Last night I wrote my fiancee that if we didn't get our NOA2 today. I was going to go crazy!!!!! So tonight I get the mail.... not one letter but two letter!!!! One from VSC and one from NVC!!!

The ball is finally rolling...

Turns out they wont tell you anything unless you can quote the receipt number or your case number......

Anyhow we must have lucked out and got one of the nicest operators there lol, he let Chris know that he should have already recieved our notice as it has been mailed and if its not their in 14days to call back so they will resent it.

Woot, somewhere along the line we did actually get our NOA1!!!

I recently got back from Vacation in the Philippines. My fiancee is from China and we wanted to go to see some beautiful areas in the Phils and we absolutely loved it. I was in what people say is a "safe" area. I think if you are in Manila you will be fine. I hear Mindanao there could be issues b/c of the heavily muslim population and there is some rebel activity in that area as wel. All Hearsay, so If I am wrong I hope that people correct me. I found people in Manila and Boracay and the other small places that we traveled to extremly friendly and willing to help. Everyone wants to sell you something and they will try to ask for more money from you to see if you will notice, but overall I felt safe everywhere i went. I would use standard common sense and don't go places you feel uncomfortable and depending where you are don't venture into unknown places after dark. I think you will spend time with your girl so she should be able to steer you clear of danger. You should really go, it is an eye opener!

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. I got my NOA1 the same week you did and I have yet to receive anything else from the VSC. I have seen others get theirs lately and I expect something any day. I think we just ride this one out as tough as this wait may be. To pass the time I will head back to China to enjoy time with my girl. I hope we both get ours soon. Have a good weekend!

I'm starting to worry our files got lost or something??

We recieved our NOA1 December 1st, and according to the USCIS website, it was last touched Dec4th.
I've been looking every day since then for touches or updates but absolutely nothing. I've also been watching Igor's list daily and it seems like people with dates well after ours are recieving they're NOA2's. What's going on!!??
Even the VisaJourney website says the Vermont offices are now up to December 23rd NOA dates.

Should I be worried? What should I do?? I've been waiting and waiting, but i'm starting to worry now that people with dates well after mine are recieving the're next notices while I get nothing?

Hello,

I've submitted my 129F K1 back in December of 2009. I received I-797C shortly after that, but I have not received my NOA1 yet? It has been more than 4 months, which is considerably longer than ~70 days showing for CSC. I have been waiting patiently hoping no news is good news. Is anyone else waiting longer than usual like I am?

I checked the online status and it still says "initial review" and I am guessing making the online state update isn't their first priority.

Is anyone experiencing similar wait time? I plan to call their 1-800 to find out what's going on...

Any insight would be helpful.

I am definately feeling your pain too. I also sent in my 129F back on Nov 30 and it was received in on the first week of Dec 2009. Since I got my NOA1 way back then I have not heard anything and the status is "initial review" as well. I am not sure why I haven't received my NOA2 yet either. I can only hope that any day now that it comes in the mail. I sent mine into the VSC and many other people from the same week are getting their interviews already. :( Good luck, I will wait a little longer and then put a call in to see what's up.

The Vermont Service Center received my I-129F on January 4, 2010. Still no change in status and no other communication from uscis. I applied for my fiancee and her children.
Any idea how much longer I might have to wait? Thank you very much.

I sent my I-129F to the VSC and it was received in around Dec 1, 2009. I just got my NOA2 this week so it seems like they are a little slow. It does look like others got theirs earlier than me so maybe someone forgot it under their desk...:). Give it some time and you should be all set, but if you have concerns you can call them and see if there are any issues. Good luck!!!

Apologies, yes it is the 2 year green card, my wording was wrong.

2 years is almost up for renewal on the green card, and I wanted to know what my steps would be to have it renewed? I know I have to fill out a form, anyone know which one it is and the fees?

Also, the wife wanted to visit back to Pakistan for her sisters marriage, the green card expires December 2011, and was planning on going around that time, which would mean the green card would expire.

What would be our best option, they require to renew 90 days prior, and I am estimating the renewal would not come back quickly, and she does not want to miss the wedding. Anyone have any ideas?

Does that mean the case was actually approved?

They recieved it on FEb 23 and i don't think it can be approved that fast? Am I reading this wrong? no hard copy yet and i was finally able to check the status through the website today

It says according to the website I have been approved and the notice was sent on the 13th. Don't have the hard copy yet hopefully that comes in tomorrow since it's coming from CA, and I'm in NH.

I think so people get it translated for good measure. But I say save the $50. The one place that we did need a translation was when I was getting a US tax ID number for him to file our US taxes. He didn't have a passport at the time so instead we used a birth certificate and driver's license. That's the only time I needed a translation.

If you are interviewing in Montreal you DO NOT need to get your birth certificate translated. My husband's birth certificate was in French and we did our CR-1 interview in Montreal. I called NVC and they told me as long as the certificate is in English or in the language of the country the interview is being held, it WILL NOT need a translation.

We did not translate his birth certificate and there was no problem.

CanadaI-130 - What is typical timeline of NOA1 to Interview?
Our timeline was about 15 months. It took almost 6 months to get our initial I-130 approval and due to the lag in Montreal we had to wait 5 months for an interview date.

CanadaWhere to translate birth certificate
Just an FYI, you don't need to translate your birth certificate if you're interviewing in Montreal. My husband's birth certificate is in French and when I called NVC, they informed me that as long as the birth certificate is in either English, or the language of the consulate you're interviewing at, it does not need to be translated.

We submitted everything without having his birth certificate translated. I got a nasty question and attitude about it when we went in for the interview, but that was it. There was no real issue with not having it translated. Save yourself the $50.
