Thanks! Wish Stabu luck too....I'm hoping he doesn't screw it all up now that it's in his hands wink.gif

I hope to be on here Wednesday telling everyone we have a Visa!! (does that remind anyone else of the couples who say "we're pregnant," when really only one of them is pregnant?)

Trailmix--Stabu isn't posting at the moment because one of his posts was edited by a moderator and he was quite offended by it (he's against censorship completely) and he's decided to stop posting for a while because of it. I'm working on convincing him to come back, but it's really put him off the forums.

What is the normal timeframe for the consulate to schedule an interview for you guys?

No idea. The consulate in Helsinki is not that busy--when we emailed to get an appointment for me to get an affidavit to say I'm not married (required for foreigners marrying in Finland) so we could get married, it took us like 2 days to get an appointment scheduled. Hopefully we'll have one scheduled quickly though smile.gif

It takes between 2-4 weeks, it's hard to say where the average exactly is. It took exactly three weeks for us.

I or Trailmix are going to update you into this chart at some point. I tend to be rather lazy so I prefer doing large updates rather seldom, while Trailmix likes to do smaller updates more often smile.gif.

helllo Guys.....

I Want to tell you one thing.. its just a coincidence or anything else i dont know.... Me and GEIST are in the same boat... my 380 $ fee reached on the same date as it did for GEIST ... it was August 3, Friday ...

GEIST ..... See my Thread" NVC havent Cashed 380$ fee"

We both are same. My wife has sent a letter to NVC Portsmouth & St Louis to locate our payment in their offices.
We attached copy of the Bank check and also the USPS delivery signed Receipt

I hope it helps u .... AND WE march forwards sooon in meeting our loved Ones.....

Jigi

Erm, yes, Jigi, I know we're more or less in the same boat, but you still haven't answered the question many have asked you: has your I-130 been approved yet? Have you ever gotten a document from USCIS saying that your I-130 had been approved and was being sent to the NVC for further processing? As far as your timeline is concerned, your I-130 has yet to be adjudicated.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC timeline on IR-1/CR1 visas
To be a bit more clear, the NVC told me that there was nothing they could do, but I needed to call the bank and get them to track it and see if it had been cashed (even though the operator admitted that it's not like it would be cashed and not updated in their system). Then I asked her that if it was lost, what should I do? Resubmit the fee? And she said yes. I then asked her about the cover sheet, of which I did not make a copy before sending off and she said they could send me another.
So we'll wait. On Friday (which is also conveniently payday!) I'll get another money order and send it off wehn I get the new cover sheet. And then I'll cancel payment on the first one and hopefully get the money back.

Well that depends on the age of the step son...if he is over 14 he needsa G325A.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 Signed by a Notary

As I understood it, no notary is required if it's you completing the forms based on your income. In our case we needed a joint sponsor so we had that notarized.

Everyone's free to their opinion. My main recommendation was that if you have questions on this sort of thing, ask the people who should certainly know (the NVC).

Best of Luck

This is a recent change... sponsor....co-sponsor....it doesn't matter.

The form does not need to be notarized.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Affidavit of Support

Current income= what you're earning now.......and that will carry the most weight. You will, however, be required to show the amounts you've earned for the past 3 years. If you earned nothing then you'll need to write a letter explaning why your income was low and you were not required to file an income tax return..... it'll be important to show the person adjudicating your case that your employment is solid.

Okay, so that would make my current income the post-college student income, right? Fortunately I have filed my income taxes the last 3 years (well, last two plus 2006), even though it was so low so that shouldn't be a problem. And I'll definitely be able to get my employer to send me a letter saying that I'm employed, they're not going to fire me (yet), etc, etc.
GeistFemaleFinland2007-02-22 09:08:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Affidavit of Support
In the line where they ask for the current income on the I-864, what do they mean? For me, for example, I was a college student the last three tax years, so my income has been very low. Only in October have I been working full-time as a manager. So on my 2006 taxes, my income was $11,000---Not nearly high enough to meet 125% of the poverty level for 2 people. However, my current income, when put on a early basis, is much higher: somewhere around $38-40,000.

What do they mean then, by current income?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence that bona fides your marriage
For the new requirements I sent in 3 affidavits, two from family members and 1 from a friend. I somehow read in the instructions that three was the minimum, but maybe that just got in my head from somewhere else ;)

In anycase, I would definitely NOT recommend overcompliance. Pick one of the requirements and send in information pertinent to it. If all of us send in all of ther requirements, the one person who doesn't is going to be looked at really funny at the USCIS...and we just might find that in the future, we have to send in ALL of the info instead of just one of them. Kind of like how before this was a requirement, people would send in proof of a marital relationship anyway, in hopes it would speed things up, and now it's required.

This is bureaucracy, follow the letter of the law and that is all you're required to do.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAfter you receive NOA1

NOA 1 is basically a receipt notice which says your application is being processed and shows a probable--highly unlikely--time range for completion.

Hmm, i just looked over my NOA1 and it has no probable date for completion at all. The priority date space on it is left blank. Is there usually a date there?
