We're being really selfish and not really caring very much what happens at California, as it will most likely just make us jealous anyway. As they say, the grass is always greener on the OTHER side of the fence And to go a bit further.... 95% will get their NOA2 withing 150 days 97% within 180 and the other 3% just waits...and waits...and panics. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Timeline on I 130 Approvals	Sooo, I have been reading the forums for a few months now and, as mentioned all over the place, these approval times seem to be completely random. I would love to know how they work. Do they each just get a list of files and if someone is on holiday they sit there until they get back?? Our application is very straight forward, they mailed out our NOA1 on the 13th of Feb, our file hasn't been touched since then, yet someone gets approved who filed after us. Methinks the system is broken! But you guys already know that Darn, Trailmix, I saw you posted and hoped that maybe you had gotten an approval! You're the only person before me at Vermont But I would like to add that I think your signature is wrong---it lists your NOA1 date as being in March. That can't be right... Anyway, my husband went through all the I-130 approvals that he could find (when he should have been studying ) and came up with these statistics: 8% get NOA2 within 30 days of their NOA1 44% get NOA2 within 60 days of their NOA1 56% get NOA2 within 90 days of their NOA1 and 82% get NOA2 withing 120 of their NOA1 and the rest just sit there, not hearing anything, for a very long time (maximum so far has been 209 days) However, he also noted that the NOA2 has a large standard deviation (4 or 5), which makes it pretty much impossible to say that there's a 50-50 chance you'll get an NOA2 within 90 days of your NOA1. So while it is pretty random, there is also some order to the chaos I'm still hoping we're one of the 56% that gets our NOA2 within 90 days of the NOA1...as we're obviously not one of the 44% that will get it within 60 days	Geist	Female	Finland	2007-05-01 19:02:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Timeline on I 130 Approvals	I'm curious if anyone knows the answer to this: Does filing for an I-129F in addition to I-130 speed up the approval process for the I-130? I've noticed that they seem to get approved together. So part of my strategy was hoping whichever one they get to first will cause them to pull both forms and process them both together. Then I'm hoping to continue working both in parallel (if they forward my I-130 to NVC since I clearly indicated I am pursuing it). I'm also hoping that I can schedule a K3 interview and convert it to the IR-1 interview. Just curious if anyone has successfully pulled this off. Nowadays it tends to, but that's because filing the I-129f means that you're going for a K-3 visa. It used to be that you could file the I-130 and then file the I-129f and one would be approved for another so you basically could be in the running for both visas. But now it seems that as soon as they see you've filed the I-129f, they assume you must want the K-3, so they approve both forms together and you end up getting the K-3 unless you go through another long process and tell the USCIS to forward your I-130 to the NVC and hold back the I-129f. BUT, not to be a Nazi about this or anything, as your I-130 and I-129f were approved on the same day, you'll be getting a K-3 not a CR-1/IR-1. I don't think that it should be included on this CR-1/IR-1 timeline because it makes it look as though those of us who have not filed an I-129f should be expecting an approval when that's not the case. Could we please limit additions to this timeline to those who are not filing and have not filed an I-129f? IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Timeline on I 130 Approvals	I'm actually primarily pursuing the IR-1/CR-1 and going for the consular processing option. The K3 is just my emergency "just in case the USCIS borks up my I-130" backup plan. So I would think I should be on this list. This is an unlikely strategy now it seems. I believe they've started holding I-130s as soon as an I-129f is filed and have automatically been going with the K-3 visa for those who file a I-129f. Usually the two forms end up being filed at the same time. My husband and I were also going to go the K-3 route until we saw this. Then we figured we'd save the time (well, okay maybe not any actual time, but at least time filling out forms!) and money and just go with the CR-1.
