K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about "proof oh having met within 2 years"
I am getting ready to send in my 129-F petition package in the next few days. Just trying to double check as many things as possible....My photos of us together were from my recent trip, and I uploaded onto CVS.com and picked up at the store. The dates on the back are the printing date, not the date photos were actually taken. Will this cause the photos to not be useful in my application?

Also, if including my boarding passes, and boarding passes of us flying together to her family's hometown, do I also need copies of my passport page with the date stamps? I am trying to keep it simple, and not overload the package with excess evidence. Is this adviseable? Thanks for any help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance's weird mailing address
When we visited my fiancee's family in their village, i talked to a few people about how a barangay with 700 houses can have no house numbers for mailing address??? Ultimately, I learned the name of the Barangay captain and someone explained that the mail man just leaves all the mail with this person. So on my cover letter I explain the lack of numbering and request that anything to be mailed to Jovy be sent to the c/o provided. All of her addresses for the G-325 (work and home) were similar format:

Barangay
City
Province

I stressed over this for more than a week before just deciding to put down what information i have and let 'er rip. The restaurant she used to waitress at a few years ago is out of business, and she doesnt remember the name of it (if it even had a name, lol). I had to put Restaurant (name unknown) - city, province, country, and hope i don't get a question about it (as there's no more info to be had).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresok...last question....i hope:)
I assume her signature related only to the G-325A and letter of intent? I just express mailed my 129F petition this morning, and had a sudden panic that I missed a spot for Jovy to sign the I-129F itself, but I am pretty sure there was no such signature line. By the way our G-325A forms were signed about 2 weeks apart as she also signed when we were recently together in the Phils. As a practical matter it made sense to get her info out of the way first before worrying about my own.

Best of luck with your process! I am now playing the hurry up and wait game, but glad to get my first deliverable out of the way this morning for the chance to start waiting.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help. First time will file for the K1-visa
I've read so much in the past few months that its difficult to separate statements of opinion from those of hard facts. But I did read somewhere that the FC-029 is optional, and you can just include the same statement about unaltered copies of originals in the cover letter, and avoid the FC-029. I both filed one and included it in my cover letter as sort of a belt/suspenders method. In any case, I believe only the petitioner would need to sign the form, as the beneficiery really isn't submitting anything directly in the I-129F petition. The form itself isn't listed on the USCIS web-site under immigration forms, and it apparently hasn't been updated since 1998. These lead me to believe that making the certifying statement in the cover letter would suffice. Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTotal Cost Sheet
I think its most useful to measure the increased cost of marrying someone from another country versus the cost of having a significant other and getting married all in the US. The travel back and forth for me is clearly the biggest expense (plane ticket alone around $1500), along with phone bills (about $120/month) and sending financial support to Jovy ($ varies). I spent about $75 on office supplies (not all were necessary for the 192F itself) and $170 on the I-129F filing fee, and did everything myself. Express mail to the VSC was $21, and the pictures I sent in the package cost maybe $5 to print on CVS.com.

On the flip side, when Jovy arrives and we're married, it will likely be more additional cost for living expenses, food, utiltities, clothes, etc. than the amount of support I currently send, and we'll still be sending some money to improve quality of life for her family. So, I don't really count the financial support as incremental to this process, its just a part of life now. If she lived here, we would spend much more going out to dinner, movies etc. whereas now I am eager to get home so I can call her on the phone (savings). The cost of wedding is going to be expensive, as it would have been if I were marrying someone that lived in my own neighborhood, so I wouldn't really count that either.

This topic is a good idea, it would be good if I can budget the remaining costs of the immigration process, as my journey has only just begun.

* To download the Application Form: Click here (it should be printed back to back in one A4 size paper)

NOTE: Passengers traveling by Cruise Ship are not required to get a visa.

Wow, that's right on point, thanks for saving me the aggravation! Not sure why I thought Mexico would be easier to enter as a visitor than the US, other than as a USC it's always been automatic. There are no routes that don't pass through a US airport (and US visa won't be happening yet), plus, all of the financial solvency and stuff is more than we'd be able to pull together for her. Anyway, I'll probably pass on my buddy's destination wedding, as he is merely passing the cost of his honeymoon onto his closest friends and family (lol i think they stay free if they get enough guests to book there). I think he'll understand that this year its more important to me that I use my vacation to spend time with Jovy while we wait for her to get her visa. Thanks to you all for your willingness to help on my question!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone know if my Filipina fiancee can visit Mexico?

Hi All.

Jovy is a citizen of the Philippines and we are in the K-1 visa process for her to move to the US and marry me. She has a passport already. My friend is getting married in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico in November, and I can't find anything on the internet that would indicate whether or not she could freely enter Mexico with only her passport. All google topics I found on the subject related to people in the US (including citizens of other nations) wanting to travel to Mexico, and it directs you to visit the consolate in New York City (which clearly Jovy cannot do).

I'd like to spend a week of vacation in November with her in Mexico so she can attend the wedding with me and meet some of my friends. I would then get almost two extra days to spend with her for my week off, since I work and she is not working, and its only 10 total travel hours for me to/fro Mexico (versus 45+ hours for a round trip to the Phils). Does anyone know what would need to be done in advance, or how I can find this info? Thanks for any advice.

I think she does need a visitor visa coming from the Philippines, but not sure. She needs to check with the Mexican embassy in Manila (or in one with a website). The main website for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is: www.sre.gob.mx and it's got an English version... follow the links and I'm sure you'll find the info you need.
Hope this helps, L.

That's what I needed thanks! No embassy or consolate in the Philippines, however, strangely enough Jovy will be meeting me in Singapore (hopefully in September) while I'm there for work, and there is an embassy there. We can just check out the feasability while we're there. Thanks again for the quick response!

She has a P.O. And if so which address should i use if i have to pick one?

Thanks ahead..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresService center human errors - rant
I guess this is just a rant but i sent my stuff in at the end of january. I was going to send in the old form since the web said it was good till 2.18.07 or whatever. BUT i went ahead and downloaded the NEW 129-F right when it came out and sent it instead. I am now visiting my fiance in her country for a 6 weeks and someone is checking my mail. They have sent the entire packacge back after a week claiming i had the old form. And even then, the old form was supposed to still be good untill the 18th or so. I think i got the package back on the 5th of feb.. Should i not be suprised with errors such as these? Does anyone else have similar stories? I made sure to triple check everything and even had my house sitter go through the forms and verify that ALL the forms were up to date after i got them back. #######, now i wont be back home for another month and dont want to risk someone sending them. BTW that was the Vermont Center.
Good luck people.
I am on a dialup, sorry if there is a specific forum for rants, i couldnt find it,.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalling Cards

well since i live here in New York, pretty much there are many many phone cards that give you about 1 hr caling time to the dominican republic, and they are only 2 dollars, Now i have over 100 of these aved, and since i was reading the guides i saw that it stated that it wil be good to show calling receipts or etc, but i used these ards because they are affordable and convenient, should i do something, send them, copy it send or what.... thanks

Your lucky. I used those cards to call to Ethiopia. It cost me a lot more, 5.oo for 20 Minutes. So anyway after racking up about 400.oo in those cards (I saved them all) Cablevision came out with a VOIP service that was 500 minutes to anyplace in the world for 20.oo. I have a combination of those call reciepts as well as the stack of "Africa Dream" calling cards. If you still have to cards i would suggest to send her the used ones. It will only help when she shows proof.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresam I the only one

As I fill out the G-325A I am baffled at how.... or why they would leave so little room to write the answers. I have seen people who can write very small but this seems less about getting information and more about testing ones ability to squeeze names dates cities and countries in places big enough for only one of them.

I guess I could write all this stuff on an attachment sheet of paper but It would make a lot more sense to design a form big enough.

Ever notice when the Govt "wants to" it has no problem giving you ample room to fill in the blanks such as the IRS forms or and Arrest data sheet. (so I have been told :) :)
:innocent:

Pull up the form via the web in PDF form and fill them out online.
You cannot save it if you only have Adobe Acrobat reader. (Just fill out online and print)
If you wanted to save it you could download FoxIt Reader *
Or go to the store and but a copy of adobe acrobat.
Good luck

*FoxIt Reader will leave a watermark, there are ways of removing that watermark using "programs" that you can search for via the web.

I am in the same boat I called NVC and was told as long as there is no inactivity on your part your fine. The date you have to worry about is the Visa Expiration date when it is granted. I am waiting for the embassy to set up an appointment for Delvan. What did you get in your package 3 Delvan only got a letter saying they were working on his case.

Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie to VJ. I have a question regaring the Embassy interview process and the approval notice date on the I-797 form.

I filed the K-1 Fiance visa for my fiance and received I-797 Notice of Action on June 12, 2007. I received the a letter from the NVC letting me know that the petition was forwarded to the visa issuing-post in Kingston JA on June 18, 2007 and was advice that my fiance would be receiving a packet with instruction from the consular section. Everything was going very good until the petition was received at (Embassy) in Kingston JA.

I called NVC and they inform me that the petiton was sent to the Embassy on July 17, 2007 and the pkg3 was sent to my fiance and Aug 3, 2007. I made this called Aug 10, 2007. We waited the entire month of Aug no pkg3. I sent the Embassy and email informing them of the issue and they mailed my fiance another pkg3 which he rec'd on Sept 11. 2007. Now the approval notice is valid from 6/12/2007 to 10/12/2007 which is just around the corner. We are in the process of completing the documents, however i am starting to worrying about the expiration date of the approval notice.. If my fiance does have his interview prior to the approval notice expiring will we have to re- file the petiton (I-129F) again.... Any advice I would be greatly appreciated.

To be clear:
You can do the translation yourself. You just have to certify (confirm) that you are fluent in the language. You can find clear instruction somewhere on the uSCIS website. You should make the translation look as much like the original as possible (even include the seal).

It is a pain to get all the certified copies, that's why I sent originals last time. Sometimes, NVC might RFE for original document to produce as well.

skynaut,

I went through the Poland U.S Consulate website. I think it is better to email them and ask if one needs to present originals at the interview or NVC will forward them.

There are DCF filers direct to the Consulate. For them, they need to present originals at the interview since there is no involvement of NVC.
