I checked the USCIS website to see if there was an update and there was... but just to say my name has been updated today. No idea what that means lol. Do we just light a candle in its honour and generally ignore it? My wife I-94 expiration date is January 2. Like you we will ignore it since I-485 has been filed. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	we sent ours off on Mon 17th Dec by overnight delivery, received 2 text messages Thursday night with receipt numbers, uploaded on to the system Friday morning. Hard copies came in the mail Mon 24th. I think at this time of year it's hard to say because mail is interrupted. Maybe we just got lucky - maybe Chicago just work faster than Vermont and ours slipped through. Awesome. I sent mine on December 19 and am still waiting for a text message or hard copy. We were a bit delayed with it because the incorrect spelling on Rob's social security card created some problems with the bank, so we couldn't get money transferred over for the AOS fees. But that's all straightened out, and everything is finally on it's way to USCIS. I kinda have some unrealistic hopes that it will get to the USCIS today, given that the post office is only a mile from the lockbox. Wishful (and silly) thinking ConGrats! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	Guys!! THIS IS MY LAST NIGHT IN CANADA!!! We're heading out tomorrow at around 4am. Tomorrow is POE, but I won't be reunited with Tom until Friday, because we're driving down. Any last minute advice for POE? I have all the paperwork ready to go (I think! - sealed envelope... Passport with visa inside... Itemized list of the boxes in the van...) Do you guys think I should bother getting a SSN in my maiden name? I arrive on the 21st, then there's two holidays in there, and we'll be married on the 1st of January. Should I just wait til I have the marriage certificate and apply with my married name? It is up to you on how to proceed with the SSN. I did not wait. I will have to go back to the SSN office and show them my marriage license and they will issue a new card with my wife's married name. So it takes an extra step if you apply for it in your maiden name. Since you will be married on the 1st of January, that will be just about the time you are adviced to go to the SSN office. So we have to go back to get it changed to her married name with our official marriage certificate which we now have. We also submitted the AOS package about an hour ago. Now the waiting begins. The officer in charge told us that she still has to use her maiden name. He said use the new name (my last name) for all green card application and go back here (to SS office) to change it and get a new card issued. Ok, that's fine. Now, how do I go about which names to use for my health insurance and other insurance, bank account? what name should I use for her? This is too confusing. please help. Proof of engagement is an updated letter stating that you will get married within 90 days of arrival. Still waiting for our official wedding certificate from Hawaii but just going to go ahead and send it all in with the temporary one and see what happens! I can handle an RFE now...at least we're together and married lo! It's amazing how our view of RFE changed when our loved one is with us. I know it can take a long time so am trying to be patient, but for most RFEs the approval comes fast. I'm really cranky today and have been stalking USCIS's website. I just want to scream at someone. Then maybe I won't feel so frustrated Did they acknowledge on the website that they received your RFE response? If they did and it was a simple RFE, you should get your approval anytime now. Yes it will tell you in detail what you need to send. When responding to a Request for Evidence it is extremely important that you place the blue coversheet on the top of the response you send to them. The VSC receives thousands of pieces of correspondence each day, if the blue coversheet is not on the top of the response it will be placed in “general” correspondence and NOT sorted as a priority, which may delay your case.
