I'm continuing my research...apologies anyone who may have gotten confused while reading my posts. I never personally advocated anyone to file federal income tax single if there married. I actually know for a fact if you were married during the tax year you cannot file taxes single. Also, Does anyone knows about filing jointly the federal income tax and declaring world income especially if your spouse worked in his country (in my case, Sri Lanka)? IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Help Some Advice Needed	Okay to break this down as easy as possible. We Enrolled in Electronic Processing. Through the process they have been accepting all of our documents. Randomly in the middle of the process they threw us into a pilot program to fill out a new electronic form called DS-260. Now NVC is telling us we have to mail all of our documents in hard copy. What doesn't make sense about this is we are enrolled in EP. They said now we have to send everything in. Does that mean the last 3 months was wasted???? Like why are they now requesting all hard copies to accompany the DS-260 if they already have all the documentation in Electronic format. There are no discrepancies in the information, the idea is we have to supplement the DS-260 with the supporting documents. I'm just so frustrated and lost right now. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Wife visiting US while CR-1 is being processed	IF they invalidate her tourist visa, any time she attempts to travel to the US after that, they'll treat her as an intending immigrant, and she will have to prove beyond reasonable doubt with strong ties to her home country that she intends to return. many have traveled to the US successfully. many have also been denied (like my wife) While your Visa is processing the last thing you want to do is get multiple denials, and than a notation put in your wifes passport, where they suspect her of Fraudulence. At that point in the interview her visa will be denied because of that. Better to play it safe, and just wait like most of us have to do. Hope this helps. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	PLEASE HELP!	Hi, My husband came from overseas through a marriage visa. Since we haven't reached our 2 year anniversary yet he is a conditional resident. Recently we found out that his mother is in ICU and there is a 90% chance she wont make it. He wants to go back to overseas for 10 days, him and his older brother want to travel. My aunt works at the hospital his mother's in. I made an infopass appointment for him to visit the local immigration office, its Tuesday. I want to know if anyone has had this experience before? He's only been here 6 months, he has a job and everything here now. Do you think immigration will have a problem with him going since he hasn't been here too long? I mean his mom is dying. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Silly DS 230 question	Hello all, I have asked many questions in this forum, and have received many fantastic answers. Out of all of these questions, this may be the most ridiculous. I just received my wife's DS 230 packet in the mail, and it looks like she accidentally forgot page 3 of the form (the first page of the sworn statement). I just paid the IV bill today, and my question, is simply this. I have a copy of page 3 that shes filled out, and as its all typed, can I just print out the copy I have and send it in? There's no signature on this page or anything so I figure it will be alright. The reason why I ask is because of paper sizes. Yes, paper sizes. Will they care that the rest of the application is on A4 (the standard in the UK) and that one page is 8.5 x 11? Or will they not even care? Thank you so much for putting up with my crazy questions! All the best! Does anywhere it say the paper size? I have not seen it. So, IMO, it should be ok. But if it says the paper size precisely, then you should worry about. My husband is entering the United states for the 1st time on the 6 of december, my question is what should he expect at the port of entry and will there be someone there to translate for him? He has to take 2 flights from Haiti to miami, and fron miami to chicago, and am afraid he will miss his flight to chicago cuz he speak very little english, am hoping he finds someone to help him out. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Difference between IR-1 and CR-1	You dont go for IR1 - IR1 would be immidiate relative, so your spouse should be able to get PR which is 10 yr card and not the 2 yr. This would be done when he enters the country at POE, officer would ask him how long you have been married. Correct. You are eligible for IR1 at POE. I have seen for few people though ending up with CR1, but it is POE officer/USCIS error. Here are some steps to follow to be safe: 1) First mention it at the Consulate during the interview time (CO will do it, but just in case) 2) Mention it at POE too (POE officer will do it, but just in case) 3) You'll most probably end up with IR1 plastic card after POE. There is no upper age limit. Min age of sponsor or joint sponsor must be 18 years old. Also, your mom must be domiciled in the U.S. If your mom lives at your (sponsor's) address, she will file I-864A and you will file I-864. Yours and her income can be combined in this case. If your mom lives at different address, she will file I-864 and you will file I-864. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	income level-saying I need a Co-Sponsor	in 2009 i worked for only 3 months as i moved back to ohio after my stay in china in 2008 to see my wifes world...and i have been working since april 2010 to present and yes i do make over the poverty limit..thx It looks like your 2009 income is lower than the poverty line (worked only 3 months). Current year income is just above the poverty line. Now, you need a joint sponsor, as pushb said. I think somebody 'confidently' said (don't remember the name), the current year income is enough and past year income is not needed. This is the best example for them.
