I tried to log in to my USCIS website to check my status but I couldn't get into my account so i called the customer service thinking since i couldn't get my status online that might mean i have been approved or they are updating my status to reflect the approval only to be told by the customer service person [I finally got through to a human] that I still have to wait for 73 more days because right now VSC is dealing with December petitions. I am really tired of all this waiting. I told her i will be out of the timeline in 73 days and she said to call back if that happens [as if i will get a human to answer my questions again] I told her why are people who filed after me getting their approval if they are truly working on December petitions, she couldn't answer the question. I don't really make a fuss about things but I am just frustated, can't go for a visit cos i don't have vacation time nor the money for that right now. This is truly frustrating, is there anything i can do right now [Please don't say you need to be patient] I am already doing that and believe me it's not fun. Just needed to vent. crying.gif sad.gif

Hi:

I am a February filer and our case just got approved at the end of June. I won't tell you to be patient, but just be mindful that everything happens for a reason. What I will say is have faith. The other advice that I will give you is that if you are not "satisfied" with what the first operator told you at USCIS or even if something doesn't sound right, keep calling! Maybe the next person will tell you something different. Its just like if you need major surgery and you don't like what the first doctor told you, get a second opinion! I went into the first process thinking it would take six months from the date I filed until the 2nd NOA and it doing so, imagine my surprise and joy when it came in 4 months... Keep the faith. You are not alone...

Hope this helped ease your pain some! God Bless....

I'd add that if it takes a while (5+ months), you can engage your senators and congressman. Often times, that will have no result on your case, but at least it gives you something to do.

Thanks I am gathering all my paperwork but my SO cannot get police report right now until we get the approval so i guess i need to be more patient. blush.gif

hello there! I know exactly how you feel but you are not alone in this process. It is terribly hard to just sit idle and nothing that we can do, our future is now in the hands of the USCIS and we are powerless, I hate that feeling as well.

It looks like you have a mid march NOA1 and nobody has been aproved ahead of you yet. I think you are looking at the CSC timelines. It looks like they are working on the February apps now at Vermont. There is only one guy that got lucky and got aproved at VSC with a NOA1 date of March 3rd.

It is kinda pointless to talk to USCIS over the phone. Unless you talk to an officer, the people on the phone do not have more info than what you see online.

Thanks, hopefully i will hear good news soon and yes the officers do not have more info that the one on the web. Sometimes I wish I live in one of the states that submit to CSC maybe by now i will have my NOA2. I guess there is nothing more than to wait some more.

So you can't see your status on USCIS.gov at all? or it is simply 'pending'?

Note: The whole "December" thing simply means there are petitions that old that they are still 'working on' - doesn't mean (as you already know) December filers are all the most recent petitions they're working on.

Your timeline indicates a possible adjudication date range which is usually pretty accurate - you should be getting close now. Hang in there - this is the hardest part.

I try logging in but it kept telling me login invalid and this is the second time i am changing my login name and password so i just decided to call them instead. Thanks you. I will try to hang in there as you rightly said.

Just keep praying all will be well.

How did you track your package, did you ask NVC for DHL tracking #?

You have to go on DHL website and track by Reference, enter EXP 12 SEP 2009A (adjust using dates just before the date NVC told you), with a shipping range of that day to a few days later Sep 14 - Sept 15 works for the example above. Look for shipments to Lagos embassy. Hope you understand?

we began seeing each other very often inside the university and out. I would visit her at work during her cooking classes, and she would always take the time to help me and keep me motivated with my struggling Arabic.
I would expand upon the "very often" in detail -- how many hours per day (an aggregate total if it sounds impressive), and the depth and nature of your conversations -- discussion of life, goals, etc. It also might be a good idea (IF it is true!) to add a line that N. had no compulsion to leave her country and in fact had not considered the idea, but that she would be willing to follow the man she loves to wherever he lives.

yes its true. she said exactly that actually. she said that the only reason she was comfortable with going to the US was because she would have me smile.gif

yay biggrin.gif

i fixed it like you said, added that stuff in, heres the new one:

To Whom It May Concern:

I was to study abroad in Spain from July 15th to August 15th directly through my school William Paterson University in the US, travel freely for 2 weeks, and spend the 2008 fall semester studying at Moulay Ismail University in Meknes, Morocco before returning home via Spain on December 21st 2008. After arriving in Meknes in September with the ISA group, it wasn?t long before I met my now-fiancée Nisrine A****, a local English student at the university. We first met very briefly at the Rif Hotel while she was bringing other exchange students back to their hotel after visiting the hammam, and then again at ISA director I*** E*******?s surprise birthday party in mid-October. I was very attracted to her, but at first she was nervous because she feared getting taken advantage of. With a little time however, we began seeing each other almost daily (at times all day) inside the university and out. I would visit her at work during her cooking classes, and she would always take the time to help me and keep me motivated with my struggling Arabic. We always talked of traveling the world together (Thailand, India, Peru), and found we had very similar interests and values. We found that we both wanted jobs helping people, such as teaching or social work, and considered maybe even starting our own cooking school one day. It only got better every day we were with each other, and we were really happy.

After some time, my trip began to near its end, and I realized I was in love with her and didn?t want to leave. I told her this, and she responded to me very positively, telling me that she felt she was in love with me also. Riding in a taxi one day, I took a chance and proposed to her. She was shocked, but happily accepted. She initially had no compulsion to leave her country, friends or family for the US, but told me she was OK with it because she would have me, and that she is willing to follow the man she loves to wherever he lives. This was amazing; I knew she was the one. We also knew that before my leaving Morocco, I should respectfully introduce myself to her parents to make my intentions known. I arrived at her house with cake, sugar and flowers in hand, things went well, and we became officially engaged. A few weeks later, I departed for the US, and we continued to stay in touch by talking via internet and/or telephone everyday without fail. After waiting for us both to graduate college this past semester (Spring 2009) and for myself to acquire a full-time job, I quickly began to save money and gather the materials necessary to petition for the K-1 visa. I wish I was able to visit her more often, but due to school, money restraints and job responsibilities, it has been tough. I am looking forward very much to seeing and being with Nisrine again, and can?t wait for us to be able to spend the rest of our lives together. Please expedite this petition as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Sincerely,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquick engagement?
Hey,

I was worried that our situation might be considered a "quick engagment" and was wondering if it might cause any problems for us...

Some of you might already know my story... I met my fiancee in Morocco while I was studying abroad last fall, we first met in October and we got engaged a couple weeks right before I left in mid December right before Christmas... so it was about 2 months of knowing each other before i proposed to her. we technically kind of had to get engaged quickly because in their culture parents shouldnt know of casual relationships, only when he proposes and it is serious enough for marriage. and of course there is no way her parents would have accepted if they hadnt met me first before my leaving. we both graduated college just this past semester and now im starting a full-time job. so obviously i havent been able to save the money to go back there again for another visit. its hard saving money for that especially in my situation.

might that be a problem though? im gonna front-load the petition a lot and im writing a little extra for the "how we met" question. what does everyone think?

We received our NOA2 on 9/2 but our papers did not leave the NVC (35 days in AP) until 10/9. Are interview appointments given based on 129f filing date, the date the papers arrive in Ankara, or from the date Packet 3 is returned?
According to the timeline, it takes 93-110 days from when the embassy receives the paperwork from NVC to have the interview. I have noticed that that is not always the case. Does anyone know what factors into the interview date?
Thanks, Carol

From what I understand, Ankara will send you an appointment date once you have returned packet #3. Most of the people in the "Just Turkish" thread ( under regional discussions - Europe and Eurasia) have said their interview date was 3 to 4 months from the day they sent packet # 3 and then received their appointment date.

I just discovered a new date, its called a 'priority date' which is the date that the Service Center received 129F. I have to look into this more but you may be right about 3-4 months but it is not always the case. I have seen appointments in Ankara scheduled for 4-6 weeks after Package 3 is back at the embassy.
Good luck in your wait.....its not easy but looking back the time has gone by quickly....looking ahead is always hard.
Thanks for the info about Just Turkish; I didn't know it existed. It looks like a great place to share in the journey. See you there.

If you are filing abroad:
File Form I-129F with the service center based on the last place you lived in the United States.
That would be Vermont for you

It takes about a week to get to the NVC, so you will likely hear something about status if you call after that. Make sure you speak to a person. K1's are not updated on the automated status option.

Hello fellow vj'ers! It was nice of all the people who responded to my hello. My fiance and I were both (at our own homes) looking at VisaJourney today and it really made us happy seeing all of the people who have had such good luck in this process. I will be sending off my I-129f form here very soon. I'm thinking I may send it off by Friday. My question is this.....can someone help me in some of the specifics of the I-129f form? I have an example sitting right in front of me. I got it from this site and another one from ***removed***. This is where my problem is coming though. I have read almost this entire site and the other one I just mentioned! I've been on the USCIS site and have been watching YouTube videos as well. And now after all of that I've gotten so much information in my head that it seems to be overloaded. I'm only asking for help because I'm really ready to do this. Neither me nor my fiance have any experience in something like this so if anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated. However most of the questions I have I have a good guess what the answer is. I just wanted to see if someone could tell me, "this is how I did it"! I promise to help other noobs with any information you can give me and be a steady member of the VJ community. Thanks everybody!

Part A:
On question ten when it says, "My citizenship was acquired through" it has two choices under it, a box asking for a certificate number, a box beside the word parents two questions asking if you have a certificate of citizenship in your name and if yes when and where it was issued.

Where on the birth certificate is your number of certificate? Is it the number on the top right of the document? Should it be a 10 digit number? A seven digit number? And what do I do if all I have is a copy? Also having to do with something else it asks for a copy of the front and back. Mine doesn't have anything on the back besides security document watermarks.

You were born in the USA, you do not have certificate of naturalization. Certificate of naturalization is only for people born outside of the USA. If you are less than 18 years old when your parent are getting citizenship, that's when you acquire citizenship thru parents. Anyway, this is only for you info, as I said earlier you were born in the USA and you do not have certificate of naturalization so check birth in the USA and leave everything else blank.

What is the box that just says parents for? Is it asking if you got your citizenship through your parents? I'm guessing that is what it is and that I would leave it blank if "Birth in the U.S." was my answer.

Correct

What is a certificate of citizenship? Is it something you would get if you were a citizen but not born in the U.S.?

Part B:
On question 3a it asks for the place of birth for my fiance. It asks for the town of city and then in another, smaller box it asks for State/Country. Do I put in the state or country or both? If I'm supposed to put both which I believe I'm supposed to do what do I do if I can't fit it in the box? It is Tehran/Iran. But the only way it will fit in the box is if I put TehranIran. Will this be acceptable?

Tehran is the capital city of Iran. So for town/city you would put Tehran, for state/contry Iran.

On question 9 should I leave it blank of put the word "none" in the box?

None

For question twelve how do you fill out the boxes for arrival/departure date and date of arrival and date authorized to say expired? If I put in the box above all of that that she is not currently in the U.S. do I just leave it blank? I was thinking that was a "no-no".

Blank

On question 15 when they ask for the phone number that she has in Canada do I put it like this? 011 1 555 555 5555? Will they ever call that number? The reason I ask is because my fiances family since finding out what we are wanting to do has been extremely hard on her. They won't let her work so she can't have money to get her own place. They tell her to leave me or they will kick her out in the streets. They call her names and recently her father said that he would actually take her life! We have decided to keep this all under the rug until things start to blow over a bit. If that's even possible. I try to be there for her as much as I can but I don't make a whole lot of money and flying to Toronto takes a big chunk out of my check everytime. It'd be so much easier if I could just go visit all the time....Ugh, the call worries me.

Does she have a cell phone? If she does than put cell phone number as her home phone number. My best friend went thru this process few years ago, USCIS never called, but the embassy called her job to check if she works there. So, you never know what they might do.

BIG QUESTION!!!!! On question 16 it asks if my fiances native alphabet uses other than Roman letters, write her name and address in the native alphabet. She lives in Canada. She speaks and write English. But she is formerly from Iran and can also speak Farsi. Does she need to sign this in Farsi? Does she write in her current address in Farsi too? If not do we just keep it blank? Geez, I don't expect a lot of repliers to this I know I'm making it too long! I'm sorry.

I asked my fiance to sign his name in native alphabet, why not, it's not gonna hurt your application smile.gif

If you can help me I'd be so greatly appreciative. I promise I will pass this knowledge onto anybody else I ever in my life hear ask. Whoever takes the time to respond to this let me know if you could answer just a couple of the same type of questions for the g-325a. Like I said before I have read so many different websites now and heard so many different supposed truths that I've gotten everything jumbled in my head. I know not to take anything as the exact truth without looking it up but I don't even know where to go now that I've read the whole site and am still a little confused. Thanks guys.....anything you can give me I will appreciate so much!

Well I have read the guide on here about 3 times now fully and I am still confused on somethings! lol

Do I need to send in the I-134 AOS form in with the I-129F packet in the beginning or is that for a later date?

No, he will need I-134 for interview

Should I certify mail the I-129F packet or something else?

I would recommend certified mail

The forms I am sending in, my fiance wasnt here to sign in person, but he filled them out, signed them, scanned them and then emailed them to me and I printed them out. Will they accept that?

I believe they need to be signed, not printed copies, but I could be wrong

I know I have more questions, but I cant think of them right now lol

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPregnant and anxious....want my fiance here!!!
Okay, so, if everything goes according to MY plan, my fiance should be getting his interview date approximately for the last week of August (God willing!). I won't be able to go to Bogota to accompany him to the interview as I will be 38 weeks pregnant by then. Is there anything that I can do to assure the issuance of the visa? I would love for him to be here by the time our daughter is due - September 15!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa question
Good luck with the K1, Andrew, for you and your lady! We are going through it too, and have been together for the past 3 years, with a 21-month old little boy, and our baby girl who is due in 5 weeks from today. We have our appointment at the Embassy in Bogotá on August 25th. I hope to God that my future husband can be here before our little girl makes her appearance into the world. Once she comes to the US ona K-1 visa, you have 90 days in which to get married. As soon as you marry, apply for an adjustment of status, which takes approximately another 3-6 months. After that, then she can travel to Colombia....Once again, good luck!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Questions and Timelines? Denied Petiton For Expedite With Pregnant Fiance.
We are too are going through the same process, and I too, was pregnant, with our second child. I did not file for an expedited case, and according to my lawyer, it probably would not have been approved anyway. I started the process for my fiancee on January 28, and we had the interview at the embassy in Bogota on August 25th. We have to go back for a second interview with DNA results for both of our children and my fiancee to prove that he is their father before they will grant us the K1 visa. I think, that if all goes well, we should be going back to the embassy in approximately a month or so. By the way, our daughter was born two days ago, and everything went perfect. Daddy wasn't able to be here, but God is great, and we will be together soon to start living together as a family!!!! Can't wait!!! Keep your chin up and don't get discouraged. I have all of the hope in the world!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescrazy signature question
QUOTE (ashwood486 @ Sep 21 2009, 10:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello, everyone great forum

I am currently getting all the information together for the K-1. I had hoped to send it out this week but,

My question, I sent the forms to my fiance in Colombia with the e-mail, she printed them and sent everything back no problems. I noticed she printed her signature in english, on all the forms including the letter of intent, she says thats how she signs her name. So now I have no idea what to do.

I have a feeling this is not going to be a good thing with the first person that looks at the packet.

open for many suggestions at this point.

thanks so much

Further details on how she signs her name would be very helpful, as you aren't being very clear. Would live to be able to offer you some help, but you are being too vague.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures8 days to go....my fiance will be arriving!!!!!
First of all, I am sooooooooooo happy! My fiance and future stepson will be arriving next Wed! Yeyyyyy!!!! I am so excited....but I have so many questions.

This has been a long (and EXPENSIVE) process, but once our family is united, all the time, energy and money we have spent will be well worth it. I can't wait to have them here. We have a newborn 6-week old daughter who he has never seen in person, and I can't wait to see the look on his face once he has the chance to hold her!

Okay, so, once they are here, when can we apply for a SSN for them? Do we have to apply for AOS first, or is this something that we can do with his valid K1 status? Also, I live in NJ. When (and how) do we go about getting his driver's license? Please advise.

Thanks for your responses!!!

NOVEMBER 11th!!! The third happiest day of my life!!!!

I have had my congressman send a letter with only a response of continued proceesing. " and a bunch of other ####### they wrote. I have been with my fiancee now 3 times, just returned from a two week visit with her. I am going back in Jan, i miss her so much. Does anybody know of this security clearance deal? . K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance entered US illegally:Could I still file a I129F petition for him?
QUOTE (brlukath @ Sep 13 2009, 12:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You do need to be honest about it though. And make sure it was only a 5 year ban. If the ban is still in effect, it is actually ILLEGAL to apply for a visa or otherwise seek admission to the USA without FIRST getting permission, so you could get in more trouble. Does he have any paperwork from that time? Was he actually removed (deported), or did they just deny him entry? Also, does he have a record in DR because of this? Sometimes you face consequences in DR for this sort of thing.

It looks like you have a lot of information to gather. And, since you know in advance that you have an issue, it may be advisable to shell out the cash for a GOOD US immigration lawyer. S/he will be able to facilitate the acquisition of any available documentation (and your SO's A number etc.), so that you can be proactive and not delay the process.

Good luck.

Thanks for the information. My fiance says that he was not given any paperwork or anything, they just took his fingerprints in Puerto Rico the same day he entered and after 10 days, they deported him back to DR. He does not have a record in DR, which seems very weird to me. But his record is clean. I am not sure what to make of it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance entered US illegally:Could I still file a I129F petition for him?
Hi, I filed form I129F in March 2009. My fiance and I have been together for more than 5 years now. I am patiently waiting to receive any new information from the Vermont Service Center, but I am nervous about something and I was wondering if anyone could help me. My fiance tried to enter illegally to Puerto Rico from Dominican Republic, in 2003 (seven years ago) when he was 17 years old. He was caught in Puerto Rico and deported to Dominican Republic. In DR, the consulate told him that after five years that deportation would erase from his record since he was under-age and that he could try to enter the US legally after those five years. I would like to know if that affects the petition and also, should he have sent a pardon when we started filing form I129F? I am so afraid that will ruin his chances. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

What a spectacle! I can't even comment without saying something really hurtful so.... I really won't.

But if the OP has his ducks in a row now, why are you even complaining? It's fixed, right? There is nothing I can't stand more than someone who works out a problem but continues to talk about how much of a hardship it was to fix that problem.

Honestly..move on.

Amberdima,

You bring about a legitimate issue and if you come from a family like mine, ignoring them is not really possible. This is just where you have to be of a strong mind. Yes it is possible to be scammed. I hear stories of people being scammed by people they even grew up with back at the ol' country and recently fell in love with. It's hard when that person is a relative and telling you first hand. I understand. How do I deal with it? First, I accept that every relationship is a risk and make sure that with every step it is a risk that I am comfortable with. After that, if asked about my guy I just say "we are great!" and leave it at that. I might also throw in a "its so amazing how a long distance relationship forces you to really get to know each other. You can't hide behind good sex!" Use the second sentence only as appropriate. As someone said earlier, the nay sayers can only see for themselves. So focus on building a strong relationship. They'll come around later. I was a nay-sayer, and here I am...

wise words. thanks)
