K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	Hey there, Well that was a day i will never forget... Was in the embassy over 5hrs made the day very long indeed.. Well all the paperwork was all in order, there's a "BUT" coming here.... They have questioned me about my divorce paperwork as it seems my divorce papers don't have either words of FINAL DIVORCE or ABSOLUTE DIVORCE on it... Mines says DECREE OF DIVORCE & explained to the woman that scottish laws to divorce is very different to the english divorce laws.. So she proceeds to tell me that she has to look into this now to make sure i am divorced.. So feel kinda in limbo today after hearing that. She did say that i will get my passport back with visa stamped in it within 5-7 working days once she has cleared up on the matter.. So didn't come out of there feeling all the wooppeeeeeee's in the world... Wow, that was a long day! The good news is: everything else is OK. It should just be a phone call or an email to clear up the language on the divorce docs. Now would be a good time to send an email to the embassy and ask, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Departed ORD on the 4th of July, spent 2 1/2 wonderful weeks with Olga's family ( and YES, Russia right now is HOTTER than hell !!!! ) and then Olga and I departed Russia and arrived in Chicago on the 22nd. The Embassy thought that my step-dad was self employed, even though he's technically not, and they asked for a commercial credit check but then they decided it wasn't important and they could let us slide without it. Phew. Thank God the embassy was very nice and he didn't get a grumpy interviewer. They didn't even ask to see pictures or any evidence whatsoever apart from asking him how we met and when we decided to get married. He should have his passport back by Monday or Tuesday.. cutting it close to the line (wedding is the 24th!) but at least he'll be here, yay! Excellent news! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	Yup yup, we're all in this together even if it seems like the January posters seem to be appearing less and less lately. Guess they're all busy with their honeys. One week until the interview today! I wrote Peter a note in the packet I sent with the affidavit of support and evidence and stuff to remain calm and dress nice, emphasis on dress nice since he's usually okay with just wearing jeans and a t-shirt.. and that this is just like a job interview, except the job he'll get is being my husband, a full time career right there. I'm going to be so nervous the whole day before the interview, good thing the interview itself will take place at 5:00 in the morning EST so I can wake up to good news.. I hope! Fingers crossed, people! We were in 'cow country' for a couple of days. Now I can recognize how a Russian cow 'Moos' (Myyyyyyy!) At Olga's interview. Other men in line were dressed in a spectrum that spanned jeans + tshirt, to Dockers and shirt with collar, to full business suit. The guys in suits were sweltering! In the two hours I was waiting outside, I only saw one or two 'unhappy' faces. I am sure Peter will do well! Good luck! p.s. - It is hot as hell in Moscow this week! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July. I will fly to Moscow tomorrow so I can be there when Olga and her son have their interviews on Tuesday. I can wait outside the Embassy anyway. Tuesday night, I will post our Woo-Hoos or Boo-Hoos. Woo-Hoos are in order! K1 & K2 visas were approved after an interview that consisted of about 15 questions. (10 of the questions were about the web site where we became acquainted.) At the end of the interview, the interviewer told Olga, "Visas are usually processed in 1.5 - 2 weeks." Olga said she had "big eyes" and told the woman that we wanted to leave on 7/16 (which she knew from the paperwork). Then the woman smiled and said, "Do not worry, your visas will go to DHL tomorrow! It is nice to find government employees with a sense of humor! Olga was nervous while waiting for the interview. Afterwards, she said that the Consulate employees were very nice, professional and the experience was very positive. I will post a review of the interview after I fully "debrief" Olga! It doesn't hurt, even though some older members of the forum might attack you on it. Members of the US House of Representatives exist to service their constituency. It really is worthwhile to contact the local office of your Representative, if for no other reason than to see some of your tax dollars actually working on something about which you care! I got a thank you card for the Immigration Specialist and was calling to thank her on Friday, but by the time I called she had already left the building at 4 PM.. early weekend. I have a general idea but if anyone would like to give me a guideline I'd appreciate it! When you call the NVC, talk to an operator, and ask for your Case Number and if an interview date was set. Then ask for the email address at the US Embassy. Immediately after that, email the embassy and request the current status of your case. I would also call the Immigration specialist at your Congressman's office, and ask if she can send an email to the embassy, requesting an interview date of <fill in your favorite date here). OUR PETITION HAS BEEN APPROVED! 126 DAYS OF HELL AND WORRY AND WAIT IS FINALLY OVER! I just came back from a day out shopping with my Mom and I heard the text and thought "it's probably my friend," even though when I get a text at this time of day I always HOPE it will be the government. The ONE DAY I thought for sure we would not get approved AND WE FINALLY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I'd never be able to type this. Thank you SO much to EVERYONE who has helped and supported me! I will continue to stand by those who are still awaiting the joy that I have just received. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	Yeah, I called the immigration specialist at my congressman's office today and she said they hadn't even worked on the case yet. Sheesh. I wouldn't have sent it in express if I knew they'd be taking their sweet time like VSC does. Wow...pokey processing! I faxed my letter to the Congressman's office. So it arrived immediately, and had a chance to cool for about a week before they got to it. Still, I can not complain, because it moved the process along for me. Today, the Princess is looking at hotels in Moscow, for when she has the medical exam. This will be done about a month before the interview, so the "interview week" will be less busy. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	my bf called the USCIS hotline twice but nothing happened, they said to wait until june 19. last month he contacted the congressman and forward him to his immigration lawyer, we sent him a letter, and privacy release form. now its been 2weeks, still he doesnt do anything. my bf called the congressman's office last thursday again, and they said they are going to call back but they didnt. i just want to ask whats the next thing to do? It would be helpful if you provided dates when various things happened. Without understanding the time line, it is challenging to determine if there is a problem, or where the problem may exist. For example, if your calls were made to USICS, and your Congressman and lawyer were all contacted last week, there is no problem: It takes a couple of weeks for these contacts to generate results. Did you receive any requests for additional information from USICS? Vermont is processing about four to five weeks behind California. Your lawyer should be driving this process for you. One of the ladies told me if everything goes well I should receive my visa in about 8 days. No evidence of relationship were asked for. At the last booth, the lady congratulated me before saying good bye. I hope it's a good sign. Woo-hoo for you two too! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	I think I'm calling my Congressman on Monday.. We should have our NOA2 by now.. Cheryl It can not hurt to contact the office of your Representative. Another January filer contacted their Congressman, and it was necessary for them to fill out a consent form, so the Congressman's office could get a copy of the I-129F documents. This is likely because the I-129F was not yet approved. My case was a little different; the I-129F was approved, and I requested an assist with obtaining an interview date earlier than mid-August. It should be noted, that Olga and I already have all of the documents required for the interview. If we were just collecting these documents now, there would be a two to three month wait for the police report. It is a good idea to review the Embassy web site for the country of your sweetie ahead of time , and learn what will be required for the interview. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January 2010 K-1 Filers	A little more insight about our interview date: This morning, I returned a call from the 'immigration specialist' at the office of my Congressman, to advise her about the favorable interview date. I asked about when she emailed the embassy. On May 18th, she called the NVC and learned that no interview date had been set. Then she sent an email to the Moscow Embassy. Within hours, the Moscow Embassy responded to my email, granting an interview within the timeframe that I requested in my letter to the Congressman's office. Needless to say, the person at the Congressman's office was quite pleased at the "lightening like" response from the Department of State. Oh, Yes! Men are quite accomplished at this style of cooking too. Every time I see a group of guys congregating near a BBQ, while burgers are incinerated, I think of cave men doing the same thing. Hang in there! Congrats! Hi Folks! Been away a few days Wilma and I were married last Saturday and she is starting to adjust to life in USA. Today is the first day for us apart since she arrived, I have to work, and she's already had problems this morning coz she can't get the tv on and she set off the smoke alarm... But she does like life here so far and we have been enjoying to honeymoon. I hope all the rest of the January filers still waiting for NOA2s get them soon. I received email from the Moscow Embassy, Olga's interview date is July 6, at 10:00AM! This will mean travelling on the July 4th weekend, but this is OK! A quick recap of the timeline: April 30, NOA2, package enters and clears NVC. May 6, NOA2 letter received. May 7, called office of Congressman and faxed letter, requesting interview appointment in late June or early July. May 13, sent email to Embassy requesting status of case. May 18, received email from Embassy advising of July 6 interview date! Writing to your Congressman does work! I called Olga, and told her about the interview date. I have a letter ready to be sent to the Congressman and Senator of NJ if need be, but I'm going to give them a bit more time before I start feeling too left out of the Jan NOA2 group. I'm sure people will get on my butt about it like they did for Alan but I don't care, I'm impatient, it's painful not knowing when I'll see my fiance, and I shouldn't have to deal with it just cos some jerk in Vermont is lazy and hasn't worked on my case. Maybe if we start a mob it'll scare them into action. Hi, you should definitely call the office of your Congressman; They exist to serve constituents. This is especially true during a rough election year. They will ask you to fax, or mail, a letter with the names and ages for you and your sweetie. Also include the receipt number from your NOA1. I called NVC everyday for two weeks while we were stuck there in Additional Processing. The NVC CSR rep (who recognized my name..and BTW they are as nice as they can be) on the last time I called gave me the Manila Embassy number and said..yee hee now you can call them everyday and bug them into submission.... he he he...the woman at the NVC, who was very nice, also gave me the phone number for the Embassy.
