They kept her passport. That's a good thing.

AP from the Philippines is quite rare so I don't know the timeframes, I hope your AP is short.

Keep in touch with the USEM.

Good luck, Brian!

PhilippinesInterview Passed.. but lost medical?
Congrats on the interview.

Sorry about the lost medical. Hopefully, they can locate it soon and this won't cause you a huge delay.

Good luck!

If I were you, I'd keep calling the Embassy till they are able to locate your medical.

PhilippinesThinking about bribing St. Lukes
Frankly, what you think or what your high-ranking radiologist buddies think is irrelevant. None of you are privy to the medical tests/results.

Firstly, try to get a confirmation whether she has TB or not. Get a second opinion.

If it's positive, well, then, you'll have to wait out the time for treatment.

If not, you can try talking to St. Luke's and showing them the negative test results which might prompt them to do their own second testing. The truth will come out eventually.

If you try to bribe your way out of this, there could be serious repercussions to it.

PhilippinesThinking about bribing St. Lukes
What you're planning to do is extremely dangerous, risky and unethical.

Trying to bribe the hospital/doctor who is in charge of your wife's medical is foolhardy to say the least.

I strongly urge you not to even consider it. Your wife's visa denial could be the LEAST of your problems.

What you should do is have your wife undergo a test done by another doctor somewhere else. See what those results say.
Then you can proceed.

Good luck!

PhilippinesMhay is at the Embassy
Thanks for the review! Seemed easy enough.

I remember my F-1 interview. The woman was very soft-spoken and the other IO was literally shouting the applicant standing right next to me. At point she took his passport and flung it across the room. It was very confusing and disorienting as I couldn't focus on the question being asked to me.

Kevin! Oh, noooo. :(

I'm so so sorry. I hope she feels better soon.

I agree with the above posters. There's no point getting her treated by her own doctor. Get her to St. Luke's now and let them run their tests. If she passes the sputum test, then great! If not, they will treat her for 6 months and then set another interview date. I know there was a similar case on this forum a few weeks ago. The wife was treated and cleared of TB and then issued the visa.

Hang in there, man, we're here for you. (F)

PhilippinesDeath in family needs to go back what to do??
You may apply for an AP only after your AOS has been filed and you've received the NOA1.

My condolences.

Philippineswhen does NVC schedule interview?
Generally interviews are scheduled during the second week of the month. While interviews are scheduled during the other weeks of the month as well--we received our appointment letter the last week of the month--those are usually for dates for the following month, not the next. For example, we received notice end of March for an interview in mid-May. Remember, some consulates do this. Not all.

PhilippinesWould my Dad or my sister be a better co-sponser?
If you want, have her fill up both.

She must have the I-134 filled out.
sachinkyFemaleIndia2010-05-17 05:18:00
PhilippinesWould my Dad or my sister be a better co-sponser?
I-134s are to be used for K-1s.

The Consulate follows the I-864 guidelines when adjudicating the I-134 but you/your sister doesn't need to fill out an I864.

Not yet. Not until it's time for AOS.
sachinkyFemaleIndia2010-05-17 01:38:00
PhilippinesWould my Dad or my sister be a better co-sponser?
Oops sorry. I didn't realize you were going for a K-1.

Disregard my earlier advice.

For K-1s, it is upto the consulate to accept joint sponsors.
sachinkyFemaleIndia2010-01-30 13:04:00
PhilippinesWould my Dad or my sister be a better co-sponser?
Whoever makes more money and has a smaller household size.

If it's your dad, then he will an I-864A.

If it's your sister, she will fill an I-864 since she lives in a separate household.

You, regardless of income, will file an I-864.

PhilippinesMy wife's pregnant....could we have the baby in Cebu?

The only real thing I know for sure is that the child could never run for President in the U.S. if not born in the U.S. or on a U.S. military base hospital.

Adam

That is not true. A child born to an USC parent, is deemed to be a natural-born citizen and is eligible to run for the POTUS, irrespective of his place of birth. This is because US grants natural born citizenship through jus sanguinis (by blood) and jus soli (by soil). As long as you meet either one of the condition, you are deemed to be a natural born citizen and can run for POTUS. Some fulfil both conditions, others just one. That is, you can be born in the U.S. to USC parents. You can be born in the U.S. to Indian parents on a vacation. You can be born to USC parents on a vacation in France. All three scenarios will result in a natural born USC. Only naturalized citizens are ineligible to run for POTUS.

As long as you file a CRBA and get the child a US passport after the birth, it will be fine.

PhilippinesAnyone here who didn't meet their Love online?
We met while we were in a college in New York together. His roommate was a friend of mine. I met Mr. Sachinky while hanging out with his roommate in their apartment one day. He was dating someone else then and I was generally being a prat my junior year. However, after he broke up with his "girlfriend", -- I say 'girlfriend' because she was a really hot Asian chick who couldn't string together two complete sentences in English and I had no idea what he was doing with her, actually I do know -- any way, he asked me out after we made out one night in a drunken stupor, post a frat-party. He confessed that he'd had a massive crush on me -- my aloofness had attracted him -- right from the start but thought I was off-limits because his roommate was interested in me (he wasn't, we were just good friends and hung out all the time).

It wasn't supposed to be more than a summer fling but two and a half years later, we're now married after he proposed the March before graduation.
