K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few questions :)

Make sure the boarding passes have the full dates on them including the year. Some don't display the year and hence are pretty worthless. That happened to us and we got an RFE. Copies of passport stamps are better.

Hmm, i have lots of stuff. i tend to keep EVERYTHING. (ie our first movie tickets together, all of our passes for museums and tours we went on, every train ticket i had, plane tickets, etc.) Would it be bad to just include everything to be safe? I don't want them to be like "Pff, you guys are annoying sending too much stuff! DENY!" lol

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few questions :)

Everything else sounds fine, but you need primary, third-party evidence of how you met, and proof of having met in person in the last two years. People usually use boarding passes, receipts from foreign country, or passport stamp, but a letter about how it happened is not enough. 10 months until wedding should be okay, but you never know, so make sure the plans are semi-flexible. Good luck.

ah yeah, i know :)

I have my boarding passes as well as his copied. I just noticed that on the visa tip/guide thingy they also ask for the letter. I didn't want mine to sound retarded :D

Thanks! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few questions :)
I've been reading through the tips and forums for a while now. My boyfriend (fiance! got to get used to saying that :) ) and I are ready to submit our I-129F package but I have a few questions..

1.
As far as financial support goes, I'm a student (AKA i'm poor, LOL) so my father agreed to fill out whatever is necessary (I-134?). I should be finished school in December and have a new job by the time he gets here but for now is it alright for just my dad to fill out a form?

2.
My boyfriend has a few financial issues in the NL, a few outstanding loans/bills/whatever. Too much to pay off within a year or so- Is that going to hold him back at all? We could always make payments from the US.

3.
We have actually set a rough estimate for a wedding date, as my parents requested (May of 2012).. do any of you guys think 10 months is enough time? I've seen some on here that have been waiting 11 months and others that get approved extremely quick! I know we should wait until we have visa in hand and he crosses the Atlantic to be with me.. but I also need to please the parents. :P

4.
Document of how we met- no real idea how this is supposed to sound. What I have written is basically a first-person docu about when we started chatting and how it evolved over the years. I wrote it (the USC) and didn't get him to sign it.. is this alright?

Darn, I had more questions but now I actually go to post and I forget as usual  It might sound like either A. i'm paranoid or B. i'm OCD ... but I'd really just like to get this right the FIRST time :) (ok, i might be both haha)

Anyways, any help is appreciated! Thanks guys :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134... what if?
Bumping this up, anyone ever use TurboTax and had to get their tax info from them? I have all of my W2's for the past 3 years, but no tax info as I've used turbotax and everything was just done online. I didn't save anything because I didn't know I'd ever need it (bad girl, I know lol) I looked on the site, couldn't find a way to get previous return info, only to do my taxes for THIS year :hehe:

Also, found out my mom makes $400 more than the 125%. I assume that'll be alright?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134... what if?
No, she doesn't claim my brother as a dependent. I was the only one she has claimed. Also, I assume that my new job will provide the 125% easy for him & I. I had hoped to finish getting the documents now and send them to him but I suppose I will have to wait for her to file her 2011 taxes to reduce the 'household size' to 3.

Thanks for all the answers guys!

Oh and yes, I had asked my employer and my HR guy gave me some bullshit line of - 'its against the law for me to disclose to anyone, even in a letter for you, of how much you make.' he could be referring to company rules when he says law, i don't know. i will try to get the electronic copies of my paystubs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134... what if?
Ok, so filling out the I-134 hasn't been an easy task for me thus far. I've got a few questions for VJ and I may end up writing the consulate to see what they think.

First off, I only make around $12k a year, part time job while I was in school. I have a few job offers that I am looking into this week which will definitely make more than what I am currently making. But I know I need a cosponsor, so I decided to ask my mom to help. I'm getting a letter from her employer and will work on getting her check stubs. Does anyone think I should wait until she files the 2011 taxes or should i just proceed with 2008, 2009, 2010?

Mom barely makes enough to cover for 3 people (on the 125% chart) My dad (separated from mom) lives in a different portion of the house (only sometimes though) with my brother and helps us out with anything we might need. Mom claims me on her taxes, but didn't plan on claiming me on her 2011 taxes. Now, I thought I understood everything- mom would have to make enough for me, Marco and herself. But some posts on VJ state that she'd have to make enough to support 5 people because that's sort of what the household size is (even though it's in a different portion of the house?) How the hell is someone normal supposed to make enough to support 5 people alone?! lol ... don't people realize that we all work together? just like I contribute to the household? Pfft. :bonk:

Anyways, my questions were this:
1. Should I wait for our 2011 taxes to be filed? (I'd prefer to just get it over with using the other ones so we could move this along faster)
2. How many people does my mom have to make enough money for?
3. What do I do if my company refuses to write a letter stating how much I make? Also, I do not receive check stubs. It is direct deposit, all electronic. Does this mean I need to use bank statements?

Thanks guys. I've been searching through VJ but I see a lot of contradicting answers on these kind of topics so I figured maybe we could all try this again

We also had this issue... Marco ended up just trying back again the next day and it worked for us. No idea why.. lol.

Good luck though! If you really can't get it to work, the embassy will send you the forms too. At least ours offered to when we were having issues

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccines for medical exam
Marco had NO shot records whatsoever when he went to his medical exam and they only required him to get two shots: the dktp and the MMR (in dutch it's BMR i believe) I think he paid like 70 euro combined. He is also older though, born in '72- not sure if that matters at all or not lol.

The exam in Amsterdam was a BREEZE! he walked in, had some fun with the staff, got his shots and blood taken, was shuffled to the next building for the x-ray and was done within 90 minutes total. X-Ray was done in less than 10 minutes

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo not plan wedding?
Most people will tell you on here "OMG DO NOT SET YOUR WEDDING DATE YET!!" and hey, i do understand why they say it... but i personally set my wedding date when i found out we were engaged... like most 'ordinary' couples do. We got engaged in mid-July, set our date almost instantly for May 19th, made sure we had an opt-out/change date clause with ALL of our people (venue, food, photographer, DJ, etc.) and applied for K-1 in the beginning of August. We had one bump along the way but we still managed to get him here over a month before the wedding.

What they told you is just basically standard- if you want to set your wedding date right now, go ahead. just be prepared for a plan B if something were to happen :)

Oh and the interviewer did ask and my husband said "Yes, our date is May 19th" and had no issues
