That's what I told them, that we'd get all the expedite documents scanned in as well in PDF form..so I'm pretty sure she understood what I meant. Hopefully my wife gets her butt in gear and gets the required stuff..good thing we got a scanner at her house..I can do all of that next week when I'm there. Or the lawyer will do it..I'll bust his butt too, if he slacks.

Montreal...I'm coming!! Add extra security..just kidding. lol

Call NVC and get IIN. That's the next step. Once you have it, check the payment portal (it is different payment portal that we used) if the invoices for AOS and IV are ready.

Regular or Electronic processing? I thought I was signing up for electronic processing when I gave the operator our emails..they already had our attorney's email address on file...and I told her I wanted to do electronic processing so that we didn't have to wait for the snail mail?

is that the correct procedure?

Electronic Processing is completely electronic, it means you send scanned documents AOS & IV etc.

Regular is partially electronic (such as payments, DS-3032 email etc.), but the documents sending is by regular mail.

I think you are going for the first option, fully paperless one.

Ok, I got lucky I think with NVC...I got through after 10 redials....25 minute wait..got our NVC case number..and I added our emails to the file..only thing is that I forgot to as for the IIN. Should I call back tomorrow and get it? And now they got our emails and stuff..how long until I get an email from them with more instructions? Oh, BTW, the lady was nice enough to tell me about hte process of Expediting the NVC application, so we're currently, within the week going to get all the documents and letters necessary, into PDF form and send that in right away.

And I'm going to get my PCC and Long form Birth Cert take care of this week.

Am I missing anything for now?

So far so good, CRN

Are you choosing regular NVC processing or Electronic Processing?

Hello Loto, I have noticed that you are the most active member in VJ. You are almost done in your processing. Can you walk us through all the processing? Besides, I am confused about DS3032 and i-864. I read that DS3032 can be emailed. Do we need NVC number to send it to NVC? I was dependent on someone else return last year. I am working this year. what should I do? Thanks.

Me and my wife,

Hi all,

Just recently found out that I have a RFE at NVC. but anyway I found out what I did not send by my self (no check list yet). Hopefuly thats my RFE.... now my question is for part 5 Q: 21 "If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse" what should I put 1 or 0. She does not live with me. Also I have a sponser that is sponsering her only, not me and the sponser, since I didn't make enough last year.

Thanks in advanced.

Since you don't count the same person twice, that entry will be 0.

If you have already printed the passport pages with the stamps, I think those will suffice.
When my wife adjusted status, she included every single page of her passport, whether there was a stamp or not! Unnecessary? Probably. But she wanted to be 100%.

I included all the pages of my US passport too.

It has 2 purposes:
1) To prove the petitioner is a USC sponsor
2) Secondary evidences of the marriage relationship, because it had all my travel stamps to visit her

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIV packet on passport style photos

Back in April when I was visiting my wife and getting our documents rounded up for the I-130. We had several passport style photo's taken for extra's. My wife Grace changed her color of hair about amonth ago. Its a dark burgundy brown. Should we get new passport style photo's with her new hair color, and will this be problem at interview where they see had black hair in the photo submitted for G-325A.

Hair color at the time of I-130 submission was depicted in the photos submitted with I-130. It is good.

Now before the NVC stage, get some new photos with new hair color.

Also, if the hair color is changed after NVC, get new photos again. Continue this process until the interview is over.

The number I gave you is different. It is not regular NVC number. You will get clear picture when you call at that number.

Are you USC petitioner or LPR petitioner? Or your consulate is busy scheduling interviews?

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday evening, my co-sponsor let me know she brought over their husband to the US in 1986. My spidey sense went off when she told me she didn't have to file an affidavit of support for him. She claimed her father did it. Is there any way to verify if this could be true through the USCIS? I know that he is a citizen/permanent resident (will check today) now, but they can't remember the process for the life of them...

Any ideas guys? Definitely would love to avoid filling out the Q 21. Letter F incorrectly.. If it even is a big deal.. :)

Rumba

Rumba,

Sponsor's obligations under a Form I-864 will end if the person who becomes a permanent resident based on a Form I-864 that you signed:

1) Becomes a U.S. citizen
2) Has worked, or can be credited with, 40 quarters of coverage under the Social Security Act;
3) No longer has lawful permanent resident status, and has departed the United States;
4) Becomes subject to removal, but applies for and obtains in removal proceedings a new grant of adjustment of status, based on a new affidavit of support, if one is required; or
5) Dies.

Note that divorce does not terminate your obligations under this Form I-864.

Looking at the time of the post I think she means it was very early in the morning when she posted. and wasn't sure if she was making sense.

Have a look at the comparison chart for the different visas. Comparison Chart

Just a note of caution regarding these charts, the times are not realistic for filers interviewing in Montreal as that consulate has been seriously backlogged for some time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow much goods can I take with me on POE?

Hey guys,

Does anybody know if I am allowed to take all of my personal belongings ONLY on the 1st POE (ie, activation of visa) or can I tell them "well, I'm activating my visa now on this POE, but on a later trip I'm going to be bringing a whole buncha other stuff with U-haul, which I couldn't bring this time"

Where can I read about how many things I can bring with me on POE or if I can also bring similar quantity of goods on subsequent trips??

Thanks,
Choles

As milimelo posted you have up to ten years to bring your stuff in. I made two major trips on my own and then my furniture followed a month later via a moving company. I had no issues at all.

Hmm I was under the impression that part of that new pilot program at Montreal it was available to IR1/Cr1's as well.

Not that I have seen (aside from DCF petitioners.) Once they assign you an appointment you have the option of changing it but at this point i haven't heard of anyone being able to book it outright. I'd be interested to know if you hear anything differently.

BTW any luck contacting Montreal?

So you can schedule once you get your P3 or P4 ? I've been reading so much...I'm confused, lol.. at least I understand the new procedure..well that we can do it now over the phone or online....everything to that point is a mash. My head is still thumping from the stress of dealing with USCIS. :bonk:

I believe K1 and DCF petitioners can self-schedule for Montreal but NOT CR1/IR1. CR1/IR1 pettioners can change their interview date, if needed, through the self-scheduling after it has been assigned but not initially.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresphoto labeling

Hello!
Just had a quick question about labeling the passport photos that we include with Packet IV (DS-230). We write the name on the back. Is there anything else that should be included in the labeling(NVC case number? social security number? date of birth?)? I believe this should be written lightly with pencil or pen and put in a plastic bag. I would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations.

Thank you!

SJ

I wrote my name, DOB and NVC case # lightly with a pen. Placed photos in a small plastic bag, labelled that bag and attached the bag to a blank piece of paper which was included with the other required forms and documents. Good luck!
