For the DS3032, choice of agent form -- email it from your email ID. Follow the VJ template and you'll be fine!

You mail NOTHING to the Mumbai consulate. Only to the National Visa Center in New Hampshire.

Read up on the I-130/CR-1 guides!

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:
Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:
1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum before sending in your packages.

5) Mail your DS230 package to your USC spouse as soon as you get your NOA2. That way he/she can overnight it to NVC as soon as the IV bill clears.

6) Get your taxes, employment letter, paystubs, PCCs, civil documents etc. while you wait for the NOA2.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:
3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.
3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.
1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.
1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.
1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.
8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Why would he send you the I-864 package? He'd send it directly to NVC. Much easier. Make sure he makes a copy of the entire set so you can have it at the time of your interview.

Get cracking on your DS230 package. Courier it to him as soon as you get your NOA2. That way he can send it in as soon as your IV bill clears.

Read the NVC guides. And LingChe shortcuts. Tremendously helpful.

Regarding the AOS package:
First thing, I would recommend is that you print out the I-864 form and read the instructions about 2 times. Mark out the relevant portions and ask any questions you might have after that. I would suggest you read the guides for a comprehensive idea about how the AOS packet will comprise.

Recommended AOS package:

I-864 Coversheet (with barcode) for payment of $70
Form I-864 (signed and dated)
2009 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.
2008 Federal Tax Return and W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.
2007 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS Tax Transcript
Letter of Employment
Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months
Bank Statements.

Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint sponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.
For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

India is not eligible for EP.

You will need to mail hard copies with supporting documentation in during the NVC stage.

Get a headstart by reading the guides and having those documents ready.

The originals will be returned to you at the time of the interview.

Nothing you can do but send them into NVC if you want your case to be completed.

A lot of people have tried to get away with photocopies or notarized copies but they've all been RFE-d for those documents.

Only ORIGINAL/CERTIFIED COPY is acceptable to NVC.

The ORIGINAL PCCs will be sent with the IV packet which will carry the DS230 form. The NVC stage starts once you have the NOA2.

It is recommended that a photocopy of the PCCs are carried to the interview.

A guide to the DS230 packet for Indian beneficiaries:
--Cover sheet for Immigrant Visa Bill of $400.
--Two (2) Passport Size Photographs of Beneficiary (Beneficiary's full name, and date of birth are written on back of both).
--DS-230 Part 1 completed and signed by beneficiary.
--DS-230 Part 2 completed by beneficiary, unsigned, as of yet, per instructions.
--Original Marriage certificate
--Photocopy of Marriage Certificate
--Original Birth Certificate
--Photocopy of Birth Certificate
--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Local Police Station, Calcutta
--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Regional Passport Office, Calcutta
--Photocopy of beneficiary's Indian passport.

Get on those PCCs ASAP. They are valid for 1 year for embassy purposes.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Clearance Certificate India (Bangalore) - HELP!
You will need two PCCs for India before your case can be completed at NVC.

Smart thing to do is to get them while you wait for your NOA2.

The Police Clearance Certificate will come from the local police station of your current residence. This basically looks like a letter. Has your picture on it (or at least mine did), some stamps and a signature. For this, a copy of the passport was sufficient.

The Passport Clearance Certificate will be issued by your passport issuing Regional Passport Office. This one came with a stamp in the passport and a note saying the applicant was cleared for U.S. immigration purposes. Obviously, for this I had to submit my original passport.

My Police CC took 3 weeks and Passport CC took 1 week. This was in Calcutta.

Hope this helps.

The PCCs will have to be sent to NVC with your DS230/IV packet.

No problem. Your IV bill will clear soon as well.

If your AOS bill is showing as PAID, then goodness, just print the darned cover sheet out, assemble your package and overnight it to NVC.

You don't have to wait for anything from NVC.

Once your payment clears you will have access to a BARCODED COVER SHEET. Print that out and place it on TOP of your package and then overnight it to NVC.

I'd suggest sending in the 2009 taxes as well. It's close to April 15, and they're gonna wanna look at it soon enough. File NOW if you haven't already.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSign-In Failed!
Here's the part we've all been waiting for. Your sign in fails! What happens AFTER you get a SIGN IN FAILED?

Check the AVR/confirm with an operator that your case has indeed completed processing at NVC.
CR-1 interviews are scheduled by NVC. The interview letter will be e-mailed to both the beneficiary and the petitioner.
You can track the DHL packages sent out from Portsmouth, NH to your consulate.
Keep bugging NVC till they assign your date. Not too much, though.
You can check the US Consulate's website for updates on interviews. Most consulate's have an interview schedule updated bi-weekly.
You can also call your consulate for regular updates on how busy the consulate is that month.
Get your medical out of the way. The medical is country specific, so check out your regional forums.
Usually, you need 2-3 photographs, passport, interview letter, and your medical records but I'm sure requirements differ.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRFE
That's bizarre. I've never seen a RFE for communication correspondence for CR-1s. I agree with Pushbrk--so many people got away with the marriage certificate and maybe a couple of pictures. Two affidavits and a joint bank account information should be enough for someone from Canada, if your nickname is anything to go by.

Hmm. Anyway, add a good 10-15 pictures. Write who is in the picture, date, where was it taken and preferably who took it.

As for communication evidence, a few emails, some chat logs, a phone bill or two should suffice.
