VSC format is EAC 10-9-nnnnnnn where: EAC - VSC prefix 10 - Fiscal year 2010 9 - Some constant nnnnnnn - 7 digit serial number This 7 digit serial number is the case# assigned by VSC in the fiscal year 2010 for all cases (I-130,I-765,I-131,I-485 etc.). Now let's say, my case# is EAC-10-9-0335579 (This is not my actual receipt# ) Now subtract one by one from the number 0335579 to see ONLY I-130 cases and see their status. Footenote: This is not a reliable method of predicting the things. It just gives an idea where you stand. Some approved I-130 could be expedited too. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	July 2010 CR-1 filers	loto tried your theory for the receipt numbers, mine is 632 ( last 3 ) i went back to 350 and that was approved though the page has to be reopened to check a different number as it seems to remember what you put in and not update completely....but good news is that csc has approved up to 350 at least which is less than 300 from my numbers TheSahlis, Check at least 5 to 10 approvals prior to yours. Otherwise, will have to wait until approval. Hope CSC will speed up soon. Based on the data, current estimate is December approval for most of the July CSC guys. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	July 2010 CR-1 filers	Hi! I am a July filer. It's so helpful/encouraging to visit visajourney and see all your stories. Over the last few days, I've been visiting the site every day and getting great advice and encouragement, sometimes in person and sometimes by reading old threads. I feel very lucky to have access to this resource and am thankful for htose who have helped me inthe last few days. I know I probably won't get my NOA2 until the end of November or December, maybe even January. It's just encouraging to see that I'm not alone and there are others in the same boat. To get ready, we are getting our documents together (birth, marriage and police certificates, etc.) so that we can send them off asap after the NOA2 arrives. I feel lucky because I will see my husband this weekend (it's Canadian thanksgiving). While he's here we will fill out DS-230 & I-864 forms for the next stage as much as we can. I just heard today that my second police certificate is ready - yay! Hopefully later this week, it will be sent by courier. Other than that, I think the only thing I can do in the meantime is get my antibody titers blood test to see which of the vaccines I've had in the past are still providing immunity. I can't help but wonder if my expedite got approved and it's in transit in the mail..our touches stopped last thursday after 3 straight touches. Hope it will be expedited, CanadianRedneck! I called and talked to NVC operator just half an hour back and confirmed the I-130 packet scanning at NVC building. This is just a preliminary step. I think upto one year (some other will confirm it) NVC will hold it for the response from both the petitioner and the beneficiary. For other petitioners such as LPR (not USC), the visa# is not immediately available. NVC Quote - "If visas are not available for your visa category, the NVC will notify you that the NVC received your petition and will hold it until a visa becomes available." Loto I believe it is a year as well but this is the only reference I could find on the NVC site. Intending immigrants have one year after notification of the visa interview appointment schedule from the NVC to pursue a visa or the visa application and any approved visa petition for the applicant will be cancelled. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	California Service Center To Texas Service Center	i saw on web yesterday, then rec'd email last night, re: our i-129f that it is being "processed at a USCIS office" but web still shows initial review on both i-130/i-129f... dont know if that means they are simply processing the petition or if a decision has been made and they just sent wrong message out. [-o< IMO, All these emails and site update is not always reliable. If any email comes or site update happens something like - "This I-130 Immigrant petition for foreign beneficiary has been APPROVED." - then we can confirm it. Key word here is "APPROVED". IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	California Service Center To Texas Service Center	excellent explanation! also K-3 is good option in a case where AOS wont be done (i.e. not planning to live in USA permanently) and in some countriies can make a difference in what embassy/consulate you are interviewed (one far away does immigrant visas, one local does non-immigrant). on the messages people are getting i.e. USCIS has rec'd from a State dept versus it's been transferred to a USCIS office for processing (even though the notice of transfer to TSC has already been sent)... i'm confused on what they mean. the latter (USCIS for processing) means they are just working on our petition and really isnt indicative of status (i.e. approved, denied, rfe)?? You're good at explaining things concisely and clearly so if you wouldnt mind...? thanks! nab, IMO, I think that is a software glitch from TSC. All these messages must be ignored. Some people with "Post Decision Activity" by email might have already had a decision (a decision can be approval/denial, but most people will have APPROVAL). If they already approved and unable to track USCIS website properly or no clear emails, NOA2 will show up by regular mail in a week time. This is what happened to me. USCIS site didn't update properly and didn't have any emails too. But, within 5 days, I got a surprise NOA2 by mail. Yes, your other point is valid too.
