Oh I just re-read your post. The certificates are not actually covering Lima. They are the national level, covering the entire country. The offices are just located in Lima. Unfortunatly. He can go to the embassy and request a copy of the packet at window 14 between 9 and 10 am local time in Lima. It is very common that the packets don't make it through the mail. If it has been two weeks it is way too long. He will need the letter from the embassy to do a lot of the things he needs to do. And not to freak you out but there is not a lot of time to do all that needs to be done. It takes a while, and somethings take longer than others. The Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales (a nivel nacional) can take quite some time, especially if he has not been living in Lima. I just wanted to send an update and let you all know that Elias called DHL to see if they had received anything back from the embassy. DHL advised him that a package had arrived today. He went to pick it up and inside was the APPROVED VISA and the sealed packet he will carry to his POE. We will be buying the ticket today (probably for April 3 or 4) and finally we will be past this part of our journey. A million thanks to all who have encouraged us along the way. I called the consulate to check status and the nice lady told me to give her our email addresses and they would email rather than use postal service to send packet 3. You could call the embassy and ask them. Maybe thats your best bet. Sometimes embassies email the packet 3 info. Mine did. We got the interview date and only had 8 days to get packet 3 materials done. She has interview on Tuesday 25th of March. She spent the whole week scrambling for the Medical, Police Certificate and other documents. My support documents were done and sent by UPS Express and should be there by tomorrow. I hope. Cutting it close but don't want to re-schedule interview date. ha ha Thanks to all of you for your support. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	K-1 vs K-3, which is best	WOW the million dollar question. They both have their pros and cons however it seems from the historical data here and on other sites as well as the K1 visa is much faster to get. First of all it is a temporary visitor Visa specifically for the fiancee to marry and then apply for permanent residence status. Once you are married in the US then your fiancee may remain in the US through the rest of the permanent residence process. I chose the K1 Visa for this reason and it has proven true to be much faster than a K3. K3 visa is basically you being a US citizen applying for your family member to come to the US. There is a different allotment of numbers given for relatives than for temporary visitors. I am sure there are many that have applied for K3 visas and gotten them approved quickly but I have been watching the current trend on both types and I believe the K1 Visa is a much faster process. I have a friend who has a K3 visa in the works now for 8 months. Maybe its just his case but we applied at the same time. Good luck in your decision I hope this helps. They both have their pros and cons however it seems from the historical data here and on other sites as well as the K1 visa is much faster to get. First of all it is a temporary visitor Visa specifically for the fiancee to marry and then apply for permanent residence status. Once you are married in the US then your fiancee may remain in the US through the rest of the permanent residence process. I chose the K1 Visa for this reason and it has proven true to be much faster than a K3. K3 visa is basically you being a US citizen applying for your family member to come to the US. There is a different allotment of numbers given for relatives than for temporary visitors. I am sure there are many that have applied for K3 visas and gotten them approved quickly but I have been watching the current trend on both types and I believe the K1 Visa is a much faster process. I have a friend who has a K3 visa in the works now for 8 months. Maybe its just his case but we applied at the same time. Good luck in your decision I hope this helps.
