Africa: Sub-SaharanIt's SAD
It is sad. Most people don't consider the hard realities of moving and living in an alien culture/place. And actions always counter more than words. He has what he wanted -- living anywhere as long as you were there -- but funnily enough, turns out that's not what he wanted. Love is not always enough.

I do hope you're able to work something out. My best wishes.

Right--I only plan to provide emails and chats that are U-rated. This way I'm not blacking or editing anything out!

I don't think they're talking about having access to the originals.

In the OPs case, unless I'm mistaken, they printed out the emails and then blacked out the sensitive stuff out with a Sharpie. Which might pique the CO's interest.

Africa: Sub-SaharanLAGOS - VISA DENIED UNTIL.....(RFE)
I haven't blocked out anything on our emails. The emails that contain intimate/private matters, I just choose to keep private. So I won't be submitting them. We have about 20/30 usual husband-wife-how-was-your-day-I-love-you-and-miss-you kind of emails and I will just use those. There's nothing that states that you need to submit 1000 emails or every single email that was passed between the both of you.

Similarly, for chats, I'm printing out several chat logs on different days from different months showing our continued communication. But I'm not planning on printing out two year's worth of chat logs. That's just a waste of paper.

Africa: Sub-SaharanFriend has messed up. What to do
No need to educate me on this or anything else for that matter.

Lagos is THE highest fraud consulate. Even Nigerians going through this are well aware of it and are adequately prepared. If they aren't, then they're in for a huge shock.

Like I said, OLDEST trick in the book a.k.a classic, text-book fraud case. Marry a USC woman, gain citizenship and then petition for your old wife/fiance/girlfriend from the same village you grew up in with whom you conveniently had a kid with prior to your first marriage. You're deluding yourself if you think a CO is likely to approve such a visa.

Things that would be deemed okay in other parts of the world or might just work, do not and will NOT fly in Lagos, thanks to the large number of fraud cases coming out of that consulate.

Stick around here and read some. You'll soon see what I'm talking about.

Africa: Sub-SaharanFriend has messed up. What to do
Someone from Nigeria married a USC, became a USC, got divorced and is now petitioning for a fiancee from the same village in Nigeria that he grew up in?

OLDEST trick in the book. Sorry, I don't see that flying. Not in Lagos.

The child will be a K-2 derivative. He/she is not entitled to USC if the father became a USC after their birth. This is my understanding--someone will correct me if this is wrong.

Africa: Sub-SaharanInterview Scheduled in Ghana...BUT!!!!!!!
Ghana, from all accouts, is severely backlogged so while I understand it is a long way off, you're still amongst the lucky one who has an interview date. It is kind of preposterous though. I'd be pretty pissed about it.

October 14 is an expedited interview date? REALLY?

No my friend... It was far from clear that you were the beneficiary in your post...Thanks for your input all the same :)

Ah, I thought mentioning the fact that I saw passports being hurled across the room during my F-1 (student) visa was a dead giveaway... Anyway, good luck on your visa journey! Have a nice day. :star:

Africa: Sub-SaharanWas race of the petioner brought up in the interview

Did your beneficiary leave you my friend? Considering the fact that your interview was such a cake walk...

I thought I made it quite clear in my post that I was the beneficiary. And I thought I could chime in with my input since the topic at hand reads "Was the race of the petitioner brought up in the interview?" given that I am half a part of an inter-racial couple that interviewed at a US Consulate-General.
sachinkyFemaleIndia2011-10-29 12:34:00
Africa: Sub-SaharanWas race of the petioner brought up in the interview
Damn, I love the righteous anger in this thread.

It still cracks me up that people think age differences, racial differences, economic disparities, religious differences, etc. do not matter in the visa process. Because love conquers all, right? Or for that matter, thinking that calling the President is going to make any damn difference. I love it almost as much as I love online petitions.

It's all "the US government is trying to impede on my pursuit of happiness!" when the going is tough and then, funnily enough, when the beneficiary high-tails it within the first couple of months in the US, we are subjected to the plethora of threads ranging from the ever-popular "How do I send him/her back?" like a defective appliance or "the ICE woman laughed in my face. I am a US citizen. Why won't the government protect my rights?" *whiny voice*

Now I am not condoning rude/unprofessional behavior exhibited by embassy officials -- and I have seen passports being thrown across the room during my F-1 interview in Calcutta -- but I'm going to have to go with Zee Bee on this. High fraud is high fraud for a reason.

Regarding the topic at hand: no, the race of the petitioner was not a factor during my three-minute CR-1 interview.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS3230 ACCEPTED, whats next?
hey MMW. So there is no need for me to wait for those forms from the NVC? I can just download them, fill them out and send it over to my husband in the US? He'll hold on to them till the choice of agent email is accepted. And he can print off the bar coded cover sheet, write our case # on top of every sheet and we'd be good to go? The form itself doesn't need barcodes?

Sorry to sound like a dense 6 year old -- I just want to make sure I got everything correct.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)another I-864 RFE Question for co-sponsor joint tax
What amount are you using?

Just use your FIL's individual income as stated on his W2 for line 23 and 24. And none for the next section. Read the "how to calculate annual household income" in the instruction sheet. Check out the sample form on VJ if that helps. But do include the joint tax return. AND the W2s. Did you send the W2s -- I'm guessing no from your OP? Maybe add a note saying that since he qualifies on his own there's no need to add any other household income.

They might just require I-864A to make sure your MIL is aware of the commitment made. If her income is included, then she needs to fill an I-864A, not I-864.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)another I-864 RFE Question for co-sponsor joint tax
Does your father-in-law qualify as a sponsor on his own? The trick then is to use only his income as stated in his individual W2 on the I864. The joint tax return must be added as well.

If he doesn't, then your mom-in-law's income has to be included as well.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I864 required documents
Recommended AOS package:

I-864 Coversheet (with barcode) for payment of $70
Form I-864 (signed and dated)
2008 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.
2007 Federal Tax Return and W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.
2006 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS Tax Transcript
Letter of Employment
Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months
Bank Statements.

Some people are choosing to send in 2009 W2s.
Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint sponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.
For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)paid70$and emailed ds-3032
Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:
Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:
1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:
3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.
3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.
1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.
1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.
1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.
8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.
