if you have any special advice for us to help us avoid any mistakes.

We have many boarding passes, passport stamps, receipts of spending time together, photographs with family and friends in Egypt. Screen shots of us online with my children and family, text messages everyday, emails back and fourth, cards and love letters from both, and more. We are hoping to send off the K1 in early July as we are gathering all required documents. We know that we are looking at at least a 8 month wait.

I look forward to hearing from you all and I appreciate your advice in advance. Thank you for your time.

Salam, Thank you....Egyptian True Love At Last :-) :luv:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuick question about addresses
I didn't include any "posted" materials with the "proof of ongoing relationship". Photos, plane ticket stubs and edited emails along with the phone bills seemed to be enough.
Your parents address is your "permanent mailing address" and the college address is only temporary, so I can't see how it would be an issue.
Good Luck!

wanting some very basic advice, starting out on the immigration trail. I am infact the one coming to america (hoping) . My fiancee is american and i am english. We have met and have continued to communicate via phone, mail, email (everyday). We wish to marry and for me to relocate to USA. We have spoke about this at length and are both commited. Could someone please give me a list of hot to go, as comprehensive as possible and tips. Many thanks

Welcome!
I would suggest you search the threads, there are some very good and highly informative "pinned" items that can help guide you through the process. Personally, I found this site out of frustration over the waiting game! Just make sure you document your relationship, photos, phone bills, airline ticket stubs, hotel reservations, etc. This is very important!
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis will answer a lot of your questions as well.
Good Luck on your Visa Journey! good.gif

Hi VJ users smile.gif

We sent the the I-129F a few months back now. However my question is regarding the I-134 form, or more specifically the supporting docs. We sent one copy of each of the documents provided by the Co sponsor. And after re-reading the I-134 information page, we realized it says send "duplicates" of the supporting documents. Does that mean we should have sent two copies of each of the supporting documents provided by the Co sponsor? e.g tow copies of the letter from the bank and 2 from the place of work etc. Or does it just mean send photocopies of the documents as apposed to the originals?

Will this be an issue? If so what would you suggest we do?

Any help would be great.

Many, many thanks in advance.

Neil.

Duplicates as in copies of the originals.
The Affidavit of Support goes with the beneficiary on the interview.

Good Luck!

The i-134 instructions give you the info needed from your bank. Most banks can turn these around quickly.

Yes, thank you. Sometimes the obvious is forgotten when thinking about the more complicated things headbonk.gif ...of course...the I-134 has instructions with it. yes.gif

I had a lawyer put mine together - and maybe it depends on your income, but I didn't get a letter from my bank. I did include a statement from each bank, letter from employer, current paystub with YTD info on it and 3 years of tax returns/w-2. She said all was fine!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis is what im talkin about...
I look at it like filling out your tax forms. You must read the instructions or you may miss an important deduction and wind up owing the IRS.
If you can fill in your tax forms, you can fill out this application. With the VJ'ers you have a free on-call help whenever you need.
If you take your taxes to the local CPA on the other hand, then you may benefit from legal services. BUT you must be careful, there are many rip-off artists out there preying on confused new lovebirds.
Take a deep breath, this is something you can accomplish however best suits your needs, either by doing it yourself or getting help - it is your future!
Ah, the joys of falling in love with a non-USC! jest.gif

He'll have to leave his passport for the K1 to be put in, he's not likely to have it back in 3 days and then he'll be entering for his Xmas holiday (assuming he delays the flight) on his K1. It's nigh on impossible to use a WVP, since the whole idea of a WVP is that it waives the need for a visa, which he technically has.

Even if you do a JP quickie, he then would need to file for immediate AOS and emergency AP which isn't going to be granted over the Xmas holidays, if at all, for a non-urgent travel.

Call the embassy, explain the situation, you can't be the first.

Forgot about that, sorry envy was clouding my judgement devil.gif !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslawyer or not?
We did hire a lawyer, as we had a possible overstay (6 weeks) issue and thought it best to have back-up. I did give her completely filled out forms and documents and she basically put her seal and signature on it. But, she has been giving me moral support through email and phone calls as well. So I think in the long run I am happy with her services on the K-1, just a few minor meltdowns on my part.
Will we retain her for the AOS - prob not. There is enough information and support on Visa Journey for us to complete the process!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMilitary Allowances on I-134
QUOTE (Laura+Tom @ Dec 7 2008, 07:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance was just going through the I-134 and had a couple of questions.

1. Being in the military, the bulk of his pay is made up of allowances. Does he put his basic pay + allowances in the income part or just his basic pay and then list the allowances on a supplement sheet? His basic pay will still be over the poverty line if he just lists that.

2. He has other personal property, various classic cars and motorcycles, which together are worth a substantial amount of money however he's never had them appraised. Is it worth putting this amount down? Is the embassy likely to ask for proof if he does?

Thanks in advance.

The attorney said my wages were enough. My bank shows the alimony deposits that are not included (as they will be terminated once I am remarried), but she told me not to even bother listing them separately. I was told as long as I make over 26,000- it is fine, as it is only me and no other dependants. So no issues there!
Agree with listing allowances on his pay on separate sheet if he has no statemented assests (home, IRA's, etc).
He can put his cars/motorcycles in the property section, just copy the titles showing no liens to go with the affidavit. There is a value on the title at the time it was issued in his name.

I having been planning - not booking anything until after the interview!
You can plan certain things around the actual ceremony - figure out clothing, food, music and other things. It is never to early to research and price things out.
Most venues can give you an idea of their busy seasons and what can be done on short notice.
Have fun with it and good luck!
