Apparently, USCIS - Vermont approved our 129F on October 23rd. But it didn't show up online until today! I never received an email, nor has the notice arrived in the mail via post yet.

Hang in there people! I, too, was beginning to really worry and freak out that something was wrong since it'd been such a long time since I'd heard anything... there IS light at the end of the tunnel! .

..Now, off to start fretting over the next phase of this journey. whistling.gif

QUOTE (MarcelandKatrina @ Jul 20 2008, 12:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey guys, we technically belong here since our NOA 1 date is June 30th yes.gif

One thing we are kinda frustrated about is trying to plan a date for the wedding. Since the whole process could take as little as 5 or as long as 8 months, how can you plan? Does anyone else have this problem? I mean of course we could wait til like the interview to start planning but its hard to plan a wedding in a short amout of time especially with making reservations, etc. And isn't it true that the visa is only good for 4 months from when the USCIS approves it? We want to get married ASAP but we don't want to set a date and then the visa not be ready by then. sad.gif

We used the estimated date of our approval and added 60 days. We must be married in 90 days that gives us some room on either side. Of course if the process speeds up or slows dramatically we would make changes as needed. We are comfortable with our mid January date (in Disney). Good luck

Hi Marcuskelli,
Don't worry, here's why. I panicked starting at 10 days from the date I sent the I-129F. The USCIS didn't cash my check and they wouldn't accept my call until 4 weeks after we filed. In the end they got the petition, its in the stack with everybody else's. So if you have a USPS (or other) tracking number that says they signed for your paperwork sit back and relax, its being processed. I was a mess for weeks so please learn from my overreaction.
Good luck on your journey!

Hello fellow June Filers!
After contacting USCIS I am happy to report that we have our NOA1. Not hardcopy or electronic copy......verbal. I am putting in 7/24 for the date because that is the average (12 days) these days. I checked the USCIS website to see my NOA1 date but, due to my phone call, the last action date is today. At least our voyage has started and we have left the shore. Good luck everybody!

PhilippinesDS-156 - middle name question
QUOTE (Piscean @ Mar 12 2009, 09:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Is the middle name they asked in question number 7 considered as the second name or the mother's maiden name? i don't know what to write because the middle name that i wrote in the g-325A is my mother's maiden name not my second name.

I believe here in the US by middle name they mean your second name and not your mothers last name. So if your name is Maria Teresa or Maria Elena then your middle name would be Teresa or Elena and your first name is Maria. I had thesame problem before until my husband explained things to me. Or if you want to be more certain you can call USCIS at their customer service number.

you nailed it on the head !!! But if you are earning $ and sending it to your family in the Philippines... talagang malaking tulong and they will think you are really rich kasi 48 times na mas malaki ang nakuha nila in terms of purchasing power. But you are right in every way... Life in america is not easy you have to really break your back working to make ends meet... but... if you dont spend way beyond your means...then you will have an easy life here.

QUOTE (Brian and Jopay @ Mar 12 2009, 04:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Can anyone tell me what they think the best way is to ship personal belongings from the Philippines to the USA when moving here?

I was thinking just through the post office, but wondered what is most affordable if any other way. Things like clothing, any furniture, electronics, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Brian in Tennessee

why would you want to send your clothing and furniture stuff from the philippines to USA when you can buy those same things here at a lower expense on yourselves?

I AM HAPPY TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO'S VISA WAS GRANTED! (and envy them as well.....) and I am not against those people posting that their Visa was granted, that they recieved good news with their visa process.....

BUT....will it be better if you can just post topics that can help other people who are waiting and almost hopeless people waiting for their visas? or other topic that can be useful while waiting for the visa? (example: What are things you need to know? to prepare? to expect?..blah..blah!)

I know we are all happy for you...but will it make us feel better? I don't think so....coz as for my part it would make me feel more desperate to be with the Love of my Life...coz majority of the topic is "finally, received my visa", "have an interview schedule",blah blah....but what do they respond to them..."Congratulations!" that's it!

Again,I'm just stating what i feel....hate me..i dont care.....but can we just be more helpful and useful here to others who are desperately waiting for their visa approvals? whistling.gif

I can understand what are undergoing but I think its not the intention of these people who post their happiness when their visas are granted or successful interviews to make you feel down or disappointed. They are just showing you that there is HOPE. Please see the positive side of their posting and not the negativity of your feelings. I am sure your time will come and when that happens... you will also post it here and share it with all the VJ members who will also congratulate you.

My friends,

Where in the Philippines are you or your loved ones from? We'd be thrilled to know. Also, please provide a monicker or description of your town, city or province, if you could.

We'll start with myself. I am from Santa Cruz, a town just south of Davao City, and otherwise known as the Investors' Haven of Davao del Sur because of so many big enterprises with situs here. My fiance in Corona, California was born and raised in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, the Spanish colonial pueblo that was originally named La Ciudad Fernandina by our Castilian founders, in honor of King Ferdinand of Spain.

How about you?

I am from manila and my husband is from New Jersey. Tukayo pala tayo lol...We are now living here in NJ.

Whatever rocks your boat --- just don't pretend to know why people marry someone from abroad. And don't generalize -- or be kind enough not to include everyone in the "foreign bride" category. The day I think Bren married me because of some washed out stereotype of what "Mexican wives" are, I would kick his "American man" azz.
Peace out.

Thats a generalised statement. There are women with bad qualities and equally good qualities anywhere in the World, nowhere more and nowhere any less. As far as beauty is concerned, its really a personal choice. How come the world doesn't get to see more Miss Worlds and Miss Universes from Phillipines then... Also being religious has nothing to do with whether one is Christian or not.
The perfect wife is a relative term - depends on what you are looking for. Daniel and I did not have to remind each other and everybody else of how perfect a husband/wife we will make because he's American and I am Indian. Nor did we have to tell each other what the odds of us having a successful marriage were, based on the numbers...

We could point out all the better qualities of foreign women over american women (in general). I don't think it is insecurity but pride! I would say most men that marry a foreign bride is proud that he has gotten a good wife over getting an American wife who has the bad qualities that drove us to look abroad. I know American women are going to say I am bashing them but this is not what I am trying to do. I am only pointing out that some American men have had enough bad experiences with American women that we feel our chance for happiness is better from a foreign bride. I know I would have chosen to remain single if I had to marry an American woman.

After xtray I went to 5th floor then gave my paper again for u.s.a counter then wait for my name to be called again then take a seat for blood pressure check up and pulse.. good I got 100/60 I ask if its okay and its normal hehhee.. the 93 pulse. After that the nurse told me go to 2nd floor that the immunization interview I got a nice doctor just ask you about
when was your first and last menstruation
are you prenant
have you been check up in other clinic or hospital before
have do they told you have a week lungs, or in your family

do you have a diabetes, highpertension and explain to you about the vaccination
all my answer was no hahaha…..
then explain to you about immunization. That no pregnancy for 3 months. Because it coz abnormality for a baby or a abortion. Blah blah blah….. then she will tell you what vaccination you will got if your result was good. And told me that you have a choice where you want to get a immunization here or at u.s And ask you where you want here or in u.s and if is it okay to you the agreement and I answer fast I said yes I want here.. and she smiled and laugh she said waahh I explain to long and you answer so fast and short hahahaaha..

Then after that I back to 5th floor go to u.sa counter again wait for your name to be called then proceed to physical examination (naked room) hahahahhaha…. Don’t worry its girl doctor for female and you and the doctor only inside of the room just follow the doctor what she will said. Philippinesgurls... be careful with what you eat..
if it is white, don't eat it...., flour products like doughnuts, cookies, cakes, pastas, bread, pizza, and even rice. if you must eat white rice, then do small portions and not everyday. artifcial sweeteners are worse than pure sugar. stay away from sodas, and sweet drinks. if you must eat any of these things. then do it only on weekends or certain pre determined days. stick to lean meats and fish with salads veggies, fruit, nuts and exercise. buy a bicycle or kayak. swim, hike, and walk. if you don't eat right and stay active. YOU WILL GET FAT. it worked for me. i lost 70 lbs. but sometimes you just have to get tired of being fat, before you do something about it. there are a lot of advantages to being lean... heath being number one. but its also great for making love too. good luck to everyone and their struggle to stay thin biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ron

Many of these men had chosen to stay at home despite having "marketable skills and academic credentials" enabling them to find work outside the home, but 45 percent of them evolved in Manila because there was no other choice, Magpantay said.

My wife would say the Filipino husbands have chosen to stay home because they are lazy.

That's an insult to us Filipino Husband. We are blue collar worker...we are not lazy. I don't think she will say that..... Filipino men are more hard worker than white people. Been here in the US for 20 years........I haven't seen a single Pinoy standing in the middle of the street ...holding a carboard boxes that say's "WILL WORK FOR FOOD". Giving them opportunity...like here in the US.......I bet they will work their heart out, Working 2 jobs during weekdays... plus picking alluminun cans in the garbage on the weekend for extra cash. Company in philippines tend to hire more gals than guys..cuz' they are more presentable. Most skilled husband are working abroad or seaman. I bet they don't survey that.....a wife is a teacher and a husband is a farmer....I bet they did take a look at that. That survey is bull.......You can't just say FILIPINO HUSBAND ARE LAZY Just because you are married to a crack*er.....hell nooooo.....you gonna hear from them.......eww........stink.....I'm burn out.....can't wait for the weekend......nastyyyyyyyy.
Geez you stop complaining and work............................

I totally agree with you!!! Gals are hired more cuz they are more presentable hehehe. The survey for husbands who doesn't have jobs and have the wifey working for the fam most likely covers the class C or D of the society. So I don't think it has something to do with the metrosexual count, as i know that survey result may yield not only in the Philippines. Totally different issue! And about that FILIPINO HUSBANDS ARE LAZY??? come on you should think WAAAAY better than that...how could you come up with a generalization like that?! My future husband is by the way, a first Lieutenant in the U.S. army, a FILIPINO, at age 35 smile.gif worked his way so hard just to be who he is now (whom i'm sooo very proud of)....did i mention that he's a war vet too??? So watch it dude!

It's good to hear from Filipinos here in this forum as you are under-represented here! good.gif yes.gif Hopefully, enough people like you will speak up and help dispell the myth and stereotypes of Filipino men.
My father in Law, and brother in Laws are very kind and hard working men. they deserve, and do get all my respect. I'm very proud to be part of their family.

PhilippinesCFO SEMINAR in CEBU
yes, bring all that stuff and then they will tell you how bad foreign men are. and then they will reach their hands out and take the money your foreign fiance/spouse gave you for the seminar.
it really sucks that we have to pay them so they can try to scare you girls and tell you how bad foreign men are. I know that some relationships turn out bad, but there has to be a better way to educate, then to take our money and scare the girls...

Hello Fellow VJers,

My children and I left the Philippines for USA on August 3 and arrived on August 3 blink.gif . The plane landed at SEA-TAC Airport at around 7:40 PM pero kakaiba ang gabi dito. Hapon pa blink.gif Ang tanghali ay parang early morning.

I am still adjusting to the environment 'coz I was used to hearing noises from jeepneys, tricycles, tricyboats and other vehicles outside our home in the Philippines. Kakaiba talaga. . .

Good luck to all . . . .

with all due respect, if your talking to fellow VJers please use english throughout your sentence. if your talking to your sisters here then address it to them and use whatever language you would like. thank you...
