National Visa Center (Dept of State)Date of when DS-230 is generated

my office will be across the street from NVC in new hampshire so they can be filed 15 seconds after 'generation' and the client informed 10 seconds after that.

Unfortunately, a lot of the stuff doesn't go to the NH office, nor is it sent from there :( But the ones that are (like the AoS fee bill) I got 5 days after generation! That was nice :)

Hey, if you don't mind living in New Hampshire... then the job is all yours pal.

Nothing wrong with living in NH! Best place I've found to live in so far :)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)864 - tax return: insufficient income for one year
Don't worry about it. I had insufficient income for ALL 3 previous filing years---2006, 2005, and 2004 because I was a college student through most of those and thus not working most of the time. I really think that they look mostly at current income. As long as that's high enough, you should be fine. Include your assets as well if you think that would help, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

Dudes, did you guys miss the bit where I said I called the NVC and the dude put me on hold for ages and told me that for my case it didn't matter, all I had to send in was the DS-230 and Biographical information page? I'm almost sure that there will be some sort of a cut off date. Though it's possible that they were wrong, I would still call the NVC anyway and pester them and see if we can get any kind of information out of them that will help people know whether or not it's still safe for them to use the shortcuts without risking an RFE.

Call them and ask when your embassy became an appointment post instead of a standard processing post, try to find out if there is a cut off date that would let everyone know which cases will be affected!

Take action and get us some information!

Okay, I just called the NVC. The dude I spoke with put me on hold when I asked him when Helsinki became an appointment processing center as I had thought it was standard processing. And after what felt like an eternity, he got back to me and said he spoke with his supervisor and s/he said that for this case it didn't matter, and that all I needed to send in was the DS-230 and the copy of the passport.

I hope to god he's right wacko.gif

I hate them so much right now. They have no right to toy with people's lives.

They don't actually enter it onto the case for several days after they receive it, so I thought that would be all right.

In any case, it doesn't matter because my post became an Appointment Post, probably just earlier this month, and now I need to get the original documents here first.

Er...Helsinki isn't on that list...but they seem to have accepted our DS-230 just fine!

Um, when did this change take effect? I mailed in my DS-230 last week.

Question for all, how likely is it that my DS-230 will generate Monday 9/24? I'm inclined to send it out tomorrow (Thurs) so that it arrives right on time on 9/24.

Portsmouth accepts mail 24 hours a day, so if you were to overnight it, you might want to mail it off Monday morning so it will arrive Tuesday, and that way you won't risk it arriving in the moments on Monday before they generate it.

Have you filed the money order inquiry yet?

Sending a copy of the cancelled check to NVC might be just what you need to get out of this mess.

I continuously call my bank and ask them if it's been cashed yet, but it hasn't. The NVC most likely lost it, along with everyone else who sent theirs in August 2.

Knowing how closed mouthed the operators tend to be, I doubt they would give it to us at all.

If it were a private company, definitely.

But in that case, we would be paying all of the fees online with credit cards or paypal or electronic bank transfers and there wouldn't be any of this old fashioned mailing things back and forth ###### sad.gif

Stabu - are you guys like calling NVC every day or have you decided it's not worth the hassle? If you are calling what are they saying?

As I haven't been doing the calling I don't relly know that well. But I do know that my wife has been calling NVC almost daily and asked to speak with an operator. Early on (like last week and the week before) they've basically asked us to wait longer and given a number of different time estimates such as 2 to 3 weeks, 10-15 days and 10-15 businessdays. This week they have been talking about sending us a new copy of our IV bill and also asked us to wait some more. My wife has also called her bank that issued the cashier's check two-three times a week and they have always replied that the check hasn't been cashed yet, so thus nothing is moving there either. They have had our check for 28 days now, so something should happen soon...

Correction, they didn't talk about sending us a new copy of our IV bill. I asked them to because I was worried it was lost. And I got a money order, not a cashier's check, not that it makes much of a difference tongue.gif

It is unfortunate that this has happened Geist. I guess, to ask for another IV Bill letter is the best way to do right now. I just want to remind you that there is a note on there that you can not photocopy the bill right above the the tear along dotted lines. Also, they do have that extra digits right below the barcode. sad.gif

Hmm, I guess I didn't read that bit on the cover letter...why shouldn't we be able to photocopy it? I don't see how it would affect things.

Quite sucky indeed. I requested a new cover letter for the IV fee bill to be sent to me last week. Unfortunately I didn't photocopy the original one sent to me, or else I would have sent it off already. I would advise anyone else to photocopy the damn thing in case this happens again. It seems that if I had waited a week or so to send the damn thing out, we would not have been trapped sad.gif.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Appointment Processing original documents
Please guys, call the NVC and try to find out if there is a certain cut off date or anything as to which cases will now have to go through Appointment Processing and which will not. I spoke with the NVC last night and they told me that for my case all I needed to submit was the DS-230 part one and biographical info. I'm not sure if they're right, but getting more info on this would be very helpful!

As of October 1st, 2007, all embassies will be NVC appointment processing posts. Original documents will be required to be included if the package is received on or after October 1, 2007.

This is really horrible sad.gif It looks more and more like what we've been seeing this past year is complete and total centralization of the immigration process, so that it will move slower and (seemingly) discourage immigrants sad.gif More control, less flexibility, less information for the masses.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Standard or Appointment processing?
After this originally happened, I called the NVC and asked the operator and he spoke with his supervisor and then came back after a while and told me that I didn't have to worry about it.

Our case was completed yesterday. I would listen to them. It could be a mistake on the part of the webdesigner? Perhaps the links were updated but incorrectly?

Make sure that whomever you speak with talks to his supervisor and that you get their names and employee number too, just in case you have issues, if you take their advice and send it in with the standard processing info.

My biggest concern is that it would be a transaction number--like the a year long running number of how many IV bills they've sent out...that would be nearly impossible for us to predict. Or a random number. blink.gif

This is odd. I just tried to call the NVC and put in the NVC case number, but it asked me to enter the first 3 letters to the left of my number using my touchtone phone. I did this, and then it told me it couldn't understand my input and to put it in again. I did so, and then it told me to try again and then said that I had entered "ABJ" and if this is correct, press 1, incorrect, press 2...I pressed two but it never gave me an opportunity to re-enter these numbers. Instead it just kept repeating ABJ as the letters I had entered. How am I supposed to enter these letters??

Okay, some questions:
Do we have to replace both barcodes on the new DS-230 sheet or just the one at the bottom with our case number on it?
Also, on the new coversheet it appears that we can type in our case number above the barcode and do not need it typed underneath the barcode anymore. Is this accurate?

And the case number we use is indeed the NVC case number, right?

Current Status:

This case has been approved. On February 2, 2006, an approval notice was mailed.

I am excited but i am not sure what this means. Put this together with the new procedures at the US Embassy in Bangkok and i am not sure what to do next.
What information do I need and have to supply so I can I buy my PIN on the Embassy web site and set up my fiances appointment in Bangkok?
I only mailed out this I129F on 01/11/2006 WOW
